Triangulene and its higher homologues are a class of zigzag‐edged triangular graphene molecules (ZTGMs) with high‐spin ground states. These open‐shell molecules are predicted to host ferromagnetically coupled edge states with net spin values scaling with molecular size and are therefore considered promising candidates for future molecular spintronics applications. Unfortunately, the synthesis of unsubstituted [n]triangulenes and the direct observation of their edge states have been a long‐standing challenge due to a high reactivity towards oxygen. However, recent advances in precursor design enabled the on‐surface synthesis and characterization of unsubstituted [3]‐, [4]‐, and [5]triangulene. In this Minireview, we will highlight key aspects of this rapidly developing field, ranging from the principles of precursor design to synthetic strategies and characterization of a homologous series of triangulene molecules synthesized on‐surface. We will also discuss challenges and future directions.  相似文献

A dithieno[a,h]‐s‐indacene‐ (DTI‐) based diradicaloid DTI‐2Br was synthesized and its open‐shell singlet diradical character was validated by magnetic measurements. On the other hand, its macrocyclic trimer DTI‐MC3 and tetramer DTI‐MC4 turned out to be closed‐shell compounds with global antiaromaticity, which was supported by X‐ray crystallographic analysis and NMR spectroscopy, assisted by ACID and 2D‐ICSS calculations. Such change can be explained by a subtle balance between two types of antiferromagnetic spin–spin coupling along the π‐conjugated macrocycles. The dications of DTI‐MC3 and DTI‐MC4 turned out to be open‐shell singlet diradical dications, with a singlet–triplet energy gap of ?2.90 and ?2.60 kcal mol?1, respectively. At the same time, they are both global aromatic. Our studies show that intramolecular spin–spin interactions play important roles on electronic properties of π‐conjugated macrocycles.  相似文献

X‐ray absorption near the iron K edge (XANES) was used to investigate the characteristics of temperature‐induced low‐spin‐to‐high‐spin change (SC) in metallo‐supramolecular polyelectrolyte amphiphile complexes (PAC) containing FeN6 octahedra attached to two or six amphiphilic molecules. Compared to the typical spin‐crossover material Fe(phen)2(NCS)2 XANES spectra of PAC show fingerprint features restricted to the near‐edge region which mainly measures multiple scattering (MS) events. The changes of the XANES profiles during SC are thus attributed to the structure changes due to different MS path lengths. Our results can be interpreted by a uniaxial deformation of FeN6 octahedra in PAC. This is in agreement with the prediction that SC is originated by a structural phase transition in the amphiphilic matrix of PAC, but in contrast to Fe(phen)2(NCS)2, showing the typical spin crossover being associated with shortening of all the metal–ligand distances.  相似文献

For the purpose of developing poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT) based copolymers with deep‐lying highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) levels for polymer solar cells with high open‐circuit voltage (Voc), we report a combined approach of random incorporation of 3‐cyanothiophene (CNT) and 3‐(2‐ethylhexyl)thiophene (EHT) units into the P3HT backbone. This strategy is designed to overcome CNT content limitations in recently reported P3HT‐CNT copolymers, where incorporation of more than 15% of CNT into the polymer backbone leads to impaired polymer solubility and raises the HOMO level. This new approach allows incorporation of a larger CNT content, reaching even lower‐lying HOMO levels. Importantly, a very low HOMO level of ?5.78 eV was obtained, representing one of the lowest HOMO values for exclusively thiophene‐based polymers. Lower HOMO levels result in higher Voc and higher power conversion efficiencies (PCE) compared to the previously reported P3HT‐CNT copolymers containing only 3‐hexylthiophene and CNT units. As a result, solar cells based on P3HT‐CNT‐EHT(15:15) , which contains 70% of P3HT, 15% of CNT and 15% of EHT, yield a Voc of 0.83 V in blends with PC61BM while preserving high fill factor (FF) and high short‐circuit current density (Jsc), resulting in 3.6% PCE. Additionally, we explored the effect of polymer number‐average molecular weight (Mn) on the optoelectronic properties and solar cell performance for the example of P3HT‐CNT‐EHT(15:15). The organic photovoltaic (OPV) performance improves with polymer Mn increasing from 3.4 to 6.7 to 9.6 kDa and then it declines as Mn further increases to 9.9 and to 16.2 kDa. The molecular weight study highlights the importance of not only the solar cell optimization, but also the significance of individual polymer properties optimization, in order to fully explore the potential of any given polymer in OPVs. The broader ramification of this study lies in potential application of these high band gap copolymers with low‐lying HOMO level in the development of ternary blend photovoltaics as well as tandem OPV. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 3‐hexylthiophene was electropolymerized on a carbon nanotube (CNT)‐laden fluorine‐doped tin oxide substrate. Scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy revealed that the polymer was infused throughout the thickness of the 150‐nm thick CNT mat, resulting in a conducting composite film with a dense CNT network. The electropolymerized poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (e‐P3HT)/CNT composites exhibited photoluminescence intensity quenching by as much as 92% compared to the neat e‐P3HT, which provided evidence of charge transfer from the polymer phase to the CNT phase. Through‐film impedance and J‐V measurements of the composites gave a conductivity (σ) of 1.2 × 10?10 S cm?1 and zero‐field mobility (μ0) of 8.5 × 10?4 cm2 V?1 s?1, both of which were higher than those of neat e‐P3HT films (σ = 9.9 × 10?12 S cm?1, μ0 = 3 × 10?5 cm2 V?1 s?1). In electropolymerized samples, the thiophene rings were oriented in the (010) direction (thiophene rings parallel to substrate), which resulted in a broader optical absorbance than for spin coated samples, however, the lack of long‐range conjugation caused a blueshift in the absorbance maximum from 523 nm for unannealed regioregular P3HT (rr‐P3HT) to 470 nm for e‐P3HT. Raman spectroscopy revealed that π‐π stacking in e‐P3HT was comparable to that in rr‐P3HT and significantly higher than in regiorandom P3HT (ran‐P3HT) as shown by the principal Raman peak shift from 1444 to 1446 cm?1 for e‐P3HT and rr‐P3HT to 1473 cm?1 for ran‐P3HT. This work demonstrates that these polymer/CNT composites may have interesting properties for electro‐optical applications. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The highly sensitive determination of ofloxacin (OFL) in human serum and urine was achieved on a novel tryptophan‐graphene oxide‐carbon nanotube (Trp‐GO‐CNT) composite modified glassy carbon electrode (Trp‐GO‐CNT/GCE). The Trp‐GO‐CNT composite was fabricated, and its morphologies and surface functional groups were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE‐SEM) and Fourier transform infrared (FT‐IR) spectroscopy. The electrochemical properties of Trp‐GO‐CNT/GCE were investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The superior electrochemical behaviors of Trp‐GO‐CNT/GCE toward OFL can be mainly assigned to the excellent electrocatalytic activity of Trp, the great conductivity and high surface area of GO and CNT, and the synergistic effect between Trp, GO and CNT. Under optimum conditions, a wide and valuable linear range (0.01–100 μM), a low detection limit (0.001 μM, S/N=3), a good linear relationship (R2>0.999), good stability and repeatability were obtained for the quantitative determination of OFL. Furthermore, the Trp‐GO‐CNT electrochemical sensor was successfully applied to the determination of OFL in human serum and urine samples, and satisfactory accuracy and recovery could be obtained.  相似文献

Medium molecular weight poly(L ,L ‐lactide)s (PLA) containing at one chain end ionic group derived from imidazolium ionic liquid (IL) were synthesized by cationic polymerization using hydroxylated IL as initiator. matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization time‐of‐flight analysis confirmed the structure of products (PLA‐IL). Carbon nanotubes (CNT) were dispersed in solution of PLA‐IL in 1,4‐dioxane and significant improvement of stability of suspension was observed by measurements of suspension absorbance. Similar effect was, however, observed also for solutions of PLA which did not contain terminal IL group. CNT samples treated with PLA‐IL and PLA were isolated, thoroughly washed with 1,4‐dioxane and stability of suspensions was again measured. Sample treated with PLA after washing behave similarly to untreated CNT. Stability of suspension of CNT treated with PLA‐IL after washing was considerably higher than that of untreated CNT and the presence of polymer bound to CNT was clearly detectable in scanning electron microscopy images. Results indicate that there is indeed an interaction between end‐group derived from IL and CNT surface as postulated earlier but to observe solely this effect an excess of polymer should be removed, otherwise factors such as increase of viscosity of solution or weak interactions of PLA ester groups with CNT may obscure results. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Summary: Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been grown on MCM‐41 supported Fe nanoparticles and the as‐prepared (no further purification) CNT‐silica hybrid was directly incorporated into nylon‐6 (PA6) by simple melt‐compounding. The urchin‐shaped CNT‐silica hybrid filler was observed to be homogeneously dispersed throughout the matrix by scanning electron and transmission electron microscopy. Compared with neat PA6, the tensile modulus and strength of the composite are greatly improved by about 110%, with incorporation of only 1 wt.‐% CNT‐silica filler.

By using a weak modulated laser intensity we have succeeded in reversibly controlling the dynamics of the spin‐crossover (SC) single crystal [{Fe(NCSe)(py)2}2(m‐bpypz)] inside the thermal hysteresis. The experiment could be repeated several times with a reproducible response of the high‐spin low‐spin interface and without crystal damage. In‐depth investigations as a function of the amplitude and frequency of the excitation brought to light the existence of a cut‐off frequency ca. 1.5 Hz. The results not only document the applicability of SC materials as actuators, memory devices, or switches, but also open a new avenue for the reversible photo‐control of the spin transition inside the thermal hysteresis.  相似文献

Modification of cellulosic paper with carbon nanotubes (CNT) was studied for the development of electronic and analytical devices. Interesting results were published by using a CNT aqueous solution and the capillary forces of filter paper to make conductive tracks, supercapacitors, potentiometric electrodes and chemometric sensors. In this report, we show for the first time an electrochemical characterization of CNT‐CS‐SDS paper electrodes constructed with an ink containing optimized proportions of multi‐wall CNT, chitosan (CS) and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), and we compared our data with CNT‐SDS paper electrodes constructed with a previously reported ink. We achieved better reversibility (ΔE=131±14 mV, CVs) and reproducibility (RSD=3.63 %) with CNT‐CS‐SDS paper electrodes, when compared to CNT‐SDS paper electrodes (ΔE=249±7 mV; RSD=6.8 %) used as controls. When electrodes were fold at 90° angle, CNT‐CS‐SDS paper electrodes showed lower RSD than CNT‐SDS paper electrodes, 8.43 % and 21.5 % respectively. These results are in concordance with SEM analysis indicating a dense CS film in CNT‐CS‐SDS paper electrodes. As a proof of concept, we determine dopamine concentration by DPV in the presence of ascorbic and uric acids, the limit of detection calculated was 6.32 μM. Moreover, a bismuth‐film was prepared by in situ plating of Bi into CNT‐CS‐SDS paper electrodes. ASV allowed us to detect Pb in the presence of Bi (10–200 ppb) with a limit of detection of 6.74 ppb.  相似文献

In this study, the maleimide‐thiophene copolymer‐functionalized graphite oxide sheets (PTM21‐GOS) and carbon nanotubes (PTM21‐CNT) were developed for polymer solar cell (PSC) applications. The grafting of PTM21‐OH onto the CNT and GO sheets was confirmed using FTIR spectroscopy. PTM21‐CNT and PTM21‐GOS exhibited excellent dispersal behavior in organic solvents. Better thermal stability was observed for PTM21‐CNT and PTM21‐GOS as compared with that for PTM21‐OH. In addition, the optical band gaps of PTM21‐GOS and PTM21‐CNT were lower than that of PTM21‐OH. We incorporated PTM21‐GOS and PTM21‐CNT individually into poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT)/[6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) blends for use as photoconversion layers of PSCs. Good distributional homogeneity was observed for PTM21‐GOS or PTM21‐CNT in the P3HT/PCBM blend film. The UV–vis absorption peaks of the blend films red‐shifted slightly upon increasing the content of PTM21‐GOS or PTM21‐CNT. The band gap energies and LUMO/HOMO energy levels of the P3HT/PTM21‐GOS and P3HT/PTM21‐CNT blend films were slightly lower than those of the P3HT film. The conjugated polymer‐functionalized PTM21‐GOS and PTM21‐CNT behaved as efficient electron acceptors and as charge‐transport assisters when incorporated into the photoactive layers of the PSCs. PV performance of the PSCs was enhanced after incorporating PTM21‐GOS or PTM21‐CNT in the P3HT/PCBM blend. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part B: Polym Phys, 2013  相似文献

Since the discovery of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and intrinsically conductive polymers, such as polyaniline (PANI) some research has focused on the development of novel hybrid materials by combining CNT and PANI to achieve their complementary properties. Electrically conductive elastomer nano‐composites containing CNT and PANI are described in the present investigation. The synthesis procedure includes in‐situ inverse emulsion polymerization of aniline doped with dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid in the presence of CNT and dissolved styrene‐isoprene‐styrene (SIS) block copolymer, followed by a precipitation–filtration step. The synthesis step is carried out under ultrasonication. The resulting uniform SIS/CNT/PANI dispersions are stable for long time durations. The incorporation of CNT/PANI in the SIS elastomeric matrix improves thermal, mechanical and electrical properties of the nano‐composites. The formation of continuous three‐dimensional CNT/PANI network, assumed to be responsible for enhancement of the resulting nano‐composite properties, is observed by HRSEM. A relatively low percolation threshold of 0.4 wt.% CNT was determined. The Young's modulus of the SIS/CNT/PANI significantly increases in the presence of CNT. High electrical conductivity levels were obtained in the ternary component systems. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The objects of this research are to study the dispersion of CNT (carbon nanotube) in SDS (sodium dodecyl sulfate) aqueous solutions with kinetics approach and to obtain some information about mechanism for this dispersion. Firstly, I measured the UV‐visible absorption at 260 nm of CNT in SDS aqueous solutions after different time of dispersion for different concentrations of CNT and SDS. Then, curves of the time‐dependent absorbance were analyzed by various mathematical models and were found to fit well with equation of A = A∞ exp(‐kobs t), where A∞ is the absorbance at infinite time and kobs is the observed rate constant. The values of A∞, kobs, and, minimum time for dispersion can be obtained. From the effects of concentrations of SDS and CNT on A∞ and kobs, the dissociation constant for CNT‐SDS complex and the optimum ratio of [CNT]/[SDS] can be estimated. Finally, the mechanism for this dispersion may be proposed as” where b‐CNT, CNT, CNT‐SDS, and, ki s are bounded CNT, exfoliated CNT, CNT‐SDS complex, and, the rate constants, respectively. In this mechanism, b‐CNT is firstly unbounded by supersonic energy to form CNT intermediate with rate constant of k1, which is proportional to the supersonic energy per time. The CNT intermediate then recombines to form b‐CNT with rate constant k?1[CNT] or reacts with SDS to form CNT‐SDS complex, which has absorbance at 260 nm in UV‐visible spectrum, with rate constant of k2 [SDS]. Details of kinetics and mechanism will be discussed in this paper.  相似文献

Electron field-emission measurements on individual carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were performed inside the transmission electron microscope (TEM). The field-emission characteristics of CNTs with different tip structures were compared, and their field conversion factor and emission area were studied systematically. It was found that the field-emission characteristics of a CNT depend sensitively on its tip structure, and in particular an opened CNT was shown to be superior to a capped CNT. High-resolution TEM observations revealed that the tip of an opened CNT may, in general, be regarded as being composed of irregular shaped graphitic sheets, and these graphitic sheets have been found to improve dramatically the field-emission characteristics, but the sharp edge may result in larger error in the calculated emission area. The influence of uncertainty in the work function of the CNTs on the field conversion factor and emission area calculation was also investigated.  相似文献

Electropolymerizing azines on a carbon nanotube (CNT) modified electrode yields a high‐surface area interface with excellent electrocatalytic activity towards NADH oxidation. Electrodeposition of poly(methylene green) (PMG) and poly(toluidine blue) (PTBO) on the carboxylated CNT‐modified electrodes was achieved by cyclic voltammetry. The PMG‐CNT interface demonstrates 5.0 mA cm?2 current density for NADH oxidation at 50 mV vs. Ag|AgCl in 20 mM NADH solution. The kinetics of NADH electrocatalysis were analyzed using a quantitative mass‐transport‐corrected model with NADH bulk concentration and applied potential as independent variables. This high‐rate poly(azine)‐CNT interface is potentially applicable to high‐performance bioconversion, bioenergy and biosensors involving NADH‐dependent dehydrogenases.  相似文献

Poly(urea urethane) (PUU) with a poly(dimethylsiloxane) soft segment was synthesized. Different types of conductive fillers—carbon nanotube (CNT), silver‐coated carbon nanotube (CNT–Ag), and nickel‐coated carbon nanotube (CNT–Ni)—were blended with PUU to form partially conductive polymer composites. The results showed that highly conductive metals could improve the conductivity of CNTs significantly. When the filler contents were 3, 4, and 5 parts per hundred parts of resin (phr), the PUU/CNT composites possessed electromagnetic interference shielding effectiveness (SE) at 8.5, 28.4, and 26.0 dB as the electromagnetic wave frequencies were 12.3, 16.2, and 15.9 GHz, respectively. SE of the composites that contained CNT–Ni and CNT–Ag increased with the filler loading. At the same modified‐CNT loading, the CNT–Ni‐filled composites had a higher SE than those filled with CNT–Ag. Tensile stresses ranged from 5.7 to 15.6 MPa (a 177.3% increase) when the CNT concentration reached 8 phr. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part B: Polym Phys 43: 345–358, 2005  相似文献

The objective of this work is to investigate the impact of spin contamination on the prediction of the enthalpies of formation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH) radicals and of the bond dissociation energies of their precursor molecule. These PAH radicals play a major role in the mass growth of soot precursors leading ultimately to the first soot particles. In this work, we highlights the errors due to spin contamination by comparing spin‐unrestricted open‐shell calculations (UHF, UMP2, and Quadratic CI singles and doubles [QCISD(T)]) with spin‐restricted open‐shell calculations (ROHF, ROMP2, and ROCCSD(T)). The results suggest that one should be very careful using any of the spin‐unrestricted methods (even QCISD (T)) unless the values are extremely close to the theoretical value. Following these observations, we propose a new set of best‐estimates for the enthalpies of formation of these critical PAH radicals using spin‐restricted open‐shell ROMP2 and RCCSD(T) calculations. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献
