Summary For the Laplace equation with Signorini boundary conditions two equivalent boundary variational inequality formulations are deduced. We investigate the discretization by a boundary element Galerkin method and obtain quasi-optimal asymptotic error estimates in the underlying Sobolev spaces. An algorithm based on the decomposition-coordination method is used to solve the discretized problems. Numerical examples confirm the predicted rate of convergence.  相似文献

We consider a waveguide modeled by the Laplacian in a straight planar strip. The Dirichlet boundary condition is taken on the upper boundary, while on the lower boundary we impose periodically alternating Dirichlet and Neumann condition assuming the period of alternation to be small. We study the case when the homogenization gives the Neumann condition instead of the alternating ones. We establish the uniform resolvent convergence and the estimates for the rate of convergence. It is shown that the rate of the convergence can be improved by employing a special boundary corrector. Other results are the uniform resolvent convergence for the operator on the cell of periodicity obtained by the Floquet–Bloch decomposition, the two terms asymptotics for the band functions, and the complete asymptotic expansion for the bottom of the spectrum with an exponentially small error term.  相似文献

This work is concerned with the convergence of a monotone method for fourth-order semilinear elliptic boundary value problems. A comparison result for the rate of convergence is given. This paper applies the technique of the hp version to the boundary element method for boundary value problems on non-smooth, plane domains with piecewise analytic boundary and data. The convergence rate of a fast-converging second-order accurate iterative method with splitting of boundary conditions constructed by the authors for solving an axisymmetric Dirichlet boundary value problem for the Stokes system in a spherical gap is studied numerically. For R/r exceeding about 30, where r and R are the radii of the inner and outer boundary spheres, it is established that the convergence rate of the method is lower (and considerably lower for large R/r) than the convergence rate of its differential version. For this reason, a really simpler, more slowly converging modification of the original method is constructed on the differential level and a finite-element implementation of this modification is built. Numerical experiments have revealed that this modification has the same convergence rate as its differential counterpart for R/r of up to 5 × 103. When the multigrid method is used to solve the split and auxiliary boundary value problems arising at iterations, the modification is more efficient than the original method starting from R/r ~ 30 and is considerably more efficient for large values of R/r. It is also established that the convergence rates of both methods depend little on the stretching coefficient η of circularly rectangular mesh cells in a range of η that is well sufficient for effective use of the multigrid method for arbitrary values of R/r smaller than ~ 5 × 103.  相似文献

We develop and experimentally study the algorithms for solving three-dimensionalmixed boundary value problems for the Laplace equation in unbounded domains. These algorithms are based on the combined use of the finite elementmethod and an integral representation of the solution in a homogeneous space. The proposed approach consists in the use of the Schwarz alternating method with consecutive solution of the interior and exterior boundary value problems in the intersecting subdomains on whose adjoining boundaries the iterated interface conditions are imposed. The convergence of the iterative method is proved. The convergence rate of the iterative process is studied analytically in the case when the subdomains are spherical layers with the known exact representations of all consecutive approximations. In this model case, the influence of the algorithm parameters on the method efficiency is analyzed. The approach under study is implemented for solving a problem with a sophisticated configuration of boundaries while using a high precision finite elementmethod to solve the interior boundary value problems. The convergence rate of the iterations and the achieved accuracy of the computations are illustrated with some numerical experiments.  相似文献

Although in these two cases, the homogenized problem is the same, the asymptotic behavior of solutions is rather different. In particular, the presence of perturbation in the boundary condition in the second problem results in logarithmic rate of convergence, while for non-perturbed problem the rate of convergence is of power-law type.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to the convergence rate estimate for the method of successive subspace corrections applied to symmetric and positive semidefinite (singular) problems. In a general Hilbert space setting, a convergence rate identity is obtained for the method of subspace corrections in terms of the subspace solvers. As an illustration, the new abstract theory is used to show uniform convergence of a multigrid method applied to the solution of the Laplace equation with pure Neumann boundary conditions.

The surface integral equation for a spatial mixed boundary value problem for the Helmholtz equation is considered. At a set of chosen points, the equation is replaced with a system of algebraic equations, and the existence and uniqueness of the solution of this system is established. The ultraconvergence property of a derivative recovery technique recently proposed by Zienkiewicz and Zhu is analyzed for two-point boundary value problems. Under certain regularity assumptions on the exact solution, it is shown that the convergence rate of the recovered derivative at an internal nodal point is two orders higher than the optimal global convergence rate when even-order finite element spaces and local uniform meshes are used.

We study a large time behavior of a solution to the initial boundary value problem for an isentropic and compressible viscous fluid in a one-dimensional half space. The unique existence and the asymptotic stability of a stationary solution are proved by S. Kawashima, S. Nishibata and P. Zhu for an outflow problem where the fluid blows out through the boundary. The main concern of the present paper is to investigate a convergence rate of a solution toward the stationary solution. For the supersonic flow at spatial infinity, we obtain an algebraic or an exponential decay rate. Precisely, if an initial perturbation decays with the algebraic or the exponential rate in the spatial asymptotic point, the solution converges to the corresponding stationary solution with the same rate in time as time tends to infinity. An algebraic convergence rate is also obtained for the transonic flow. These results are proved by the weighted energy method.  相似文献

In this paper, by the Kirchhoff transformation, a Dirichlet-Neumann (D-N) alternating algorithm which is a non-overlapping domain decomposition method based on natural boundary reduction is discussed for solving exterior anisotropic quasilinear problems with circular artificial boundary. By the principle of the natural boundary reduction, we obtain natural integral equation for the anisotropic quasilinear problems on circular artificial boundaries and construct the algorithm and analyze its convergence. Moreover, the convergence rate is obtained in detail for a typical domain. Finally, some numerical examples are presented to illustrate the feasibility of the method.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with a family of second‐order elliptic systems in divergence form with rapidly oscillating periodic coefficients. We initiate the study of homogenization and boundary layers for Neumann problems with first‐order oscillating boundary data. We identify the homogenized system and establish the sharp rate of convergence in L2 in dimension three or higher. Regularity estimates are also obtained for the homogenized boundary data in both Dirichlet and Neumann problems. The results are used to establish a higher‐order convergence rate for Neumann problems with nonoscillating data. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

In recent years,a nonoverlapping domain decomposition iterative procedure,which is based on using Robin-type boundary conditions as information transmission conditions on the subdomain interfaces,has been developed and analyzed.It is known that the convergence rate of this method is 1-O(h),where h is mesh size.In this paper,the convergence rate is improved to be 1-O(h1/2 H-1/2)sometime by choosing suitable parameter,where H is the subdomain size.Counter examples are constructed to show that our convergence estimates are sharp,which means that the convergence rate cannot be better than 1-O(h1/2H-1/2)in a certain case no matter how parameter is chosen.  相似文献
