In this paper, the dynamics of an inclined impact oscillator under periodic excitation are investigated using the flow switchability theory of the discontinuous dynamical systems. Different domains and boundaries for such system are defined according to the impact discontinuity. Based on above domains and boundaries, the analytical conditions of the stick motions and grazing motions for the inclined impact oscillator are obtained mathematically, from which it can be seen that such oscillator has more complicated and rich dynamical behaviors. The numerical simulations are given to illustrate the analytical results of complex motions, and several period-1 motions period-2 motion and chaotic motion of the ball in the inclined impact oscillator are also presented. There are more theories about such impact pair to be discussed in future.  相似文献

Bifurcations and Chaos in Duffing Equation   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
The Duffing equation with even-odd asymmetrical nonlinear-restoring force and one external forcingis investigated. The conditions of existence of primary resonance,second-order,third-order subharmonics,m-order subharmonics and chaos are given by using the second-averaging method, the Melnikov method andbifurcation theory.Numerical simulations including bifurcation diagram, bifurcation surfaces and phase portraitsshow the consistence with the theoretical analysis. The numerical results also exhibit new dynamical behaviorsincluding onset of chaos, chaos suddenly disappearing to periodic orbit, cascades of inverse period-doublingbifurcations,period-doubling bifurcation, symmetry period-doubling bifurcations of period-3 orbit,symmetry-breaking of periodic orbits, interleaving occurrence of chaotic behaviors and period-one orbit,a great abundanceof periodic windows in transient chaotic regions with interior crises and boundary crisis and varied chaoticattractors. Our results show that many dynamical behaviors are strictly departure from the behaviors of theDuffing equation with odd-nonlinear restoring force.  相似文献

In this paper, the chaotic synchronization of the Duffing oscillator and controlled pendulum is investigated. From the analytical conditions developed in [1], the partial and full synchronizations of the controlled pendulum with chaotic motions in the Duffing oscillator are discussed. Compared with the periodic synchronization, in the chaotic synchronization, switching points for appearance and vanishing of the partial synchronization are chaotic. The control parameter map for the synchronization is developed from the analytical conditions, and the partial and full synchronizations are illustrated to show the analytical conditions. This synchronization is different from the controlled Duffing oscillator synchronizing with chaotic motion in the periodically excited pendulum. For a better understanding of synchronization characteristics between two different dynamical systems, effects with other parameters will be discussed later.  相似文献

In this paper, periodic and chaotic synchronizations between two distinct dynamical systems under specific constraints are investigated from the theory of discontinuous dynamical systems. The analytical conditions for the sinusoidal synchronization of the pendulum and Duffing oscillator were obtained, and the invariant domain of sinusoidal synchronization is achieved. From analytical conditions, the control parameter map is developed. Numerical illustrations for partial and full sinusoidal synchronizations of chaotic and periodic motions of the controlled pendulum with the Duffing oscillator are carried out. This paper presents how to apply the theory of discontinuous dynamical systems to dynamical system synchronization with specific constraints. The function synchronization of two distinct dynamical systems with specific constraints should be identified only by G-functions. The significance of function synchronization of distinct dynamical systems is to make the synchronicity behaviors hidden, which is very useful for telecommunication synchronization and network security.  相似文献

The Poincare mapping and the corresponding mapping sections for global motions in a linear system possessing a dead-zone restoring force are introduced through switching planes pertaining to two constraints. The global periodic motions based on the Poincare mapping are determined, and the eigenvalue analysis for the stability and bifurcation of periodic motion is carried out. Global chaos in such a system is investigated numerically from the unstable global periodic motions analytically determined. The bifurcation scenario with varying parameters is presented. The mapping structures of periodic and chaotic motions are discussed. The Poincare mapping sections for global chaos are given for illustration. The grazing phenomenon embedded in chaotic motion is observed in this investigation.  相似文献

In this paper, the analytical conditions for a periodically forced Duffing oscillator synchronized with a chaotic pendulum are developed through the theory of discontinuous dynamical systems. From the analytical conditions, the synchronization invariant domains are developed. For a better understanding of synchronization of two different dynamical systems, the partial and full synchronizations of the Duffing oscillator with the chaotic pendulum are presented for illustrations. The control parameter map is developed from the analytical conditions. Under special parameters, the two systems can be fully and partially synchronized. Since the forced pendulum has librational and rotational chaotic motions, the periodically forced Duffing oscillator can be synchronized only with the librational chaotic motions of the pendulum. It is impossible for the forced Duffing oscillator to be synchronized with the rotational chaotic motions.  相似文献

An improvement of the recently described resonant chaos control method is suggested. Negative feedback loop containing a notch-rejection filter, tuned to the main harmonic of the unstable periodic orbit, is supplemented with a set of notch filters tuned to the higher harmonics. The extended method is applied to an electrical circuit representing the Duffing–Holmes type non-autonomous two-well chaotic oscillator. Stabilization of the period-1 orbit is achieved with very small control force. The residual control signal is about 1% compared to the main variable. Mathematical model based on a two-well piecewise parabolic potential is presented and numerical simulation is performed. Numerical results are confirmed by hardware experiments.  相似文献

This paper presents an analysis of the dynamical behaviour of a non-symmetric oscillator with piecewise-linearity. The Chen–Langford (C–L) method is used to obtain the averaged system of the oscillator. Using this method, the local bifurcation and the stability of the steady-state solutions are studied. A Runge–Kutta method, Poincaré map and the largest Lyapunov’s exponent are used to detect the complex dynamical phenomena of the system. It is found that the system with piecewise-linearity exhibits periodic oscillations, period-doubling, period-3 solution and then chaos. When chaos is found, it is detected by examining the phase plane, bifurcation diagram and the largest Lyapunov’s exponent. The results obtained in this paper show that the vibration system with piecewise-linearity do exhibit quite similar dynamical behaviour to the discrete system given by the logistic map.  相似文献

Stochastic chaos discussed here means a kind of chaotic responses in a Duffing oscillator with bounded random parameters under harmonic excitations. A system with random parameters is usually called a stochastic system. The modifier ‘stochastic’ here implies dependent on some random parameter. As the system itself is stochastic, so is the response, even under harmonic excitations alone. In this paper stochastic chaos and its control are verified by the top Lyapunov exponent of the system. A non-feedback control strategy is adopted here by adding an adjustable noisy phase to the harmonic excitation, so that the control can be realized by adjusting the noise level. It is found that by this control strategy stochastic chaos can be tamed down to the small neighborhood of a periodic trajectory or an equilibrium state. In the analysis the stochastic Duffing oscillator is first transformed into an equivalent deterministic nonlinear system by the Gegenbauer polynomial approximation, so that the problem of controlling stochastic chaos can be reduced into the problem of controlling deterministic chaos in the equivalent system. Then the top Lyapunov exponent of the equivalent system is obtained by Wolf’s method to examine the chaotic behavior of the response. Numerical simulations show that the random phase control strategy is an effective way to control stochastic chaos.  相似文献

The behaviors of system which alternate between Duffing oscillator and van der Pol oscillator are investigated to explore the influence of the switches on dynamical evolutions of system. Switches related to the state and time are introduced, upon which a typical switched model is established. Poincaré map of the whole switched system is defined by suitable local sections and local maps, and the formal expression of its Jacobian matrix is obtained. The location of the fixed point and associated Floquet multipliers are calculated, based on which two-parameter bifurcation sets of the switched system are obtained, dividing the parameter space into several regions corresponding to different types of attractors. It is found that cascading of period-doubling bifurcations may lead the system to chaos, while fold bifurcations determine the transition between period-3 solution and chaotic movement.  相似文献

In the bi-dimensional parameter space of driven oscillators, shrimp-shaped periodic windows are immersed in chaotic regions. For two of these oscillators, namely, Duffing and Josephson junction, we show that a weak harmonic perturbation replicates these periodic windows giving rise to parameter regions correspondent to periodic orbits. The new windows are composed of parameters whose periodic orbits have the same periodicity and pattern of stable and unstable periodic orbits already existent for the unperturbed oscillator. Moreover, these unstable periodic orbits are embedded in chaotic attractors in phase space regions where the new stable orbits are identified. Thus, the observed periodic window replication is an effective oscillator control process, once chaotic orbits are replaced by regular ones.  相似文献

A global symmetric period-1 approximate solution is analytically constructed for the non-resonant periodic response of a periodically excited piecewise nonlinear–linear oscillator. The approximate solutions are found to be in good agreement with the exact solutions that are obtained from the numerical integration of the original equations. In addition, the dynamic behaviour of the oscillator is numerically investigated with the help of bifurcation diagrams, Lyapunov exponents, Poincare maps, phase portraits and basins of attraction. The existence of subharmonic and chaotic motions and the coexistence of four attractors are observed for some combinations of the system parameters.  相似文献

In this paper, synchronization dynamics of two different dynamical systems is investigated through the theory of discontinuous dynamical systems. The necessary and sufficient conditions for the synchronization, de-synchronization and instantaneous synchronization (penetration or grazing) are presented. Using such a synchronization theory, the synchronization of a controlled pendulum with the Duffing oscillator is systematically discussed as a sampled problem, and the corresponding analytical conditions for the synchronization are presented. The synchronization parameter study is carried out for a better understanding of synchronization characteristics of the controlled pendulum and the Duffing oscillator. Finally, the partial and full synchronizations of the controlled pendulum with periodic and chaotic motions are presented to illustrate the analytical conditions. The synchronization of the Duffing oscillator and pendulum are investigated in order to show the usefulness and efficiency of the methodology in this paper. The synchronization invariant domain is obtained. The technique presented in this paper should have a wide spectrum of applications in engineering. For example, this technique can be applied to the maneuvering target tracking, and the others.  相似文献

Chaos control by harmonic excitation with proper random phase   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
Chaos control may have a dual function: to suppress chaos or to generate it. We are interested in a kind of chaos control by exerting a weak harmonic excitation with random phase. The dual function of chaos control in a nonlinear dynamic system, whether a suppressing one or a generating one, can be realized by properly adjusting the level of random phase and determined by the sign of the top Lyapunov exponent of the system response. Two illustrative examples, a Duffing oscillator subject to a harmonic parametric control and a driven Murali-Lakshmanan-Chua (MLC) circuit imposed with a weak harmonic control, are presented here to show that the random phase plays a decisive role for control function. The method for computing the top Lyapunov exponent is based on Khasminskii's formulation for linearized systems. Then, the obtained results are further verified by the Poincare map analysis on dynamical behavior of the system, such as stability, bifurcation and chaos. Both two methods lead to fully consistent results.  相似文献

An impact oscillator with a frictional slider is considered. The basic function of the investigated system is to overcome the frictional force and move downwards. Based on the analysis of the oscillatory and progressive motions of the system, we introduce an impact Poincaré map with dynamical variables defined at the impact instants. The nonlinear dynamics of the impact system with a frictional slider is analyzed by using the impact Poincaré map. The stability and bifurcations of single-impact periodic motions are analyzed, and some information about the existence of other types of periodic-impact motions is provided. Since the system equilibrium is moving downwards, one way to monitor the progression rate is to calculate its progression in a finite time. The simulation results show that in a finite time, the largest progression of the system is found to occur for period-1 multi-impact motions existing in the regions of low forcing frequencies. Secondly, the progression of the period-1 single-impact motion with peak-impact velocity is also distinct enough. However, it is important to note, that the largest progression for period-1 multi-impact motion existing at a low forcing frequency is not an optimal choice for practical engineering applications. The greater the number of the impacts in an excitation period, the more distinct the adverse effects such as high noise levels and wear and tear caused by impacts. As a result, the progression of the period-1 single-impact motion with the peak-impact velocity is still optimal for practical applications. The influence of parameter variations on the oscillatory and progressive motions of the impact-progressive system are elucidated accordingly, and feasible parameter regions are provided.  相似文献

Two vibroimpact systems are considered, which can exhibit symmetrical double-impact periodic motions under suitable system parameter conditions. Dynamics of such systems are studied by use of maps derived from the equations of motion, between impacts, supplemented by transition conditions at the instants of impacts. Two-parameter bifurcations of fixed points in the vibroimpact systems, associated with 1:2 strong resonance, are analyzed. Interesting features like Neimark–Sacker bifurcation of period-1 double-impact symmetrical motion, tangent bifurcation of period-2 four-impact motion, period-doubling bifurcation of period-2 four-impact motion and Neimark–Sacker bifurcation of period-4 eight-impact motion, etc., are found to occur near 1:2 resonance point of a vibroimpact system. The quasi-periodic attractor, associated with the fixed point of period-1 double-impact symmetrical motion, is destroyed as a tangent bifurcation of fixed points of period-2 four-impact motion occurs. However, for the other vibroimpact system the quasi-periodic attractor is restored via the collision of stable and unstable fixed points of period-2 four-impact motion. The results mean that there exist possibly more complicated bifurcation sequences of period-two cycle near 1:2 resonance points of non-linear dynamical systems.  相似文献

The discontinuous dynamics of a non-linear, friction-induced, periodically forced oscillator is studied. The analytical conditions for motion switchability at the velocity boundary in such a nonlinear oscillator are developed to understand the motion switching mechanism. Using such analytical conditions of motion switching, numerical predictions of the switching scenarios varying with excitation frequency and amplitude are carried out, and the parameter maps for specific periodic motions are presented. Chaotic and periodic motions are illustrated through phase planes and switching sections for a better understanding of motion mechanism of the nonlinear friction oscillator. The periodic motions with switching in such a nonlinear, frictional oscillator cannot be obtained from the traditional analysis (e.g., perturbation and harmonic balance method).  相似文献

A two-degree-of-freedom plastic impact oscillator is considered. Based on the analysis of sticking and non-sticking impact motions of the system, we introduce a three-dimensional impact Poincaré map with dynamical variables defined at the impact instants. The plastic impacts complicate the dynamic responses of the impact oscillator considerably. Consequently, the piecewise property and singularity are found to exist in the three-dimensional map. The piecewise property is caused by the transitions of free flight and sticking motions of two masses immediately after impact, and the singularity of the map is generated via the grazing contact of two masses and the instability of their corresponding periodic motions. The nonlinear dynamics of the plastic impact oscillator is analyzed by using the Poincaré map. The simulated results show that the dynamic behavior of this system is very complex under parameter variation, varying from different types of sticking or non-sticking periodic motions to chaos. Suppressing bifurcation and chaotic-impact motions is studied by using an external driving force, delay feedback and damping control law. The effectiveness of these methods is demonstrated by the presentation of examples of suppressing bifurcations and chaos for the plastic impact oscillator.  相似文献

In this study, the homotopy analysis method is developed to give periodic solutions of delayed differential equations that describe time-delayed position feedback on the Duffing system. With this technique, some approximate analytical solutions of high accuracy for some possible solutions are captured, which agree well with the numerical solutions in the whole time domain. Two examples of dynamic systems are considered, focusing on the periodic motions near a Hopf bifurcation of an equilibrium point. It is found that the current technique leads to higher accurate prediction on the local dynamics of time-delayed systems near a Hopf bifurcation than the energy analysis method or the traditional method of multiple scales.  相似文献

A new iteration method for nonlinear vibrations has been developed by decomposing the periodic solution in two parts corresponding to low and high harmonics. For a nonlinear forced oscillator, the iteration schema is proposed with different formulations for these two parts. Then, the schema is deduced by using the harmonic balance technique. This method has proven to converge to the periodic solutions provided that a convergence condition is satisfied. The convergence is also demonstrated analytically for linear oscillators. Moreover, the new method has been applied to Duffing oscillators as an example. The numerical results show that each iteration schema converges in a domain of the excitation frequency and it can converge to different solutions of the nonlinear oscillator.  相似文献
