Let k be a field of characteristic not equal to 2. For n≥1, let denote the nth Galois Cohomology group. The classical Tate's lemma asserts that if k is a number field then given finitely many elements , there exist such that αi=(a)∪(bi), where for any λ∈k∗, (λ) denotes the image of k∗ in . In this paper we prove a higher dimensional analogue of the Tate's lemma.  相似文献

Let p be a prime number. We say that a number field F satisfies the condition when for any cyclic extension N/F of degree p, the ring of p-integers of N has a normal integral basis over . It is known that F=Q satisfies for any p. It is also known that when p?19, any subfield F of Q(ζp) satisfies . In this paper, we prove that when p?23, an imaginary subfield F of Q(ζp) satisfies if and only if and p=43, 67 or 163 (under GRH). For a real subfield F of Q(ζp) with FQ, we give a corresponding but weaker assertion to the effect that it quite rarely satisfies .  相似文献

Using the theory of elliptic curves, we show that the class number h(−p) of the field appears in the count of certain factors of the Legendre polynomials , where p is a prime >3 and m has the form (pe)/k, with k=2,3 or 4 and . As part of the proof we explicitly compute the Hasse invariant of the Hessian curve y2+αxy+y=x3 and find an elementary expression for the supersingular polynomial ssp(x) whose roots are the supersingular j-invariants of elliptic curves in characteristic p. As a corollary we show that the class number h(−p) also shows up in the factorization of certain Jacobi polynomials.  相似文献

Let F be a real quadratic field and m an integral ideal of F. Two Stark units, εm,1 and εm,2, are conjectured to exist corresponding to the two different embeddings of F into R. We define new ray class invariants and associated to each class C+ of the narrow ray class group modulo m and dependent separately on the two different embeddings of F into R. These invariants are defined as a product of special values of the double sine function in a compact and canonical form using a continued fraction approach due to Zagier and Hayes. We prove that both Stark units εm,1 and εm,2, assuming they exist, can be expressed simultaneously and symmetrically in terms of and , thus giving a canonical expression for every existent Stark unit over F as a product of double sine function values. We prove that Stark units do exist as predicted in certain special cases.  相似文献

An excessive factorization of a multigraph G is a set F={F1,F2,…,Fr} of 1-factors of G whose union is E(G) and, subject to this condition, r is minimum. The integer r is called the excessive index of G and denoted by . We set if an excessive factorization does not exist. Analogously, let m be a fixed positive integer. An excessive[m]-factorization is a set M={M1,M2,…,Mk} of matchings of G, all of size m, whose union is E(G) and, subject to this condition, k is minimum. The integer k is denoted by and called the excessive [m]-index of G. Again, we set if an excessive [m]-factorization does not exist. In this paper we shall prove that, for bipartite multigraphs, both the parameters and are computable in polynomial time, and we shall obtain an efficient algorithm for finding an excessive factorization and excessive [m]-factorization, respectively, of any bipartite multigraph.  相似文献

We give a very general completion theorem for pro-spectra. We show that, if G is a compact Lie group, M[∗] is a pro-G-spectrum, and F is a family of (closed) subgroups of G, then the mapping pro-spectrum F(EF+,M[∗]) is the F-adic completion of M[∗], in the sense that the map M[∗]→F(EF+,M[∗]) is the universal map into an algebraically F-adically complete pro-spectrum. Here, F(EF+,M[∗]) denotes the pro-G-spectrum , where runs over the finite subcomplexes of EF+.  相似文献

Let G be a universal Chevalley group over an algebraically closed field and U be the subalgebra of generated by all divided powers Xα,m with α<0. We conjecture an algorithm to determine if , where FU, ω is a dominant weight and is a highest weight vector of the Weyl module Δ(ω). This algorithm does not use bases of Δ(ω) and is similar to the algorithm for irreducible modules that involves stepwise raising the vector under investigation. For an arbitrary G, this conjecture is proved in one direction and for G of type A in both.  相似文献

In a recent paper [G. Yu, An upper bound for B2[g] sets, J. Number Theory 122 (1) (2007) 211-220] Gang Yu stated the following conjecture: Let be an arbitrary sequence of polynomials with increasing degrees and all coefficients in {0,1}. If we denote by (#pi) the number of non-zero coefficients of pi, and let be the maximal coefficient of , then

Let E be a modular elliptic curve defined over a rational function field k of odd characteristic. We construct a sequence of Heegner points on E, defined over a -tower of finite extensions of k, and show that these Heegner points generate a group of infinite rank. This is a function field analogue of a result of Cornut and Vatsal.  相似文献

Let E/Q be an elliptic curve with no CM and a fixed modular parametrization and let be Heegner points attached to the rings of integers of distinct quadratic imaginary fields k1,…,kr. We prove that if the odd parts of the class numbers of k1,…,kr are larger than a constant C=C(E,ΦE) depending only on E and ΦE, then the points P1,…,Pr are independent in .  相似文献

Let be the polynomial ring over a finite field. We prove that for every element a of a global -field of finite -characteristic the set of places for which a is a primitive root under the Carlitz action possesses a Dirichlet density. We also give a criterion for this density to be positive. This is an analogue of Bilharz’ version of the primitive roots conjecture of Artin, with replaced by the Carlitz module.  相似文献

Let G be a graph. The connectivity of G, κ(G), is the maximum integer k such that there exists a k-container between any two different vertices. A k-container of G between u and v, Ck(u,v), is a set of k-internally-disjoint paths between u and v. A spanning container is a container that spans V(G). A graph G is k-connected if there exists a spanning k-container between any two different vertices. The spanning connectivity of G, κ(G), is the maximum integer k such that G is w-connected for 1≤wk if G is 1-connected.Let x be a vertex in G and let U={y1,y2,…,yk} be a subset of V(G) where x is not in U. A spanningk−(x,U)-fan, Fk(x,U), is a set of internally-disjoint paths {P1,P2,…,Pk} such that Pi is a path connecting x to yi for 1≤ik and . A graph G is k-fan-connected (or -connected) if there exists a spanning Fk(x,U)-fan for every choice of x and U with |U|=k and xU. The spanning fan-connectivity of a graph G, , is defined as the largest integer k such that G is -connected for 1≤wk if G is -connected.In this paper, some relationship between κ(G), κ(G), and are discussed. Moreover, some sufficient conditions for a graph to be -connected are presented. Furthermore, we introduce the concept of a spanning pipeline-connectivity and discuss some sufficient conditions for a graph to be k-pipeline-connected.  相似文献

Let E be an elliptic curve over a number field K. Let h be the logarithmic (or Weil) height on E and be the canonical height on E. Bounds for the difference are of tremendous theoretical and practical importance. It is possible to decompose as a weighted sum of continuous bounded functions Ψυ:E(Kυ)→R over the set of places υ of K. A standard method for bounding , (due to Lang, and previously employed by Silverman) is to bound each function Ψυ and sum these local ‘contributions’.In this paper, we give simple formulae for the extreme values of Ψυ for non-archimedean υ in terms of the Tamagawa index and Kodaira symbol of the curve at υ.For real archimedean υ a method for sharply bounding Ψυ was previously given by Siksek [Rocky Mountain J. Math. 25(4) (1990) 1501]. We complement this by giving two methods for sharply bounding Ψυ for complex archimedean υ.  相似文献

In this paper we will apply Biró's method in [A. Biró, Yokoi's conjecture, Acta Arith. 106 (2003) 85-104; A. Biró, Chowla's conjecture, Acta Arith. 107 (2003) 179-194] to class number 2 problem of real quadratic fields of Richaud-Degert type and will show that there are exactly 4 real quadratic fields of the form with class number 2, where n2+1 is a even square free integer.  相似文献

Let p>3 be a prime, u,v,dZ, gcd(u,v)=1, p?u2dv2 and , where is the Legendre symbol. In the paper we mainly determine the value of by expressing p in terms of appropriate binary quadratic forms. As applications, for we obtain a general criterion for and a criterion for εd to be a cubic residue of p, where εd is the fundamental unit of the quadratic field . We also give a general criterion for , where {Un} is the Lucas sequence defined by U0=0, U1=1 and Un+1=PUnQUn−1 (n?1). Furthermore, we establish a general result to illustrate the connections between cubic congruences and binary quadratic forms.  相似文献

Let Ω be an algebraic closure of and let F be a finite extension of contained in Ω. Given positive integers f and e, the number of extensions K/F contained in Ω with residue degree f and ramification index e was computed by Krasner. This paper is concerned with the number of F-isomorphism classes of such extensions. We determine completely when p2?e and get partial results when p2||e. When s is large, is equal to the number of isomorphism classes of finite commutative chain rings with residue field , ramification index e, and length s.  相似文献
