Statistical estimation of the model parameters of component lifetime distribution based on system lifetime data with known system structure is discussed here. We propose the use of stochastic expectation-maximization (SEM) algorithm for obtaining the maximum likelihood estimates of model parameters based on complete and censored system lifetimes. Different ways of implementing the SEM algorithm are also studied. We have shown that the proposed methods are feasible and are easy to implement for various families of component lifetime distributions. The proposed methodologies are then illustrated with two popular lifetime models—the Weibull and Birnbaum-Saunders distributions. Monte Carlo simulation is then used to compare the performance of the proposed methods with the corresponding estimation by direct maximization. Finally, two illustrative examples are presented along with some concluding remarks.  相似文献

This article presents optimal Bayesian accelerated life test plans for series systems under Type-I censoring scheme. First, the component lifetimes are assumed to follow independent Weibull distributions. The scale parameters of Weibull lifetime distributions are related to the external stress variable through a general stress translation function. For a fixed number of design points, optimal Bayesian ALT plans are first obtained by solving constrained optimization problems under two different Bayesian design criteria. The global optimality of the resulting fixed-point optimal designs is then verified via the General Equivalence Theorem. This article also provides the optimized compromise ALT plans which are extremely useful in real-life applications. A detailed sensitivity analysis is then performed to find out the effect of various planning inputs on the resulting optimal Bayesian ALT plans. A simulation study is then conducted to visualize the resulting sampling variations from the optimal Bayesian ALT plans. Finally, this article considers a series system with dependent component lifetimes. Optimal ALT plans are obtained assuming a Gamma frailty model.  相似文献

This paper explores inferential procedures for the Wiener constant-stress accelerated degradation model under degradation mechanism invariance. The exact confidence intervals are obtained for the parameters of the proposed accelerated degradation model. The generalized confidence intervals are also proposed for the reliability function and pth quantile of the lifetime at the normal operating stress level. In addition, the prediction intervals are developed for the degradation characteristic, lifetime and remaining useful life of the product at the normal operating stress level. The performance of the proposed generalized confidence intervals and the prediction intervals is assessed by the Monte Carlo simulation. Furthermore, a new optimum criterion is proposed based on minimizing the mean of the upper prediction limit for the degradation characteristic at the design stress level. The exact optimum plan is also derived for the Wiener accelerated degradation model according to the proposed optimal criterion. The proposed interval procedures and optimum plan are the free of the equal testing interval assumption. Finally, two examples are provided to illustrate the proposed interval procedures and exact optimum plan. Specifically, based on the degradation data of LEDs, some interval estimates of quantities related to reliability indicators are obtained. For the degradation data of carbon-film resistors, the optimal allocation of test units is derived in terms of the proposed optimal criterion.  相似文献

Reliability of products is often determined by special technical or physical drift parameters. Suitable stochastic processes are applied to model such drift processes. An failure can be observed when the drift process leaves a given region at the first time. Then the lifetime is the random time to first exit. Applying the first exit theory it is possible to find the type of lifetime distribution. This study concerns the performance management of manufacturing processes. Such processes are decomposed into two types: the operating processes and the control ones. While an operating process has to realise the deliverable products, a control one is designed to plan, control and supervise the execution of the activity of the operating processes. In this sense, one approach of control is discussed. The proposed model is based on the exchange relation concept between a customer and a supplier. The different control parameters are defined from this point of view, such as the activities assigned objectives and the performance indicators associated with them, the control activities and their functions, the control means... this for both the technical and economical levels of control. These ideas are applied to some problems encountered in manufacturing processes. In particular, aluminium metallurgy processes are considered. The performance of these processes are driven by many parameters such as the quality of the raw materials, the conformity of the tools used, the elements to assemble, the know-how of the operators.  相似文献

The aim of the present paper is to study the stability propertiesof the numerical methods for pure delay differential equations.The methods we consider are based on a quadrature rule and aninterpolant (NCE) to get an approximation of the retarded part(continuous quadrature rule). As a test equation we consider and we give sufficient conditions for the boundedness of thesolutions. The same behaviour is preserved by the continuousquadrature rule under some restriction on the parameters. Asa conclusion we give some examples. In this article, we study data analysis methods for accelerated life test (ALT) with blocking. Unlike the previous assumption of normal distribution for random block effects, we advocate the use of Weibull regression model with gamma random effects for making statistical inference of ALT data. To estimate the unknown parameters in the proposed model, maximum likelihood estimation and Bayesian estimation methods are provided. We illustrate the proposed methods using real data examples and simulation examples. Numerical results suggest that distribution of random effects has minimal impact on the estimation of fixed effects in the Weibull regression models. Furthermore, to demonstrate the advantage of our proposed model, we also provide methods to compare ALT plans and thus identify the optimal ALT plans.  相似文献

Desulfurization systems in coal-fired power stations often suffer the problem of high operating costs caused by a rule-of-thumb control strategy, which implies great potential for optimization of the operation. Due to the complex desulfurization mechanism, frequently fluctuating unit load, and severe disturbance, it is challenging to determine the optimal operating parameters based on the traditional mechanistic models, and the operating parameters are closely related to the operational efficiency of the flue gas desulfurization system. In this paper, an operation strategy optimization method for the desulfurization process is proposed based on a data mining framework, which is able to determine online the optimal operating parameter settings from a large amount of historical data. First, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is used to reduce data redundancy by mapping the data into a new vector space. Based on the new vector space, an enhanced fuzzy C-means clustering (Enhanced-FCM) is developed to cluster the historical data into groups sharing similar characteristics. Taking sulfur dioxide emission concentration as a constraint condition, the system is optimized with economic benefits and desulfurization efficiency as the objective function. When performing optimization, the group that current operating conditions belong to is determined first, then the operating parameters of the best performance are searched within the group and provided as the optimization results. The method is validated and tested based on the data from a wet flue gas desulfurization (WFGD) system of a 1000 MWe supercritical coal-fired power plant in China. The results indicate that the proposed operation strategy can appropriately obtain operating parameter settings at different conditions, and effectively reduce the desulfurization cost under the constraint of meeting emission requirements.  相似文献

Process capability indices (PCIs) are used to measure process potential and performance. Since the lifetime of products generally may possess an exponential, gamma or Weibull distribution, etc., so under a two-parameter exponential distribution, this study constructs a uniformly minimum variance unbiased estimator (UMVUE) of the lifetime performance index based on the right type II censored sample. Then the UMVUE of the lifetime performance index is utilized to develop the new hypothesis testing procedure in the condition of known L. Finally, a practical example is illustrated to employ the testing procedure to determine whether the process is capable.  相似文献

Tensor products of Gauss-Lobatto quadrature points are frequently used as collocation points in spectral element methods. Unfortunately, it is not known if Gauss-Lobatto points exist in non-tensor-product domains like the simplex. In this work, we show that the -dimensional tensor-product of Gauss-Lobatto quadrature points are also Fekete points. This suggests a way to generalize spectral methods based on Gauss-Lobatto points to non-tensor-product domains, since Fekete points are known to exist and have been computed in the triangle and tetrahedron. In one dimension this result was proved by Fejér in 1932, but the extension to higher dimensions in non-trivial.

In this paper, we develop a new mathematical strategy to create flexible lifetime distributions. This strategy is based on a special general-ized mixture derived to the one involved in the so-called weighted exponential distribution. Thus, we introduce a new class of lifetime distributions called "special generalized mixture" class and discussed its qualities. In particular, a short list of new lifetime distributions is presented in details, with a focus on the one based on the Lomax distribution. Different mathematical proper-ties are described, including distributional results, diverse moments measures, incomplete moments, characteristic function and bivariate extensions. Then, the applicability of the new class is investigated through the model parameters based on the Lomax distribution and the analysis of a practical data set.  相似文献

A system is considered, which is subject to external and possibly fatal shocks, with dependence between the fatality of a shock and the system age. Apart from these shocks, the system suffers from competing soft and sudden failures, where soft failures refer to the reaching of a given threshold for the degradation level, and sudden failures to accidental failures, characterized by a failure rate. A non-fatal shock increases both degradation level and failure rate of a random amount, with possible dependence between the two increments. The system reliability is calculated by four different methods. Conditions under which the system lifetime is New Better than Used are proposed. The influence of various parameters of the shocks environment on the system lifetime is studied.  相似文献

The rapid growth of technological products has led to an increasing volume of waste electrical and electronic equipments (WEEE), which could represent a valuable source of critical raw materials. However, current mechanical separation processes for recycling are typically poorly operated, making it impossible to modify the process parameters as a function of the materials under treatment, thus resulting in untapped separation potentials. Corona electrostatic separation (CES) is one of the most popular processes for separating fine metal and nonmetal particles derived from WEEE. In order to optimize the process operating conditions (i.e., variables) for a given multi‐material mixture under treatment, several technological and economical criteria should be jointly considered. This translates into a complex optimization problem that can be hardly solved by a purely experimental approach. As a result, practitioners tend to assign process parameters by few experiments based on a small material sample and to keep these parameters fixed during the process life‐cycle. The use of computer experiments for parameter optimization is a mostly unexplored area in this field. In this work, a computer‐aided approach is proposed to the problem of optimizing the operational parameters in CES processes. Three metamodels, developed starting from a multi‐body simulation model of the process physics, are presented and compared by means of a numerical and simulation study. Our approach proves to be an effective framework to optimize the CES process performance. Furthermore, by comparing the predicted response surfaces of the metamodels, additional insight into the process behavior over the operating region is obtained. Process capability indices had been widely used to evaluate the process performance to the continuous improvement of quality and productivity. When the lifetime of products possesses a one-parameter Pareto distribution, the larger-the-better lifetime performance index is considered. The maximum likelihood estimator is used to estimate the lifetime performance index based on the progressive type I interval censored sample. The asymptotic distribution of this estimator is also investigated. We use this estimator to develop the new hypothesis testing algorithmic procedure in the condition of known lower specification limit. Finally, two practical examples are given to illustrate the use of this testing algorithmic procedure to determine whether the process is capable.  相似文献

One of the most critical issues in wireless sensor networks is represented by the limited availability of energy on network nodes; thus, making good use of energy is necessary to increase network lifetime. In this paper, we define network lifetime as the time spanning from the instant when the network starts functioning properly, i.e., satisfying the target level of coverage of the area of interest, until the same level of coverage cannot be guaranteed any more due to lack of energy in sensors. To maximize system lifetime, we propose to exploit sensor spatial redundancy by defining subsets of sensors active in different time periods, to allow sensors to save energy when inactive. Two approaches are presented to maximize network lifetime: the first one, based on column generation, must run in a centralized way, whereas the second one is based on a heuristic algorithm aiming at a distributed implementation. To assess their performance and provide guidance to network design, the two approaches are compared by varying several network parameters. The column generation based approach typically yields better solutions, but it may be difficult to implement in practice. Nevertheless it provides both a good benchmark against which heuristics may be compared and a modeling framework which can be extended to deal with additional features, such as reliability.  相似文献
