Synthesis and single-crystal X-ray structures of mixed triple and double calixarenes 6 and 7, obtained from the base-catalyzed condensation of calix[5]arene 1 with cone pertosylated calix[4]arene 2, are reported. VT-NMR studies on 7 are consistent with a molecular motion arising from the anti-gauche conformational interconversion of its ethylene linkages.  相似文献

p-Phosphonic acid calix[4]arene bearing lower rim O-C(18)H(37) alkyl chains assemble into 6 nm diameter fibres, which deposit from toluene onto mica and graphite, as characterised using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). Molecular simulations support a micelle-like arrangement of calixarenes with the alkyl chains directed inwards, and they form a composite material with a fluorescent molecule.  相似文献

Fluorescence and absorption studies of water-soluble sulfonated calix[6]arene (SCX6) are reported. Water-soluble calixarenes are potentially useful as host molecules for luminophores, and studies of their spectroscopic characteristics are therefore crucial. The absorption and fluorescence spectra of these molecules in aqueous solution were collected, analyzed, and compared with 4-hydroxybenzene sulfonate at different pHs. A red shift in the absorption spectrum and a change in the fluorescence spectrum of the calixarenes are observed upon an increase in pH from 2.0 to 13.0. Some of these spectroscopic changes are attributed to intramolecular hydrogen bonding between adjacent hydroxyl groups of SCX6 after proton disassociation. The formation of excimers between phenolic groups in the calixarene molecule is proposed. In addition, inner-filter effects of SCX6 are discussed. These inner-filter effects prove to be a disadvantage for the use of SCX6 as a host molecule for complexation studies by use of fluorescence probes whose absorption spectra overlap with those of calixarenes.  相似文献

The inclusion of o-carborane by p-Bu(t)-calix[7,9]arenes has been investigated by solid state and solution studies, with both resulting complexes in the solid state being rich in carborane with the ratio of calixarene to carborane at 1 : 7 and 2 : 7 respectively. The carboranes reside in clefts within the calixarenes which arise from specific local conformations of adjacent phenolic groups, or are included in the extended structure through other interplay of the calixarenes and carboranes in such clefts.  相似文献

In toluene fullerene C(70) forms 2:1 complexes with p-benzylcalix[5]arene (1) and p-phenylcalix[5]arene (2), [C(70) subset1(2)].6(C(7)H(8)) and [C(70) subset2(2)].7(C(7)H(8)). The fullerene molecules are completely shrouded by two calix[5]arenes in addition to terminal benzyl groups from other supermolecules, [C(70) subset1(2)], and solvent. Within the capsule-like supermolecules the calixarenes have distinctly different arrangements relative to the principal axis of the fullerene; for [C(70) subset1(2)].6(C(7)H(8)) the oxygen planes of the two calixarenes are skewed by 37.0 and 47.5 degrees , whereas in [C(70) subset2(2)].7(C(7)H(8)) the principal axes of the fullerene and the two encapsulating calixarenes are more closely aligned with the corresponding angles at 9.7 and 8.6 degrees , and features a pentaphenyl inter-calixarene embrace. The Hirshfeld surfaces of these two complexes have been investigated for a detailed understanding of the orientation and nature of interactions of C(70) with the cavitand-type molecules and toluene.  相似文献

The narrow (or "lower")-rim hydroxyl groups of calixarenes are known to be resistant to substitution/displacement. The Sonogashira coupling reaction with TMSA and phenylacetylene, however, has now been extended to the bistriflate of p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene, previously known to be resistant to Stille, Neigishi, or Suzuki-Miyaura reactions. Under some of the reaction conditions investigated, the previously unknown narrow-rim mono- and diiodo-p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene products were also produced, in addition to the narrow-rim mono- and dialkynyl products. Homocoupling of the narrow-rim monoethynyl-p-tert-butyl-calix[4]arene produced a new narrow-rim rigid butadiyne-linked bis-p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene.  相似文献

Calix[4]arenes substituted by four urea functions are self-complementary molecules that spontaneously combine in apolar solvents in the presence of an ammonium salt to form dimeric capsules held together by a belt of hydrogen bonds. In the presence of tetraethylammonium salts, the Et4N+ cation is included as a guest. The sorting between dimeric capsules formed in a mixture of calix[4]arenes directly depends on the steric crowding of the substituents grafted on the urea groups whether aromatic derivatives or aliphatic chains linking urea functions in mono-, di-, or tetraloop structures. Simple rules allow one to anticipate which capsules will be exclusively formed when calix[4]arenes are mixed in different proportions. The stabilization of the dimeric structures by hydrogen bonds is thwarted by the overlaps of aliphatic loops and/or by bulky groups that cannot pass through these loops. Despite the structural similarity of the calixarenes, the exclusive formation of dimers of well-defined compositions and clear titration breaks are observed by electrospray mass spectrometry. This technique yields reliable information on stoichiometries and composition despite measurements in the gas phase rather than in solution and it does not suffer from excessive peak overlaps in contrast with NMR.  相似文献

A one-pot methodology has been developed for the preparation of macrocyclon mimics, i.e., calix[8]arenes containing hydrophobic alkyl substituents on the upper rim and hydrophilic polyethylene glycol chains on the lower rim. Compounds containing PEG chains of up to 24 repeating ethylene oxide (EO) units can be prepared. With increasing molecular weight, these amphiphilic compounds can be classified as macromolecules, and can be difficult to characterise as single molecules. The limitations of conventional analytical techniques are discussed.  相似文献

Nitro‐substituted calixarenes in a cone and a partial cone conformation were prepared selectively using distinct synthetic routes. The selective nitration of tris‐ or penta‐substituted phenols of calix[4]arene or calix[6]arene provided mononitrocalix[n ]arenes (=  4, 6). Subsequent addition of ethylene glycol (EG) moieties to mononitrocalix[4]arene provided tetraEGylcalix[4]arene in locked partial cone conformation. By an alternative route – initial addition of EG moieties to the non‐derivatized calix[4]arene followed by the uncontrolled nitration – provided mononitro‐ and dinitro‐tetraEGylcalix[4]arenes locked in the cone conformation. These nitrocalix[4]arenes with locked cone or partial cone conformation are useful building blocks for further assembly of supramolecular systems, especially in the area of material sciences.  相似文献

A new class of ionophore consisting of two calix[4]arene units linked through the lower rim by two ethylene chains, in combination with propyl ether and phenolic functional groups, has been developed. These calix[4]semitube molecules exhibit remarkable selectivity and fast complexation kinetics for potassium over all Group 1 metal cations. Molecular modelling studies, using structural models derived from crystallographic data, suggest the potassium cation is complexed by a horizontal, side-on route and not through the calix[4]arene annulus. The length of the bridging alkylene chain between the respective calix[4]arenes of the semitube structure dictates the strength and selectivity of alkali metal cation binding.  相似文献

Preferential crystallization from a mixture of C-methylresorcin[4]arene (RsC1) and calix[6]arene (Calix6) in the presence of different bases has been investigated. In the presence of pyridine, a boat conformer of RsC1 crystallizes, whereas in the presence of triethylamine, Calix6 crystallizes in a symmetrically distorted conformation. The packing arrangements of the macrocycles show discrete solvent pockets for calixarenes and channels for resorcinarenes.  相似文献

MD simulations using a combination of AMI and AMBER are performed to elucidate the origin of complexation between fullerenes and calix[n]arenes (n = 4,6,8). Only calix[6]arenes and calix[8]arenes are suitable for complex formation. By introducing benzyl substitutents on the upper rim of the calixarenes the interaction energy between host and guest is even improved. Analysis of the data also reveals a strong stabilization by t-butyl or benzyl substitutents beside π-π interactions between the arene units of the calixarene and fullerenes. The calculated data perfectly correlate with the experimentally observed equilibrium constants.  相似文献

The experimental IR and Far IR spectra of the calix[4]arene, p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene, thialcalix[4]arene and p-tert-butylthiacalix[4]arene were examined at different temperatures and interpreted. The band frequencies and intensities in the IR spectra of the calix[4]arene and thialcalix[4]arene were calculated. The absorption curves of the four possible calix[4]arene conformations: cone, partial cone, 1,2- and 1,3-alternate were computed. The bands characteristic for each conformation are defined and assigned. The obtained spectra-structure correlation can be used for the characteristic of calixarenes conformation.  相似文献

Calix[4]arenes bearing acridinium and acridane substituents at the wide rim and a short glycol chain and two OH-groups at the narrow rim have been prepared. The interaction with alkali metal ions can be identified with the naked eye by the change in solution color arising from deprotonation of the OH-groups. Unlike the acridane calixarenes, the acridinium-substituted calixarene-crown-4 binds sodium ions. Due to the photoheterolysis of the acridane, calixarene sodium ions are picked up from the acetonitrile solution due to the formation of acridinium calixarene.  相似文献

p-Phosphonic acid calix[5]arene forms molecular capsules in water based on two of the molecules, which can be loaded with carboplatin using intense shearing, and attached to single wall carbon nano-tubes. Rigidified calix[4]arene analogs were synthesized fromsyn-[2.n]metacyclophanes as a building block. Their structure was firmly locked in the cone conformation. An enlarged calix[4]arene analog was obtained after the cyclobutane ring cleavage of the parent analog by Birch reduction. Several ionophores have been derived from the analogs and been found to select the larger ions during the extraction of alkali metals, transition metals, and lanthanoids. The ionophore having oligoethylene glycol units showed an effective catalytic activity for SN2 reactions such as ester synthesis, Williamson ether synthesis, and Finkelstein reaction in several media.This paper is dedicated to the commemorative issue on the 50th anniversary of calixarenes.  相似文献

The base-catalyzed condensation of 1-naphthol and formaldehyde in refluxing dimethylformamide affords three isomeric cyclic tetramers which are conformationally flexible over a wide temperature range. Their tetrabenzoate esters however show restricted flexibility. Variable-temperature NMR and low-temperature COSY is used to analyze the conformational preferences of these calix[4]naphthalenes.This paper is dedicated to the commemorative issue on the 50th anniversary of calixarenes.  相似文献

[reaction: see text] Several calix[4]arene derivatives propylated on the lower rim and substituted on the upper rim with amino or carboxyl groups have been synthesized. Examples include calixarenes substituted with alanino (C- and N-linked), amino, carboxy, carboxyphenyl, and amidino groups. The self-assembly of these derivatized calixarenes into heterodimers has been studied by NMR in DMSO-d(6) or CD(3)OD with 5% aqueous phosphate buffer.  相似文献

p-tert-Butylcalix[8]arene-octaacetic acid octaethyl ester and calix[8]arene-octaacetic acid octaethyl ester well recognized 2-phenylethylamine and phenylalanine methyl ester compared with the corresponding calix[6]arene derivatives. Moreover, the calix[8]arene derivatives, especially one having tert-butyl groups, gave better selectivity against biologically active amines having a complicated structure, such as norephedrine. We considered the interaction between calixarenes and organic ammonium ions from the viewpoint of molecular symmetries.  相似文献
