Time-resolved excitation and emission spectra of SrF2: Er3+ upon selective excitation with synchrotron radiation in the VUV and ultrasoft x-ray ranges at T = 8 K were studied. The VUV luminescence of SrF2: Er3+ derives from high-energy interconfiguration 4f105d-4f11 transitions in the Er3+ ion. The VUV emission spectrum revealed, in addition to the 164.5-nm band (millisecond-range kinetics), a band at 146.4 nm (with a decay time of less than 600 ps). The formation of excitation spectra for the f-f and f-d transitions in the Er3+ ion is discussed.  相似文献

This paper reports on a study of the dynamics of electronic excitations in KBe2BO3F2 (KBBF) crystals by low-temperature luminescent vacuum ultraviolet spectroscopy with nanosecond time resolution under photoexcitation by synchrotron radiation. The first data have been obtained on the kinetics of photoluminescence (PL) decay, time-resolved PL spectra, time-resolved PL excitation spectra, and reflection spectra at 7 K; the estimation has been performed for the band gap E g = 10.6−11.0 eV; the predominantly excitonic mechanism for PL excitation at 3.88 eV has been identified; and defect luminescence bands at 3.03 and 4.30 eV have been revealed. The channels of generation and decay of electronic excitations in KBBF crystals have been discussed.  相似文献

The up-converting ZrO2:Yb3+,Er3+ nanomaterials were prepared with the combustion and sol–gel methods. FT-IR spectroscopy was used for analyzing the impurities. The crystal structures were characterized with X-ray powder diffraction and the mean crystallite sizes were estimated with the Scherrer formula. Up-conversion luminescence measurements were made at room temperature with IR-laser excitation at 977 nm. The IR spectra revealed the conventional and OH impurities for the combustion synthesis products. The structure of the ZrO2:Yb3+, Er3+ nanomaterials was cubic except for the minor monoclinic and tetragonal impurities obtained with the sol–gel method. The materials showed red (650–700 nm) and green (520–560 nm) up-conversion luminescence due to the 4F9/24I15/2 and (2H11/2, 4S3/2)→4I15/2 transitions of Er3+, respectively. The products obtained with the combustion synthesis exhibited the most intense luminescence intensity and showed considerable afterglow.  相似文献

Undoped and Er3+-doped glass–ceramics of composition (100−x)SiO2–xSnO2, with x = 5 or 10 and with 0.4 or 0.8 mol% of Er3+ ions, were synthesised by thermal treatment of precursor sol–gel glasses. Structural studies were developed by X-Ray Diffraction. Wide band gap SnO2 semiconductor quantum-dots embedded in the insulator SiO2 glass are obtained. The mean radius of the SnO2 nanocrystals, ranging from 2 to 3.2 nm, is comparable to the exciton Bohr radius. The luminescence properties have been analysed as a function of sample composition and thermal treatment. The results show that Er3+ ions are partially partitioned into the nanocrystalline phase. An efficient UV excitation of the Er3+ ions by energy transfer from the SnO2 nanocrystal host is observed. The Er3+ ions located in the SnO2 nanocrystals are selectively excited by this energy transfer mechanism. On the other hand, emission from the Er3+ ions remaining in the silica glassy phase is obtained by direct excitation of these ions.  相似文献

The luminescence and thermally stimulated recombination processes in lithium borate crystals Li6Gd(BO3)3 and Li6Gd(BO3)3:Ce have been studied. The steady-state luminescence spectra under X-ray excitation (X-ray luminescence), temperature dependences of the intensity of steady-state X-ray luminescence (XL), and thermally stimulated luminescence (TSL) spectra of these compounds have been investigated in the temperature range of 90–500 K. The intrinsic-luminescence 312-nm band, which is due to the 6 P J 8 S 7/2 transitions in Gd3+ matrix ions, dominates in the X-ray luminescence spectra of these crystals; in addition, there is a wide complex band at 400–420 nm, which is due to the d → f transitions in Ce3+ impurity ions. It is found that the steady-state XL intensity in these bands increases several times upon heating from 100 to 400 K. The possible mechanisms of the observed temperature dependence of the steady-state XL intensity and their correlation with the features of electronic-excitation energy transfer in these crystals are discussed. The main complex TSL peak at 110–160 K and a number of minor peaks, whose composition and structure depend on the crystal type, have been found in all crystals studied. The nature of the shallow traps that are responsible for TSL at temperatures below room temperature and their relation with defects in the lithium cation sublattice are discussed.  相似文献

The short-wave transmission spectrum of Na0.4Lu0.6F2.2 with the visible/ultraviolet transmission edge of 8 eV was studied. Absorption spectra of the 4f—5d transitions of the Ce3+ ion in the region of 4–8 eV were studied in Ce3+-doped Na0.4Lu0.6F2.2 single crystals. Luminescence spectra in the ultraviolet and visible spectral regions, luminescence decay kinetics and reflection and luminescence excitation spectra in the visible/ultraviolet and ultraviolet regions (4–20 eV) were investigated at helium and room temperatures.  相似文献

Vacuum ultraviolet luminescence of Er3+ ions in LiYF4 and BaY2F8 crystals has been investigated. It is revealed that under excitation by 193 nm radiation from an ArF excimer laser the interconfigurational 5d–4f radiative transitions in Er3+ ions are observed. It is shown that from the LiYF4:Er crystal only the spin-forbidden luminescence (λ = 165 nm) is detected, whereas both the spin-forbidden (λ = 169 nm) and spin-allowed (λ = 160.5 nm) components are observed from the BaY2F8:Er crystal.  相似文献

This paper reports on a study of the luminescence emitted by Li6Gd(BO3)3: Ce3+ crystals under selective photoexcitation to lower excited states of the host ion Gd3+ and impurity ion Ce3+ within the 100–500-K temperature interval, where the mechanisms of migration and relaxation of electronic excitation energy have been shown to undergo noticeable changes. The monotonic 10–15-fold increase in intensity of the luminescence band at 3.97 eV has been explained within a model describing two competing processes, namely, migration of electronic excitation energy over chains of Gd3+ ions and vibrational energy relaxation between the 6 I j and 6 P j levels. It has been shown that radiative transitions in Ce3+ ions from the lower excited state 5d 1 to 2 F 5/2 and 2 F 7/2 levels of the ground state produce two photoluminescence bands, at 2.08 and 2.38 eV (Ce1 center) and 2.88 and 3.13 eV (Ce2 center). Possible models of the Ce1 and Ce2 luminescence centers have been discussed.  相似文献

Single crystals of gadolinium orthosilicate Gd2SiO5 containing 0.5 at% and 5 at% of Sm3+ were grown by the Czochralski method. Optical absorption spectra, luminescence spectra and luminescence decay curves were recorded for these systems at 10 K and at room temperature. Comparison of optical spectra recorded in polarized light revealed that the anisotropy of this optically biaxial host affects the intensity distribution within absorption and emission bands related to transitions between multiplets rather than the overall band intensity. It has been found that among four bands of luminescence related to the 4G5/26HJ (J=5/2–11/2) transitions of Sm3+ in the visible and near infrared region the 4G5/26H7/2 one has the highest intensity with a peak emission cross section of 3.54×10−21 cm2 at 601 nm for light polarized parallel to the crystallographic axis c of the crystal. The luminescence decay curve recorded for Gd2SiO5:0.5 at% Sm3+ follows a single exponential time dependence with a lifetime 1.74 ms, in good agreement with the 4G5/2 radiative lifetime τ rad=1.78 ms calculated in the framework of Judd-Ofelt theory. Considerably faster and non-exponential luminescence decay recorded for Gd2SiO5:5 at% Sm3+ sample was fitted to that predicted by the Inokuti-Hirayama theory yielding the microparameter of Sm3+–Sm3+ energy transfer C da=1.264×10−52 cm6×s−1.  相似文献

We present the results of studying the luminescence properties of transparent ceramics Y3Al5O12:Yb obtained by the vacuum sintering and nanocrystalline technology. In the course of research, we measured the luminescence and luminescence excitation spectra, as well as the temperature and kinetic behavior of luminescence. Our results are analyzed in comparison with the characteristics of corresponding single crystals. We revealed that processes of generation and relaxation of electronic excitations that occur in ceramics, in particular, in the charge transfer state, are similar to processes occurring in crystals. The behavior of two charge-transfer luminescence bands at 340 and 490 nm is studied. In the range 300–600 nm, we revealed a broad emission band of radiation of other type, which is also observed in spectra of undoped ceramics. This broad band is attributed to F+ centers. Emission and excitation spectra of charge transfer luminescence at a maximum of the temperature dependence of 100 K are measured for the first time. We found that, upon excitation in the charge transfer band, luminescence in ceramics is more intense than in single crystals with similar concentrations of Yb and has a higher quenching temperature.  相似文献

An anti-Stokes luminescence band with λmax = 515 nm of microcrystals of solid AgCl0.95I0.05 solutions excited by a radiation flux of density 1013–1015 quanta/cm2·sec in the range 600–800 nm at 77 K was detected. It is shown that the intensity of this luminescence and the frequency of its excitation depend on the prior UV-irradiation of samples. Analysis of the stimulated-photoluminescence spectra and the anti-Stokes luminescence excitation spectra of the indicated microcrystals has shown that to the centers of anti-Stokes luminescence excitation correspond local levels in the forbidden band of the crystals. These states are apparently due to the atomic and molecular disperse silver particles that can be inherent in character or formed as a result of a low-temperature photochemical process. __________ Translated from Zhurnal Prikladnoi Spektroskopii, Vol. 72, No. 6, pp. 738–742, November–December, 2005.  相似文献

We have studied the effect of lead dopant on the optical absorption, photoluminescence, and x-ray luminescence spectra, and the scintillation characteristics of CdI2 at room temperature. The crystals for the study were grown by the Stockbarger-Bridgman method. Activation of CdI2 from the melt by the compound PbI2 leads to the appearance in the absorption spectra in the near-edge region of an activator band at 395–405 nm, which is interpreted as an A band connected with electronic transitions from the 1S0 state to the 3P1 levels in the Pb2+ ion. For x-ray excitation, CdI2:Pb2+ crystals with optimal dopant concentration (∼1.0 mol%) are characterized by a light yield with maximum in the 570–580 nm region that is an order of magnitude higher than for CdI2 crystals in the 490–500 nm band. For α excitation, the radioluminescence kinetics for cadmium iodide is characterized by a very short (∼0.3 nsec) rise time and fast decay of luminescence, with τ1 ≈ 4 nsec and τ2 = 10–76 nsec. Depending on the conditions under which the crystals were obtained, the fast component fraction is 95%–99%. The crystal is characterized by a similar scintillation pulse in the case of excitation by x-ray pulses. The radioluminescence pulse shape for CdI2:Pb in the decay stage is predominantly exponential, with luminescence decay time constants τ1 ≈ 10 nsec and τ2 = 200–250 nsec. This system is characterized by low afterglow, at the level for the Bi4G3O12 scintillator. We have demonstrated the feasibility of using CdI2:Pb as a scintillator for detecting α particles. This paper reports on the results of the comprehensive study of the dynamics of electronic excitations in K2Al2B2O7 (KABO) crystals, obtained by low-temperature luminescence vacuum ultraviolet spectroscopy with nanosecond time resolution upon photoexcitation by synchrotron radiation. For the first time, the data have been obtained on the photoluminescence (PL) decay kinetics, PL spectra with time resolution, PL excitation spectra with time resolution, and reflection spectra at 7 K; the intrinsic nature of PL at 3.28 eV has been established; luminescence bands of defects have been separated in the visible and ultraviolet spectral regions; an intense long-wavelength PL band has been detected at 1.72 eV; channels of the formation and decay of electronic excitations in K2Al2B2O7 crystals have been discussed.  相似文献

Thermal quenching of interconfigurational 5d-4f luminescence of Er3+ and Tm3+ ions in BaY2F8 crystals is studied in the temperature range of 330–790 K. The quenching temperatures are ~575 and ~550 K for Er3+ and Tm3+, respectively. It is shown that quenching of 5d-4f luminescence of Tm3+ ions is caused by thermally stimulated ionization of 5d electrons to the conduction band.  相似文献

The Er3+ -Yb3+ codoped in Li2O content tungsten -tellurite (TWL) transparent glasses are synthesized and measured the absorption, Raman and upconversion luminescence (UPL) spectra. At room temperature intense green emission peak at 560 nm ( 4S3/24I15/2) and red emission peak at 670 nm ( 4F9/24I15/2) of Er3+ observed even at minimum 86 mW pumping power of infrared 980 nm excitation. For structure of the TWL glass, Raman spectrum result revealed that an important role of WO3 in the formation of glass network linkage with Li2O. Under this influence estimated lifetime of the 4I11/2 of Er3+ was 1.89 μs and due to lower phonon energy of the glass produce strong upconversion signal. The effect of Er2O3 concentration on emission intensity result indicated that green emission intensity initially increase in compare to red emission. Under the 980 nm pump power variation measured the relatively increases the red emission to the green emission intensity and analyze the possible upconversion mechanism and process.  相似文献

The luminescent properties of Eu3+ and Eu2+ ions in sodium pyrophosphate, Na4P2O7, have been studied. The excitation spectrum of the Eu3+ emission in Na4P2O7 consists of several sets of bands in the range 280–535 nm due to 4f–4f transitions of Eu3+ ions and a broad band with a maximum at about 240 nm interpreted to be due to a charge transfer (CT) transition from oxygen 2p states to empty states of the Eu3+ 4f6-configuration. Although the CT band energy is large enough, the quantum efficiency (η) of the Eu3+ emission in Na4P2O7 under CT excitation was estimated to be very low (η ≤ 0.01). In terms of a configurational coordinate model, this fact is interpreted as a result of the high efficiency of a radiationless relaxation from the CT state to the 7F0 ground state of Eu3+ ions occupying sodium sites in Na4P2O7. A strong reducing agent is required in order to stabilize Eu2+ ions in Na4P2O7 during the synthesis. Several nonequivalent Eu2+ luminescence centers in Na4P2O7 were found.  相似文献

A series of tungsten-tellurite glasses activated with different concentrations (0–1.5 mol %) of Er3+ has been synthesized. The structural properties of the best luminescent sample and the optical properties of its Er3+ ions, are studied both immediate after its preparation as well as after its ageing. On ageing the glass suffers structural reorganization and generates Er2WO6—nanocrystals in the matrix, which greatly enhances the normal and upconversion green luminescence efficiency of Er3+. The nanocrystal aided enhancement of normal and upconversion luminescence of Er3+ of the glass has been attributed to the crystal field effects of the new environment of Er3+ in the nanocrystals. A phenomenon of preferential enhancement of red upconversion luminescence at the cost of green upconversion luminescence of Er3+ at its higher concentrations in the glass has been observed and the related photo-physics is proposed. The material shows the prospect of being used as NIR solar concentrator.  相似文献

The thermally stimulated recombination processes and luminescence in crystals of the lithium borate family Li6(Y,Gd,Eu)(BO3)3 have been investigated. The steady-state luminescence spectra under X-ray excitation (X-ray luminescence spectra), the temperature dependences of the X-ray luminescence intensity, and the glow curves for the Li6Gd(BO3)3, Li6Eu(BO3)3, Li6Y0.5Gd0.5(BO3)3: Eu, and Li6Gd(BO3)3: Eu compounds have been measured in the temperature range 90–500 K. In the X-ray luminescence spectra, the band at 312 nm corresponding to the 6 P J 8 S 7/2 transitions in the Gd3+ ion and the group of lines at 580–700 nm due to the 5 D 07 F J transitions (J = 0–4) in the Eu3+ ion are dominant. For undoped crystals, the X-ray luminescence intensity of these bands increases by a factor of 15 with a change in the temperature from 100 to 400 K. The possible mechanisms providing the observed temperature dependence of the intensity and their relation to the specific features of energy transfer of electronic excitations in these crystals have been discussed. It has been revealed that the glow curves for all the crystals under investigation exhibit the main complex peak with the maximum at a temperature of 110–160 K and a number of weaker peaks with the composition and structure dependent on the crystal type. The nature of shallow trapping centers responsible for the thermally stimulated luminescence in the range below room temperature and their relation to defects in the lithium cation sublattice have been analyzed.  相似文献

Polarized spectral properties of Er3+:NaGd(WO4)2 single crystal are reported. The crystal was grown by the Czochralski method. The Judd–Ofelt theory was applied to analyze the polarized absorption spectra and then calculate the spontaneous emission probabilities, radiative lifetimes, and branching ratios. Fluorescence decay curves of the 4 I 13/2, 4 I 11/2, and 4 S 3/2 multiplets for the Er3+ ions were measured. Stimulated emission cross-sections of the 4 I 13/24 I 15/2 transition obtained by the Fuchtbauer–Ladenberg formula and the reciprocity method were compared. Multi-phonon relaxation rates of the crystal were estimated. Green up-conversion fluorescence around 531 and 552 nm was observed, and the possible up-conversion mechanisms were proposed. The luminescence spectra of a KZnF3: Tl+ crystal are investigated in the energy range from 4.75 to 5.9 eV at temperatures of 10–300 K upon excitation into the A absorption band (5.7–6.3 eV). At T=300 K, the luminescence spectra exhibit an intense band with a maximum at 5.45 eV, which is attributed to single Tl+ ions substituted for K+ ions. The 5.723-eV intense narrow band observed at T<20 K is assigned to the 3Γ1u-1Γ1g zero-phonon transition, which is weakly allowed by the hyperfine interaction. The luminescence decay is studied as a function of temperature. The main characteristics of the luminescence spectra are adequately described in terms of the semiclassical theory based on the Franck-Condon principle and the Jahn-Teller effect for an excited sp configuration of the Tl+ ion with the use of the parameters obtained earlier from analyzing the absorption spectra of the system under investigation.  相似文献
