We consider tri-bimaximal lepton mixing within low-scale seesaw schemes where light neutrino masses arise from TeV scale physics, potentially accessible at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Two examples are considered, based on the A4A4 flavor symmetry realized within the inverse or the linear seesaw mechanisms. Both are highly predictive so that in both the light neutrino sector effectively depends only on three mass parameters and one Majorana phase, with no CP violation in neutrino oscillations. We find that the linear seesaw leads to a lower bound for neutrinoless double beta decay while the inverse seesaw does not. The models also lead to potentially sizeable decay rates for lepton flavor violating processes, tightly related by the assumed flavor symmetry.  相似文献

We analyze a model of cold axion dark matter weakly coupled with a dark gluon condensate, reproducing dark energy. We first review how to recover the dark energy behavior using the functional renormalization group approach, and ground our study in the properties of the effective Lagrangian,to be determined non-perturbatively.Then,within the context of G_(SM)×SU(2)_D×U(1)_(P Q),we consider Yang-Mills condensate(YMC)interactions with QCD axions. We predict a transfer of dark energy density into dark matter density, that can be tested in the next generation of experiments dedicated to dark energy measurements. We obtain new bounds on the interactions between the Yang-Mills condensate and axion dark matter from Planck data:the new physics interaction scale related to the axion/gluon condensate mixing is constrained to be higher than the 10~6GeV energy scale.  相似文献

We study renormalisation group (RG) corrections relevant for leptogenesis in the case of family symmetry models such as the Altarelli–Feruglio A4A4 model of tri-bimaximal lepton mixing or its extension to tri-maximal mixing. Such corrections are particularly relevant since in large classes of family symmetry models, to leading order, the CP violating parameters of leptogenesis would be identically zero at the family symmetry breaking scale, due to the form dominance property. We find that RG corrections violate form dominance and enable such models to yield viable leptogenesis at the scale of right-handed neutrino masses. More generally, the results of this paper show that RG corrections to leptogenesis cannot be ignored for any family symmetry model involving sizeable neutrino and τ Yukawa couplings.  相似文献

With an assumption that in the Yang-Mills Lagrangian, a left-handed fermion and a right-handed fermion both expressed as the quaternion makes an octonion, and the gauge field can be treated as self-dual, we calculate the axial current and two vector currents triangle diagram of Bardeen, which yields the contribution of the axial anomaly. The octonion possesses the triality symmetry, and there are 5 symmetry operations G ij and G ijk (ijk = 123), in which mixing of spinors and vectors occur. G 23 does not mix vectors and spinors, but mismatch of the spinor and vector fields occurs. Hence, electro magnetic (EM) wave emitted from galaxies transformed by the five transformations would not be detected by EM detectors in our galaxy, and the source would be regarded as dark matter. The axial anomaly appears as a reflection of the symmetry of the matter field and not as a reflection of the symmetry of the pure vacuum, which is consistent with recent arguments on condensates and confinement.  相似文献

We consider the “standard” spectrum of the active neutrinos (characterized by strong mass hierarchy and small mixing) with additional sterile neutrino, vs. The sterile neutrino mixes strongly with the muon neutrino, so that vμvs oscillations solve the atmospheric neutrino problem. We show that the parametric enhancement of the vμvs oscillations occurs for the high energy atmospheric neutrinos which cross the core of the Earth. This can be relevant for the anomaly observed by the MACRO experiment. Solar neutrinos are converted both to vμand vs. The heaviest neutrino (≈ vτ) may compose the hot dark matter of the Universe. The phenomenology of this scenario is elaborated and crucial experimental signatures are identified. We also discuss properties of the underlying neutrino mass matrix. 1998 Published by Elsevier Science B.V.  相似文献

The nuclear symmetry energy coefficient(including the coefficient a_(sym)~((4)) of the I~4 term) of finite nuclei is extracted by using the differences of available experimental binding energies of isobaric nuclei. It is found that the extracted symmetry energy coefficient a_(sym)~*(A,I) decreases with increasing isospin asymmetry I,which is mainly caused by Wigner correction, since e_(sym)~* is the summation of the traditional symmetry energy e_(sym) and the Wigner energy ew.We obtain the optimal values J = 30.25±0.10 MeV,a_(ss)=56.18±1.25 MeV,a_(sym)~((4)) = 8.33±1.21 MeV and the Wigner parameter x= 2.38 ±0.12 through a polynomial fit to 2240 measured binding energies for nuclei with20 ≤ A ≤ 261 with an rms deviation of 23.42 keV.We also find that the volume symmetry coefficient J■ 30 MeV is insensitive to the value x,whereas the surface symmetry coefficient a_(ss) and the coefficient a_(sym)~((4)) are very sensitive to the value of x in the range 1≤x≤4.The contribution of the a_(sym)~((4)) term increases rapidly with increasing isospin asymmetry I.For very neutron-rich nuclei, the contribution of the a_(sym)~((4)) term will play an important role.  相似文献

We consider the implications of solar matter density random noise upon resonant neutrino conversion. The evolution equation describing MSW-like conversion is derived in the framework of the Schrödinger approach. We study quantitatively the effect of such matter perturbations upon both large and small mixing angle MSW solutions to the solar neutrino problem. This is carried out both for the active-active vevμ,τ as well as active-sterile vevs conversion channels. We find that the small mixing MSW solution is much more stable (especially in Δm2 than the large mixing solution. The possible existence of solar matter density noise at the few percent level could be tested at future solar neutrino experiments, especially Borexino.  相似文献

We propose a quasi-degenerate dark matter scenario to simultaneously explain the 1.4 Te V peak in the high-energy cosmic-ray electron-positron spectrum reported by the DAMPE collaboration very recently and the 3.5 ke V X-ray line observed in galaxies clusters and from the Galactic centre and confirmed by the Chandra and Nu STAR satellites. We consider a dark S U(2)′× U(1)′gauge symmetry under which the dark matter is a Dirac fermion doublet composed of two S U(2)′doublets with non-trivial U(1)′charges. At the one-loop level the two dark fermion components can have a mass split as a result of the dark gauge symmetry breaking. Through the exchange of a mediator scalar doublet the two quasi-degenerate dark fermions can mostly annihilate into the electron-positron pairs at the tree level for explaining the 1.4 Te V positron anomaly, meanwhile, the heavy dark fermion can very slowly decay into the light dark fermion with a photon at the one-loop level for explaining the 3.5 ke V X-ray line. Our dark fermions can be also verified in the direct detection experiments.  相似文献

Peccei–Quinn (PQ) mechanism based on a chiral global U(1) symmetry is considered to be a simple and elegant solution for strong CP problem. The fact that the mechanism could be experimentally examined through the axion search makes it much more interesting and recently it causes a lot of attention again. However, it is also known that the mechanism is annoyed by two serious problems, that is, a domain wall problem and goodness of global symmetry. Any global symmetry is considered not to be exact due to the quantum effect of gravity. In this paper, we consider a solution to these problems, in which quark mass hierarchy and mixing, neutrino mass generation and existence of dark matter are closely related. In our solution, PQ symmetry is assumed to be induced through symmetry breaking at an intermediate scale of a local U(1) symmetry, and a global U(1) symmetry which plays a role of Froggatt–Nielsen symmetry . In the lepton sector, a remnant of the PQ symmetry controls neutrino mass generation and dark matter existence.  相似文献

We show how to enlarge the νMSM (the minimal extension of the Standard Model by three right-handed neutrinos) to incorporate inflation and provide a common source for electroweak symmetry breaking and for right-handed neutrino masses. In addition to inflation, the resulting theory can explain simultaneously dark matter and the baryon asymmetry of the Universe; it is consistent with experiments on neutrino oscillations and with all astrophysical and cosmological constraints on sterile neutrino as a dark matter candidate. The mass of inflaton can be much smaller than the electroweak scale.  相似文献

We propose two supersymmetric Standard Models (SMs) with decaying and stable dark matter (DM) particles. To explain the SM fermion masses and mixings and have a heavy decay DM particle S, we consider the Froggatt–Nielsen mechanism by introducing an anomalous U(1) X gauge symmetry. Around the string scale, the U(1) X gauge symmetry is broken down to a Z 2 symmetry under which S is odd while all the SM particles are even. S obtains a vacuum expectation value around the TeV scale, and then it can three-body decay dominantly to the second/third family of the SM leptons in Model I and to the first family of the SM leptons in Model II. Choosing a benchmark point in the constrained minimal supersymmetric SM with exact R parity, we show that the lightest neutralino DM is consistent with the CDMS II experiment. Considering S three-body decay and choosing suitable parameters, we show that the PAMELA and Fermi-LAT experiments and the PAMELA and ATIC experiments can be explained in Model I and Model II, respectively.  相似文献

The semi-constrained NMSSM(scNMSSM) extends the MSSM by a singlet field, and requires unification of the soft SUSY breaking terms in the squark and slepton sectors, while it allows that in the Higgs sector to be different. We try to interpret the muon g-2 in the sc NMSSM, under the constraints of 125 Ge V Higgs data, B physics, searches for low and high mass resonances, searches for SUSY particles at the LHC, dark matter relic density by WMAP/Planck, and direct searches for dark matter by LUX, XENON1T, and PandaX-II. We find that under the above constraints, the sc NMSSM can still(i) satisfy muon g-2 at 1σ level, with a light muon sneutrino and light chargino;(ii) predict a highly-singlet-dominated 95 GeV Higgs, with a diphoton rate as hinted at by CMS data, because of a light higgsino-like chargino and moderate λ;(iii) get low fine tuning from the GUT scale with smallμeff, M_0, M_(1/2), and A_0, with a lighter stop mass which can be as low as about 500 GeV, which can be further checked in future studies with search results from the 13 TeV LHC;(iv) have the lightest neutralino be singlino-dominated or higgsino-dominated, while the bino and wino are heavier because of high gluino bounds at the LHC and universal gaugino conditions at the GUT scale;(v) satisfy all the above constraints, although it is not easy for the lightest neutralino, as the only dark matter candidate, to get enough relic density. Several ways to increase relic density are discussed.  相似文献

The recent discovery of the putative 125 GeV Higgs boson has motivated a number of attempts to reconcile its relatively large mass with the predictions of the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). Some approaches invoked large trilinear supersymmetry breaking terms AtAt between stops and one of the elementary Higgs fields. We consider the possibility that electroweak symmetry breaking may be triggered by supersymmetry breaking with a large AtAt, large enough to generate a composite field with the same quantum numbers as the Higgs boson and with a non-vanishing vacuum expectation value. In the resulting vacuum, the usual relation between the gauge couplings and the Higgs self-coupling does not apply, and there is no reason to expect the same upper bound on the mass of the lightest Higgs boson. In a simple model where the bound state is assumed to have no mixing with the other fields, we calculate the critical coupling AtAt necessary for symmetry breaking using the lowest-order Bethe–Salpeter (BS) equation. Study of the BS equation is complicated by the structure of its lowest-order kernel, which is a crossed box graph, but we find an accurate approximation to its solution. In a realistic model, the mixing of the bound state with the fundamental Higgs boson creates a symmetry-breaking seesaw. We outline the steps toward a realistic model.  相似文献

We constrain three cosmological models – the concordance cold dark matter plus cosmological constant(ΛCDM) model, the power-law(PL) model, and the Rh =ct model – using the available local probes, which include the JLA compilation of type-Ia supernovae(SNe Ia), the direct measurement of the Hubble constant(H_(z)), and the baryon acoustic oscillations(BAO). For the ΛCDM model, we consider two different cases, i.e. zero and non-zero spatial curvature. We find that by using the JLA alone, the ΛCDM and PL models are indistinguishable, but the Rh =ct model is strongly disfavored. If we combine JLA+H_(z), the ΛCDM model is strongly favored over the other two models. The combination of all three datasets supports ΛCDM as the best model. We also use the low-redshift(z 0.2) data to constrain the deceleration parameter using the cosmography method, and find that only the ΛCDM model is consistent with cosmography. However, there is no strong evidence to distinguish between flat and non-flatΛCDM models by using the local data alone.  相似文献

We study the bifurcation and dynamical behaviour of the system of N globally coupled identical phase oscillators introduced by Hansel, Mato and Meunier, in the cases N=3 and N=4. This model has been found to exhibit robust ‘slow switching’ oscillations that are caused by the presence of robust heteroclinic attractors. This paper presents a bifurcation analysis of the system in an attempt to better understand the creation of such attractors. We consider bifurcations that occur in a system of identical oscillators on varying the parameters in the coupling function. These bifurcations preserve the permutation symmetry of the system. We then investigate the implications of these bifurcations for the sensitivity to detuning (i.e. the size of the smallest perturbations that give rise to loss of frequency locking). For N=3 we find three types of heteroclinic bifurcation that are codimension-one with symmetry. On varying two parameters in the coupling function we find three curves giving (a) an S3-transcritical homoclinic bifurcation, (b) a saddle-node/heteroclinic bifurcation and (c) a Z3-heteroclinic bifurcation. We also identify several global bifurcations with symmetry that organize the bifurcation diagram; these are codimension-two with symmetry. For N=4 oscillators we determine many (but not all) codimension-one bifurcations with symmetry, including those that lead to a robust heteroclinic cycle. A robust heteroclinic cycle is stable in an open region of parameter space and unstable in another open region. Furthermore, we verify that there is a subregion where the heteroclinic cycle is the only attractor of the system, while for other parts of the phase plane it can coexist with stable limit cycles. We finish with a discussion of bifurcations that appear for this coupling function and general N, as well as for more general coupling functions.  相似文献

We report the result of a search for a day-night asymmetry in the 7Be solar neutrino interaction rate in the Borexino detector at the Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso (LNGS) in Italy. The measured asymmetry is Adn=0.001±0.012 (stat)±0.007 (syst), in agreement with the prediction of MSW-LMA solution for neutrino oscillations. This result disfavors MSW oscillations with mixing parameters in the LOW region at more than 8.5 σ. This region is, for the first time, strongly disfavored without the use of reactor anti-neutrino data and therefore the assumption of CPT symmetry. The result can also be used to constrain some neutrino oscillation scenarios involving new physics.  相似文献

We extend the holographic Ricci dark energy model to include some direct, non-gravitational interaction between dark energy and dark matter. We consider three phenomenological forms for the interaction term Q in the model, namely, Q is taken proportional to the Hubble expansion rate and the energy densities of dark sectors (taken to be ?? de, ?? m, and ?? de+?? m, respectively). We obtain a uniform analytical solution to the three interacting models. Furthermore, we constrain the models by using the latest observational data, including the 557 Union2 type Ia supernovae data, the cosmic microwave background anisotropy data from the 7-yr WMAP, and the baryon acoustic oscillation data from the SDSS. We show that in the interacting models of the holographic Ricci dark energy, a more reasonable value of ?? m0 will be obtained, and the observations favor a rather strong coupling between dark energy and dark matter.  相似文献

We investigate \(M^0 - \bar M^0 \) mixing and CP violation in the minimal left-right symmetric gauge model with spontaneous P and CP violation. The dominant contributions to the mixing amplitude including QCD corrections are calculated explicitly for \(B^0 - \bar B^0 \) . While the amount of mixing is not much changed with respect to the standard model leftright symmetry can give rise to significantly larger CP violation in the \(B_s^0 - \bar B_s^0 \) system (up to two orders of magnitude for the dilepton charge asymmetry). Sizable CP violating effects require that the left-right contribution to theK L K S mass difference has the same sign as the standard model contribution. We also comment on \(D^0 - \bar D^0 \) mixing including a careful discussion of the standard model prediction for the short distance part.  相似文献

TheSU(3) H model of spontaneously broken local family symmetry is considered as a simplest version of realistic quantum flavourdynamics, giving reasonable explanation of the mass hierarchy and mixing pattern of quarks and leptons. This scheme can naturally possess one or two additional globalU(1) symmetries, which can play the role of Peccei-Quinn symmetry. The model predicts: existence of the neutrino Majorana masses with definite hierarchy, existence of familon being simultaneously invisible axion (or arion) and Majoron, relationship between neutrino lifetimes relative to familon decays. Thereby, the model provides the unified physical ground for all the main types of dark matter, considered in the theory of large scale structure of the universe.  相似文献
