Antimony(III) is determined by means of electrolysis at ?0.40 V vs. Ag/AgCl on a gold-coated gold fibre electrode for 0.5–10 min in a redox buffer containing 0.01 M iron(II) in 0.10 M hydrochloric acid, and subsequent stripping with a constant current of 0.50μA either in 2 M hydrochloric acid or in 4 M hydrochloric acid/4 M calcium chloride. Antimony(V) is determined by the same procedure in 4 M hydrochloric acid medium. Bismuth(III) is masked by the addition of iodide to the sample prior to electrolysis. Antimony(III) and antimony(V) are determined by standard addition methods; the whole procedure including digital and graphical evaluation of the results is fully automated. The antimony(V) concentrations in the river water reference sample SLRS-1 and the seawater reference sample NASS-1 were found to be 0.63 and 0.31 μg l?1 with standard deviations of 0.046 and 0.051 μg l?1, respectively (n=15). The certified value for SLRS- 1 is 0.63±0.05 μg l?1; no certified value is available for NASS-1.  相似文献

In this flow-injection method, the total concentration of calcium and magnesium is determined by using triethanolamine/hydrochloric acid buffer (pH 7.0) and chlorphosphonazo-III (CPA-III) in the flow streams, and the concentration of calcium alone is determined by using 1.6×10?3 M hydrochloric acid and CPA-III in the flow treams. At pH 7.0, medium, the linear calibration ranges were 0–2.00 mg l?1 for both calcium and magnesium and the detection limits were each 0.02 mg l?1; at pH 2.2, the linear calibration range for calcium and the detection limit were 0.20–2.00 mg l?1 and 0.1 mg l?1, respectively. Injection rates are 200 h. The method is suitable for analyzing natural waters.  相似文献

2-Mercapto-N-2-naphtylacetamide (thionalide) on silica gel is used for differential preconcentration of μg l?1 levels of arsenic(III) and arsenic(V) from aqueous solution. In batch experiments, arsenic(III) was quantitatively retained on the gel from solutions of pH 6.5–8.5, but arsenic(V) and organic arsenic compounds were not retained. The chelating capacity of the gel was 5.6 μmol g?1 As(III) at pH 7.0. Arsenic retained on teh column was completely eluted with 25 ml of 0.01 M sodium borate in 0.01 M sodium hydroxide containing 10 mg l?1 iodine (pH 10). The arsenic was determined by silver diethyldithiocarbamate spectrophotometry. Arsenic(V) was subsequently determined after reduction to arsenic(III) with sulphite and iodide. Arsenic(III) and arsenic(V) in sea water are shown to be < 0.12 and 1.6 μg l?1, respectively.  相似文献

A method is described for the determination of vanadium and molybdenum in samples of tap and bottled mineral water. After acidification with citric acid the water sample is heated to about 80°C to remove CO2; sodium citrate and ascorbic acid are added and the resulting solution of pH 3 is passed through a column of the strongly basic anion-exchange resin Dowex 1-X8 (citrate form) on which both vanadium and molybdenum are adsorbed as anionic citrate complexes. Vanadium is eluted with 6 M hydrochloric acid; molybdenum is recovered with 2 M perchloric acid-1 M hydrochloric acid. Vanadium and molybdenum are determined in the eluates by atomic-absorption spectrometry. The samples analysed contained 0.1–0.9 μg l?1 vanadium and 0.2–13 μg l?1 molybdenum.  相似文献

An automated (24 samples/hour) procedure is described for the determination of lead (0–1000 μg l?1) in human blood based on flow-injection stripping potentiometry. The samples are diluted 20-fold with 0.5 M hydrochloric acid containing 100 mg l?1 mercury and 40 μg l?1 cadmium (II), and a 1.1 ml aliquot is injected into the flow system. With a mercury-coated carbon fibre as working electrode, lead (II) is determined by using cadmium (II) as internal standard and a calibration graph prepared from bovine blood. Analyses of two human blood reference samples yielded results of 335±37 and 691±24 μg l?1 lead, the certified values being 332 and 663 μg l?1, respectively.  相似文献

Abstract

A simple and inexpensive method for determining chromium (VI) in drinking water by spectrophotometry after preconcentration with sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) coated alumina column is described. Chromium(VI) is reacted with diphenylcarbazide (DPC) and the Cr-DPC complex is quantitatively adsorbed onto a SDS coated alumina column from 800 ml of sample solution. The complex is then eluted with a 8 ml mixture of methanol, acetone and hydrochloric acid and determined by spectrophotometry. Total chromium can be determined after oxidation of chromium (III) to chromium (VI) by KMnO4. The relative standard deviation (10 replicate analyses) at the 10 μg l?1 of chromium (VI) and 10 μg l?1 of total chromium were 3.5% and 3.4% and corresponding limits of detection (based on 3 σ) were 0.040 μg l?1 and 0.033 μg l?1, respectively.  相似文献

2-Mercapto-N-2-naphthylacetamide (thionalide) on silica gel is used for rapid preconcentration of μg l?1 levels of palladium(II) from aqueous solution, followed by atomic absorption spectrometric measurement. In batch experiments, palladium was quantitatively retained on the gel from solutions 5 M in acid to pH 8; equilibrium was achieved within 10 s. The chelating capacity of the gel was 7.5 μmol Pd g?1 at pH < 4. The effect of flow rate on retention was studied. Palladium retained on the column was completely eluted with 20 ml of 0.2 M thiourea in 0.1 M hydrochloric acid. The palladium concentration in sea water is shown to be < 0.3 μg l?1.  相似文献

A method is described for the routine determination of gold as its chloride or cyanide complex by anodic stripping voltammetry at a glassy carbon electrode coupled to a microprocessor-controlled voltammeter. The preferred supporting electrolyte is 0.1 M HCl/0.32 M HNO3, with plating at ?200 mV or ?1200 mV (vs. Ag/AgCl). The stripping peak potentials range from 830 to 1150 mV (vs. Ag/AgCl) depending on concentration and plating time. Precision (percent relative standard deviation) is better than 5 % for a range of concentrations between 5 μg l?1 and 1000 μg l?1. The detection limit is about 5 μg l?1 for a 5-min plating period. Interferences from Cu, Hg, Ag and other electroactive species are overcome by preliminary extraction with diethyl ether.  相似文献

At concentrations above 50 μg l?1, silver(I) is determined in nitric acid medium by means of potentiostatic deposition onto a platinum-fibre electrode and subsequent constant-current stripping in the sample or potentiometric stripping in a potassium permanganate medium. Interference from copper(II) is reduced by a pulsed potential procedure whereby copper deposited onto the fibre electrode is reoxidized intermittently. At concentrations below 50 μg l?1, silver(I) is determined by using a mercury-coated carbon-fibre electrode and constant-current stripping in acetonitrile containing 0.20 M perchloric acid. Potentiostatic deposition for 30 min yielded a detection limit of 0.24 μg l?1 silver(I) at the 3σ level.  相似文献

Mercury(II) chloride is used to precipitate free sulphide from <10-ml samples of anoxic water. The sulphide-free supernatant solution can be used for estimation of sulphide by measuring the concentration of unreacted mercury(II) ion and for determinations of sulphate, inorganic phosphate, ammonia and nitrite by spectrophotometric methods which normally cannot be used because of sulphide interference. Concentrations that can be determined lie within the ranges: sulphide 0.5–180 000 μg S l?1, sulphate 0.024–2.77 g S l?1, ammonia 1–70 000 μg N l?1, nitrite 1–3000 μg N l?1, inorganic phosphate 1–4000 μg P l?1. Interstitial waters from estuarine sediments, tidal flats, mangrove swamps, and an anoxic estuarine basin were examined.  相似文献

A tubular PVC membrane electrode for calcium without inner reference solution and a device for location of the reference electrode are described. In the flow-injection system, calcium is determined potentiometrically and then magnesium is determined by atomic absorption spectrometry. The electrode provides linear response to calcium in the range 5 × 10?5/2-10?1 M. On-line dilution of the sample allows magnesium determination in the range 0/2-10 mg l?. Flow rates between 3 and 6 ml min?1 are possible. The sampling frequency is 60/2-90 h?1.  相似文献

Total arsenic in sea water is determined in a fully automated flow system, by means of potentiostatic deposition for 4 min at a 25-μm gold fibre electrode and subsequent constant-current stripping in 5 M hydrochloric acid. Previously the sample is acidified with hydrochloric and arsenic(V) is reduced to arsenic(III) with iodide. During stripping, the potential vs. time transient is recorded with a real-time measurement rate of 26.5 kHz and a potential resolution of 1 mV. Cleaning and regeneration of the gold electrode are fully automated. The total arsenic concentrations in two reference sea waters (NASS-1 and CASS-1) were evaluated by single-point standard addition and found to be 1.58 and 1.14 μg l?1 with standard deviations of 0.39 and 0.28 μg l?1, respectively; certified values are 1.65 ± 0.19 and 1.04 ± 0.07 μg l?1. The arsenic(III) content in these samples was below the detection limit (0.15 μg l?1).  相似文献

A method is described for the determination of total tin in silicate rocks utilizing a graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometer with a stabilized-temperature platform furnace and Zeeman-effect background correction. The sample is decomposed by lithium metaborate fusion (3 + 1) in graphite crucibles with the melt being dissolved in 7.5% hydrochloric acid. Tin extractions (4 + 1 or 8 + 1) are executed on portions of the acid solutions using a 4% solution of trioctylphosphine oxide in methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK). Ascorbic acid is added as a reducing agent prior to extraction. A solution of diammonium hydrogenphosphate and magnesium nitrate is used as a matrix modifier in the graphite furnace determination. The limit of detection is > 10 pg, equivalent to > 1 μg l?1 of tin in the MIBK solution or 0.2–0.3 μg g?1 in the rock. The concentration range is linear between 2.5 and 500 μg l?1 tin in solution. The precision, measured as relative standard deviation, is < 20% at the 2.5 μg l?1 level and < 7% at the 10–30 μg l?1 level of tin. Excellent agreement with recommended literature values was found when the method was applied to the international silicate rock standards BCR-1, PCC-1, GSP-1, AGV-1, STM-1, JGb-1 and Mica-Fe. Application was made to the determination of tin in geological core samples with total tin concentrations of the order of 1 μg g?1 or less.  相似文献

Small amounts of phosphate (0.08–1.16 μg ml-1) and larger amounts of silicate (12–60 μg ml-1) can be determined simultaneously by a kinetic method based on the difference in the rates of the heteropoly blue formation with molybdenum (V)—molybdenum (VI) mixtures in 0.28 M perchloric acid. The interference of large amounts of iron(III) on the determination of phosphate can be eliminated by masking with sodium hydrogen sulfite; this method is applicable to reagent-grade iron(III) chloride.  相似文献

A very sensitive electrochemical stripping procedure for aluminum is reported. Accumulation is achieved by controlled adsorption of the aluminum/solochrome violet RS complex on the static mercury drop electrode. Optimal experimental parameters include an accumulation potential of ?0.45 V, solochrome violet RS concentration of 1 × 10?6 M, and a linear-scan stripping mode. The detection limit is 0.15 μg l?1, the response is linear over the 0–30 μg l?1 concentration range, and the relative standard deviation (at the 10 μg l?1 level) is 2%. Most cations do not interfere in the determination of aluminum. The interference of iron(III) is eliminated by addition of ascorbic acid. Results are reported for snow samples.  相似文献

The solubility of tri-n-octylamine (TOA) in water and phosphoric acid is reported. Equilibration is achieved by circulating the solutioin through PVC pieces saturated with the absorbed amine in a glass tube. The dissolved TOA is determined by capillary gas chromatography which can detect amine concentrations down to 10 μg l?1. The solubility of TOA in water is 0.039 mg l?1 and in 5.5 M phosphoric acid 0.82 mg l?1; these values are much lower than those reported in the literature.  相似文献

Ascorbic acid may be determined spectrophotometrically at 360 nm based on reduction of vanadotungstophosphoric acid using flow-injection analysis. The carrier stream was distilled water and the reagent streams were buffer solution (pH 3.0), 1.735 × 10?3 M dodecatungstophosphoric acid and 1.735 × 10?3 M sodium vanadate. The injection rate was 80 h?1. The calibration graph was linear up to 80 μg ml?1 ascorbic acid and the relative standard deviation for the determination of 20 μg ml?1 ascorbic acid was 1.5% (n=10). The detection limit was 1.0 μg ml?1 ascorbic acid, based on an injection volume of 250 μl. The system was applied to the determination of ascorbic acid in vitamin C tablets.  相似文献

2-(5-Bromo-2-pyridylazo)-5-(N-propyl-N-sulfopropylamino)aniline rapidly forms a water-soluble complex with palladium in an acetate-buffered medium at pH 3.2.The molar absorptivity of the complex is 9.84×104l mol?1 at 612 nm. The calibration graph is linear over the range of 10–100 μg l?1 palladium; the detection limit is 2 μg l?1 and the relative standard deviation is 0.6% for 100 μg l?1 palladium. The sample throughput is 50 h?1. Divalent transition metals (Fe, Ni, Co) do not interfere at levels from 2 to 10 mg l?1. Interference from copper is prevented by adding 10?3 M EDTA solution to the carrier stream. Palladium in solutions of catalysts and dental alloys can be determined selectively, sensitively and rapidly.  相似文献

Selenium(IV), in the concentration range 2–100 μg l?1 in contaminated waters, is determined by using the sensitive adsorption-controlled peak obtained by differential pulse polarography in dilute acid solution. Interfering heavy metals are removed on Chelex-100 resin. Selenium(VI) is not electroactive but can be determined after photolytic reduction in the absence of oxygen. Anion-exchange preconcentration is necessary if the total selenium is below the detection limit of 2 μg l?1.  相似文献

Mercury in air was determined after collection in potassium permanganate or sodium carbonate solution. The mercury concentration in these solutions was determined in a computerized flow potentiometric stripping analyzer with a 10-μm gold fibre working electrode, a glassy carbon reference electrode and a platinum counter electrode. After sample electrolysis for 1–10 min, stripping was done in a 1 mg l?1 gold(III) solution in 0.01 M nitric acid/0.01 M sodium nitrate with a constant stripping current of 0.50 μA. Results obtained for flue gas samples were in good agreement with results from cold-vapor atomic absorption spectrometry.  相似文献
