The problem of existence of wave operators for the Klein-Gordon equation ( t 2 –+2+iV1t+V2)u(x,t)=0 (x R n,t R, n3, >0) is studied where V1 and V2 are symmetric operators in L2(R n) and it is shown that conditions similar to those of Veseli-Weidmann (Journal Functional Analysis 17, 61–77 (1974)) for a different class of operators are also sufficient for the Klein-Gordon equation.  相似文献

We obtain the analytic expression for the total cross section of the reaction e e +l l + (l=,) taking possible quasianapole interaction effects into account. We find numerical restrictions on the interaction parameter value from data for the reaction e e ++ in the energy domain below the Z 0 peak.  相似文献

Summary Consider a stationary process {X n(), – < n < . If the measure of the process is finite (the measure of the whole sample space finite), it is well known that ergodicity of the process {X n(), - < n < and of each of the subprocesses {X n(), 0 n < , {X n(), – < n 0 are equivalent (see [3]). We shall show that this is generally not true for stationary processes with a sigma-finite measure, specifically for stationary irreducible transient Markov chains. An example of a stationary irreducible transient Markov chain {X n(), - < n <} with {itXn(), 0 n < < ergodic but {X n(), < n 0 nonergodic is given. That this can be the case has already been implicitly indicated in the literature [4]. Another example of a stationary irreducible transient Markov chain with both {X n(), 0 n < and {itX n(),-< < n 0} ergodic but {X n(), - < n < nonergodic is presented. In fact, it is shown that all stationary irreducible transient Markov chains {X n(), - < n < < are nonergodic. This research was supported in part by the Office of Naval Research.John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fellow.  相似文献

We shall develop a method to prove inequalities in a unified manner. The idea is as follows: It is quite often possible to find a continuous functional : n , such that the left- and the right-hand side of a given inequality can be written in the form (u)(v) for suitable points,v=v(u). If one now constructs a map n n , which is functional increasing (i.e. for each x n (which is not a fixed point of ) the inequality (x)<((x)) should hold) one specially gets the chain (u)( u))( 2(u))... n (u)). Under quite general conditions one finds that the sequence { n (u)} n converges tov=v(u). As a consequence one obtains the inequality (u)(v).  相似文献

Shikata proved: there is a number (n) with the following property: If two compact homeomorphic n-dimensional manifolds have a distance less than (n), then they are diffeomorphic. We improve the known lower bound (n!)–n for (n) to 1/3n –2.This work was done under the program Sonderforschungsbereich Theoretische Mathematik (SFB 40) at Bonn University while Shikata was SFB-guest at Bonn.  相似文献

For a graphG, letp(G) andc(G) denote the length of a longest path and cycle, respectively. Let (t,n) be the minimum ofp(G), whereG ranges over allt-tough connected graphs onn vertices. Similarly, let (t,n) be the minimum ofc(G), whereG ranges over allt-tough 2-connected graphs onn vertices. It is shown that for fixedt>0 there exist constantsA, B such that (t,n)A·log(n) and (t,n)·log((t,n))B·log(n). Examples are presented showing that fort1 there exist constantsA, B such that (t,n)A·log(n) and (t,n)B· log(n). It is conjectured that (t,n) B·log(n) for some constantB. This conjecture is shown to be valid within the class of 3-connected graphs and, as conjectured in Bondy [1] forl=3, within the class of 2-connectedK 1.l-free graphs, wherel is fixed.  相似文献

We prove a local limit theorem (LLT) on Cramer-type large deviations for sums S V = t V ( t ), where t , t Z , 1, is a Markov Gaussian random field, V Z , and is a bounded Borel function. We get an estimate from below for the variance of S V and construct two classes of functions , for which the LLT of large deviations holds.  相似文献

For every torsion free Fuchsian group with Poincaré's -operator norm é=1, it is proved that there exists an extremal Beltrami differential of which is also extremal under its own boundary correspondence. It is also proved that the imbedding of the Teichmüller spaceT() into the universal Teichmüller spaceT is not a global isometry unless is an elementary group.  相似文献

Let n be n-dimensional Euclidean space, and let : [0, L] n and : [0, L] n be closed rectifiable arcs in n of the same total length L which are parametrized via their arc length. is said to be a chord-stretched version of if for each 0s tL, |(t)–(s)| |(t)–(s)|. is said to be convex if is simple and if ([0, L]) is the frontier of some plane convex set. Individual work by Professors G. Choquet and G. T. Sallee demonstrated that if were simple then there existed a convex chord-stretched version of . This result led Professor Yang Lu to conjecture that if were convex and were a chord-stretched version of then and would be congruent, i.e. any chord-stretching map of a convex arc is an isometry. Professor Yang Lu has proved this conjecture in the case where and are C 2 curves. In this paper we prove the conjecture in general.  相似文献

LetT be a Hamiltonian tournament withn vertices and a Hamiltonian cycle ofT. In this paper we develope a general method to find cycles of lengthk, n+4/2 < k < n, intersecting in a large number of arcs. In particular we can show that if there does not exist a cycle.C k intersecting in at leastk – 3 arcs then for any arce of there exists a cycleC k containinge and intersecting in at leastk – 2(n–3)/n–k+3 – 2 arcs. In a previous paper [3] the case of cycles of lengthk, k n+4/2 was studied. On leave at MIT Laboratory for Computer Science, 545 Technology Square, Cambridge, MA 02139, USA.  相似文献

Suppose that in a domain R(, B) of variables (r, ): (0 r , 1 +B(r–r 0 ) 2–B(r–r0), where > 0, B > 0, 1 < 0 < 2 are numbers) a metric ds2 = dr2 +G(r, )d 2 and a function k(r, ) are given. The problem of isometrically immersing ds2 in E 4 with prescribed Gaussian torsion is considered. The following is proved: The class C 5 metric ds 2 is locally realized in the form of a class C 3 surface F 2 whose Gaussian torsion is the prescribed class C 3 function (r, ).Translated from Ukrainskii Geometricheskii Sbornik, No. 35, pp. 38–47, 1992.  相似文献

Summary A random timeT is a future independent time for a Markov chain (X n ) 0 ifT is independent of (X T+n ) n / =0 and if (X T+n ) n / =0 is a Markov chain with initial distribution and the same transition probabilities as (X n ) 0 . This concept is used (with the conditional stationary measure) to give a new and short proof of the basic limit theorem of Markov chains, improving somewhat the result in the null-recurrent case. This work was supported by the Swedish Natural Science Research Council and done while the author was visiting the Department of Statistics, Stanford University  相似文献

By using the classical Hadamard theorem, we obtain an exact (in a certain sense) inequality for the best polynomial approximations of an analytic function f(z) from the Hardy space H p, p 1, in disks of radii , 1, and 2, 0 < 1 < < 2 < 1.  相似文献

Let k denote a non-trivial non-archimedean complete valuated field and X an irreducible k-affinoid space. We discuss the Hartog's domain H*:=(X×En) (U×En) where øUX is an affinoid subdomain, En is the n-dimensional unit-polydisc over k and En is the ringdomain of all z==(z1,...,zn)En with some coordinate |zi|=1. The main result is the non-archimedean version of Rothstein's extensiontheorem for analytic subvarieties: Every k-holomorphic subvariety AH* whose every branch has dimension (dim X + 1) can be extended to a k-holomorphic subvariety X×En such that every branch of has dimension (dim X + l).  相似文献

Summary We investigate generalizations of the classical Jensen and Chebyshev inequalities. On one hand, we restrict the class of functions and on the other we enlarge the class of measures which are allowed. As an example, consider the inequality (J)(f(x) d) A (f(x) d, d d = 1. Iff is an arbitrary nonnegativeL x function, this holds if 0, is convex andA = 1. Iff is monotone the measure need not be positive for (J) to hold for all convex withA = 1. If has higher monotonicity, e.g., is also convex, then we get a version of (J) withA < 1 and measures that need not be positive.  相似文献

B. Bajnok and S. Shahriari proved that in 2[n], the Boolean lattice of order n, the width (the maximum size of an antichain) of a non-trivial cutset (a collection of subsets that meets every maximal chain and does not contain or [n]) is at least n-1. We prove that, for n5, in the Boolean lattice of order n, given -1 disjoint long chains, we can enlarge the collection to a cutset of width n-1. However, there exists a collection of long chains that cannot be so extended.  相似文献

Let LSC(X) be the set of the proper lower semicontinuous extended real-valued functions defined on a metric spaceX. Given a sequence f n in LSC(X) and a functionf LSC(X), we show that convergence of f n tof in several variational convergence modes implies that for each , the sublevel set at height off is the limit, in the same variational sense, of an appropriately chosen sequence of sublevel sets of thef n, at height n approaching . The converse holds true whenever a form of stability of the sublevel sets of the limit function is verified. The results are obtained by regarding a hyperspace topology as the weakest topology for which each member of an appropriate family of excess functionals is upper semicontinuous, and each member of an appropriate family of gap functionals is lower semicontinuous. General facts about the representation of hyperspace topologies in this manner are given.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to a study of the properties of the equationA *FA–F=–G, where FL() is unknown, AL(), GL() is positive and is a Hilbert space. It is shown that necessary and sufficient (in some sense) conditions for the existence of positive definite solutions of this equation are directly connected with the stability of infinite dimensional linear systemx k+1=Ax k . The relationships between stability of such a system and stability of a continuous-time system generated by a strongly continuous semigroup are given also. As an example the case of the delayed system in Rn is considered. This work was supported in part by the Polish Academy of Sciences under the contract Problem Miedzyresortowy I.1, Grupa Tematyczna 3 This paper was written while the author was with the Instytut Automatyki, the same university.  相似文献

Let (X n ) n 0 be a real random walk starting at 0, with centered increments bounded by a constant K. The main result of this study is: |P(S n n x)–P( sup0 u 1 B u x)| C(n,K) n/n, where x 0, 2 is the variance of the increments, S n is the supremum at time n of the random walk, (B u ,u 0) is a standard linear Brownian motion and C(n,K) is an explicit constant. We also prove that in the previous inequality S n can be replaced by the local score and sup0 u 1 B u by sup0 u 1|B u |.  相似文献

Let R be an associative, commutative, unital ring. By a R-algebra we mean a unital R-module A together with a R-module homomorphism : R n AA (n2). We raise the question whether such an algebra possesses either an idempotent or a nilpotent element. In section 1 an affirmative answer is obtained in case R=k is an algebraically closed field and dimkA<, as well as in case R=, dimS<, and n0(2). Section 2 deals with the case of reduced rings R and R-algebras which are finitely generated and projective as R-modules. In section 3 we show that the generic algebra over an integral domain D fails to have nilpotent elements in any integral domain extending its base ring Dn,m, and thus acquires an idempotent element in some integral domain extending Dn,m.Partially supported by National Science Foundation Grant GP-38229.  相似文献
