The reaction mechanism of the Cu atom with OCS and CO2 has been studied by means of density functional method (B3LYP). The overall energetics has been refined at the CCSD(T) level. In the case of the Cu + OCS reaction, the CS insertion route is found much more favorable than the CO insertion one. This later reaction is direct and involves an activation energy of 83.3 kcal/mol and is endothermic by 50.0 kcal/mol at the CCSD(T) level. The insertion into the CS bond proceeds through the eta1s and eta2cs coordination species as intermediates and is found exothermic by about 20 kcal/mol. The highest transition structure along this route is only 11.5 kcal/mol higher in energy than the reactant's ground states. In the case of the Cu + CO2 reaction, the insertion route into the CO bond is also found direct but with a lower endothermicity (30.6 kcal/mol) and smaller activation energy (61.1 kcal/mol) than that into the CO bond of OCS. In all cases, the insertion mechanism proceeds simultaneously with electron transfer from the Cu atom to OCS (or CO2) molecule.  相似文献

Maleimide serves as an important starting material in the synthesis of drugs and enzyme inhibitors. In the present paper, knowing the importance of tautomerization in maleimide for its drug action, potential energy surface of maleimide is studied and its tautomerization has been discussed and compared with tautomerization of formamide. Gas phase tautomerization of maleimide requires large amount of energy (23·21 kcal/mol) in comparison to formamide (15·05 kcal/mol) at HF/6-31+G* level. Thus making the proton transfer reaction a difficult process in gas phase. Water molecule lowers the energy barrier of tautomerization thus facilitating the tautomerization of maleimide to 5-hydroxy-pyrrol-2-one. Water assisted tautomerization of maleimide requires 19·60 kcal/mol energy at HF/6-31+G* and 17·63 kcal/mol energy at B3LYP/6-31+G* level, a decrease of 3·61 and 5·96 kcal/mol over gas phase tautomerization. Whereas, tautomerization of formamide requires 14·16 and 12·84 kcal/mol energy, a decrease of 0·89 and 2·01 kcal/mol energy over gas phase tautomerization at HF/6-31+G* and B3LYP/6-31+G* level, respectively. Water-assisted tautomerization in maleimide and formamide showed that difference in energy barrier reduces to 2·83 kcal/mol from 10·41 kcal/mol (in gas phase) at B3LYP level, which resulted that maleimide readily undergoes tautomerization in water molecule.  相似文献

Density functional (B3LYP) calculations, using the 6-31G basis set, have been employed to study the title reactions. For the model reaction (H(2)C=C-NH(+)=CH(2) + H(2)C=CH(2)), a complex has been formed with 6.2 kcal/mol of stabilization energy and the transition state is 4.0 kcal/mol above this complex, but 2.1 kcal/mol below the reactants. However, the substituent effects are quite remarkable. When ethene is substituted by electron-withdrawing group CN, the reaction could also yield six-membered-ring products, but the energy barriers are all more than 7 kcal/mol, which shows that CN group unfavors the reaction. The other substituents, such as CH(3)O and CH(3) groups, have also been considered in the present work, and the results show that they are favorable for the formation of six-membered-ring adducts. The calculated results have been rationalized with frontier orbital interaction and topological analysis.  相似文献

The dehydrogenation reaction of H2S by the 3∑- ground state of VS+: VS+ + H2S → VS2+ + H2 has been studied by using Density Functional Theory (DFT) at the B3LYP/DZVP level. It is found that the reaction proceeds along two possible pathways (A and B) yielding two isomer dehydrogenation products VS2+-1 (3B2) and VS2+-2 (3A1), respectively. For both pathways, the reaction has a two-step-reaction mechanism that involves the migration of two hydrogen atoms from S2 to V+, respectively. The migration of the second hydrogen via TS3 and that of the first via TS4 are the rate-determining steps for pathways A and B, respectively. The activation energy is 17.4 kcal/mol for pathway A and 22.8 kcal/mol for pathway B relative to the reactants. The calculated reaction heat of 9.9 kcal/mol indicates the endothermicity of pathway A and that of -11.9 kcal/mol suggests the exothermicity of pathway B.  相似文献

Thermochemical parameters of carbonic acid and the stationary points on the neutral hydration pathways of carbon dioxide, CO 2 + nH 2O --> H 2CO 3 + ( n - 1)H 2O, with n = 1, 2, 3, and 4, were calculated using geometries optimized at the MP2/aug-cc-pVTZ level. Coupled-cluster theory (CCSD(T)) energies were extrapolated to the complete basis set limit in most cases and then used to evaluate heats of formation. A high energy barrier of approximately 50 kcal/mol was predicted for the addition of one water molecule to CO 2 ( n = 1). This barrier is lowered in cyclic H-bonded systems of CO 2 with water dimer and water trimer in which preassociation complexes are formed with binding energies of approximately 7 and 15 kcal/mol, respectively. For n = 2, a trimeric six-member cyclic transition state has an energy barrier of approximately 33 (gas phase) and a free energy barrier of approximately 31 (in a continuum solvent model of water at 298 K) kcal/mol, relative to the precomplex. For n = 3, two reactive pathways are possible with the first having all three water molecules involved in hydrogen transfer via an eight-member cycle, and in the second, the third water molecule is not directly involved in the hydrogen transfer but solvates the n = 2 transition state. In the gas phase, the two transition states have comparable energies of approximately 15 kcal/mol relative to separated reactants. The first path is favored over in aqueous solution by approximately 5 kcal/mol in free energy due to the formation of a structure resembling a (HCO 3 (-)/H 3OH 2O (+)) ion pair. Bulk solvation reduces the free energy barrier of the first path by approximately 10 kcal/mol for a free energy barrier of approximately 22 kcal/mol for the (CO 2 + 3H 2O) aq reaction. For n = 4, the transition state, in which a three-water chain takes part in the hydrogen transfer while the fourth water microsolvates the cluster, is energetically more favored than transition states incorporating two or four active water molecules. An energy barrier of approximately 20 (gas phase) and a free energy barrier of approximately 19 (in water) kcal/mol were derived for the CO 2 + 4H 2O reaction, and again formation of an ion pair is important. The calculated results confirm the crucial role of direct participation of three water molecules ( n = 3) in the eight-member cyclic TS for the CO 2 hydration reaction. Carbonic acid and its water complexes are consistently higher in energy (by approximately 6-7 kcal/mol) than the corresponding CO 2 complexes and can undergo more facile water-assisted dehydration processes.  相似文献

The radical anion of the highly pyramidalized alkene 1,5-dehydroquadricyclane (1) was generated in the gas phase from the Squires reaction of 1,5-bis(trimethylsilyl)quadricyclane with F-/F2. The electron binding energy and proton affinity of 1*- were determined by bracketing experiments to be 0.6 +/- 0.1 eV and 386 +/- 5 kcal/mol, respectively. These values are in good agreement with values predicted by density functional theory (B3LYP/6-31+G*) and ab initio (CASPT2/6-31+G*) calculations. The experimental heat of hydrogenation of 1, obtained from a thermochemical cycle, was found to be 91 +/- 9 kcal/mol. This value of deltaH(H2) leads to values of 67 +/- 9 kcal/mol for the olefin strain energy (OSE) of 1, 172 +/- 9 kcal/mol for its heat of formation, and 23 +/- 9 kcal/mol for its pi bond dissociation enthalpy. Since the retro-Diels-Alder reaction of neutral 1 is computed to be highly exothermic, the finding that 1*- apparently does not undergo a retro-Diels-Alder reaction is of particular interest. The B3LYP/6-31+G* optimized geometry of 1 suggests that the bonding in this alkene is partially delocalized, presumably because the highly pyramidalized double bond in 1 interacts with the distal cyclopropane bonds in a manner that eventually leads to a retro-Diels-Alder reaction. The good agreement of the B3LYP and (2/2)CASPT2 values for the heat of hydrogenation and OSE of 1 with the experimentally derived values provides indirect evidence for the correctness of the B3LYP prediction that the equilibrium geometry of 1 lies part way along the reaction coordinate to the transition structure for the retro-Diels-Alder reaction.  相似文献

We expand the scope of the Bergman cyclization by exploring computationally the rearrangement of two osmaenediynes and one rhodaenediyne. The three hypothetical metallaenediynes are constructed by substituting the 14-electron Os(PH3)3 fragment for the C fragment, or the 15-electron Os(PH3)3H or Rh(PH3)3 fragments for the sp2 CH fragment, of 3-ene-1,5-diyne. This replacement is guided by the isolobal analogy and previous metallabenzene chemistry. The rearrangement of osmaenediyne with an Os(PH3)3 fragment in place of C is exothermic by 3 kcal/mol (the parent Bergman reaction is computed to be endothermic by 5 kcal/mol) and associated with a significant decrease in the barrier to rearrangement to 13 kcal/mol (the Ea of the parent reaction computed at the same level of theory is 33 kcal/mol). The replacement of a CH by the isolobal analogue Os(PH3)3H reduces the energy of activation for the rearrangement to 23 kcal/mol and produces a corresponding metalladiradical that is 8 kcal/mol less stable that the corresponding osmaenediyne. The activation energy corresponding to the rearrangement of the rhodaenediyne is the same as that of the organic parent enediyne. Interesting polytopal rearrangements of metallaenediynes and the diradical nature of the resulting intermediates are also explored.  相似文献

A direct dynamics simulation at the B3LYP/6-311+G(d,p) level of theory was used to study the F- + CH3OOH reaction dynamics. The simulations are in excellent agreement with a previous experimental study (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2002, 124, 3196). Two product channels, HF + CH2O + OH- and HF + CH3OO-, are observed. The former dominates and occurs via an ECO2 mechanism in which F- attacks the CH3- group, abstracting a proton. Concertedly, a carbon-oxygen double bond is formed and OH- is eliminated. Somewhat surprisingly this is not the reaction path, predicted by the intrinsic reaction coordinate (IRC), which leads to a deep potential energy minimum for the CH2(OH)2...F- complex followed by dissociation to HF + CH2(OH)O-. None of the direct dynamics trajectories followed this path, which has an energy release of -63 kcal/mol and is considerably more exothermic than the ECO2 path whose energy release is -27 kcal/mol. Other product channels not observed, and which have a lower energy than that for the ECO2 path, are F- + CO + H2 + H2O (-43 kcal/mol), F- + CH2O + H2O (-51 kcal/mol), and F- + CH2(OH)2 (-60 kcal/mol). Formation of the CH3OOH...F- complex, with randomization of its internal energy, is important, and this complex dissociates via the ECO2 mechanism. Trajectories which form HF + CH3OO- are nonstatistical events and, for the 4 ps direct dynamics simulation, are not mediated by the CH3OOH...F- complex. Dissociation of this complex to form HF + CH3OO- may occur on longer time scales.  相似文献

Results of gradient-corrected periodic density functional theory calculations are reported for hydrogen abstraction from methane at O(s)(2-), O(s)(-), O(2)(s)(2-) point defect, and Sr(2+)-doped surface sites on La(2)O(3)(001). The results show that the anionic O(s)(-) species is the most active surface oxygen site. The overall reaction energy to activate methane at an O(s)(-) site to form a surface hydroxyl group and gas-phase (*)CH(3) radical is 8.2 kcal/mol, with an activation barrier of 10.1 kcal/mol. The binding energy of hydrogen at an site O(s)(-) is -102 kcal/mol. An oxygen site with similar activity can be generated by doping strontium into the oxide by a direct Sr(2+)/La(3+) exchange at the surface. The O(-)-like nature of the surface site is reflected in a calculated hydrogen binding energy of -109.7 kcal/mol. Calculations indicate that surface peroxide (O(2(s))(2-)) sites can be generated by adsorption of O(2) at surface oxygen vacancies, as well as by dissociative adsorption of O(2) across the closed-shell oxide surface of La(2)O(3)(001). The overall reaction energy and apparent activation barrier for the latter pathway are calculated to be only 12.1 and 33.0 kcal/mol, respectively. Irrespective of the route to peroxide formation, the O(2)(s)(2-) intermediate is characterized by a bent orientation with respect to the surface and an O-O bond length of 1.47 A; both attributes are consistent with structural features characteristic of classical peroxides. We found surface peroxide sites to be slightly less favorable for H-abstraction from methane than the O(s)(-) species, with DeltaE(rxn)(CH(4)) = 39.3 kcal/mol, E(act) = 47.3 kcal/mol, and DeltaE(ads)(H) = -71.5 kcal/mol. A possible mechanism for oxidative coupling of methane over La(2)O(3)(001) involving surface peroxides as the active oxygen source is suggested.  相似文献

Ab initio calculations of the potential energy surface for the C3(1Sigmag+)+C2H2(1Sigmag+) reaction have been performed at the RCCSD(T)/cc-pVQZ//B3LYP/6-311G(d,p) + ZPE[B3LYP/6-311G(d,p)] level with extrapolation to the complete basis set limit for key intermediates and products. These calculations have been followed by statistical calculations of reaction rate constants and product branching ratios. The results show the reaction to begin with the formation of the 3-(didehydrovinylidene)cyclopropene intermediate i1 or five-member ring isomer i7 with the entrance barriers of 7.6 and 13.8 kcal/mol, respectively. i1 rearranges to the other C5H2 isomers, including ethynylpropadienylidene i2, singlet pentadiynylidene i3, pentatetraenylidene i4, ethynylcyclopropenylidene i5, and four- and five-member ring structures i6, i7, and i8 by ring-closure and ring-opening processes and hydrogen migrations. i2, i3, and i4 lose a hydrogen atom to produce the most stable linear isomer of C5H with the overall reaction endothermicity of approximately 24 kcal/mol. H elimination from i5 leads to the formation of the cyclic C5H isomer, HC2C3, +H, 27 kcal/ mol above C3+C2H2. 1,1-H2 loss from i4 results in the linear pentacarbon C5+H2 products endothermic by 4 kcal/mol. The H elimination pathways occur without exit barriers, whereas the H2 loss from i4 proceeds via a tight transition state 26.4 kcal/mol above the reactants. The characteristic energy threshold for the reaction under single collision conditions is predicted be in the range of approximately 24 kcal/mol. Product branching ratios obtained by solving kinetic equations with individual rate constants calculated using RRKM and VTST theories for collision energies between 25 and 35 kcal/mol show that l-C5H+H are the dominant reaction products, whereas HC2C3+H and l-C5+H2 are minor products with branching ratios not exceeding 2.5% and 0.7%, respectively. The ethynylcyclopropenylidene isomer i5 is calculated to be the most stable C5H2 species, more favorable than triplet pentadiynylidene i3t by approximately 2 kcal/mol.  相似文献

Using the CCSD(T)/cc-pVDZ//B3LYP/6-311G(2d,2p) method, we calculated the detailed potential energy surfaces (PESs) for the unimolecular isomerization and decomposition of methyl peroxynitrate (CH3O2NO2). The results show that there are the two most stable isomers, IS1a and IS1b, which are a pair of mirror image isomers. From IS1a and IS1b, different isomerization and unimolecular decomposition reaction channels have been studied and discussed. Among them, the predominant thermal decomposition pathways are those leading to CH3O2 + NO2 and cis-CH3ONO + O2. The former is the lowest-energy path through the direct O–N bond rupture in IS1a or IS1b. The PES along the O–N bond in IS1a has been scanned, where the energy of IS1a reaches maximum value of 23.5 kcal/mol when the O–N bond is stretched to about 2.8 Å. This energy is 2.7 kcal/mol larger than the O–N bond dissociation energy (BDE) and 2.8 kcal/mol larger than the experimental active energy. In addition, because the energy barriers of IS1a isomerization to IS2a are 23.8 kcal/mol, close to the 20.8 kcal/mol O–N BDE in IS1a or IS1b, the isomerization reaction may compete with the direct bond rupture dissociation reaction.  相似文献

Hydrolyses of phosphorus halides, (RO)(2)POX where R = H or Me and X = F or Cl, in the gas phase and in the reaction field have been investigated theoretically with ab initio and the density functional theory (DFT). The free energy of activation in the reaction field was also estimated using the Onsager method with a correction of entropy change and basis set superposition error (BSSE). The reaction of (MeO)(2)POF proceeds through a path with bifunctional catalysis regardless of the medium, but the reaction of (MeO)(2)POCl proceeds through bifunctional and general base catalysis in the gas phase and in water, respectively. The estimated free energy barrier of 23 kcal/mol for the hydrolysis of (MeO)(2)POF is in good agreement with the experimental values of 24 kcal/mol, and relative barrier of 3 kcal/mol to the (MeO)(2)POCl is also in good agreement with the experimental values of 5 kcal/mol of diisopropyl phosphorus halides ((Pr(i)O)(2)POX, X = F and Cl).  相似文献

Hydrogen abstraction reaction, H C2H4 --H2 C2H2 was studied by using A initio SCF method. Ge-ometries were fully optimized at SCF level and energies were computed at STO-3G basis set for reactants and transition state. Vibrational analysis was performed thereupon. Finally, the rate constant calculations were carried out at different temperatures for all range of reaction temperature according to Eyring's sbwlute reaction rate theory. The calculated activation energy is 12. 68 kcal/mol, lower than observed value (H. S kcal/mol) by 1. 82 kcal/mol only. The agreement of the calculated rate constants with the experiments is satisfactory.  相似文献

The singlet and triplet potential energy surfaces (PESs) for the gas-phase bimolecular self-reaction of HOO*, a key reaction in atmospheric environments, have been investigated by means of quantum-mechanical electronic structure methods (CASSCF and CASPT2). All the reaction pathways on both PESs consist of a first step involving the barrierless formation of a prereactive doubly hydrogen-bonded complex, which is a diradical species lying about 8 kcal/mol below the energy of the reactants at 0 K. The lowest energy reaction pathway on both PESs is the degenerate double hydrogen exchange between the HOO* moieties of the prereactive complex via a double proton transfer mechanism involving an energy barrier of only 1.1 kcal/mol for the singlet and 3.3 kcal/mol for the triplet at 0 K. The single H-atom transfer between the two HOO* moieties of the prereactive complex (yielding HOOH + O2) through a pathway keeping a planar arrangement of the six atoms involves a conical intersection between either two singlet or two triplet states of A' and A" symmetries. Thus, the lowest energy reaction pathway occurs via a nonplanar cisoid transition structure with an energy barrier of 5.8 kcal/mol for the triplet and 17.5 kcal/mol for the singlet at 0 K. The simple addition between the terminal oxygen atoms of the two HOO* moieties of the prereactive complex, leading to the straight chain H2O4 intermediate on the singlet PES, involves an energy barrier of 7.3 kcal/mol at 0 K. Because the decomposition of such an intermediate into HOOH + O2 entails an energy barrier of 45.2 kcal/mol at 0 K, it is concluded that the single H-atom transfer on the triplet PES is the dominant pathway leading to HOOH + O2. Finally, the strong negative temperature dependence of the rate constant observed for this reaction is attributed to the reversible formation of the prereactive complex in the entrance channel rather than to a short-lived tetraoxide intermediate.  相似文献

The mechanisms of the reactions of W and W+ with NOx (x=1, 2) were studied at the CCSD(T)/[SDD+6-311G(d)]//B3LYP/[SDD+6-31G(d)] level of theory. It was shown that the insertion pathway of the reaction W(7S)+NO2(2A1) is a multistate process, which involves several lower lying electronic states of numerous intermediates and transition states, and leads to oxidation, WO(3Sigma)+NO(2Pi), and/or nitration, WN(4Sigma)+O2(3Sigmag-), of the W-center. Oxidation products WO(3Sigma)+NO(2Pi) lie 87.6 kcal/mol below the reactants, while the nitration channel is only 31.0 kcal/mol exothermic. Furthermore, it was shown that nitration of W with NO2 is kinetically less favorable than its oxidation. The addition-dissociation pathway of the reaction W(7S)+NO2(2A1) proceeds via the octet (ground) state potential energy surface of the reaction, requires 3.3 kcal/mol barrier, and leads exclusively to oxidation products. Calculations show that oxidation of the W+ cation by NO2 is a barrierless process in the gas phase, proceeds exclusively via the insertion pathway, and is exothermic by 82.9 kcal/mol. The nitration of W+ by NO2 is only 14.1 kcal/mol exothermic and could be accessible only under high-temperature conditions. Reactions of M=W/W+ with NO are also barrierless processes in the gas phase and lead to the N-O insertion product NMO, which are 105.4 and 77.4 kcal/mol lower than the reactants for W and W+, respectively.  相似文献

We have studied the solvation of uranyl, UO(2)(2+), and the reduced species UO(OH)(2+) and U(OH)(2)(2+) systematically using three levels of approximation: direct application of a continuum model (M1); explicit quantum-chemical treatment of the first hydration sphere (M2); a combined quantum-chemical/continuum model approach (M3). We have optimized complexes with varying numbers of aquo ligands (n = 4-6) and compared their free energies of solvation. Models M1 and M2 have been found to recover the solvation energy only partially, underestimating it by approximately 100 kcal/mol or more. With our best model M3, the calculated hydration free energy Delta(h)G degrees of UO(2)(2+) is about -420 kcal/mol, which shifts to about -370 kcal/mol when corrected for the expected error of the model. This value agrees well with the experimentally determined interval, -437 kcal/mol < Delta(h)G degrees < -318 kcal/mol. Complexes with 5 and 6 aquo ligands have been found to be about equally favored with models M2 and M3. The same solvation models have been applied to a two-step reduction of UO(2)(2+) by water, previously theoretically studied in the gas phase. Our results show that the solvation contribution to the reaction free energy, about 60 kcal/mol, dominates the endoergicity of the reduction.  相似文献

The reaction paths of nitromethane leading to the dissociation products or isomerization to methyl nitrite have been computationally investigated at the CAS-SCF and DFT levels of theory. Additionally, the CAS-SCF wave functions were used as reference in a second-order perturbation treatment, CASPT2, in order to obtain a good estimate for the activation energy of each reaction path. Both methods predict the isomerization as a concerted reaction. However, the behavior of the two approximations with respect to dissociation is rather different; while CASPT2 predicts a barrier height of (≈59 kcal/mol) in good accordance with the experimental activation energy (59.0 kcal/mol), B3-LYP/6-31G* calculations overestimate the barrier for more than 30 kcal/mol. The DFT prediction of the dissociation channel exhibits inverse symmetry breaking, dissociating to the unphysical absurd CH3δ+ plus NO2δ−.  相似文献
