To reduce fabrication costs of fibre-optic terminal modules for interactive services, an InGaAsP/InP chip fabrication process has been developed for monolithic integration of a strained-layer multiple quantum well laser, a monitor diode and a photoreceiver with a 1300/1530nm filter. Reception responsivity and output power of the chips are 0.1 AW-1 at 1300nm wavelength and 4.5mW at 1530nm wavelength, respectively. At present, complete modules with fibre pigtail exhibit 0.7mW launch power, but 1.4 mW is expected with the latest chips.  相似文献

A self-starting simple structured dual-wavelength passively mode-locked(ML) erbium-doped fiber(EDF) laser is proposed in this Letter. An all-fiber ring cavity is adopted and a transmission-type semiconductor saturable absorber is used as modelocker. In this laser, there are two gain humps located at the 1530 nm region and the 1550 nm region, respectively. Along with the length of EDF increasing, the intensity of the hump at 1530 nm region is gradually suppressed because of the re-absorption of emission by the ground state. With the proper length of EDF, the gain intensities of two regions are very close. When the pump power is above the ML threshold, the self-starting dual-wavelength ML operation is achieved easily without manual adjustment. The two spectral peaks with close intensities are located at 1532 and 1552 nm, respectively. The effect of intracavity dispersion on the output spectrum is also experimentally demonstrated.  相似文献

The resonance wavelength of the fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) is tuned using two methods. Tunable FBGs are used as the selecting elements in the cavities of tunable lasers. An ytterbium-doped fiber laser with a wavelength tuning range of 1063–1108 nm and an output power of 6 W, a Raman fiber laser with a wavelength tuning range of 1252–1303 nm and an output power of 3 W, and an erbium-doped fiber laser with a wavelength tuning range of 1530–1580 nm are realized, and their characteristics are studied.  相似文献

We present a numerical model of Er3+–Tm3+–Pr3+-co-doped fiber amplifier pumped with 980 nm laser for the first time, to the best of our knowledge. The rate and power propagation equations are solved numerically to analyze the effects of the pump power and active ion concentrations on the gains at 1310, 1470, 1530, 1600, 1650 nm windows. The results show that with pump power of 200 mW and when Pr3+, Tm3+, Er3+ concentrations are around 2.0×1024, 3.0×1024, 1.5×1024 (ions/m3), respectively, the signals at 1470, 1530, 1600 nm may be nearly equally amplified with gain of 11–12.0 dB in the active fiber with length of 11.0 m, and the signals at 1310, 1470 and 1600 nm windows may be nearly equally amplified with gain of 12.0 dB in the active gain medium with length of 15.0 m. With pump power of 300 mW, the signals at 1470, 1530, 1600 nm may be nearly equally amplified with a gain of 16.0 dB in the active medium with a length of 15.0 m.  相似文献

构建了可自启动的双波长运转掺铒光纤锁模激光器.通过优化增益光纤长度,利用掺铒光纤在1530nm附近的再吸收效应调节激光器的增益谱,使激光器在1530nm和1560nm附近具有相同的增益强度.实验中采用31cm掺铒光纤作为增益光纤,以透射式半导体可饱和吸收体作为锁模器件,实现了自启动双波长锁模运转.激光器锁模输出重复频率为58.01MHz,信噪比为58.2dB,最高输出功率为4.8mW.锁模输出的光谱在1532.4nm和1552.3nm处具有两个强度接近的谱峰,谱峰间距约为20nm.该激光器无需手动调节即可实现双波长运转,更便于实际使用.  相似文献

We demonstrate the generation of 10-GHz optical square pulses by injecting a picosecond pulse train into an SOA-based mode-locked fiber laser. The novel scheme exploits nonlinear effects and gain saturation phenomenon in the semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). This technique uses gain-compression dynamics between the input pulses and the generated ones in gain-saturated SOA to form square pulses. The center wavelength of the generated optical square pulse can be tuned from 1530 to 1570 nm by adjusting the center wavelength of the optical band pass filter (OBPF) in the SOA-based mode-locked fiber ring laser. The duty cycle of the output pulse can be tuned from 12.7 to 88.4%, which strongly depends on the input power and intra-cavity power.  相似文献

A parallel-type, pump-shared (PTPS) scheme linear-cavity laser array (LCLA) is proposed and numerically studied. Power-equalization of multiwavelength fiber lasers can be achieved by varying the pumping power ratio, length of the erbium-doped fiber or reflectivity of grating reflector for the individual channels. Before and after power-equalization, the maximum power variation among seven equal-spaced channels, ranging from 1530 to 1560 nm, is 5.8 and 0.2 dB, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper, NRZ format wavelength conversion using cross absorption modulation (XAM) in InGaAsP MQW electroabsorption modulator (EAM) is investigated experimentally in detail for the first time, to the best of our knowledge. The influence of two key operating parameters, input signal power and bias voltage of EAM, on wavelength conversion performance is studied. Experimental results indicate that there exists optimal bias voltage for fixed input signal power and that there exists also optimal input signal power for fixed bias voltage and the lowest power penalty of 0.9 dB is obtained by optimizing these two parameters. The physical explanations are given for these results based on operating characteristic of EAM device. Finally, the probe light wavelength dependence of wavelength conversion is studied for span of 1530–1560 nm.  相似文献

提出了一种基于环形芯铒离子部分掺杂光纤的涡旋光纤放大器。针对该掺铒光纤的放大特性,研究了光纤长度、掺铒浓度与抽运功率对信号模式增益特性的影响。研究结果表明,该光纤放大器能够支持22个轨道角动量模式稳定传输,且C波段(1530~1565 nm)所有信号模式增益大于23 dB,信噪比高于27 dB,差分模式增益小于0.015 dB。所提出的基于环形芯光纤的涡旋光纤放大器具有支持轨道角动量模式数量多、差分模式增益低、信噪比高的优势,对于OAM复用长距离传输系统中的在线放大具有重要参考价值。  相似文献

We report the first demonstration to our knowledge of passive mode locking in a diode-pumped Er(3+) and Yb(3+) codoped YAl(3)(BO(3))(4) laser operating in the 1.5-1.6 microm spectral region. Low-loss GaInNAs quantum-well semiconductor saturable absorber mirrors are used for the initiation and stabilization of the ultrashort-pulse generation. Pulses as short as 4.8 ps were generated at 1530 nm with an average output power up to 280 mW for 2 W of absorbed pump power produced by a high-brightness tapered 980 nm laser diode. Passive mode locking has also been demonstrated around 1555 nm with typical average powers of around 100 mW and pulse durations of 5.1 ps.  相似文献

We report on an optical parametric oscillator (OPO) that is synchronously pumped directly by a diode laser. This laser is an actively mode-locked master-oscillator power-amplifier system that produces 20-ps pulses at 927 nm with a repetition rate of 2.5 GHz and an average power of 0.9 W. The OPO, which is a singly resonant device based on periodically poled lithium niobate, generates 7.8-ps pulses. The OPO threshold is 300 mW of average pump power, and the maximum average idler output power is 78 mW at a wavelength of 2100 nm. By changing the crystal temperature we can wavelength tune the output in the ranges 1530-1737 nm (signal) and 1986-2348 nm (idler). Rapid wavelength tuning of the OPO over 46 nm (signal) and 74 nm (idler) is achieved through tuning the cavity length over 28 microm by use of a piezoelectric transducer.  相似文献

We report the results of a high-statistics, sensitive search for narrow baryon resonances decaying to Xi-pi-, Xi-pi+, Xi+pi-, and Xi+pi+. The only resonances observed are the well known Xi0(1530) and Xi0(1530). No evidence is found for the states near 1862 MeV, previously reported by NA49 [Phys. Rev. Lett. 92, 042003 (2003)]. At the 95% confidence level, we find the upper limit for the production of a Gaussian enhancement with sigma=7.6 MeV in the Xi-pi- effective mass spectrum to be 0.3% of the number of observed Xi0(1530)-->Xi-pi+. We find similarly restrictive upper limits for an enhancement at 1862 MeV in the Xi-pi+, Xi+pi-, and Xi+pi+ mass spectra.  相似文献

We propose and demonstrate a C-band Erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) using amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) power peaking-selective and feedback to achieve highly stabilized and wide dynamic range gain clamping performances. The gain of 16.20 ± 0.13 dB is obtained with the input signal power dynamic range of 30 dB and the maximum noise figure (NF) was 6.6 dB with the input signal power from −35 to −10 dBm. To investigate the gain variation for the probe signals, we applied a saturation tone signal to simulate 16-channel DWDM signals as it is added (dropped) into (from) EDFA. The gain variation of the proposed scheme at a appropriate ring-cavity loss (VOA = 5 dB) is less than 0.13 dB for the input signal power from −35 to −5 dBm and wavelength from 1530 to 1564 nm.  相似文献

The attenuation properties of Co(2+) -doped single-mode optical fibers were experimentally and analytically investigated for preparation of a stable flatband attenuator. By controlling the Co(2+) -doped region in a fiber core, we could prepare a flatband attenuator in which the attenuation in wavelengths 1530-1610 nm was held to within 9.9-10.2 dB (3% variation) and the fluctuation of attenuation was less than 0.1 dB with 1-W input power for 100 h.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose and demonstrate a simple erbium amplifier module based on an erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) and an erbium-doped waveguide amplifier (EDWA) in serial, having gain-flatted (GF) and gain-clamped (GC) functions simultaneously. In first proposed GF amplifier scheme, the maximum gain variation of 2.5 dB can be observed in the effective range of 1528 to 1562 nm and the entire gains are above 35 dB with the input signal power of ?30 dBm. Hence, we investigate second scheme by optical feedback method in the proposed fiber amplifier achieving gain-flattened (GF) and gain-clamped (GC) efficiencies simultaneously. Thus, the maximum gain variations of ±0.8 and ±1.8 dB can be obtained in the operating range of 1530 to 1564 nm, when the input signal powers are ?16 and ?40 dBm, respectively. Moreover, the dynamic gain profile can be adjusted and dynamic input power range is also measured based on the proposed GF and GC fiber amplifier.  相似文献

An efficient 21 cm Bismuth-based erbium doped fiber amplifier (Bi-EDFA) operating in both C- and L-band wavelength regions is proposed and demonstrated. The proposed Bi-EDFA uses the gain medium with an erbium ion concentration of 6300 ppm in conjunction with a double-pass configuration. Compared to conventional silica-based erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (Si-EDFAs) with the same amount of Erbium ions, the Bi-EDFA provides a higher attainable gain as well as a greater amplification bandwidth ranging from 1525 to 1620 nm. The proposed Bi-EDFA achieved a flat-gain of around 23 dB with gain variation of ±3.5 dB within the wavelength region from 1530 to 1565 nm at the maximum pump power of 150 mW. The corresponding noise figures are obtained at an average of 6 dB.  相似文献

An efficient gain-flattened C-band optical amplifier is demonstrated using a hybrid configuration with a Zirconia-based Erbium-doped fibre (Zr-EDF) and a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). The amplifier utilizes a two-stage structure with a midway isolator to improve flat gain characteristic and reduce noise figure. At input signal power of −30 dBm, a flat gain of 28 dB is obtained from wavelength region of 1530 to 1560 nm with gain variation of less than 4 dB. The noise figure is maintained below 11 dB at the flat-gain region. This amplifier has the potential to be used in the high channel count dense wavelength division multiplexing system due to its simplicity and compact design.  相似文献

In an experiment using the CERN SPS hyperon beam, we have measured the cross sections for inclusive production of Ξ0 (accompanied by a charged particle), Ξ(1530)- and Ξ(1530)0 in Ξ--beryllium collisions at 116 GeV/c. All differential cross sections are found to be well described by the from (1?x F )n exp (?bp T 2 ) over the whole accessible kinematical region (x F >0.3). The invariant production spectra for Ξ0, Ξ(1530)- and Ξ(1530)0, as well as those for Ξ-, and Ω- (obtained previously from the same data), are compared to theoretical predictions deduced from a two-component quark-diquark cascade model.  相似文献

Reconfigurable multi-channel optical power splitter is proposed and its optical properties are calculated. The device can dynamically reconfigure the number of splitting channels by providing programmed refractive index modulations on a multimode interference (MMI) waveguide. A reconfigurable 3-channel optical power splitter is designed to work as 1 × 1, 1 × 2 or 1 × 3 optical power splitter depending on the state of the heat electrodes using thermo-optic modulation, and the input light can be distributed to three output channels with sequential orders. The device can work in the whole C-band (1530-1565 nm) with extinction ratio better than −29.0 dB, excess loss better than −0.45 dB, imbalance better than 0.08 dB and polarization dependent loss (PDL) better than 0.14 dB. The design conception is scalable to a multi-channel splitting-on-demand optical power splitter which can divide input light to 1, 2, …, N output channels equally by using the 3-channel reconfigurable optical power splitter as a building block.  相似文献
