In this paper we propose a new test for the multivariate two-sample problem. The test statistic is the difference of the sum of all the Euclidean interpoint distances between the random variables from the two different samples and one-half of the two corresponding sums of distances of the variables within the same sample. The asymptotic null distribution of the test statistic is derived using the projection method and shown to be the limit of the bootstrap distribution. A simulation study includes the comparison of univariate and multivariate normal distributions for location and dispersion alternatives. For normal location alternatives the new test is shown to have power similar to that of the t- and T2-Test.  相似文献

We consider testing for discontinuities in a trend function when the residual process exhibits long memory. Using a wavelet decomposition of the estimated trend function into a low-resolution and a high-resolution component, a test statistic is proposed based on blockwise resampling of estimated residual variances. Asymptotic validity of the test is derived. A simulation study illustrates finite sample properties.  相似文献

We propose a new test for independence of error and covariate in a nonparametric regression model. The test statistic is based on a kernel estimator for the L2-distance between the conditional distribution and the unconditional distribution of the covariates. In contrast to tests so far available in literature, the test can be applied in the important case of multivariate covariates. It can also be adjusted for models with heteroscedastic variance. Asymptotic normality of the test statistic is shown. Simulation results and a real data example are presented.  相似文献

Diagnostic checking for multivariate parametric models is investigated in this article. A nonparametric Monte Carlo Test (NMCT) procedure is proposed. This Monte Carlo approximation is easy to implement and can automatically make any test procedure scale-invariant even when the test statistic is not scale-invariant. With it we do not need plug-in estimation of the asymptotic covariance matrix that is used to normalize test statistic and then the power performance can be enhanced. The consistency of NMCT approximation is proved. For comparison, we also extend the score type test to one-dimensional cases. NMCT can also be applied to diverse problems such as a classical problem for which we test whether or not certain covariables in linear model has significant impact for response. Although the Wilks lambda, a likelihood ratio test, is a proven powerful test, NMCT outperforms it especially in non-normal cases. Simulations are carried out and an application to a real data set is illustrated.  相似文献

We consider regression models with multiple correlated responses for each design point. Under the null hypothesis, a linear regression is assumed. For the least-squares residuals of this linear regression, we establish the limit of the partial sums. This limit is a projection on a certain subspace of the reproducing Kernel Hilbert space of a multivariate Brownian motion. Based on this limit, we propose a significance test of Kolmogorov-Smirnov type to test the null hypothesis and show that this result can be used to study a change-point problem in the case of linear profile data (panel data). We compare our proposed method, which does not rely on any distributional assumptions, with the likelihood ratio test in a simulation study.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the problem of testing for parameter changes in time series models based on a moving estimates (ME) test. It is widely accepted that detecting some changes, for instance, those caused by temporary parameter shifts by the existing cusum test is difficult. A MV test with a fixed bandwidth has been developed to circumvent the defect, but the test still does not perform well under certain conditions. Motivated by this, we propose a MV test with a time varying bandwidth to outperform the original test. In order to illustrate our findings, we have provided simulation results.  相似文献

Consistent procedures are constructed for testing independence between the regressor and the error in non-parametric regression models. The tests are based on the Fourier formulation of independence, and utilize the joint and the marginal empirical characteristic functions of the regressor and of estimated residuals. The asymptotic null distribution as well as the behavior of the test statistic under alternatives is investigated. A simulation study compares bootstrap versions of the proposed tests to corresponding procedures utilizing the empirical distribution function.  相似文献

Goodness-of-fit tests for copulas   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
This paper defines two distribution free goodness-of-fit test statistics for copulas. It states their asymptotic distributions under some composite parametric assumptions in an independent identically distributed framework. A short simulation study is provided to assess their power performances.  相似文献

Comparison of nonparametric regression models has been extensively discussed in the literature for the one-dimensional covariate case. The comparison problem largely remains open for completely nonparametric models with multi-dimensional covariates. We address this issue under the assumption that models are single-index models (SIMs). We propose a test for checking the equality of the mean functions of two (or more) SIM’s. The asymptotic normality of the test statistic is established and an empirical study is conducted to evaluate the finite-sample performance of the proposed procedure.  相似文献

We study non-parametric tests for checking parametric hypotheses about a multivariate density f of independent identically distributed random vectors Z1,Z2,… which are observed under additional noise with density ψ. The tests we propose are an extension of the test due to Bickel and Rosenblatt [On some global measures of the deviations of density function estimates, Ann. Statist. 1 (1973) 1071-1095] and are based on a comparison of a nonparametric deconvolution estimator and the smoothed version of a parametric fit of the density f of the variables of interest Zi. In an example the loss of efficiency is highlighted when the test is based on the convolved (but observable) density g=f*ψ instead on the initial density of interest f.  相似文献

Generalised varying-coefficient models (GVC) are very important models. There are a considerable number of literature addressing these models. However, most of the existing literature are devoted to the estimation procedure. In this paper, we systematically investigate the statistical inference for GVC, which includes confidence band as well as hypothesis test. We establish the asymptotic distribution of the maximum discrepancy between the estimated functional coefficient and the true functional coefficient. We compare different approaches for the construction of confidence band and hypothesis test. Finally, the proposed statistical inference methods are used to analyse the data from China about contraceptive use there, which leads to some interesting findings.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a semiparametric modeling with multi-indices when neither the response nor the predictors can be directly observed and there are distortions from some multiplicative factors. In contrast to the existing methods in which the response distortion deteriorates estimation efficacy even for a simple linear model, the dimension reduction technique presented in this paper interestingly does not have to account for distortion of the response variable. The observed response can be used directly whether distortion is present or not. The resulting dimension reduction estimators are shown to be consistent and asymptotically normal. The results can be employed to test whether the central dimension reduction subspace has been estimated appropriately and whether the components in the basis directions in the space are significant. Thus, the method provides an alternative for determining the structural dimension of the subspace and for variable selection. A simulation study is carried out to assess the performance of the proposed method. The analysis of a real dataset demonstrates the potential usefulness of distortion removal.  相似文献

We study a test statistic based on the integrated squared difference between a kernel estimator of the copula density and a kernel smoothed estimator of the parametric copula density. We show for fixed smoothing parameters that the test is consistent and that the asymptotic properties are driven by a U-statistic of order 4 with degeneracy of order 1. For practical implementation we suggest to compute the critical values through a semiparametric bootstrap. Monte Carlo results show that the bootstrap procedure performs well in small samples. In particular, size and power are less sensitive to smoothing parameter choice than they are under the asymptotic approximation obtained for a vanishing bandwidth.  相似文献

Summary Let denote an arbitrary non-parametric unbiased test for a Gaussian shift given by an infinite dimensional parameter space. Then it is shown that the curvature of its power function has a principal component decomposition based on a Hilbert-Schmidt operator. Thus every test has reasonable curvature only for a finite number of orthogonal directions of alternatives. As application the two-sided Kolmogorov-Smirnov goodnessof-fit test is treated. We obtain lower bounds for their local asymptotic relative efficiency. They converge to one as 0 for the directionh 0(u)=sign(2u–1) of the gradient of the median test. These results are analogous to earlier results of Hájek and idák for one-sided Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests.  相似文献

Deheuvels proposed a rank test of independence based on a Cramér-von Mises functional of the empirical copula process. Using a general result on the asymptotic distribution of this process under sequences of contiguous alternatives, the local power curve of Deheuvels’ test is computed in the bivariate case and compared to that of competing procedures based on linear rank statistics. The Gil-Pelaez inversion formula is used to make additional comparisons in terms of a natural extension of Pitman's measure of asymptotic relative efficiency.  相似文献

We propose a new class of rotation invariant and consistent goodness-of-fit tests for multivariate distributions based on Euclidean distance between sample elements. The proposed test applies to any multivariate distribution with finite second moments. In this article we apply the new method for testing multivariate normality when parameters are estimated. The resulting test is affine invariant and consistent against all fixed alternatives. A comparative Monte Carlo study suggests that our test is a powerful competitor to existing tests, and is very sensitive against heavy tailed alternatives.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the estimation of the error distribution in a heteroscedastic nonparametric regression model with multivariate covariates. As estimator we consider the empirical distribution function of residuals, which are obtained from multivariate local polynomial fits of the regression and variance functions, respectively. Weak convergence of the empirical residual process to a Gaussian process is proved. We also consider various applications for testing model assumptions in nonparametric multiple regression. The model tests obtained are able to detect local alternatives that converge to zero at an n−1/2-rate, independent of the covariate dimension. We consider in detail a test for additivity of the regression function.  相似文献

In this paper multivariate extensions of the Friedman and Page tests for the comparison of several treatments are introduced. Related unadjusted and adjusted treatment effect estimates for the multivariate response variable are also found and their properties discussed. The test statistics and estimates are analogous to the traditional univariate methods. In test constructions, the univariate ranks are replaced by multivariate spatial ranks (J. Nonparam. Statist. 5 (1995) 201). Asymptotic theory is developed to provide approximations for the limiting distributions of the test statistics and estimates. Limiting efficiencies of the tests and treatment effect estimates are found in the multivariate normal and t distribution cases. The tests are rotation invariant only, but affine invariant versions can be easily constructed. The theory is illustrated by an example.  相似文献

We introduce a special Hankel transform for probability distributions on the nonnegative half-line and discuss some of its properties. Due to the uniqueness of the transform we suggest an integral type test statistic based on the empirical Hankel transform to treat simple and composite hypotheses goodness-of-fit problems. The special case of exponential distributions is studied in detail.  相似文献

Limit distribution is studied for the integrated squared error of the projection regression estimator (2) constructed on the basis of independent observations (1). By means of the obtained limit theorems, a test is given for verifying the hypothesis on the regression, and the power of this test is calculated in the case of Pitman alternatives.  相似文献
