In this paper we investigate the spectral exponent, i.e. logarithm of the spectral radius of operators having the form
and acting in spaces Lp(X, μ), where X is a compact topological space, φkC(X), φ = (φk)k=1NC(X)N, and are linear positive operators (Ukf≥ 0 for f≥ 0). We consider the spectral exponent ln r(Aφ) as a functional depending on vector-function φ. We prove that ln r(Aφ) is continuous and on a certain subspace of C(X)N is also convex. This yields that the spectral exponent is the Fenchel-Legendre transform of a convex functional defined on a set of continuous linear positive and normalized functionals on the subspace of coefficients φ that is

In this article, it is proved that the invariant consisting of the scaled ordered K-group and the space of tracial states, together with the natural pairing between them, is a complete invariant for the class of unital simple C *-algebras which can be expressed as the inductive limit of a sequence
with , where X n,i is a compact metrizable space and P n,i is a projection in M [n,i](C(X n,i )) for each n and i, and the spaces X n,i are of uniformly bounded finite dimension. Note that the C *-algebras in the present class are not assumed to be of real rank zero, as they were in [EG2]. Dedicated to Professor Ronald G. Douglas on the occasion of his seventieth birthday.  相似文献

Let X be a finite aspherical CW-complex whose fundamental group π 1(X) possesses a subnormal series with a non-trivial elementary amenable group G 0. We investigate the L 2-invariants of the universal covering of such a CW-complex X. The main result is the proof of the vanishing of the L 2-torsion under the condition that π 1(X) has semi-integral determinant. We further show that the Novikov–Shubin invariants are positive.  相似文献

This paper investigates the s-energy of (finite and infinite) well separated sequences of spherical designs on the unit sphere S 2. A spherical n-design is a point set on S 2 that gives rise to an equal weight cubature rule which is exact for all spherical polynomials of degree ≤n. The s-energy E s (X) of a point set of m distinct points is the sum of the potential for all pairs of distinct points . A sequence Ξ = {X m } of point sets X m S 2, where X m has the cardinality card(X m )=m, is well separated if for each pair of distinct points , where the constant λ is independent of m and X m . For all s>0, we derive upper bounds in terms of orders of n and m(n) of the s-energy E s (X m(n)) for well separated sequences Ξ = {X m(n)} of spherical n-designs X m(n) with card(X m(n))=m(n).   相似文献

To certain higher rank Cuntz algebras including the classical cases we trace a certain partial isometryU in its strong closure. AdjoiningU to we obtain a kind of uniqueness property for this largerC *-algebra. Its explanation is not entirely “Cuntz’s uniqueness argumentation”. For a site & (with enough points), we construct a topological space X(&) and a full embedding * of the category of sheaves on & into those on X (&) (i.e., a morphism of toposes :Sh (X(&)) Sh(&)). The embedding will be shown to induce a full embedding of derived categories, hence isomorphisms H*(&,A) = H*(X(&), *A) for any Abelian sheaf A on &. As a particular case, this will give for any scheme Y a topological space X (Y) and a functorial isomorphism between the étale cohomology H*(Y ét,A) and the ordinary sheaf cohomology H*(X((Y),),*A), for any sheaf A for the étale topology on Y.  相似文献

Rosso and Green have shown how to embed the positive part Uq() of a quantum enveloping algebra Uq() in a quantum shuffle algebra. In this paper we study some properties of the image of the dual canonical basis B* of Uq() under this embedding . This is motivated by the fact that when is of type Ar, the elements of (B*) are q-analogues of irreducible characters of the affine Iwahori-Hecke algebras attached to the groups GL(m) over a p-adic field.  相似文献

We define K-homology groups K * () for small C * -categories in terms of Hilbert modules over the C * -category . We also define a functor A f from the category of small C * -categories into the category of C * -algebras and show that there is a natural isomorphism . In addition, we give an easy construction of a functor from the category of C * -algebras into the category of symmetric spectra which represents K-homology, i.e. we show that the functor comes with a natural isomorphism for C * -algebras A. It then follows that the composition A f provides a functor that can be used in the Davis-Lück approach for constructing the Baum-Connes map.  相似文献

Let E be a linear space, let K E and f:K . We formulate in terms of the lower Dini directional derivative problem GMVI (f ,K ), which can be considered as a generalization of MVI (f ,K ), the Minty variational inequality of differential type. We investigate, in the case of K star-shaped (SS), the existence of a solution x * of GMVI (f K ) and the property of f to increase-along-rays starting at x *, fIAR (K,x *). We prove that the GMVI (f ,K ) with radially l.s.c. function f has a solution x * ker K if and only if fIAR (K,x *). Further, we prove that the solution set of the GMVI (f ,K ) is a convex and radially closed subset of ker K. We show also that, if the GMVI (f ,K ) has a solution x *K, then x * is a global minimizer of the problem min f(x), xK. Moreover, we observe that the set of the global minimizers of the related optimization problem, its kernel, and the solution set of the variational inequality can be different. Finally, we prove that, in the case of a quasiconvex function f, these sets coincide.  相似文献

Letr, s ∈ [0, 1], and letX be a Banach space satisfying theM(r, s)-inequality, that is,
where π X is the canonical projection fromX *** ontoX *. We show some examples of Banach spaces not containingc 0, having the point of continuity property and satisfying the above inequality forr not necessarily equal to one. On the other hand, we prove that a Banach spaceX satisfying the above inequality fors=1 admits an equivalent locally uniformly rotund norm whose dual norm is also locally uniformly rotund. If, in addition,X satisfies
wheneveru *,v *X * with ‖u *‖≤‖v *‖ and (x α * ) is a bounded weak* null net inX *, thenX can be renormed to satisfy the,M(r, 1) and theM(1, s)-inequality such thatX * has the weak* asymptotic-norming property I with respect toB X .  相似文献

The aim of this paper is to investigate the nature of bounded sets in a topological ∈-tensor product EX* F of any two locally convex topological vector spaces E and F over the same scalar field K. Next, we apply the results of this investigation to the study of each of the following:
  1. Totally summable families in EX*F;
  2. ∈-tensor product of DF-spaces;
  3. Topological nature of the dual of E X*F, where E and F are strong duals of Banach spaces;
  4. Properties of bounded sets in an ∈-tensor product of metrizable spaces.
Forπ-tensor product, the result corresponding to (b) is well known (see Grothendieck1) that if E and F are DF-spaces then EXπ* F and EXπ* F are DF-spaces and that the strong topology on the topological dual (EXπ*F)′, which equals the space of continuous bilinear forms on EXF, coincides with the bibounded topology. We study each of the problems from (a) to (d) for ∈-tensor products. For terminology, notations and the well-known results in the theory of topological vector spaces and the topological tensor products we refer to [1–11]. However, for convenience in presentation of the results of our investigation we give a brief survey of notations and fundamental theorems which are needed throughout this paper.  相似文献

We classify graph C *-algebras, namely, Cuntz-Krieger algebras associated to the Bass-Hashimoto edge incidence operator of a finite graph, up to strict isomorphism. This is done by a purely graph theoretical calculation of the K-theory of the C *-algebras and the method also provides an independent proof of the classification up to Morita equivalence and stable equivalence of such algebras, without using the boundary operator algebra. A direct relation is given between the K 1-group of the algebra and the cycle space of the graph. We thank Jakub Byszewski for his input in Sect. 2.8. The position of the unit in K 0( Ч) was guessed based on some example calculations by Jannis Visser in his SCI 291 Science Laboratory at Utrecht University College.  相似文献

Let be a field of characteristic and S 1 the unit circle. We prove that the shc-structure on a cochain algebra (A,d A ) induces an associative product on the negative cyclic homology HC * A. When the cochain algebra (A,d A ) is the algebra of normalized cochains of the simply connected topological space X with coefficients in , then HC * A is isomorphic as a graded algebra to the S 1-equivariant cohomology algebra of LX, the free loop space of X. We use the notion of shc-formality introduced in Topology 41, 85–106 (2002) to compute the S 1-equivariant cohomology algebras of the free loop space of the complex projective space when n + 1 = 0 [p] and of the even spheres S 2n when p = 2.   相似文献

Let γ be a hyperbolic closed orbit of a C 1 vector field X on a compact C manifold M of dimension n ≥ 3, and let H X(γ) be the homoclinic class of X containing γ. In this paper, we prove that C 1-generically, if H X(γ) is expansive and isolated, then it is hyperbolic.  相似文献

The notion of a U-module was introduced and thoroughly investigated in [11 Ibrahim, Y., Yousif, M. F. (2017). U-modules. Comm. Algebra, doi:https://doi.org/10.1080/00927872.2017.1339064.[Crossref] [Google Scholar]] as a strict and simultaneous generalization of quasi-continuous, square-free and automorphism-invariant modules. In this paper a right R-module M is called a U*-module if every submodule of M is a U-module, and a ring R is called a right U*-ring if RR is a U*-module. We show that M is a U*-module iff whenever A and B are submodules of M with A?B and AB = 0, AB is a semisimple summand of M; equivalently M = XY, where X is semisimple, Y is square-free, and X &; Y are orthogonal. In particular, a ring R is a right U*-ring iff R is a direct product of a square-full semisimple artinian ring and a right square-free ring. Moreover, right U*-rings are shown to be directly-finite, and if the ring is also an exchange ring then it satisfies the substitution property, has stable-range 1, and hence is stably-finite. These results are non-trivial extensions of similar ones on rings all of whose right ideals are either quasi-continuous or auto-invariant.  相似文献

We investigate R-bounded representations , where X is a Banach space and G is a lca group. Observing that Ψ induces a (strongly continuous) group homomorphism , we are then able to analyze certain classical homomorphisms U (e.g. translations in Lp (G)) from the viewpoint of R-boundedness and the theory of scalar-type spectral operators. In this article we construct a new simply connected symplectic 4-manifold with b2+=1 and c12=2 which is homeomorphic, but not diffeomorphic, to a rational surface by using rational blow-down technique. As a corollary, we conclude that a rational surface admits an exotic smooth structure. Mathematics Subject Classification (2000) 53D05, 14J26, 57R55, 57R57  相似文献

The C *-algebra generated by the n poly-Bergman and m antipoly-Bergman projections and by the operators of multiplication by piecewise continuous functions on the Lebesgue space L 2(Π) over the upper half-plane is studied. Making use of a local principle, limit operators techniques, and the Plamenevsky results on two-dimensional convolution operators with symbols admitting homogeneous discontinuities we reduce the study to simpler C *-algebras associated with points and pairs . Applying a symbol calculus for the abstract unital C *-algebras generated by N orthogonal projections sum of which equals the unit and by M = n + m one-dimensional orthogonal projections and using relations for the Gauss hypergeometric function, we study local algebras at points being the discontinuity points of coefficients. A symbol calculus for the C *-algebra is constructed and a Fredholm criterion for the operators is obtained.  相似文献

Consider the full modular group PSL2(?) with presentation 〈U,?S|U 3,?S 2〉. Motivated by our investigations on quasi-modular forms and the Minkowski question mark function (so that this paper may be considered as a necessary appendix), we are led to the following natural question. Some words in the alphabet {U, S} are equal to the unity; for example, USU 3 SU 2 is such a word of length 8, and USU 3 SUSU 3 S 3 U is such a word of length 15. We consider the following integer sequence. For each n ∈ ?0, let t(n) be the number of words in the alphabet {U, S} that equal the identity in the group. This is the new entry A265434 into the Online Encyclopedia of Integer Sequences. We investigate the generating function of this sequence and prove that it is an algebraic function over ?(x) of degree 3. As an interesting generalization, we formulate the problem of describing all algebraic functions with a Fermat property.  相似文献
