The objective of the present study is to utilize fly ash cenosphere to remove methylene blue (MB) from the water streams. Nickel oxide is a typical semiconductor used as proficient adsorbent material for degradation of dye with environment friendly applications due to its excellent chemical stability and high catalytic activity. The chitosan cenosphere buoyant composite coated with NiO was synthesized with hydrothermal grafting reaction using silane coupling agent and epichlorohydrin as a cross-linking reagent. The batch adsorption experiments were carried out with a cationic dye, methylene blue as a representative organic pollutant to investigate the adsorptive capabilities of the composite as adsorbent. The influence of pH (2-12), initial concentration of dye (50–200 mg/L), temperature (37–47 °C) and contact time (0–24 h) were taken as parameters in the study. On the relative elimination of MB, the effect of time and temperature were investigated. The adsorption kinetics for MB was correlated and found to observe the pseudo-second order kinetic model, whereas the equilibrium adsorption isotherm follows the Langmuir model (R2 > 0.99). The results indicate that the floating fly ash cenosphere coated with NiO proved to be more responsive for enhanced degradation of methylene blue.  相似文献

In this study, an artificial neural network (ANN) has been developed to predict the adsorption amount of dye (methylene blue) onto multiwalled carbon nanotubes. Batch experiments have been carried out to obtain experimental data. Important parameters in the adsorption system such as initial dye concentration, adsorbent dosage, temperature, pH and contact time have been used as the inputs of the network, while the output is the final concentration of dye in aqueous solution after adsorption. The neural network structure has been optimized by testing various training algorithms and different number of neurons in a hidden layer. An empirical equation for determination of final dye concentration in aqueous solutions after adsorption has been developed by using the weights of the optimized network. The results of the optimized ANN have been compared with conventional models in equilibrium and kinetic fields. According to error analysis and determination coefficient, the ANN was found to be the most appropriate model to describe this adsorption process. Sensitivity analysis showed that initial dye concentration, pH and contact time are the most effective parameters in this process. The influence percentages of these parameters on the output were 28, 24 and 24 %, respectively.  相似文献

The removal of cationic dyes, methylene blue(MB) and rhodamine B(RB), and anionic dyes, methyl or-ange(MO) and eosin Y(EY), from aqueous solutions by adsorption using Cu2Se nanoparticles(Cu2SeNPs) was studied. The effects of the initial pH values, adsorbent doses, contact time, initial dye concentrations, salt concentrations, and operation temperatures on the adsorption capacities were investigated. The adsorption process was better fitted the Langmuir equation and pseudo-second-order kinetic model, and was spontaneous and endothermic as well. The adsorption mechanism was probably based on the electrostatic interactions and π-π interactions between Cu2SeNPs and dyes. For an adsorbent of 0.4 g/L of Cu2SeNPs, the adsorption capacities of 23.1(MB), 22.9(RB) and 23.9(EY) mg/g were achieved, respectively, with an initial dye concentration of 10 mg/g(pH=8 for MB and pH=4 for RB and EY) and a contact time of 120 min. The removal rate of MB was still 70.4% for Cu2SeNPs being reused in the 5th cycle. Furthermore, the recycled Cu2SeNPs produced from selenium nanoparticles adsorbing copper were also an effective adsorbent for the removal of dyes. Cu2SeNPs showed great potential as a new adsorbent for dyes removal due to its good stability, functionalization and reusability.  相似文献

Batch experiments were carried out for the sorption of methylene blue onto rice husk particles. The operating variables studied were initial solution pH, initial dye concentration, adsorbent concentration, and contact time. Equilibrium data were fitted to the Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm equations and the equilibrium data were found to be well represented by the Langmuir isotherm equation. The monolayer sorption capacity of rice husks for methylene blue sorption was found to be 40.5833 mg/g at room temperature (32 degrees C). The sorption was analyzed using pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetic models and the sorption kinetics was found to follow a pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Also the applicability of pseudo second order in modeling the kinetic data was also discussed. The sorption process was found to be controlled by both surface and pore diffusion with surface diffusion at the earlier stages followed by pore diffusion at the later stages. The average external mass transfer coefficient and intraparticle diffusion coefficient was found to be 0.01133 min(-1) and 0.695358 mg/g min0.5. Analysis of sorption data using a Boyd plot confirms that external mass transfer is the rate limiting step in the sorption process. The effective diffusion coefficient, Di was calculated using the Boyd constant and was found to be 5.05 x 10(-04) cm2/s for an initial dye concentration of 50 mg/L. A single-stage batch-adsorber design of the adsorption of methylene blue onto rice husk has been studied based on the Langmuir isotherm equation.  相似文献

Pollution caused by organic dyes is of serious environmental and health concern to the population. Dyes are widely used in textile coloring applications. In the present work, cotton textile was coated with a conducting polymer, polypyrrole (PPy), in situ during the oxidative polymerization of pyrrole. The resulting materials were utilized as easily separated and recyclable adsorbent for the removal of methylene blue (MB) as a model of cationic dyes in alkaline solutions. It showed also some affinity to remove Acid Green 25 as an anionic dye in acidic medium. The adsorption was assessed by monitoring the decrease in dye concentration by UV–Visible absorption spectroscopy. The influence of various parameters such as initial dye concentration, contact time, pH, temperature, and adsorbent dose on the adsorption process was studied. The pseudo-second-order kinetic model and Freundlich isotherm model were found to describe the adsorption process. The thermodynamic study revealed that the adsorption of MB by PPy was feasible, spontaneous, and exothermic process. Investigation of the substrate regeneration revealed that PPy deposited on cotton textile can be reused for dye adsorption several times with good efficiency and it allows for the recovery of MB for recycling purposes.  相似文献

In this work the activated pine cone was investigated as adsorbent to remove Remazol Brilliant Blue R from aqueous solution. The effects of various experimental parameters such as initial dye concentration, contact time, temperature, adsorbent dose and pH were examined. The adsorption of Remazol Brilliant Blue R from aqueous solution was increased with the increase in initial dye concentration, contact time, temperature, adsorbent dose but decreased with the increase in the pH. The results in this study indicated that the activated pine cone was an attractive candidate for removing Remazol Brilliant Blue R.  相似文献

The hydrophilic multi-walled carbon nanotube(MWCNT)hydrogel was prepared using acrylic acid,acrylamide and hydrophilic MWCNT.The orthogonal experiment was applied to optimize the synthetic conditions.The MWCNT hydrogel was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer(FTIR)and scanning electron microscopy(SEM)analysis.The MWCNT hydrogel was used as the adsorbent to adsorb water-soluble cationic dye.This study evaluated the adsorption performance of hydrogels on four dyes of safranine Ts crystal violet,malachite green and methylene blue in water.The effects of the amount of hydrogel,the size of hydrogel,pH;and the temperature on the adsorption performance were investigated.The adsorption kinetic and adsorption isotherm curves were measured.The experimental results show that the MWCNT hydrogel can be easily separated from water and the adsorption capacity is much greater compared to the hydrogel without MWCNT.The MWCNT hydrogels can be used in wastewater treatment with a great potential.  相似文献

合成的羧基化石墨烯(G-COOH)用FT-IR进行表征,并对G-COOH用于水溶液中甲基紫、中性红、灿烂黄和茜素红4种离子型染料的吸附性能进行了研究。 考察了吸附剂用量、吸附时间、初始浓度以及溶液pH值等条件对吸附效果的影响。 同时,研究了甲基紫染料的脱附性能,结果表明,用NaOH/EtOH混合溶液洗脱甲基紫,洗脱率可达88.2%,洗脱后的G-COOH可再利用。 从热力学角度探讨得出,G-COOH对阳离子染料甲基紫和中性红的吸附行为能够较好的符合Langmuir等温吸附模型,而对阴离子染料灿烂黄和茜素红的吸附行为则能够较好的符合Freundlich等温吸附模型,计算的吸附参数表明,G-COOH对4种染料的吸附过程容易进行。 动力学研究表明,G-COOH对4种离子型染料的吸附行为均能较好的符合准二级吸附模型。 该实验研究表明,在处理染料废水时,G-COOH为相当优异的吸附剂。  相似文献

Separation of the dyes methyl violet, methylene blue, and congo red from aqueous solutions by paper capillary permeation adsorption method was studied using paper. Nearly 100% of the investigated dyes could be separated under the optimum conditions. The effect of pH on the separation efficiency was studied in particular. At pH 5–9, 1.3–11, and 7–11, the maximum separation was achieved for methyl violet, methylene blue and congo red, respectively. The effects of dye concentration and some foreign ions on the separatability were examined. Moreover, the selective separation of some dyes was attempted by elution with chemical reagents.  相似文献

A novel adsorbent, bioglass nanospheres (BGN), has been prepared by a facile process. The BGN were spheres with an amorphous structure and a relatively high specific surface area, as indicated by SEM, transmission electron microscopy, BET, FTIR, and XRD. This paper was aimed at evaluating the adsorption behavior of this new material for the adsorptive removal of cationic (methylene blue, neutral red) and anionic (congo red) dyes from aqueous solution. The effects of the initial dye concentration, contact time, solution pH, and temperature were investigated. The adsorption kinetics showed that the adsorption behavior followed the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The adsorption isotherm fit well to the Langmuir model. Thermodynamic analyses showed that the adsorption was physisorption, and it was also a spontaneous and endothermic process. The BGN exhibited a good reusability after five consecutive cycles for cationic dyes. In addition, the possible adsorption mechanism was also proposed based on the above experimental results.  相似文献

Hydrogel beads based on the husk of agarwood fruit (HAF)/sodium alginate (SA), and based on the HAF/chitosan (CS) were developed for the removal of the dyes, crystal violet (CV) and reactive blue 4 (RB4), in aqueous solutions, respectively. The effects of the initial pH (2–10) of the dye solution, the adsorbent dosage (0.5–3.5 g/L), and contact time (0–540 min) were investigated in a batch system. The dynamic adsorption behavior of CV and RB4 can be represented well by the pseudo-second-order model and pseudo-first-order model, respectively. In addition, the adsorption isotherm data can be explained by the Langmuir isotherm model. Both hydrogel beads have acceptable adsorption selectivity and reusability for the study of selective adsorption and regeneration. Based on the effectiveness, selectivity, and reusability of these hydrogel beads, they can be treated as potential adsorbents for the removal of dyes in aqueous solutions.  相似文献

Adsorption experiments were carried out to investigate the removal of Cs-134 radionuclide and methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solution using poly(acrylamide–itaconic acid)/N,N′-methelyenediacrylamide/zirconium hydrous oxide composite [poly(AM–IA)/DAM/Zr(OH)4] as an adsorbent. The effects of initial pH value, initial concentration of Cs or MB, adsorbent dose, contact time and temperature on adsorption were investigated. Characterization of the prepared composite was carried out using FT-IR, XRD, TGA, DTA, and SEM. The adsorption behaviors showed that the adsorption kinetics and isotherms were in good agreement with the pseudo-second-order and the Langmuir models indicating the chemosorption mechanism. Thermodynamic studies were carried out and it was found that the process was spontaneous exothermic in nature. Discussion of the results of the adsorption behavior showed that the prepared composite can be used as a promising adsorbent for removal of Cs-134 or MB.  相似文献

The adsorption of a reactive dye, Reactive Yellow 84, from aqueous solution onto synthesized hydroxyapatite was investigated. The experiments were carried out to investigate the factors that influence the dye uptake by the adsorbent, such as the contact time under agitation, absorbent dosage, initial dye concentration, temperature and pH of dye solution. The experimental results show that the amount of dye adsorbed increases with an increase in the amount of hydroxyapatite. The maximum adsorption occurred at the pH value of 5. The equilibrium uptake was increased with an increase in the initial dye concentration in solution. The experimental isotherm data were analyzed using Langmuir isotherm equation. The maximum monolayer adsorption capacity was 50.25 mg/g. The adsorption has a low temperature dependency and was endothermic in nature with an enthalpy of adsorption of 2.17 kJ mol−1.  相似文献

The mesoporous carbon CMK-3 adsorbent was prepared, characterized, and used for the removal of anionic methyl orange dye from aqueous solution. Adsorption experiments were carried out as batch studies at different contact time, pH, initial dye concentration, and salt concentration. The dye adsorption equilibrium was rapidly attained after 60 min of contact time. Removal of dye in acidic solutions was better than in basic solutions. The adsorption of dye increased with increasing initial dye concentration and salt concentration. The equilibrium data were analyzed by the Langmuir and Freundlich models, which revealed that Langmuir model was more suitable to describe the methyl orange adsorption than Freundlich model. Experimental data were analyzed using pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetic models. It was found that kinetics followed a pseudo-second-order equation. Thermodynamic study showed that the adsorption was a spontaneous and exothermic process.  相似文献

Batch sorption experiments were carried out to remove methylene blue from its aqueous solutions using fly ash as an adsorbent. Operating variables studied were initial dye concentration, fly ash mass, pH, and contact time. Maximum color removal was observed at a basic pH of 8. Equilibrium data were represented well by a Langmuir isotherm equation with a monolayer sorption capacity of 5.718 mg/g. Sorption data were fitted to both Lagergren first-order and pseudo-second-order kinetic models and the data were found to follow pseudo-second-order kinetics. Rate constants at different initial concentrations were estimated. The process mechanism was found to be complex, consisting of both surface adsorption and pore diffusion. The effective diffusion parameter D(i) values were estimated at different initial concentrations and the average value was determined to be 2.063 x 10(-9)cm2/s. Analysis of sorption data using a Boyd plot confirms the particle diffusion as the rate-limiting step for the dye concentration ranges studied in the present investigation (20 to 60 mg/L).  相似文献

MCM-22 was employed as an effective adsorbent for removal of basic dyes including methylene blue, crystal violet, and rhodamine B from aqueous solution. The adsorption kinetics and isotherms were investigated. The adsorption capacity of MCM-22 for three dyes follows an order of MB > CV approximately RB. Kinetic studies indicate that the adsorption follows the pseudo second-order kinetics and the adsorption is a two-step diffusion process with film diffusion dominating the process. The adsorption isotherm can be well fitted by both the Langmuir and the Freundlich models. Thermodynamic calculations suggest that the adsorption of basic dyes on MCM-22 is an endothermic reaction.  相似文献

Cheap and efficient adsorbents to remove contaminants of toxic dye molecules from wastewater are strongly in demand for environmental reasons. This study provides a novel design of a monolithic adsorbent from abundant materials via a facile synthetic procedure, which can greatly reduce the problems of the tedious separation of adsorbents from treated wastes. A hierarchically porous cellulose/activated carbon (cellulose/AC) composite monolith was prepared by thermally-induced phase separation of cellulose acetate in the presence of AC, using a mixture of DMF and 1-hexanol, followed by alkaline hydrolysis. The composite monolith had alarge specific surface area with mesopore distribution. It not only showed high uptake capacity towards methylene blue (MB) or rhodamine B (RhB) but could also simultaneously adsorb MB and RhB from their mixture, in which the adsorption of one dye was not influenced by the other one. Remarkable effects of solution pH, initial concentration of dye (C 0), contact time, adsorbent dosage and temperature on the adsorption of MB and RhB onto the composite monolith were demonstrated. The binding data for MB and RhB adsorption on the composite monolith fitted the Freundlich model well, suggesting a heterogeneous surface of the composite monolith. The monolith could retain around 90% of its adsorption capacity after 8 times reuse. These data demonstrate that the cellulose/AC composite monolith has a large potential as a promising adsorbent of low cost and convenient separation for dye in wastewater.  相似文献

Batch adsorption experiments were carried out for the removal of methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solution using attapulgite as adsorbent. The effects of various parameters such as temperature, contact time, the pH value, and attapulgite dosage on the adsorption performance were investigated. The standard curve and regression equation were established by spectrophotometry. The adsorption experimental results showed that the adsorption equilibrium data were well in accord with Langmuir adsorptive model. The optimal result was acquired under the experimental condition of attapulgite dosage 0.18g, MB concentration 50.0mg/L, pH 10, and adsorption time 20min at room temperature.  相似文献

In the present study, nanoparticles of perovskite-type Gd0.5Sr0.5FeO3 (GSFO) were fabricated by a sol–gel method. A series of analytical techniques were used to characterize the crystallinity, morphology, specific surface area and grain size of GSFO powders. The thermal decomposition process of the complex precursor was examined by means of differential thermal analysis–thermal gravimetric analysis. X-ray diffraction results showed that a single perovskite phase was completely formed after calcination at 700 °C. In addition, transmission electron microscopy images revealed that the average size of the particles is approximately 35.23 nm in diameter. The surface morphology and composition of these nanopowders were also investigated using a scanning electron microscope and an energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer. GSFO nanoparticles showed excellent adsorption efficiency towards methylene blue dye in aqueous solution. The adsorption studies were carried out at different pH values, initial dye concentrations, various adsorbent doses and contact time in batch experiments. The dye removal efficiency was found to be increased with increasing the initial pH of the dye solution, and GSFO exhibited good dye removal efficiency at a basic pH, especially at a pH of 12. Experimental results indicated that the adsorption kinetic data follow a pseudo-second-order rate for the tested dye. The isotherm evaluations revealed that the Redlich–Peterson model attained better fits to the experiment's equilibrium data than the Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin, and Dubinin–Radushkevich models.  相似文献
