The aim of this article is to extend the theory of several complex variables to the non-commutative realm. Some basic results, such as the Bochner-Martinelli formula, the existence theorem of the solutions to the non-homogeneous Cauchy-Riemann equations, and the Hartogs theorem, are generalized from complex analysis in several variables to Clifford analysis in several paravector variables. In particular, the Bochner-Martinelli formula in several paravector variables unifies the corresponding formulas in the theory of one complex variable, several complex variables, and several quaternionic variables with suitable modifications.  相似文献

The class of slice regular functions of a quaternionic variable has been recently introduced and is intensively studied, as a quaternionic analogue of the class of holomorphic functions. Unlike other classes of quaternionic functions, this one contains natural quaternionic polynomials and power series. Its study has already produced a rather rich theory having steady foundations and interesting applications. The main purpose of this article is to prove a Weierstrass factorization theorem for slice regular functions. This result holds in a formulation that reflects the peculiarities of the quaternionic setting and the structure of the zero set of such functions. Some preliminary material that we need to prove has its own independent interest, like the study of a quaternionic logarithm and the convergence of infinite products of quaternionic functions.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce the Schatten class and the Berezin transform of quaternionic operators. The first topic is of great importance in operator theory, but it is also necessary to study the second one, which requires the notion of trace class operators, a particular case of the Schatten class. Regarding the Berezin transform, we give the general definition and properties. Then we concentrate on the setting of weighted Bergman spaces of slice hyperholomorphic functions. Our results are based on the S‐spectrum of quaternionic operators, which is the notion of spectrum that appears in the quaternionic version of the spectral theorem and in the quaternionic S‐functional calculus. It has been found recently that there exists a theory of functions with quaternionic values and in two real variables, which is determined by a Cauchy–Riemann‐type operator with quaternionic variable coefficients, and that is intimately related to the so‐called Mathieu equations. In this work, it is all explained as well as some basic facts of the arising quaternionic function theory. We establish analogues of the basic integral formulas of complex analysis such as Borel–Pompeiu's, Cauchy's, and so on, for this version of quaternionic function theory. This theory turns out to be in the same relation with the Schrödinger operator with special potential as the usual holomorphic functions in one complex variable, or quaternionic hyperholomorphic functions, or functions of Clifford analysis, are with the corresponding Laplace operator. Moreover, it is similar to that of α‐hyperholomorphic functions and the Helmholtz operator. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this Note we announce the basic elements and results of a new theory of regular functions of one quaternionic variable. The theory we describe follows an idea of Cullen, but we use a more geometric approach to show that it is possible to build a rather complete theory. To cite this article: G. Gentili, D.C. In this paper we develop a theory of slice regular functions on a real alternative algebra A. Our approach is based on a well-known Fueter's construction. Two recent function theories can be included in our general theory: the one of slice regular functions of a quaternionic or octonionic variable and the theory of slice monogenic functions of a Clifford variable. Our approach permits to extend the range of these function theories and to obtain new results. In particular, we get a strong form of the fundamental theorem of algebra for an ample class of polynomials with coefficients in A and we prove a Cauchy integral formula for slice functions of class C1.  相似文献

We remind known and establish new properties of the Dieudonné and Moore determinants of quaternionic matrices. Using these linear algebraic results we develop a basic theory of plurisubharmonic functions of quaternionic variables.  相似文献

Beginning in 2006, G. Gentili and D. C. Struppa developed a theory of regular quaternionic functions with properties that recall classical results in complex analysis. For instance, in each Euclidean ball B(0, R) centered at 0 the set of regular functions coincides with that of quaternionic power series $\sum _{n \in {\mathbb {N}}} q^n a_n$ converging in B(0, R). In 2009 the author proposed a classification of singularities of regular functions as removable, essential or as poles and studied poles by constructing the ring of quotients. In that article, not only the statements, but also the proving techniques were confined to the special case of balls B(0, R). Quite recently, F. Colombo, G. Gentili and I. Sabadini (2010) and the same authors in collaboration with D. C. Struppa (2009) identified a larger class of domains, on which the theory of regular functions is natural and not limited to quaternionic power series. The present article studies singularities in this new context, beginning with the construction of the ring of quotients and of Laurent‐type expansions at points p other than the origin. These expansions, which differ significantly from their complex analogs, allow a classification of singularities that is consistent with the one given in 2009. Poles are studied, as well as essential singularities, for which a version of the Casorati‐Weierstrass Theorem is proven.  相似文献

The recent definition of slice regular function of several quaternionic variables suggests a new notion of quaternionic manifold. We give the definition of quaternionic regular manifold, as a space locally modeled on , in a slice regular sense. We exhibit some significant classes of examples, including manifolds which carry a quaternionic affine structure.  相似文献

The scalar spherical wave functions (SWFs) are solutions to the scalar Helmholtz equation obtained by the method of separation of variables in spherical polar coordinates. These functions are complete and orthogonal over a sphere, and they can, therefore, be used as a set of basis functions in solving boundary value problems by spherical wave expansions. In this work, we show that there exists a theory of functions with quaternionic values and of three real variables, which is determined by the Moisil–Theodorescu‐type operator with quaternionic variable coefficients, and which is intimately related to the radial, angular and azimuthal wave equations. As a result, we explain the connections between the null solutions of these equations, on one hand, and the quaternionic hyperholomorphic and anti‐hyperholomorphic functions, on the other. We further introduce the quaternionic spherical wave functions (QSWFs), which refine and extend the SWFs. Each function is a linear combination of SWFs and products of ‐hyperholomorphic functions by regular spherical Bessel functions. We prove that the QSWFs are orthogonal in the unit ball with respect to a particular bilinear form. Also, we perform a detailed analysis of the related properties of QSWFs. We conclude the paper establishing analogues of the basic integral formulae of complex analysis such as Borel–Pompeiu's and Cauchy's, for this version of quaternionic function theory. As an application, we present some plot simulations that illustrate the results of this work. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In some recent works we have developed a new functional calculus for bounded and unbounded quaternionic operators acting on a quaternionic Banach space. That functional calculus is based on the theory of slice regular functions and on a Cauchy formula which holds for particular domains where the admissible functions have power series expansions. In this paper, we use a new version of the Cauchy formula with slice regular kernel to extend the validity of the quaternionic functional calculus to functions defined on more general domains. Moreover, we show some of the algebraic properties of the quaternionic functional calculus such as the S-spectral radius theorem and the S-spectral mapping theorem. Our functional calculus is also a natural tool to define the semigroup e tA when A is a linear quaternionic operator.   相似文献

Triangular operators are an essential tool in the study of nonselfadjoint operators that appear in different fields with a wide range of applications. Although the development of a quaternionic counterpart for this theory started at the beginning of this century, the lack of a proper spectral theory combined with problems caused by the underlying noncommutative structure prevented its real development for a long time. In this paper, we give criteria for a quaternionic linear operator to have a triangular representation, namely, under which conditions such operators can be represented as a sum of a diagonal operator with a Volterra operator. To this effect, we investigate quaternionic Volterra operators based on the quaternionic spectral theory arising from the S-spectrum. This allow us to obtain conditions when a non-selfadjoint operator admits a triangular representation.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce a tangential form of the trace condition for pluriharmonic functions on a smooth bounded domain in Cn that has some convexity. The condition obtained, in the bidimensional case, is related to the complex components of quaternionic regular functions. In the case of the unit ball of Cn, we rewrite the trace condition in terms of spherical harmonics.  相似文献

Regular polynomials with quaternionic coefficients admit only isolated zeroes and spherical zeroes. In this paper we prove a factorization theorem for such polynomials. Specifically, we show that every regular polynomial can be written as a product of degree one binomials and special second degree polynomials with real coefficients. The degree one binomials are determined (but not uniquely) by the knowledge of the isolated zeroes of the original polynomial, while the second degree factors are uniquely determined by the spherical zeroes. We also show that the number of zeroes of a polynomial, counted with their multiplicity as defined in this paper, equals the degree of the polynomial. While some of these results are known in the general setting of an arbitrary division ring, our proofs are based on the theory of regular functions of a quaternionic variable, and as such they are elementary in nature and offer explicit constructions in the quaternionic setting. We show that any quaternionic polynomial with one variable can be represented in such a way that the number of its terms will be not larger than a certain number depending on the degree of the polynomial. We study also some particular cases where this number can be made even smaller. Then we use the above-mentioned representation to study how to check whether two given quaternionic polynomials with one variable are identically equal. We solve this problem for all linear polynomials and for some types of nonlinear polynomials.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a kind of complex representation of quaternion matrices (or quaternion vectors) and quaternion matrix norms, study quaternionic least squares problem with quadratic inequality constraints (LSQI) by means of generalized singular value decomposition of quaternion matrices (GSVD), and derive a practical algorithm for finding solutions of the quaternionic LSQI problem in quaternionic quantum theory.  相似文献

Over the past few years, considerable attention has been given to the role played by the Lamé's Wave Functions (LWFs) in various problems of mathematical physics and mechanics. The LWFs arise via the method of separation of variables for the wave equation in ellipsoidal coordinates. The present paper introduces the Lamé's Quaternionic Wave Functions (LQWFs), which extend the LWFs to a non‐commutative framework. We show that the theory of the LQWFs is determined by the Moisil‐Theodorescu type operator with quaternionic variable coefficients. As a result, we explain the connections between the solutions of the Lamé's wave equation, on one hand, and the quaternionic hyperholomorphic and anti‐hyperholomorphic functions on the other. We establish analogues of the basic integral formulas of complex analysis such as Borel‐Pompeiu's, Cauchy's, and so on, for this version of quaternionic function theory. We further obtain analogues of the boundary value properties of the LQWFs such as Sokhotski‐Plemelj formulae, the ‐hyperholomorphic extension of a given Hölder function and on the square of the singular integral operator. We address all the text mentioned earlier and explore some basic facts of the arising quaternionic function theory. We conclude the paper showing that the spherical, prolate, and oblate spheroidal quaternionic wave functions can be generated as particular cases of the LQWFs. Gabor frames play a vital role not only in modern harmonic analysis but also in several fields of applied mathematics, for instances, detection of chirps, or image processing. In this work we present a non-trivial generalization of Gabor frames to the quaternionic case and give new density results. The key tool is the two-sided windowed quaternionic Fourier transform (WQFT). As in the complex case, we want to write the WQFT as an inner product between a quaternion-valued signal and shifts and modulates of a real-valued window function. We demonstrate a Heisenberg uncertainty principle and for the results regarding the density, we employ the quaternionic Zak transform to obtain necessary and sufficient conditions to ensure that a quaternionic Gabor system is a quaternionic Gabor frame. We conclude with a proof that the Gabor conjecture does not hold true in the quaternionic case.  相似文献

In this paper, we give an equivalent characterization of the domain of definition for the quaternionic Monge–Ampère operator, by using the theory of quaternionic closed positive current we established in [17–19]. This domain of definition for the complex Monge–Ampère operator was introduced by Blocki [7,8].  相似文献

We investigate differentiability of functions defined on regions of the real quaternion field and obtain a noncommutative version of the Cauchy-Riemann conditions. Then we study the noncommutative analog of the Cauchy integral as well as criteria for functions of a quternion variable to be analytic. In particular, the quaternionic exponential and logarithmic functions are being considered. Main results include quaternion versions of Hurwitz' theorem, Mittag-Leffler's theorem and Weierstrass' theorem.  相似文献
