Design issues in various types of manufacturing systems such as flow lines, automatic transfer lines, job shops, flexible machining systems, flexible assembly systems and multiple cell systems are addressed in this paper. Approaches to resolving these design issues of these systems using queueing models are reviewed. Summary We present a (semilocal) Kantorovich-type convergence analysis for the Gauss-Newton-Method which reduces to the wellknown Newton-Kantorovich-Theorem for the Newton-Method in a natural way. The extensions, new developments and new interpretations for DEA covered in this paper include: (1) new measures of efficiency, (2) new models and (3) new ways of implementing established models with new results and interpretations presented that include treatments of congestion, returns-to-scale and mix and technical inefficiencies and measures of efficiency that can be used to reflect all pertinent properties. Previously used models, such as those used to identify allocative inefficiencies, are extended by means of assurance region approaches which are less demanding in their information requirements and underlying assumptions. New opportunities for research are identified in each section of this chapter. Sources of further developments and possible sources for further help are also suggested with references supplied to other papers that appear in this volume and which are summarily described in this introductory chapter.  相似文献

Let be a group of *-automorphisms on the algebra of bounded linear operators on a complex Hilbert space H. Then the strongly closed convex hull of the orbit of any compact operator under consists of compact operators. The same is true if one replaces compact by nuclear, Hilbert-Schmidt or positive Fredholm. We further discuss these results in the framework of the noncommutative mean ergodic theorem of KOVACS and SZ#x00FC;CS and formulate an analogous theorem for the algebra of compact operators on a complex Hilbert space.

Zusammenfassung Für Polynome und Exponentialsummen mit festen Frequenzen werden die Normäquivalenzkonstanten zwischen Parameterraum und Funktionenraum untersucht. Dies führt im Exponentialsummenfall auf Tschebyscheff-Exponentialsummen als Verallgemeinerung der Tschebyscheff-Polynome, wenn man nach numerisch praktikablen Strategien zur Fehlerabschätzung im Parameterraum sucht; für theoretische Zwecke wird eine Ungleichung von Markoff-Typ für Exponentialsummen hergeleitet. Im Falle der Polynome ergeben sich asymptotisch optimale Konstanten als Verschärfungen von Resultaten von Gautschi. Ferner wird eine elementare Herleitung der Normäquivalenzkonstanten für den Fall der Monombasis angegeben.
Error estimation in coefficients of exponential sums and polynomials
Summary Equivalence constants for the norms on parameter and function space are considered for both polynomials and exponential sums. In the latter case Chebyshev exponential sums are introduced as generalizations of the Chebyshev polynomials, providing a practical method for error estimation in parameter space. For theoretical purposes a Markoff-type inequality is proved. In the case of polynomials asymptotically optimal constants are derived, thus improving on earlier results of Gautschi. Furthermore, a simple construction of the equivalence constants for the monomial basis is included.

An approximately balanced realization of linear finite-dimensional sampled-data systems is proposed. The theoretical support of the approximately balancing algorithm is represented by a result on the asymptotic expansions with respect to the sampling step of the sampled controllability and observability graminas. Reduced order models obtained as singular perturbational approximations of approximately balanced realizations of sampled-data systems are shown to be acceptable solutions to the sampled-data system model reduction problem in the sense that, enjoying some asymptotic properties, they come close to the exact solutions as the sampling step decreases. Brugesser and Mani proved that the boundary-complex of a convex polytope can be shelled. This result lead to McMullen's proof of the Upper-bound-conjecture. We show that the shellability of complexes has a close connection to the theory of stellar operations. Several results on special shelling procedures and on non-shellable complexes are obtained.  相似文献

This paper provides an algorithm for the conversion of the index of an elliptic first-order differential operator A on the torus Y×S1 into the index of a canonically associated elliptic pseudo-differential operator Q and Y . It is supposed that Y is a closed smooth manifold and that A splits into /t + Bt , where {Bt} is a family of self-adjoint elliptic operators on Y satisfying the periodicity condition B1 = g B0 g–1 for some unitary automorphism g . Then it will be shown that the operator Q ( the desuspension of A ) can be written down explicity in the form Q = P+ –gP where P+ are projections onto the space of Cauchy data. In the second part , applications are given for the calculation of the index of the general linear conjugation problem (cutting and pasting of elliptic operators) , and the intimate interrelations between the related procedures of algebraic topology, spectral theory and functional analysis are explained . The main aim of the symbolic approach in data analysis is to extend problems, methods and algorithms used on classical data to more complex data called symbolic objects which are well adapted to representing knowledge and which are generic unlike usual observations which characterize individual things. We introduce several kinds of symbolic objects: Boolean, possibilist, probabilist and belief. We briefly present some of their qualities and properties; three theorems show how Probability, Possibility and Evidence theories may be extended on these objects. Finally, four kinds of data analysis problems including the symbolic extension are illustrated by several algorithms which induce knowledge from classical data or from a set of symbolic objects.  相似文献

A general module theoretic framework is used to solve several classical interpolation problems and generalizations thereof in a unified way. These problems are divided into two main families. The first family contains the classical linearized Padé, Padé-Hermite and M-Padé problems and the generalization to the vector M-Padé problem. The second family consists of the Padé problem, the scalar, vector and matrix rational interpolation problems. The solution method is straightforward, recursive and efficient. It can follow any path in the solution table even if this solution table is nonnormal (nonperfect). Reordering of the interpolation data is not required.  相似文献

In [1] Girard gives a procedure, by which all derivations in the calculus of natural deductions of Prawitz [4] are transformed into normal derivations. Exploiting his idea we give a syntactical proof of the admissibility of the cut rule in Schütte's formal system of intuitionistic type theory. We obtain a normal form theorem but not a normalization theorem. Our Berechnungsprädikate are different from the candidats de reductibilite of Girard. In the case of second order logic Berechnungsprädikate für Terme t(O) are not defined for derivations ending with rO e t(O) which are normalizable, but for finite formula sets with the property, that rO e t(O) is derivable without cut.  相似文献

Summary Previsible (or predictable) stochastic processes are defined for any filtration over a probability space (Dellacherie and Meyer (1978), IV. 61). This technical definition gives previsible processes certain predictability properties such as not being able to oscillate in unison with martingale differentials. Thus previsibility has become one essential ingredient in The General Theory of Stochastic Processes.We show that previsible sets for Keisler's (1984) special hyperfinite filtration are given both combinatorially and by a left filtration. Keisler's scheme has many other interesting features.Our main technical tool is an extension of Henson's (1979) analysis of analytic sets and the standard part map.  相似文献

The stress-gradient effects on the fracture strength of materials have been recognized for a long time. In metals, Neuber's elementary block theory has been used to explain why the actual strength reduction due to notches is less than that indicated by the stress-concentration factor. In fiber-reinforced composites, the same concept was renamed as the hole-size effect, giving rise to a point-stress characteristic dimension and an average-stress characteristic dimension.  相似文献

For weakly stationary random fields, conditions on coefficients of linear dependence are given which are, respectively, sufficient for the existence of a continuous spectral density, and necessary and sufficient for the existence of a continuous positive spectral density. For strictly stationary random fields, central limit theorems are proved under the corresponding unrestricted -mixing condition and just finite or barely infinite second moments. Summary Stability regions of explicit linear time discretization methods for solving initial value problems are treated. If an integration method needsm function evaluations per time step, then we scale the stability region by dividing bym. We show that the scaled stability region of a method, satisfying some reasonable conditions, cannot be properly contained in the scaled stability region of another method. Bounds for the size of the stability regions for three different purposes are then given: for general nonlinear ordinary differential systems, for systems obtained from parabolic problems and for systems obtained from hyperbolic problems. We prove the uniqueness of a Laplacian on the compact diamond fractal. More precisely, there exists a unique (up to positive multiples) self-similar, irreducible, local, regular and symmetric Dirichlet form with the normalized Hausdorff measure as reference measure. The main tool is the eigenvalue test which allows to use numerical results to set up theorems. The approach is of interest in its own because it also applies to other finitely ramified, graph-directed fractals.  相似文献

Summary Ordinary two dimensional linear shell theory may be formulated by using six differential equations for stress resultants and couples and for middle surface force and moment load intensities, in conjunction with the principle of virtual work, for the derivation of strain displacement relations. The present paper deals with a more general formulation, involving additional two-dimensional equilibrium equations, as a consequence of three-dimensional equations for force and moment stresses, in conjunction with a stipulation of surface force and moment load intensities for two face surfaces in place of the one middle surface. The main intent of the analysis is an illumination of the concept of a mechanical Cosserat-surface theory, in comparison with ordinary two-dimensional shell theory.
Zusammenfassung Die übliche zweidimensionale Schalentheorie kann formuliert werden, indem man sechs Differentialgleichungen für Spannungsresultierende, Momente, Mittel flächenkraft und Momentlastintensität zusammen mit dem Prinzip der virtuellen Verschiebungen dazu benutzt, um ein System von Dehnungs-Verschiebungsgleichungen abzuleiten. Die vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit einer verallgemeinerten Formulierung, mit zusätzlichen zweidimensionalen Gleichgewichtsbedingungen, die von einer dreidimensionalen Theorie für Kraft- und Momentenspannungen abgeleitet werden, zusammen mit einer Vorschrift über zwei Systeme von Ober flächenkräften und Momentlastintensitäten anstelle des einen Mittelfllächenlastsystems. Der Hauptzweck der Analyse ist die Beleuchtung des Begriffs der mechanischen Cosserat-Flächentheorie im Vergleich zur üblichen zweidimensionalen linearen Schalentheorie.
