Excitation of high frequency oscillations of electron plasma by a diverging beam
The problem of the stability of high frequency oscillations of electron plasma is investigated in the hydrodynamical approximation. The oscillations are supposed to be excited by a beam of electrons outgoing from a spherical or cylindrical surface. The regions of instability in the spectrum of frequencies are found and it is shown that the amplitude of the oscillations increases as a power of the distance (in the case of spherical symmetry) or asr –3/4 expr -1/2 (cylindrical symmetry).

The possible existence of a vector leptonic resonance (0) in the + system is considered. We discuss the effect such a resonance would have on the g factor of the muon and also on the ratio of the partial widths of the muonic and electronic decay modes (RV = (V +)/G (V e+ e)) of the neutral vector mesons 0,,,, and. From the experimental values of R and R, the following values are obtained for the mass, coupling constant, and partial decay widths of the resonance: M = 872 ± 60 MeV, f2/4 = 4 ± 2) ·10–4, ( 0 + ) = 0.12±0.06 MeV, and (0 0 +) = 0.13±0.06 MeV.Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 5, pp. 39–43, May, 1977.  相似文献

A feature of a conducting phase at low density is that there is a singularity in the fugacity expansion of the pressure, whereas the same expansion in the insulating phase gives an analytic series. The Yang-Lee characterization of a phase transition thus implies that in the conducting phase the zeros of the grand partition function must pinch the real axis in the complex scaled fugacity () plane at =0, whereas in the insulating phase a neighborhood of =0 must be zero free. Exact and numerical calculations are presented which suggest that for two-component log-potential lattice gases in one dimension with dimensionless coupling, the zeros pinch the point =0 for<2, while for2 a neighborhood of =0 is zero free. The conductor-insulator transition therefore takes place at=2 independent of the density and other parameters in the model.  相似文献

An experimental investigation of one-dimensional, diffusion-limited A+BC chemical reactions is reported. The persistence of reactant segregation and the formation of a depletion zone is observed and expressed in terms of the universal time exponents: (motion of the boundary zone), (width of instantaneous product formation zone), (rate of instantaneous local formation of product), (rate of instantaneous global formation of product), etc. There is good agreement with the recently predicted and/or simulated values:=1/2,=1/6,=2/3,=1/2, in contrast to classical predictions (=0,=1/2,=0,=–1/2). Furthermore, classically the segregation would not be preserved and there would be no formation of a depletion zone and no motion (just dissipation) of the reaction zone. We also discuss the relations to electrode oxidation-reduction reactions, i.e., A+CC where C is a catalyst, electrode, or trap.  相似文献

We simulate the classical diffusion of a particle of massM in an infinite one-dimensional system of hard point particles of massm in equilibrium. Each computer run corresponds to about 108 collisions of the diffusive particle. We find that (t) 1/t fort large enough, and a crossover from an M m regime where=2 to=3 forM=m. The diffusion constant has a sharp maximum atM=m. We study moments x(t)2 and x(t)4, and examine the behavior ofq 2 (t)=x(t)4/3x(t)22. We find thatq(t)1 (consistent with a normal distribution) in theM limit (for all timest) and in the t limit for allM. The field-driven Kawasaki model with a fractionp admixture of Glauber dynamics is studied by computer simulation:p=0 corresponds to the order-parameter-onserving driven diffusive system, whilep=1 is the equilibrium Ising model. Forp=0.1 our best estimates of critical exponents based on a system of size 4096×128 are0.22, RS0.45, andv v 1. These exponents differ from both the values predicted by a field-theoretic method forp=0 and those of the equilibrium Ising model. Anisotropic finite-size scaling analyses are carried out, both for subsystems of the large system and for fully periodic systems. The results of the latter, however, are inconsistent, probably due to the complexity of the size effects. This leaves open the possibility that we are in a crossover regime fromp=0 top0 and that our critical exponents are effective ones. We establish the following new correlation inequalities for the truncated twopoint function of an Ising ferromagnet in a positive external field: j ; l T j ; k T k ; l T , and j ; l T k K j ; k T k l , whereK is any set of sites which separatesj froml. The inequalities are also valid for the pure phases with zero magnetic field at all temperatures. The rotational distribution of OH(X 2,v=0) radicals was investigated by resonant laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) after photolysis of H2O2 at 193 nm. A microcomputer equipped LIF arrangement allowed special shot-by-shot normalization of the fluorescence signal for noise reduction. Using a least-squares procedure we were able to account for all measured line intensities including overlapping lines (blends) and obtain a complete rotational state distribution of the OH(X 2,v=0) state. The rotational excitation shows a Gaussian-like distribution with a maximum atK=12 and with 16% of the total available energy (17,400 cm–1) appearing in rotation. Only 1% of the available energy is converted into vibration, leaving over 83% for translational excitation. The measured rotational distribution appears to fit a semiclassical theory.  相似文献

The electric quadrupole interaction at the Hf site in the cubic HfV2 compound, which shows lattice instability when cooled below 120 K, has been studied using the 482 keV (5/2+) state in181Ta. The time differential perturbed angular correlation (TDPAC) studies involving (133+136)-482 keV - cascade at room temperature show that only a fraction of181Ta nuclei see a cubic symmetry while the remaining experience a weak, randomly oriented, electric quadrupole interaction described by a Gaussian frequency distribution with Q=6.1±1.0 Mrad/sec and the relative width =0.5. There is a dramatic change in TDPAC pattern indicating a phase transition when the compound is cooled down to 77 K. At this temperature the quadrupole interaction frequency is found to be Q=40.6±3.0 Mrad/sec with =0.35. The experimentally observed EFG both at the Hf and the V sites are compared to the theoretical estimates based on point charge model.  相似文献

We consider a ferromagnetic Ising spin system isomorphic to a lattice gas with attractive interactions. Using the Fortuin, Kasteleyn and Ginibre (FKG) inequalities we derive bounds on the decay of correlations between two widely separated sets of particles in terms of the decay of the pair correlation. This leads to bounds on the derivatives of various orders of the free energy with respect to the magnetic fieldh, and reciprocal temperature . In particular, if the pair correlation has an upper bound (uniform in the size of the system) which decays exponentially with distance in some neighborhood of (,h) then the thermodynamic free energy density (,h) andall the correlation functions are infinitely differentiable at (,h). We then show that when only pair interactions are present it is sufficient to obtain such a bound only ath=0 (and only in the infinite volume limit) for systems with suitable boundary conditions. This is the case in the two dimensional square lattice with nearest neighbor interactions for 0<0, where 0 –1 is the Onsager temperature at which (,h=0) has a singularity. For >0, (,h)/h is discontinuous ath=0, i.e. 0=c, where c –1 is the temperature below which there is spontaneous magnetization.Research supported by AFOSR Contract # F 44620-71-C-0013.  相似文献

We give a model of the basic Jauch-Piron (JP) approach to quantum physics, i.e., of preparation-question structure (with four basic axioms and without axioms C, P, A), in terms of Ludwig's selection structure; in the latter structure the primitive notion of individual sample of a physical entity is formally described (without making reference to any probability concept). Once we interpret Piron's concept of question in Ludwig's context of a selection structure, we find that there is no difficulty in formalizing notions such as performable together questions; moreover, results such as = or ()= can be formally proved. We develop the theory along the lines of the JP approach; the set of JP propositions is derived and it turns out to be a complete lattice, as happens in Piron's theory, but with a different physical interpretation of the lattice operations. Finally, we study some connections between the standard Ludwig foundation and our approach.  相似文献

We extend the bichromatic majority model by including (one-dimensional isotropic) correlations and numerically discuss, through Monte Carlo simulations, the simple, 1/3, and 2/3 majority rules. We calculate, as functions of the concentration and correlation degree, the mean finite cluster size, and the order parameterm as well as their respective critical exponents and. We find1 regardless of the correlation degree or the type of majority. Also, a supplementary divergence of is observed at the>0 borderline.  相似文献

The2H(d, )4He differential cross section was measured at deuteron laboratory energies of 20, 24, and 28 MeV between cm=45° and cm=135°. A general formulation is given of Simon's Ising model inequality: whereB is any set of spins separating from . We show that b can be replaced by b A whereA is the spin system insideB containing . An advantage of this is that a finite algorithm can be given to compute the transition temperature to any desired accuracy. The analogous inequality for plane rotors is shown to hold if a certain conjecture can be proved. The paper gives the experimental results of the team-work study of coloured pure and Ca doped NaCl and KC1 crystals. The mechanism of the formation ofR centres by coagulation ofF centres and of the formation ofZ centres fromF centres, cation vacancies and Ca ions is discussed. An alternative model forZ 3 centres is proposed. The possible connections between physical and chemical behaviour are indicated.
