We calculate the electromagnetic form factor of the pion in quenched lattice QCD. The non-perturbatively improved Sheikoleslami-Wohlert lattice action is used together with the consistently -improved current. We calculate the pion form factor for masses down to mπ = 360 MeV, extract the charge radius, and extrapolate toward the physical pion mass. In the second part, we discuss results for the pion form factor and charge radius at 0.93 Tc and compare with zero temperature results.  相似文献

We compute the electromagnetic form factor of the pion, using non-perturbatively O(a) improved Wilson fermions. The calculations are done for a wide range of pion masses and lattice spacings. We check for finite size effects by repeating some of the measurements on smaller lattices. The large number of lattice parameters we use allows us to extrapolate to the physical point. We present results on two-particle azimuthal correlations of neutral strange baryons (Λ, Λ̄) and mesons (KS 0) for pT=2–6 GeV/c associated with non-identified charged particles in d+Au and Au+Au collisions at  =200 GeV measured by the STAR experiment. We investigate in detail the associated yield of charged particles as a function centrality of the collision and transverse momentum of trigger and associated particles to look for possible flavor, baryon/meson and particle/anti-particle differences. We compare our results to the proton and pion triggered correlations as well as to a fragmentation and recombination model. PACS 25.75.-q; 25.75.Gz  相似文献

Masses of a number of elementary particles are calculated on the basis of the model suggested in [1] with the use of one parameter. In this model, an electron is considered as an electric cloud enclosed inside an elastic lepton shell, electron neutrino ν е is considered as an elastic lepton shell contracted to a minimal size, and muon, pion and kaon are considered as resonators for quanta of virtual neutrinos excited inside the elastic lepton shell. The number and type of these quanta are determined from the decay scheme for μ, π, and K: 2 for the muon (ν е and ), 3 for the pion (ν е , ν μ, and ), and at least 21 for the kaon. The model allows mass ratios approximating the experimental data for these particles to be obtained for the first time, with the ratio of μ and е masses equal to (6πℏс/е 2)2/3 ≅ 188, the ratio of π 0 and μ masses equal to (3/2)2/3, and the ratio of K 0 and π 0 equal masses to 72/3. The calculated e, μ , π 0, and K 0 masses are in the 0.547:105.707:134.963:493.87 (MeV) ratios (normalized by the neutral pion mass). This is in good agreement with the available experimental data. The mass ν е (≅ 0.02 eV) is also estimated in this model, and the variety of K-meson decay schemes is naturally explained as a result of the variety of excited intrinsic neutrino field structures with the same energy. We report term energies and quantum defects of highly excited even-parity states of mercury in the 83 876–84 140 cm-1 energy range, employing a two-step laser excitation scheme via the S0↦6s6p3P1 inter-combination transition. Two dye lasers, pumped by a common Nd:YAG laser, were frequency doubled by BBO crystals and used to record the spectra in conjunction with a thermionic diode ion detector. Our new observations include the much extended D2 (22 ≤n ≤52) series and a few members of the S1 (24 ≤n ≤30) Rydberg series. Members of the D2 Rydberg series with such a high n value are reported for the first time. The relative intensities of the D2 and S1 transitions (m = 4, 5 and 6) of group II-B elements excited from the P1 inter-combination states are also discussed.  相似文献

A determination of the single W spin density matrix (SDM) elements in the reaction e+e-→W+W-→lνqq̄(l=e/μ) is reported at centre-of-mass energies between 189 and 209 GeV. The data sample used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 520 pb-1 taken by DELPHI between 1998 and 2000. The single W SDM elements, ρττ’ (τ,τ’=± 1 or 0), are determined as a function of the W- production angle with respect to the e- beam direction and are obtained from measurements of the W decay products by the application of suitable projection operators, Λττ’, which assume the V-A coupling of the W-boson to fermions. The measured SDM elements are used to obtain the fraction of longitudinally polarised Ws, with the result: at a mean energy of 198 GeV. The SDM elements are also used to determine the triple gauge couplings Δg1 Z,Δκγγ and g4 Z, and . For the CP-violating couplings the results of single parameter fits are: The errors are a combination of statistical and systematic errors. We perform a systematic study of the possible molecular states composed of a pair of heavy mesons such as , , in the framework of the meson exchange model. The exchanged mesons include the pseudoscalar, scalar and vector mesons. Through our investigation, we find the following results. (1) The structure X(3764) is not a molecular state. (2) There exists strong attraction in the range r<1 fm for the system with J=0,1. If future experiments confirm Z +(4051) as a loosely bound molecular state, its quantum number is probably J P =0+. Its partner state Φ **0 may be searched for in the π 0 χ c1 channel. (3) Vector meson exchange provides strong attraction in the channel together with pion exchange. A bound state solution may exist with a reasonable cutoff parameter Λ∼1.4 GeV. X(3872) may be accommodated as a molecular state dynamically although drawing a very definite conclusion needs further investigation. (4) The molecular state may exist.  相似文献

The littlest Higgs (LH) model predicts the existence of the doubly charged scalars , which generally have large flavor changing couplings to leptons. We calculate the contributions of Φ±± to the lepton flavor violating (LFV) processes li→ljγ and li→ljlklk, and we compare our numerical results with the current experimental upper limits on these processes. We find that some of these processes can give severe constraints on the coupling constant Yij and the mass parameter MΦ. Taking into account the constraints on these free parameters, we further discuss the possible lepton flavor violating signals of at high energy linear e+e- collider (ILC) experiments. Our numerical results show that the possible signals of might be detected via the subprocesses e±e±→l±l± in future ILC experiments.  相似文献

The differential cross-sections σ0 = σT + εσL , σLT , and σTT of electroproduction from the proton were measured from threshold up to an additional center-of-mass energy of 40MeV, at a value of the photon four-momentum transfer of Q 2 = 0.05 GeV2/c2 and a center-of-mass angle of θ = 90° . By an additional out-of-plane measurement with polarized electrons σLT' was determined. This showed for the first time the presence of an imaginary part of the s -wave above the threshold, which is usually interpreted as a unitary cusp. The predictions of the Heavy Baryon Chiral Perturbation Theory (HBChPT) are in disagreement with these data. On the other hand, the data are somewhat better predicted by the MAID phenomenological model and are in good agreement with the dynamical model DMT.  相似文献

Measured ratios of decay rates for , and are presented. These measurements are based on K± decays collected in a dedicated run in 2003 by the NA48/2 experiment at CERN. The results obtained are and . Using the PDG average for the K±→π±π0 normalisation mode, both values are found to be larger than the current values given by the particle data book and lead to a larger magnitude of the |Vus| CKM element than previously accepted. When combined with the latest particle data book value of |Vud|, the result is in agreement with unitarity of the CKM matrix. We report the transverse momentum (p T ) distributions for identified charged pions, protons and anti-protons using events triggered by high deposit energy in the Barrel Electro-Magnetic Calorimeter (BEMC) from p+p collisions at  GeV. The spectra are measured around mid-rapidity (|y|<0.5) over the range of 3<p T <15 GeV/c with particle identification (PID) by the relativistic ionization energy loss (rdE/dx) in the Time Projection Chamber (TPC) of the Solenoidal Tracker at RHIC (STAR). The charged pion, proton and anti-proton spectra at high p T are compared with published results from minimum bias triggered events and the Next-Leading-Order perturbative quantum chromodynamic (NLO pQCD) calculations (DSS, KKP and AKK 2008). In addition, we present the particle ratios of π /π +, , p/π + and in p+p collisions.  相似文献

To determine nonspherical angular-momentum amplitudes in hadrons at long ranges (low Q2), data were taken for the pe, e'p0 reaction in the Δ region at Q 2 = 0.060 (GeV/c)2 utilizing the magnetic spectrometers of the A1 Collaboration at MAMI. The results for the dominant transition magnetic dipole amplitude and the quadrupole to dipole ratios at W = 1232 MeV are , Re( )%, and Re( )%. These disagree with predictions of constituent quark models but are in reasonable agreement with lattice calculations with nonlinear (chiral) pion mass extrapolations, with chiral effective field theory, and with dynamical models with pion cloud effects. These results confirm the dominance, and general Q2 variation, of the pionic contribution at large distances.  相似文献

The electromagnetic radius of a charged pion and the transition radius of a neutral pion are calculated in the framework of the nonlocal chiral quark model. It is shown in this model that the vector meson contributions to the pion radii are noticeably suppressed in comparison with a similar contribution in the local Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. The form factor for the process is calculated for -1 GeV2< q 2 < 1.6 GeV2. We report measurements of charmonia produced in two-photon collisions and decaying to four-meson final states, where the meson is either a charged pion or a charged kaon. The analysis is based on a 395 fb-1 data sample accumulated with the Belle detector at the KEKB electron–positron collider. We observe signals for the three C-even charmonia ηc(1S), χc0(1P) and χc2(1P) in the π+π-π+π-, K+K-π+π- and K+K-K+K- decay modes. No clear signals for ηc(2S) production are found in these decay modes. We have also studied resonant structures in charmonium decays to two-body intermediate meson resonances. We study the process e+e-→νν̄γ to search for its sensitivity to the extra gauge bosons Z2, Z3 and W2 ±, which are suggested by the little Higgs models. We find that the ILC with and CLIC with cover different regions of the LHM parameters. We show that this channel can provide a determination of the parameters, complementary to measurements of the extra gauge bosons obtainable at the upcoming LHC experiments. It is proposed that light neutrinos form a triplet in a global SU(3) symmetry in the mass eigenstate basis. Assuming that the SU(3) symmetry is broken in the direction , and after going to the flavor basis, we predict the atmospheric mixing angles sin2θ23=0.5 and sinθ13=0, if νμ–ντ symmetry is assumed. In the flavor basis, the diagonal part of the matrix coefficient of b (the dominant part) is found to transform like . Imposing the same condition on the matrix coefficient of a fixes the solar mixing angle, . The implications for neutrinoless double beta decay are discussed.  相似文献

Causal viscous hydrodynamic fits to experimental data for pion and kaon transverse momentum spectra from central Au + Au collisions at are presented. Starting the hydrodynamic evolution at 1 fm/c and using small values for the relaxation time, reasonable fits up to moderate ratios, η/s≃0.4, can be obtained. It is found that a percentage of roughly 50 η/s to 75 η/s of the final meson multiplicity is due to viscous entropy production. Finally, it is shown that with increasing viscosity, the ratio of HBT radii Rout/Rside approaches and eventually matches the experimental data.  相似文献

Measurements of the π0 and direct photon nuclear modification factors in p+p and A+A collisions in the PHENIX experiment at RHIC will be reviewed and recent results at  GeV will be presented. Using for the first time the p+p reference measured in the same experiment instead of averaging world data the π0 suppression turns out to be almost as large at  GeV as at  GeV, implying gluon densities dNg/dy>800. Possible origins of photon suppression at high pT in  GeV are discussed in light of the new results on photon RAA at  GeV.  相似文献

We report STAR measurements of mid-rapidity yields for the Λ , , K S 0 , Ξ , , Ω , particles in Cu + Cu and Au + Au  GeV collisions. We show that at a given number of participating nucleons, bulk strangeness production is higher in Cu + Cu collisions compared to Au + Au collisions at the same center of mass energy, counter to predictions from the Canonical formalism. We compare both the Cu + Cu and Au + Au yields to AMPT and EPOS predictions, and find they reproduce key qualitative aspects of the data. Finally, we investigate other scaling parameters and find bulk strangeness production for both the measured data and theoretical predictions, scales better with the number participants that undergo more than one collision.  相似文献
