随着光通信技术的不断发展,光纤的应用越来越广泛,而锥形光纤以其独特的传光方式越来越多地应用于光纤连接、成像及测量等领域。实验测定了不同锥角和不同长度锥形光纤的偏振特性。理论上,根据麦克斯韦方程组以及边界条件给出了光在理想光纤中的场分布,阐明了实际光纤中光的传输特性。论证了锥形光纤长度与其偏振特性的关系,进而利用几何光学方法对锥形光纤锥角与其偏振特性的关系作了定性说明。并用具体数据进行了定量计算,得出偏振光经锥形光纤传输或耦合后再传输到其终端所得到均是椭圆偏振光的结论。  相似文献

提出了一种同时基于全内反射和光子带隙效应两种导光机制的双芯光子晶体光纤(PCF),并采用全矢量有限元法对其耦合特性进行了分析。该种光子晶体光纤双芯间的耦合不同于基于单一导光机制的双芯光子晶体光纤,出现了超模交替截止、耦合长度存在极大值等现象,光纤两纤芯间高折射率柱的谐振在双芯间的耦合过程中起着重要的作用。通过改变光纤中空气孔的大小及间距可以显著改变光纤的耦合长度,而改变高折射率柱的折射率可对耦合长度极大值的位置进行调节。  相似文献

研究了偏心激励多模聚合物光纤横截面的光功率分布。用光线追迹法计算了不同的激励源偏心距离和光纤长度时,光纤出射端横截面的光功率分布,并用二维CMOS图像探测器阵列进行了测量。数值计算和实验测量的结果均表明随着激励源偏心距的增加,光功率分布由光纤轴心向外偏移并形成环状;光功率分布在圆周方向的均匀性随着光纤长度的增加而趋于均匀。对中心激励的弯曲光纤光功率分布的测量结果表明,当弯曲曲率半径远大于临界曲率半径时,光功率分布无显著展宽,光功率分布随曲率半径的减小而向曲率外侧偏移;当光纤弯曲半径接近于临界曲率半径时,光功率分布显著展宽。  相似文献

提出一种液晶填充碲酸盐玻璃的柚子型光子晶体光纤偏振旋转器,利用全矢量有限元法,对液晶填充碲酸盐玻璃的柚子型光子晶体光纤的偏振旋转特性进行数值模拟,并分析了光纤结构参数、环境温度、工作波长等对光纤偏振旋转特性的影响.研究结果表明:此种偏振旋转器具有较高的旋转效率、较低的工作串扰和较短的旋转长度,在工作波长为1.55μm、偏振角度为45°时,其值分别达到99.947%、-32.84dB和197μm;另外,随着光纤薄壁厚度的增加,旋转长度随之升高,随着工作波长的变大,旋转长度随之降低,随着温度的增加,旋转长度随之升高.这种新型的光子晶体光纤为偏振旋转器的研发提供了参考.  相似文献

基于蒙特卡罗的模拟方法,设计了一个基于塑料闪烁光纤阵列的γ射线位置灵敏探测器并对其性能进行了系统的研究.分析了该探测器在高能γ粒子辐照下的康普顿散射特性和圆形塑料闪烁光纤的能量泄漏情况,发现随着入射能量的不同,康普顿边缘峰值也相应变化,并且和入射光子能量--对应.考虑阵列间粒子串扰的情况下,利用此特性得到该位置灵敏探测器在0.8~7.0MeV的γ入射能量下,能量分辨率和空间分辨率分别能够达到10%和cm 量级.但由于闪烁光纤原子序数较低,在较高能区的探测效率也较低,只有15%左右或更低.这就使得利用闪烁光纤阵列探测器不能同时满足较好的空间分辨率和能量分辨率,两者出现-定的矛盾.  相似文献

基于熔锥型光纤耦合器在拉锥过程中光纤锥形的渐变特性和光纤之间熔融度的变化特点,构建了光纤耦合器在拉制过程中波导结构的变化模型.利用光束传播法对耦合器的拉制过程进行数值模拟,得到耦合器输出光功率随拉伸长度的变化规律以及耦合器的能量分布图.理论模拟和实验结果表明,光纤间熔融度与制作耦合器时的氢气流量及拉伸速度有关,氢气流量大,拉伸速度小,熔融度就大;光纤之间的耦合作用与拉伸长度及熔融度有关,拉伸长度增加或熔融度增大,都会使光纤间的耦合更加显著;拉伸长度不大时,锥形区的耦合可以忽略;随着拉伸长度的增加,光纤变细,耦合作用逐渐增强,锥形区的耦合现象越明显,同时光场也逐渐由纤芯向外发散,产生附加损耗.  相似文献

提出了一种正方形排列渐增空气孔高双折射光子晶体光纤,并利用多极方法对光纤基模的模场分布、色散、双折射以及损耗特性进行了数值模拟.模拟结果表明利用这种结构可以在包层空气孔层数较少的情况下实现极低的限制损耗,通过调节内层空气孔的分布可以有效地控制光纤的双折射和色散特性.本结果对高双折射光子晶体光纤的制备具有一定的指导意义. 关键词: 光子晶体光纤 双折射 限制损耗 多极方法  相似文献

将光纤布拉格光栅近似为一维光子晶体,研究光栅的能带结构和光学传输特性。利用平面波展开法对光子晶体进行理论研究,将研究方法移植到光纤布拉格光栅上,并对其进行数值分析,得到光栅的传输特性。研究表明,光栅反射谱有多个反射峰,峰值中心频率是基频的整数倍,而且峰值处存在光子带隙,反射峰带宽对应光子带隙宽度,中心频率和带宽随光栅长度、高介电常量材料占空比、调制深度而变化。结果与传统的耦合模理论一致。  相似文献

锥形结构的光纤光栅具有对应力敏感而对温度不敏感的特性,这可以有效抑制温度与应力的交叉敏感问题.提出一种利用熔融拉锥技术实现对称双锥形结构的光纤光栅,结合传输矩阵法建立其传感特性理论模型并加以分析.首先研究影响啁啾系数变化的因素,得到啁啾系数与光栅长度变化量的关系;其次对对称熔融拉锥型光纤光栅的光谱特性进行分析,讨论光谱短波长处出现密集调制现象的成因;然后仿真研究温度和应力对对称熔融拉锥型光纤光栅的反射谱影响,得到对应的中心波长和光谱宽度的变化关系.并针对应力灵敏度较低问题,提出聚合物涂覆锥区增大传感锥区光纤半径差而进行增敏的方案,利用熔融拉锥法制备对称熔融型光纤光栅,通过实验验证理论仿真的正确性,对称熔融拉锥型光纤光栅应力灵敏度为0.11391 nm/N.研究表明,对称熔融拉锥型光纤光栅的啁啾系数与光栅长度变化量满足线性关系.对称熔融拉锥型光纤光栅端处光栅周期较小,且反射率小于1,左边透射光与右边反射光会产生干涉,因此光谱短波长处会出现密集调制现象.随着轴向应力的增大,光栅反射中心波长向长波方向移动,光谱宽度变大,且两者与轴向应力均满足线性关系;随着温度升高,反射谱峰中心波长向长波方向移动,满足线性关系,而温度对光谱宽度的影响可忽略不计.通过增大传感锥区光纤光栅半径差,光纤光栅的应力灵敏度较之前提高了数百倍,并且增大光栅长度变化量有助于进一步提高应力灵敏度.对称熔融拉锥型光纤光栅的光谱宽度只对应力敏感而对温度不敏感,这一特性可用于实现温度与应力双参量测量.  相似文献

提出并设计了一种基于电光聚合物的锥形波导,可用于单模光纤与电光聚合物波导器件之间的连接.锥形波导中采用了宽度锥形和折射率锥形结构.宽度锥形采用劈形形状,通过宽度和折射率的缓慢变化实现模场转换.劈形形状的宽度锥形具有较小的损耗且易于制作,折射率锥形可采用灰度掩膜光刻技术制作.研究了锥形波导的传输损耗与锥形波导的长度、波导宽度和厚度、材料吸收损耗等参数的关系及其优化,分析了锥形波导中的功率传输、模场分布与模式转换效率.结果显示锥形波导的传输损耗小于0.37 dB,光纤-波导-光纤的连接损耗优于1.62 dB,对插入损耗的改善达到8.78 dB,模场转换效率达到了83.7%.  相似文献

A high efficient LD (laser diode) pumped Tm3+ doped double clad silica fiber laser with an intravacity biconical taper was reported. A biconical taper located ~3 cm from the output end of the fiber laser was fabricated by heating and stretching method with a length 1.5 cm and waist diameter ~20 µm. The slope efficiency was 49.8% with respected to the launched pump power, and the maximum output power was 1.97 W. Pre and post output laser power ratio was ~10. This fiber laser was compared with other three biconical tapered fiber lasers (the same fiber with different tapers) and a uniform geometry fiber laser. With intracavity biconical tapers, fiber lasers’ thresholds were ~1 W higher than the fiber laser without the taper (1.97 W). The pump end’s slope efficiencies of fiber lasers with tapers were 3–5% in contrast with 37.6% of the uniform one. After tapered, the pre and post laser power ratios were much higher than the un-tapered one’s, but not changed much with the launched pump power.  相似文献

The characteristics of a mechanically induced long-period fiber grating (MLPFG) made by pressing a pair of grooved plates over single-mode fiber tapers are analyzed. Fiber tapers with a waist length of 80 mm and diameter ranging from 90 to 125 μm, fabricated using the heating and puling method, were used. We observed that the resonance wavelengths shift toward shorter wavelengths as the fiber taper waist diameter is reduced. A maximum shift of 254 nm in the position of the resonance peaks was observed when the fiber diameter was reduced to 90 μm. This technique is particularly suitable for tuning the resonance wavelengths to shorter wavelengths below the limit imposed by the grooved plate period.  相似文献

Compact optical fiber curvature sensor based on concatenating two tapers   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A low-loss, compact, and highly sensitive optical fiber curvature sensor is presented. The device consists of two identical low-loss fused fiber tapers in tandem separated by a distance L. When the optical fiber is kept straight and fixed, no interference pattern appears in the transmitted spectrum. However, when the device is bent, the symmetry of the straight taper is lost and the first taper couples light into the cladding modes. In the second taper, a fraction of the total light guided by the cladding modes will be coupled back to the fundamental mode, producing an interference pattern in the transmitted spectrum. As the fiber device is bent, visibility of the interference fringes grows, reaching values close to 1. The dynamic range of the device can be tailored by the proper selection of taper diameter and separation between tapers. The effects of temperature and refractive index of the external medium on the response of the curvature sensor is also discussed.  相似文献

This study proposes a simple, cost-effective method to fabricate fiber-based Mach–Zehnder interferometer (MZI) sensors by concatenating two ultra-abrupt fiber tapers together using a fusion splicer. By concatenating, the taper diameter and length ratio is 1:1 that is much greater than that (1:10) by stretching. The refractive index sensitivity is comparable to the MZI sensors based on long-period fiber grating pairs or stretched fiber taper pairs. The MZI fiber claddings are etched to improve the sensitivity of refractive index measurements. The sensitivity is 664.57 nm/RIU (refractive index unit) for the refractive index ranging from 1.3348 to 1.3558, which is 2–6 times greater than those measured by long period fiber gratings (LPFGs) after sensitivity enhancement.  相似文献

Investigations of internal structure changes along an optical fiber during the manufacture of biconical taper have been described. Basing on the constant volume theory, classification of biconical structures manufactured on a special set-up is presented and discussed. The interferometric tomography method has been used for determination of 3D geometry and refractive index distribution in manufactured optical fiber tapers. The experiments provide detailed information on external (diameter of cladding) as well as internal (core diameter and refractive index profile) changes along the taper region. The results have been discussed in relation to the parameters of the manufacturing process.  相似文献

An interference-based scheme for fabricating periodic metal gratings on one side of the uniform waist of optical fiber tapers has been developed. Optical characterization of a 5 mm long, 511 nm period gold grating fiber taper with a 10 microm diameter reveals backward coupling to both guided and radiation modes that is explained by using an analytical mode-coupling analysis. A refractometer based on this grating taper has a high and constant sensitivity over a large refractive index operating range of 1 to 1.41.  相似文献

A stable C- and L-band tunable fiber ring laser, using a two-taper Mach-Zehnder interferometer (MZI) as a filter, is proposed and demonstrated experimentally. One of the two taper waists is mechanically bent to tune the laser wavelength. Being amplified by an L-band erbium-doped fiber amplifier and an erbium-doped fiber, respectively, the fiber ring laser has a full L-band (1564-1605nm) and C-band (1550-1565nm) tuning range with a side-mode suppression ratio as high as 50dB. The laser linewidth and the minimum tuning step are related to the MZI's cavity length. It was also found that thermal annealing relieved the internal stresses of the tapers and greatly improved the laser performance.  相似文献

An approach for preserving the mode field diameter (MFD) in fiber tapers is demonstrated. The approach utilizes concentric dual-core fibers, which couple light from an inner core to an outer core through a taper. Fibers with a 6 μm MFD feedthrough and a 15 μm polarization maintaining feedthrough are demonstrated experimentally. Simulations of the MFD in the tapered dual-core fibers are also presented.  相似文献
