Production of helium projectile fragments in 16O-emulsion interactions at 60 A GeV is investigated. The total charge changing and partial production cross-sections are measured experimentally on the basis of helium multiplicity. The multiplicity distribution of helium projectile fragments obeys a KNO scaling. In the peripheral collision of 16O at 60 A GeV in nuclear emulsion, the production of target fragments depends on the multiplicity of helium projectile fragments linearly. The averge multiplicity of target fragments decreases with the increasing of the number of helium projectile fragments which can be well expliained by the model of participant-spectator (the nuclear geometric model) of nucleus-nucleus interactions.  相似文献

We present an event-by-event study of the breakup of the 16O in 16O + emulsion nucleus interactions at 75, 175 and 2000 MeV/A. The events are categorized according to their multiplicity of projectile He nuclei. The multiplicity depends on the degree of target destruction. Although the fragmentation model describes the gross features of inclusive He spectra, an event-by-event study reveals deviations from the model. The momenta of the He nuclei, emitted from the projectile, depend on helium multiplicity and the breakup properties of the target nucleus. The probability that the 16O projectile breaks up into multiple He fragments is larger at 75 MeV/A than at 2000 MeV/A. At 75 MeV/A the mean velocity of projectile He is on the average 0.06c below the projectile velocity. This recoil velocity depends on the target nucleus destruction also for the most peripheral collisions.  相似文献

This work is concerned with the analyses of the shower and gray particle production in 4.5 A GeV/c 24Mg collision with emulsion nuclei. The highest particle production occurs in the region of the low impact parameters. While the multiplicity of the shower particles emitted in the forward direction depends on the projectile mass number and energy, the multiplicity of the backward ones shows a limiting behaviour. The source of the emission of the forward shower particles is completely different from that of the backward ones. The target fragments are produced in a thermalized system of emission.  相似文献

We have studied the properties of the relativistic helium fragments emitted from the projectile in the interactions of 24Mg ions accelerated at an energy of 3.7 A GeV with emulsion nuclei. The total, partial nuclear cross-sections and production rates of helium fragmentation channels in relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions and their dependence on the mass and energy of the incident projectile nucleus are investigated. The yields of multiple helium projectile fragments disrupted from the interactions of 24Mg projectile nuclei with hydrogen H, light CNO and heavy AgBr groups of target emulsion nuclei are discussed and they indicate that the breakup mechanism of the projectile seems to be independent of the target mass. Limiting fragmentation behavior of fast-moving helium fragments is observed in both the projectile and target nuclei. The multiplicity distributions of helium projectile fragments emitted in the interactions of 24Mg projectile nuclei with the different target nuclei of the emulsion are well described by the KNO scaling presentation. The mean multiplicities of the different charged secondary particles, normally defined shower, grey and black ( ns, ng and nb) emitted in the interactions of 3.7 A GeV 24Mg with the different groups of emulsion nuclei at different ranges of projectile fragments are decreasing when the number of He fragments stripped from projectile increases. These values of ni ( i = s, g, b and h particles) in the events where the emission of fast helium fragments were accompanied by heavy fragments having Z 3 seem to be constant as the He multiplicity increases, and exhibit a behavior independent of the He multiplicity.  相似文献

The emission of projectile fragments alpha has been studied in 84Kr interactions with nuclei of the nuclear emulsion detector composition at relativistic energy below 2 GeV per nucleon. The angular distribution of projectile fragments alpha in terms of transverse momentum could not be explained by a straight and clean-cut collision geometry hypothesis of Participant — Spectator (PS) Model. Therefore, it is assumed that projectile fragments alpha were produced from two separate sources that belong to the projectile spectator region differing drastically in their temperatures. It has been clearly observed that the emission of projectile fragments alpha are from two different sources. The contribution of projectile fragments alpha from contact layer or hot source is a few percent of the total emission of projectile fragments alphas. Most of the projectile fragments alphas are emitted from the cold source.  相似文献

The measurements of partial production cross sections of the multiple helium projectile fragments emitted at 4.5 A GeV/c {}^{16}O-Em interactions are reported. We have studied the production rate of helium projectile fragments due to fragmentation of {}^{16}O ions and compared it with that obtained from different projectiles at various energies. The dependence of on the mass number of the incident beams is formulated. The multiplicity distributions of the helium fragments produced in {}^{16}O-Em interactions at different energies exhibit Koba-Nielson-Olesen (KNO) scaling. The correlation of helium projectile fragments and target fragments is also investigated and it is found that the average of target fragments is increased with the decrease of the number of helium fragments in peripheral interactions.  相似文献

The electromagnetic dissociation (ED) of 3.7 A GeV {}^{16}O in nuclear emulsion is investigated with high statistics. It is found that the electromagnetically dissociated cross section increases with increasing beam energy, the charge distribution of projectile fragments is the same as the results at 60 and 200 A GeV, and the production probability of projectile fragments with charge 3≤Z≤5 is less than that of the other projectile fragments. These results can be well explained by use of Weizsacker and Williams method for calculating the ED contributions. The percentile abundance of various decay modes for ED at 3.7 A GeV is close to the result at 60 and 200 A GeV, but it is different from the result at 14.6 A GeV. The ED of 3.7 A GeV is mainly caused by the giant dipole and quadrupole resonance of E1 and E2, which can be qualitatively explained by the multiplicity distribution of projectile proton in ED. The multiplicity distribution of the α fragments in ED and nuclear events have different functional forms. This difference may be a consequence of the different reaction mechanism involved.  相似文献

This article is focused on the characteristics of the projectile fragments of charge 1 ≤ Z ≤ 10 produced in the interaction of the 84Kr36 with nuclear emulsion detector at 1 GeV per nucleon. We have studied the average charge distribution and multiplicity distribution of the projectile fragments having charge 1 ≤ Z ≤ 10. We have also studied the emission behavior of various projectile fragments produced from the interaction with different target groups of nuclear emulsion detector. From this study we have observed that the emission of projectile fragments is strongly dependent on the interaction with different type of the target groups of nuclear emulsion detector as well as on the mass of the projectile beam. The results are compared with other experimental observations carried out at relativistic energy and found to be consistent.  相似文献

The interactions of 4.1AGeV/c 22Ne and 4.5AGeV/c 32S nuclei with emulsion have been studied and the dependence of the average multiplicities of the emitted secondary charged particles and the interacting projectile nucleons on the impact parameters have been investigated. The behavior of the Koba-Neilsen-Olesen (KNO) scaling formula of the multiplicity distributions produced due to the interactions of22Ne and32S at the energies mentioned above is satisfied by all target protons. The multiplicity distributions of the emitted4He fragments and the fragmentation cross-section relative to the inelastic cross-section have been investigated and give a4He-fragments yield which is always ten times greater than the yield of any other fragments. The dependence of the normalized mean multiplicity and the reduced multiplicity on the mass of the projectile and target nucleus can be described by a power law.  相似文献

Thick-target recoil ranges of radioactive nuclei produced in 30–200 MeV alpha-particle bombardment of 59Co have been used to deduce the longitudinal momentum transfer per projectile nucleon (p6/A) as a function of residue mass and bombarding energy. The average value of p6/A increases monotonically with bombarding energy and reaches a maximum value of ≈ 160 MeV/c at ≈ 23 MeV/u, and decreases thereafter. The maximum value of p6/A is equal to the incident momentum up to ≈ 23 MeV/u and saturates at a value of ≈ 220 MeV/c beyond this energy.  相似文献

The properties of the relativistic alpha fragments produced in interactions of 84Kr at around 1 A GeV in nuclear emulsion are investigated. The experimental results are compared with the similar results obtained from various projectiles with emulsion interactions at different energies. The total, partial nuclear cross-sections and production rates of alpha fragmentation channels in relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions and their dependence on the mass number and initial energy of the incident projectile nucleus are investigated. The yields of multiple alpha fragments emitted from the interactions of projectile nuclei with the nuclei of light, medium and heavy target groups of emulsion-detector are discussed and they indicate that the projectile-breakup mechanism seems to be free from the target mass number. It is found that the multiplicity distributions of alpha fragments are well described by the Koba-Nielsen-Olesen (KNO) scaling presentation. The mean multiplicities of the freshly produced or newly created charged secondary particles, normally known as shower and secondary particles associated with target in the events where the emission of alpha fragments were accompanied by heavy projectile fragments having Z ≥ 3 seem to be constant as the alpha fragments multiplicity increases, and exhibit a behavior independent of the alpha fragments multiplicity.  相似文献

The interaction mean free path of He projectile fragments, produced by the collisions of 16O at 60 A GeV in a nuclear emulsion, has been investigated. In the present analysis, 1555 He projectile fragments, giving rise to 320 secondary interactions, have been used. At a level of 3% a very weak signal of anomalons is observed, which comes mainly from the 3×He channel.  相似文献

The multiplicity distributions of projectile fragments (PFs) produced in interactions of (4He, 12C, 16O, 22Ne and 28Si with emulsion (Em) at 4.1?C4.5 A GeV/c beam energies, and their dependence on target groups (H, CNO and AgBr) are presented and have been reproduced by using a multi-source thermal model. The dependence of the mean multiplicities on masses of projectile and target nuclei is investigated. The experimental results are compared with the corresponding ones from the theoretically calculated ones. Topological cross sections are presented for K+p, K?p and pp interations at 32 GeV/c and for π+p and π?p interactions at 50 GeV/c observed in the 4.5 m Mirabelle hydrogen bubble chamber at Serpukhov. Parameters characterizing the behaviour of the multiplicity distributions, namely 〈nc〉, D and f2 and the normalized moments are given. The dependence of these parameters on the energy and the nature of the beam particle is discussed. The multiplicity distributions obtained cannot be described by a single function in the KNO variables.  相似文献

An analysis of data of target fragments of 28Si-AgBr (at 14.5 AGeV) reveals the existence of emission asymmetry in the azimuthal plane, which is found to depend on the number of target fragments. The comparison with the data of 32S-AgBr (at 200 AGeV) and 16O-AgBr (at 60 AGeV) interactions indicates that emission asymmetry depends on the projectile mass and energy.  相似文献

A selection of results in particle physics is given from experiments with the cosmic radiation from about 1960 to December 1974. Mostly, the results are from interactions of energy greater than 105 GeV. The topics covered are: a) variation of charged particle multiplicity with energy, b) rise in the p-p cross section with energy, c) rise in the NN production cross section with energy, d) the mean pT and its distribution at energies from 105 to 108 GeV, e) the mass spectrum of ‘fireballs” and the transverse momenta of decay products in the fireball CMS, f) other emulsion chamber results including the event ‘Centauro’, g) the search and evidence for very massive, comparatively stable particles, h) interactions between 1017 and 1021 eV.  相似文献
