We study the action of the conformal algebra on interacting fields. On a certain set of states the algebra is integrated to projective representations ofSU(2,2). These representations are shown to be equivalent to the representations of the interpolated discrete series ofSU(2,2). Using this result we give a formula for the two-point Wightman function for arbitrary spin and dimension of the field. Finally we discuss the limit when the dimension tends to the canonical value.  相似文献

The connection between the exchange algebra in theSU(2) Wess-Zumino Novikov-Witten model and the quantum groupSU(2) is discussed. It is shown that on the quasiclassical level this connection has the simple interpretation in terms of the Lie-Poisson action ofSU(2) on the chiral components of the fields in the WZNW model.Dedicated to Res Jost and Arthur Wightman  相似文献

In this paper, Grand Unified theories are discussed in terms of quaternions and octonions by using the relation between quaternion basis elements with Pauli matrices and Octonions with Gell Mann λ matrices. Connection between the unitary groups of GUTs and the normed division algebra has been established to re-describe the SU(5) gauge group. We have thus described the SU(5) gauge group and its subgroup SU(3) C ×SU(2) L ×U(1) by using quaternion and octonion basis elements. As such the connection between U(1) gauge group and complex number, SU(2) gauge group and quaternions and SU(3) and octonions is established. It is concluded that the division algebra approach to the theory of unification of fundamental interactions as the case of GUTs leads to the consequences towards the new understanding of these theories which incorporate the existence of magnetic monopole and dyon.  相似文献

Starting with the usual definitions of octonions, an attempt has been made to establish the relations between octonion basis elements and Gell-Mann λ matrices of SU(3) symmetry on comparing the multiplication tables for Gell-Mann λ matrices of SU(3) symmetry and octonion basis elements. Consequently, the quantum chromo dynamics (QCD) has been reformulated and it is shown that the theory of strong interactions could be explained better in terms of non-associative octonion algebra. Further, the octonion automorphism group SU(3) has been suitably handled with split basis of octonion algebra showing that the SU(3) C gauge theory of colored quarks carries two real gauge fields which are responsible for the existence of two gauge potentials respectively associated with electric charge and magnetic monopole and supports well the idea that the colored quarks are dyons.  相似文献

In this paper theSU(3)-symmetric model of a static baryon octet source interacting with pseudoscalar meson octet fields by the coupling of Yukawa type is considered in the strong coupling limit. Using the result derived earlier that the isobaric states form the basis of the unitary irreducible representation of the dynamical group G=T 24 [SU(3) SU(2)], the mass operator is specified by the kinetic part of the Hamiltonian as a particular element of the universal enveloping algebra of the symmetry groupSU(3) SU(2) acting in the space of isobaric states.  相似文献

The algebra dual to Woronowicz's deformation of the two-dimensional Euclidean group is constructed. The same algebra is obtained from SU q (2) via contraction on both the group and algebra levels.  相似文献

The generator of electromagnetic gauge transformations in the Dirac equation has a unique geometric interpretation and a unique extension to the generators of the gauge group SU(2) × U(1) for the Weinberg-Salam theory of weak and electromagnetic interactions. It follows that internal symmetries of the weak interactions can be interpreted as space-time symmetries of spinor fields in the Dirac algebra. The possibilities for interpreting strong interaction symmetries in a similar way are highly restricted.  相似文献

Effective Lagrangian for Yang-Mills gauge fields invariant under the standard space-time and local gauge SU(3) transformations is considered. It is demonstrated that a set of twelve degenerated minima exists as soon as a nonzero gluon condensate is postulated. The minima are connected to each other by the parity transformations and Weyl group transformations associated with the color su(3) algebra. The presence of degenerated discrete minima in the effective potential leads to the solutions of the effective Euclidean equations of motion in the form of the kink-like gauge field configurations interpolating between different minima. Spectrum of charged scalar field in the kink background is discussed.  相似文献

We introduce the concept of algebra eigenstates which are defined for an arbitrary Lie group as eigenstates of elements of the corresponding complex Lie algebra. We show that this concept unifies different definitions of coherent states associated with a dynamical symmetry group. On the one hand, algebra eigenstates include different sets of Perelomov's generalized coherent states. On the other hand, intelligent states (which are squeezed states for a system of general symmetry) also form a subset of algebra eigenstates. We develop the general formalism and apply it to theSU(2) andSU(1,1) simple Lie groups. Complete solutions to the general eigenvalue problem are found in both cases by a method that employs analytic representations of the algebra eigenstates. This analytic method also enables us to obtain exact closed expressions for quantum statistical properties of an arbitrary algebra eigenstate. Important special cases such as standard coherent states and intelligent states are examined and relations between them are studied by using their analytic representations.  相似文献

A general derivation of the coupling constant relations which result on embedding a non-simple group like SU L (2) ⇔ U(1) in a larger simple group (or graded Lie group) is given. It is shown that such relations depend only on the requirement (i) that the multiplet of vector fields form an irreducible representation of the unifying algebra and (ii) the transformation properties of the fermions under SU L (2). This point is illustrated in two ways, one by constructing two different unification groups containing the same fermions and therefore have same Weinberg angle; the other by putting different SU L (2) structures on the same fermions and consequently have different Weinberg angles. In particular the value sin2ϑ=3/8 is characteristic of the sequential doublet models or models which invoke a large number of additional leptons likeE 6, while addition of extra charged fermion singlets can reduce the value of sin2 ϑ to 1/4. We point out that at the present time the models of grand unification are far from unique.  相似文献

We discuss the one-dimensional Hubbard model, on finite sites spin chain, in context of the action of the direct product of two unitary groups SU(2)×SU(2). The symmetry revealed by this group is applicable in the procedure of exact diagonalization of the Hubbard Hamiltonian. This result combined with the translational symmetry, given as the basis of wavelets of the appropriate Fourier transforms, provides, besides the energy, additional conserved quantities, which are presented in the case of a half-filled, four sites spin chain. Since we are dealing with four elementary excitations, two quasiparticles called “spinons”, which carry spin, and two other called “holon” and “antyholon”, which carry charge, the usual spin-SU(2) algebra for spinons and the so called pseudospin-SU(2) algebra for holons and antiholons, provide four additional quantum numbers.  相似文献

The algebraSO(6,1) is considered as a unification ofSO(6), which is isomorphic toSU(4) SU(3), and the de Sitter algebraSO(4,1). The latter replaces the Poincaré algebra as the algebra of the group of motions of physical space-time. A representation ofSO(6,1) is constructed, which, on restriction toSU(3), decomposes into the direct sum of allSU(3) representations, each occurring just once in the decomposition. The expectation values of the mass-squared operator, when evaluated in the octet, give accurate mass formulae for the octets of 1 and 2+ meson resonances.  相似文献

We study the quantum model on symmetric space SU(3)/SU(2). By using the Inonu-Wigner contraction to Lie algebra su(3), we arrive at a special case of three-body Sutherland model. It has shown that by calculating conservative quantities of this model, it has Poincare Lie algebra, too.  相似文献

We give an elementary treatment of the defining representation and Lie algebra of the three-dimensional unitary unimodular groupSU(3). The geometrical properties of the Lie algebra, which is an eight dimensional real linear vector space, are developed in anSU(3) covariant manner. Thef andd symbols ofSU(3) lead to two ways of ‘multiplying’ two vectors to produce a third, and several useful geometric and algebraic identities are derived. The axis-angle parametrization ofSU(3) is developed as a generalization of that forSU(2), and the specifically new features are brought out. Application to the dynamics of three-level systems is outlined.  相似文献

We construct noncommutative principal fibrations Sθ7Sθ4 which are deformations of the classical SU(2) Hopf fibration over the four sphere. We realize the noncommutative vector bundles associated to the irreducible representations of SU(2) as modules of coequivariant maps and construct corresponding projections. The index of Dirac operators with coefficients in the associated bundles is computed with the Connes-Moscovici local index formula. “The algebra inclusion is an example of a not-trivial quantum principal bundle.”  相似文献

In this Letter we construct non-Abelian field theories employing the Faddeev-Jackiw symplectic formalism. The original Abelian fields were modified in order to introduce the non-Abelian algebra. We construct the SU(2) and SU(2)⊗U(1) Yang-Mills theories having as starting point the U(1) Maxwell electromagnetic theory.  相似文献

Nonlinear optics confronts the U(1) theory of electrodynamics with the dilemma of the existence of nonlinear fields. The U(1) group is completely linear and Abelian and causes consideration of an SU(2) theory of electrodynamics. An SU(2) theory of electrodynamics, with a B 3 magnetic field, means that physics is forced to consider an SU(2) × SU(2) electroweak theory. It is then demonstrated that the B 3 field exists on the physical vacuum defined by the Higgs symmetry breaking of this extended electroweak theory.  相似文献

In this paper, we establish the underlying quantum dynamical algebra SU(1,1) for some one-dimensional exactly solvable potentials by using the shift operators method. The connection between SU(1,1) algebra and the radial Hamiltionian problems is also discussed. PACS numbers: 03.65.Ge  相似文献
