Prime Ideals in Near-Rings

An ideal I of a near-ring R is a type one prime ideal if whenever a Rb ? I, then a ∈ I or b ∈ I. This paper considers the interconnections between prime ideals and type one prime ideals in near-rings. It also develops properties of type one prime ideals, gives several examples illustrating where prime and type one prime are not equivalent, and investigates the properties of the type one prime radical. Several different types of conditions are given which guarantee that a prime ideal is type one. The class of all near-rings for which each prime ideal is type one is investigated and many examples of such near-rings are exhibited. Various localized distributivity conditions are found which are useful in establishing when prime ideals will be type one prime.     

Pasting topological spaces at one point

Let {X _α } _α∈Λ be a family of topological spaces and x _α ∈ X _α , for every α ∈ Λ. Suppose X is the quotient space of the disjoint union of X _α ’s by identifying x _α ’s as one point σ. We try to characterize ideals of C(X) according to the same ideals of C(X _α )’s. In addition we generalize the concept of rank of a point, see [9], and then answer the following two algebraic questions. Let m be an infinite cardinal. (1) Is there any ring R and I an ideal in R such that I is an irreducible intersection of m prime ideals? (2) Is there any set of prime ideals of cardinality m in a ring R such that the intersection of these prime ideals can not be obtained as an intersection of fewer than m prime ideals in R? Finally, we answer an open question in [11].     

Uppers to zero in intersections of prime ideals

Let R be a Noetherian integral domain. The structure of the partially-ordered set of prime ideals of R[z], the polynomial ring in one indeterminate over R, is not fully understood. I demonstrate that if p₁,…,p_n are prime ideals in R[x] with ht(p_i) > 2 and either n = 1 or R is not a Henselian local domain of dimension < 2, then pi D-o-C\pn contains [R] many prime ideals which intersect R at (0). I also show that if R is a Noetherian domain that is not a Henselian local domain and p₁,…,p_n are prime ideals with height > 2 each of which contains a monic polynomial, then their intersection contains [R] many prime ideals meeting R at (0), each containing a monic polynomial.     

UNIQUE FACTORIZATION AND BIRTH OF ALMOST PRIMES

ABSTRACT

In studying unique factorization of domains we encountered a property of ideals. Using that we define the notion of almost prime ideals and prove that in Noetherian domains almost prime ideals are primary. We also prove that in a regular domain almost primes are precisely primes. Further, we define strictly nonprime ideals and study some inter relations between almost prime ideals, strictly nonprime ideals and factorization of ideals.     

Prime ideals in 0-distributive posets

In the first section of this paper, we prove an analogue of Stone’s Theorem for posets satisfying DCC by using semiprime ideals. We also prove the existence of prime ideals in atomic posets in which atoms are dually distributive. Further, it is proved that every maximal non-dense (non-principal) ideal of a 0-distributive poset (meet-semilattice) is prime. The second section focuses on the characterizations of (minimal) prime ideals in pseudocomplemented posets. The third section deals with the generalization of the classical theorem of Nachbin. In fact, we prove that a dually atomic pseudocomplemented, 1-distributive poset is complemented if and only if the poset of prime ideals is unordered. In the last section, we have characterized 0-distributive posets by means of prime ideals and minimal prime ideals.

Prime fuzzy ideals, weakly prime fuzzy ideals of Γ-semigroups

Using fuzzy points the notions of prime fuzzy ideals and weakly prime fuzzy ideals of a Γ-semigroup have been introduced. Some important properties and characterizations of these ideals have been obtained. The concluding result shows that our work sharpens previous works on prime fuzzy ideals of Γ-semigroups.     

The quantum euclidean algebra and its prime spectrum

For the quantum Euclidean algebra, its prime, completely prime and maximal spectra are described (together with inclusions of prime ideals). The centre is generated by two algebraically independent elements (one is quadratic and the other is cubic).

The stable set of associated prime ideals of a polymatroidal ideal

The associated prime ideals of powers of polymatroidal ideals are studied, including the stable set of associated prime ideals of this class of ideals. It is shown that polymatroidal ideals have the persistence property and for transversal polymatroids and polymatroidal ideals of Veronese type the index of stability and the stable set of associated ideals is determined explicitly.     

Strongly prime algebraic Lie PI-algebras

In a recent paper by the author and Golubkov, it was proved that a strongly prime Lie PI-algebra with an algebraic adjoint representation over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0 is simple and finite dimensional. In this note, we derive this result from a more general one on strongly prime Lie PI-algebras with abelian minimal inner ideals, which is closely related to the intrinsic characterization of simple finitary Lie algebras with abelian minimal inner ideals.     

On the stable set of associated prime ideals of a monomial ideal

It is shown that any set of nonzero monomial prime ideals can be realized as the stable set of associated prime ideals of a monomial ideal. Moreover, an algorithm is given to compute the stable set of associated prime ideals of a monomial ideal.

A generalization of semi prime indeals in γ-rings

The purpose of this paper is to generalize the concept of semi prime ideals in Γ-rings. We use a general definition of a regularity F for Γ-rings to define and F- prime ideal. Relationships between F-semi prime ideals of a Γ-ring M and F-semi prime ideals of the operator rings R and L are discussed. D-regularity, f-regularity and λ-regularity for Γ-rings are introduced and studied against the background of the concept F-semi prime ideal. Finally, D-, λ- and f-regular Γ-rings are characterized.     

Relative polars in ordered sets

In the paper, the notion of relative polarity in ordered sets is introduced and the lattices of R-polars are studied. Connections between R-polars and prime ideals, especially in distributive sets, are found.     

Ideals of Finite-Dimensional Pointed Hopf Algebras of Rank One

Let H be a finite-dimensional pointed Hopf algebra of rank one over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero.In this paper we show that any finite-dimensional indecomposable H-module is generated by one element.In particular,any indecomposable submodule of H under the adjoint action is generated by a special element of H.Using this result,we show that the Hopf algebra H is a principal ideal ring,i.e.,any two-sided ideal of H is generated by one element.As an application,we give explicitly the generators of ideals,primitive ideals,maximal ideals and completely prime ideals of the Taft algebras.     

Descriptions of radicals of skew polynomial and skew Laurent polynomial rings

In this paper, we first characterize the Levitzki radical of a skew (Laurent) polynomial ring by the prime ideals and skewed prime ideals in the base ring. We next provide formulas for the strongly prime radical and the uniformly strongly prime radical of skew (Laurent) polynomial rings.
