ABSTRACT

The present paper deals with the propagation of Rayleigh surface waves in homogeneous, orthotropic thermoelastic half space in the context of three-phase lag model of thermoelasticity. A vector matrix differential equation is formed by employing normal mode analysis to the considered equations which is then solved by eigenfunction expansion method. The frequency equations for different cases are derived and the path of surface particles during Rayleigh wave propagation is found elliptical. Effect of phase lags on phase velocity, attenuation coefficient, and specific loss are presented graphically with respect to frequency as well as wave number.  相似文献

This paper proposes the singular boundary method (SBM) in conjunction with Burton and Miller?s formulation for acoustic radiation and scattering. The SBM is a strong-form collocation boundary discretization technique using the singular fundamental solutions, which is mathematically simple, easy-to-program, meshless and introduces the concept of source intensity factors (SIFs) to eliminate the singularities of the fundamental solutions. Therefore, it avoids singular numerical integrals in the boundary element method (BEM) and circumvents the troublesome placement of the fictitious boundary in the method of fundamental solutions (MFS). In the present method, we derive the SIFs of exterior Helmholtz equation by means of the SIFs of exterior Laplace equation owing to the same order of singularities between the Laplace and Helmholtz fundamental solutions. In conjunction with the Burton–Miller formulation, the SBM enhances the quality of the solution, particularly in the vicinity of the corresponding interior eigenfrequencies. Numerical illustrations demonstrate efficiency and accuracy of the present scheme on some benchmark examples under 2D and 3D unbounded domains in comparison with the analytical solutions, the boundary element solutions and Dirichlet-to-Neumann finite element solutions.  相似文献

Caustics method is a powerful optical technique in fracture mechanics because of its high sensitivity to stress gradients. In this paper, it is applied to resolve dynamic fracture problems in orthotropic composites. Considering most orthotropic materials are opaque, reflective caustics method is derived here by combining the fundamental principle of caustics method with the mechanical properties of orthotropic materials. Meanwhile, corresponding experiments are carried out for typical glass fiber-reinforced composites, where mode I and mixed-mode fracture states are taken into account. By recording and analyzing shadow spot patterns during the crack propagation process carefully, crack onset time, dynamic fracture toughness and crack growth velocity of orthotropic composite are determined. These results will be useful to evaluate the dynamic fracture properties of composites and further to optimize their designs.  相似文献

This Letter presents a theoretical analysis to the fracture behavior of a large single domain YBCO superconductor under thermal stress based on the two-dimensional theory of anisotropic thermoelasticity, the coupled finite element and infinite element numerical method. The thermal stress intensity factors are obtained due to a uniform heat flux by a line crack in a generally half plane superconductor. It is found that the thermal stress intensity factors decrease with the decrease of temperature, and while the longer the crack length is, the larger the stress intensity factors. Additionally, the J-integral at the crack tip is also investigated, a similar behavior to the thermal stress intensity factors is found. These results are benefit for us to understand the fracture mechanism of superconductor both in theory and application.  相似文献

根据经典薄壳振动理论,利用有限元法对高分辨率空间相机遮光罩的结构参数进行了分析。将正交试验法与有限元法相结合,定量地分析了加强筋的数量和形状对遮光罩动力学特性的影响程度;根据模态分析的结果,考察了单个加强筋的参数对其动力学特性的影响。结果表明,加强筋的高度对结构刚度的影响最大,遮光罩的固有频率随着加强筋的数量和高度以及周向加强筋厚度的增加而增加,随着轴向加强筋的厚度的增加而减小。分析结果为高分辨率空间相机遮光罩的结构设计提供了必要的指导。  相似文献

Free flexural vibrations of homogeneous, thin, orthotropic plates of an arbitrary shape with mixed boundary conditions are studied using the R-function method. The proposed method is based on the use of the R-function theory and variational methods. In contrast to the widely used methods of the network type (finite differences, finite element, and boundary element methods), in the R-function method all the geometric information given in the boundary value problem statement is represented in an analytical form. This allows one to seek a solution in a form of some formulas called a solution structure. These solution structures contain some indefinite functional components that can be determined by using any variational method. A method of constructing the solution structures satisfying the required mixed boundary conditions for eigenvalue plate bending problems is described. Numerical examples for the vibration analysis of orthotropic plates of complex geometry with mixed boundary conditions for illustrating the aforementioned R-function method and comparison against the other methods are made to demonstrate its merits.  相似文献

A new node-pairs contact algorithm is proposed to deal with a composite material or bi-material interface crack face contact and friction problem(e.g., resistant coating and thermal barrier coatings) subjected to complicated load conditions.To decrease the calculation scale and calculation errors, the local Lagrange multipliers are solved only on a pair of contact nodes using the Jacobi iteration method, and the constraint modification of the tangential multipliers are required. After the calculation of the present node-pairs Lagrange multiplier, it is turned to next contact node-pairs until all node-pairs have finished. Compared with an ordinary contact algorithm, the new local node-pairs contact algorithm is allowed a more precise element on the contact face without the stiffness matrix singularity. The stress intensity factors(SIFs) and the contact region of an infinite plate central crack are calculated and show good agreement with those in the literature. The contact zone near the crack tip as well as its influence on singularity of stress fields are studied. Furthermore, the frictional contacts are also considered and found to have a significant influence on the SIFs. The normalized mode-II stress intensity factors K?IIfor the friction coefficient decrease by 16% when f changes from 1 to 0.  相似文献

The optical method of caustics is developed here to study the fracture of viscoelastic materials. By adopting a distribution of viscoelastic stress fields near the crack tip, the method of caustics is used to determine the viscoelastic fracture parameters from the caustic patterns near the crack tip. Two viscoelastic materials are studied. These are PMMA and ternary composites of HDPE/POE-g-MA/CaCO3. The transmitted and reflective methods of caustics are performed separately to investigate viscoelastic fracture behaviors. The stress intensity factors (SIFs) versus time is determined by a series of shadow spot patterns combined with viscoelastic parameters evaluated by creep tests. In order to understand the viscoelastic fracture mechanisms of HDPE/POE-g-MA/CaCO3 composites, their fracture surfaces are observed by a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The results indicate that the method of caustics can be used to characterize the fracture behaviors of viscoelastic materials and further to optimize the design of polymer composites.  相似文献

In this article, the propagation of guided thermoelastic waves in the circumferential direction of orthotropic cylindrical curved plates subjected to stress-free, isothermal boundary conditions is investigated in the context of the Green-Naghdi (GN) generalized thermoelastic theory (without energy dissipation). The coupled wave equations and heat conduction equation are solved by the Legendre orthogonal polynomial series expansion approach. The convergency of the method is discussed through a numerical example. The dispersion curves of thermal modes and elastic modes are illustrated simultaneously. Dispersion curves of the corresponding pure elastic cylindrical plate are also shown to analyze the influence of the thermoelasticity on elastic modes. The displacement, temperature and stress distributions are shown to discuss the differences between the elastic modes and thermal modes. A thermoelastic cylindrical plate with a different ratio of radius to thickness is considered to discuss the influence of the ratio on the characteristics of circumferential thermoelastic waves.  相似文献

Finite element method and ultrafast thermoelasticity model are combined to simulate the microbump formation irradiated by a femtosecond laser. It has been shown that the effect of microbump formation is related to the characteristic of incident femtosecond laser and the thermoelasticity properties of the film. The numerical results exhibit good agreements with the experimental results in both the shape and height of the conical microbump structure, which verify the effectiveness of the ultrafast thermoelasticity model in experiments. It should be helpful for selecting appropriate materials for nanotexturing of thin films by ultrafast lasers.  相似文献

A new condition assessment strategy of reinforced concrete (RC) beams is proposed in this paper. This strategy is based on frequency analysis of the dynamic data measured with distributed long-gage macro-stain sensors. After extracting modal macro-strain, the reference-based damage index is theoretically deducted in which the variations of modal flexural rigidity and modal neutral axis height are considered. The reference-free damage index is also presented for comparison. Both finite element simulation and experiment investigations were carried out to verify the proposed method. The manufacturing procedure of long-gage fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor chosen in the experiment is firstly presented, followed by an experimental study on the essential sensing properties of the long-gage macro-strain sensors and the results verify the excellent sensing properties, in particular the measurement accuracy and dynamic measuring capacity. Modal analysis results of a concrete beam show that the damage appearing in the beam can be well identified by the damage index while the vibration testing results of a RC beam show that the proposed method can not only capture small crack initiation but its propagation. It can be concluded that distributed long-gage dynamic macro-strain sensing technique has great potential for the condition assessment of RC structures subjected to dynamic loading.  相似文献

A boundary-type meshless method called the scaled boundary node method(SBNM) is developed to directly evaluate mixed mode stress intensity factors(SIFs) without extra post-processing.The SBNM combines the scaled boundary equations with the moving Kriging(MK) interpolation to retain the dimensionality advantage of the former and the meshless attribute of the latter.As a result,the SBNM requires only a set of scattered nodes on the boundary,and the displacement field is approximated by using the MK interpolation technique,which possesses the δ function property.This makes the developed method efficient and straightforward in imposing the essential boundary conditions,and no special treatment techniques are required.Besides,the SBNM works by weakening the governing differential equations in the circumferential direction and then solving the weakened equations analytically in the radial direction.Therefore,the SBNM permits an accurate representation of the singularities in the radial direction when the scaling center is located at the crack tip.Numerical examples using the SBNM for computing the SIFs are presented.Good agreements with available results in the literature are obtained.  相似文献

A time-domain formulation for the flexural vibrations in damped rectangular isotropic and orthotropic plates is developed, in order to investigate transient excitation of plates by means of sound synthesis. The model includes three basic mechanisms of damping (thermoelasticity, viscoelasticity and radiation) using a general differential operator. The four rigidity factors of the plate are modified by perturbation terms, each term corresponding to one specific damping mechanism. The first damping term is derived from the coupling between the thermoelastic stress-strain relations and the heat diffusion equation. The second term is obtained from the general differential formulation of viscoelasticity. The third term is obtained through a Pade approximation of the damping factor which governs the coupling of the plate with the surrounding air. The decay factors predicted by the model reproduce adequately the dependence on both dimensions and frequency of the decay factors measured on rectangular plates of various sizes and thicknesses made of four different materials (aluminum, glass, carbon fiber, and wood). The numerical resolution of the complete problem, including initial and boundary conditions, and the comparison between real and simulated sounds are presented in a companion paper.  相似文献

Asymmetric vibrations of polar orthotropic circular plates of linearly varying thickness resting on an elastic foundation of Winkler type are discussed on the basis of the classical plate theory. Ritz method has been employed to obtain the natural frequencies of vibration using the functions based upon the static deflection of polar orthotropic plates, which has faster rate of convergence as compared to the polynomial co-ordinate functions. Frequency parameter of the plate with elastically restrained edge conditions are presented for various values of taper parameter, rigidity ratio and foundation parameter. A comparison of the results with those available in the literature obtained by finite element method, receptance method and polynomial co-ordinate functions shows an excellent agreement.  相似文献

The results are compared with analytical and experimental values of other investigators. A parametric study has been done by varying the sector angle and radii ratio. To efficiently extract all the possible linear features in image, a multi-scale multi-structuring element top-hat by reconstruction operator based algorithm with simple post-processing is proposed in this paper. Multi-scale top-hat by reconstruction operator using multi-scale structuring elements is discussed, firstly. Also, through importing multi-structuring elements with linear shapes at different directions, multi-scale multi-structuring element top-hat by reconstruction operator for linear feature extraction is shown. By using the multi-scales of multi-structuring elements, the method of extracting all the possible linear feature regions in an image is proposed. After extracting the linear feature regions, the final detected linear features, which are expressed as lines with different shapes and lengths, are obtained through image binarisation and refinement. Experimental results on different types of images show that, the proposed algorithm is efficient for linear feature detection and could be widely used in different applications related to multiple linear feature detection.  相似文献

针对大跨度桥梁正交异性钢桥面板的疲劳损伤评估与结构健康监测需求,开展基于声发射波场谱元法模拟的大型复杂板类结构损伤定位研究。采用Legendre高阶插值三维时域谱元法模拟声发射波在正交异性钢桥面板中的传播过程,验证了其内部显著的反射、衍射和频散现象,并代替人工预断铅实测试验获得大量声发射数据。然后,利用赤池信息准则判定声发射波到达各传感器的时间,通过高斯过程回归建立到达时差与声发射源位置的关系模型,用于未知损伤的定位监测。数值模型实验结果表明,赤池信息准则和高斯过程回归改进的时差图法在正交异性钢桥面板中的平均定位误差为37.3 mm(25 dB信噪比工况),平板的定位精度高于U肋。谱元法模拟有望代替繁琐的预断铅实测试验,提升声发射时差图系列损伤定位方法的实用性。  相似文献

Numerous studies that address the vibration of stepped thickness plates are reported in the literature. Predominately, classical plate theory has been used to formulate studies for both isotropic and anisotropic stepped plates. Mindlin plate theory has been employed to obtain results for thick isotropic stepped thickness plates. Exact solutions, Rayleigh-Ritz, differential quadrature and finite element methods have been employed to compute results for frequency of vibration. Results for frequency of vibration for thick orthotropic stepped thickness plates are presented here using orthorhombic material properties of aragonite. The finite element method has been used to compute frequencies and determine mode shapes for simply supported and clamped square Mindlin plates.  相似文献
