The main concern of this article is to study Ulam stability of the set of ε-approximate minima of a proper lower semicontinuous convex function bounded below on a real normed space X, when the objective function is subjected to small perturbations (in the sense of Attouch & Wets). More precisely, we characterize the class all proper lower semicontinuous convex functions bounded below such that the set-valued application which assigns to each function the set of its ε-approximate minima is Hausdorff upper semi-continuous for the Attouch–Wets topology when the set $\mathcal{C}(X)$ of all the closed and nonempty convex subsets of X is equipped with the Hausdorff topology. We prove that a proper lower semicontinuous convex function bounded below has Ulam-stable ε-approximate minima if and only if the boundary of any of its sublevel sets is bounded.  相似文献

In this article a unified approach is presented to hypertopologies on collections of nonempty closed subsets of a Hausdorff uniform space generated by a saturated and separating family of pseudo-metrics. One identifies here a suitable topology on the family of proper, convex and lower semicontinuous functions defined on a Hausdorff locally convex space for which the Young Fenchel transform is bicontinuous. This improves a well known result due to Mosco, Joly and Beer.  相似文献

This paper analizes the relationship between the stability properties of the closed convex sets in finite dimensions and the stability properties of their corresponding boundaries. We consider a given closed convex set represented by a certain linear inequality system whose coefficients can be arbitrarily perturbed, and we measure the size of these perturbations by means of the pseudometric of the uniform convergence. It is shown that the feasible set mapping is Berge lower semicontinuous at if and only if the boundary mapping satisfies the same property. Moreover, if the boundary mapping is semicontinuous in any sense (lower or upper; Berge or Hausdorff) at , then it is also closed at . All the mentioned stability properties are equivalent when the feasible set is a convex body.  相似文献

A closed subsetM of a Hausdorff locally convex space is called d.c. representable if there are an extended-real valued lsc convex functionf and a continuous convex functionh such that $$M = \{ x \in X:f(x) - h(x) \leqslant 0\} .$$ Using the existence of a locally uniformly convex norm, we prove that any closed subset in a reflexive Banach space is d.c. representable. For d.c. representable subsets, we define an index of nonconvexity, which can be regarded as an indicator for the degree of nonconvexity. In fact, we show that a convex closed subset is weakly closed when it has a finite index of nonconvexity, and optimization problems on closed subsets with a low index of nonconvexity are less difficult from the viewpoint of computation.  相似文献

Given two compatible metrics on a metrizable space X. It is well known that they give rise to the same Hausdorff hypertopologies and upper Hausdorff hypertopologies, on the collection of all closed subsets of X, if and only if they are uniformly equivalent. This is no longer true for the lower Hausdorff hypertopology; indeed a weaker condition is needed, and this condition has been found by Costantini and Vitolo.  相似文献

We discuss several concepts of continuity, weaker than lower semicontinuity, but still implying the existence of a continuous selection for a closed convex valued multifunction from a paracompact Hausdorff topological space into a Banach space. In this way, an extension of Michael's celebrated selection theorem is given. Our general result says that the closed convex hull of a set K consists of barycentres of probability contents (i.e., finitely additive set functions) on K. (Here K can be any nonempty subset of any nonempty compact convex set in any real or complex locally convex Hausdorff vector space.) In the equivalent setting of dual spaces, we give a very handy analytic criterion for a linear functional to be in the closed convex hull of a given nonempty point‐wise bounded set K of linear functionals (under some mild additional assumption). This is the notion of a K‐spectral state. Our criterion enhances the Abstract Bochner Theorem for unital commutative Banach *‐algebras (which easily follows from our result), in that it allows us to prescribe the set K on which a representing content should live. On a fixed closed time interval we consider a quasilinear pursuit differential game with a convex compact target set under a phase constraint in the form of a convex closed set. We construct a convex compact guaranteed capture set similar to an alternating Pontryagin sum and define the guaranteed piecewise-programmed strategy of the pursuer ensuring the hitting of the target set by the phase vector satisfying the phase constraint in finite time. Under certain conditions, we prove the convergence of the constructed alternating sum in the Hausdorff metric to a convex compact set, which is an analog of the alternating Pontryagin integral for the differential game.  相似文献

A ball of maximal radius inscribed in a convex closed bounded set with a nonempty interior is considered in the class of uniformly convex Banach spaces. It is shown that, under certain conditions, the centers of inscribed balls form a uniformly continuous (as a set function) set-valued mapping in the Hausdorff metric. In a finite-dimensional space of dimension n, the set of centers of balls inscribed in polyhedra with a fixed collection of normals satisfies the Lipschitz condition with respect to sets in the Hausdorff metric. A Lipschitz continuous single-valued selector of the set of centers of balls inscribed in such polyhedra can be found by solving n + 1 linear programming problems.  相似文献

We deduce an upper bound for the Hausdorff distance between a nonempty bounded set and the set of all closed balls in a strictly convex straight geodesic space X of nonnegative curvature. We prove that the set $\chi \left[ {\rm M} \right]$ of centers of closed balls approximating a convex compact set in the Hausdorff metric in the best possible way is nonempty X [M] and is contained in M. In this paper we define for every totally convex space a suitable topology, the radial topology. We prove that a morphism in the category TCsep of separated totally convex spaces is an epimorphism if and only if its image is dense in the radial topology, and that TCsep is the full subcategory of TC generated by its Hausdorff objects. A convex subset Q of a Hausdorff topological vector space is called locally nonconical (LNC) if for every two points x,yQ there is a relative neighborhood U of x in Q such that U+ (y-x) Q. A geometric characterization (Theorem 2.2) of closed LNC sets with nonempty interior in a Hilbert space is supplied. It states that any proper line segment ]x,y[ contained in bd(Q), the topological boundary of Q, lies inside a relative neighborhood in bd(Q) composed of parallel line segments. It is shown that one half of this characterization, at least, generalizes to the setting of a locally convex Hausdorff topological vector space (LCHTVS). This leads to the observation that the set ext(Q) of extreme points of any LNC set Q in an LCHTVS is closed. Finally, it is proven that, in the same setting, all LNC sets are uniformly stable and, hence, stable.  相似文献

It is shown that, on a closed convex subset X of a real Hausdorff locally convex space E, a continuous linear functional x′ on E has an extremum at an extreme point of X, provided X contains no line and X ∩ (x′)?1 (λ0) is non-empty and weakly compact for some real λ0.
