In developing software systems, a manager’s goal is to design software using limited resources and meet the user requirements. One of the important user requirements concerns the reliability of the software. The decision to choose the right software modules (components) becomes extremely difficult because of the number of parameters to be considered while making the decision. If suitable components are not available, then the decision process is further complicated with build versus buy decisions. In this paper, we have formulated a fuzzy multi-objective approach to optimal decision “build-or-buy” for component selection for a fault-tolerant modular software system under the consensus recovery block scheme. A joint optimization model is formulated where the two objectives are maximization of system reliability and minimization of the system cost with a constraint on delivery time. An example of developing a retail system for small-and-medium-size enterprises is used to illustrate the proposed methodology.  相似文献

Bilevel programming has been proposed for dealing with decision processes involving two decision makers with a hierarchical structure. They are characterized by the existence of two optimization problems in which the constraint region of the upper level problem is implicitly determined by the lower level optimization problem. Focus of the paper is on general bilevel optimization problems with multiple objectives at the upper level of decision making. When all objective functions are linear and constraints at both levels define polyhedra, it is proved that the set of efficient solutions is non-empty. Taking into account the properties of the feasible region of the bilevel problem, some methods of computing efficient solutions are given based on both weighted sum scalarization and scalarization techniques. All the methods result in solving linear bilevel problems with a single objective function at each level.  相似文献

A bilevel hierarchical clustering model is commonly used in designing optimal multicast networks. In this paper, we consider two different formulations of the bilevel hierarchical clustering problem, a discrete optimization problem which can be shown to be NP-hard. Our approach is to reformulate the problem as a continuous optimization problem by making some relaxations on the discreteness conditions. Then Nesterov’s smoothing technique and a numerical algorithm for minimizing differences of convex functions called the DCA are applied to cope with the nonsmoothness and nonconvexity of the problem. Numerical examples are provided to illustrate our method.  相似文献

Component based software system approach is concerned with the system development by integrating components. The component based software construction primarily focuses on the view that software systems can be built up in modular fashion. The modular design is a logical collection of several independent developed components that are assembled with well defined software architecture. These components can be developed in-house or can be obtained commercially from outside market making build versus buy decision an important consideration in development process. Cohesion and coupling (C&C) plays a major role in determining the system quality in terms of reliability, maintainability and availability. Cohesion is defined as the internal interaction of components within the module. On the other hand, coupling is the external interaction of the module with other modules i.e. interaction of components amongst the modules of the software system. High cohesion and low coupling is one of the important criteria for good software design. Intra-modular coupling density (ICD) is a measure that describes the relationship between cohesion and coupling of modules in a modular software system and its value lies between zero and one. This paper deals with the selection of right mix of components for a modular software system using build-or-buy strategy. In this paper, fuzzy bi-criteria optimization model is formulated for component selection under build-or-buy scheme. The model simultaneously maximizes intra-modular coupling density (ICD) and functionality within the limitation of budget, reliability and delivery time. The model is further extended by incorporating the issue of compatibility amongst the components of the modules. A case study is devised to explain the formulated model.  相似文献

二层决策系统包含着两个最优化决策问题,其中上层决策问题的目标值是由下层决策的解所隐含地确定的.本文研究了二层决策问题的另一方面的灵敏度分析问题,讨论了上层决策者的价值系数发生变化而二层决策问题的最优解不变所产生的灵敏度分析问题.为了确定二层决策问题价值系数发生变化的范围,首先我们给出了灵敏度分析的基本方法,结合“k th-best”算法我们又给出了灵敏度分析的操作步骤.在所确定的变化范围内,价值系数的变化,不会引起二层决策问题的全局最优解的变化,从而为决策者提供了相对稳定的决策方案.最后我们给出了数值实例,它表明本文所给出的灵敏度分析的方法是正确的.  相似文献

Many applications of bilevel optimization contain a leader facing a follower whose reaction deviates from the one expected by the leader due to some kind of bounded rationality. We consider bilinear bilevel problems with follower's response uncertainty due to limited observability regarding the leader's decision and exploit robust optimization to model the decision making of the follower. We show that the robust counterpart of the lower level allows to tackle the problem via the lower level's KKT conditions.  相似文献

Multilevel programming is characterized as mathematical programming to solve decentralized planning problems. The models partition control over decision variables among ordered levels within a hierarchical planning structure of which the linear bilevel form is a special case of a multilevel programming problem. In a system with such a hierarchical structure, the high-level decision making situations generally require inclusion of zero-one variables representing ‘yes-no’ decisions. We provide a mixed-integer linear bilevel programming formulation in which zero-one decision variables are controlled by a high-level decision maker and real-value decision variables are controlled by a low-level decision maker. An algorithm based on the short term memory component of Tabu Search, called Simple Tabu Search, is developed to solve the problem, and two supplementary procedures are proposed that provide variations of the algorithm. Computational results disclose that our approach is effective in terms of both solution quality and efficiency.  相似文献

A sales territory design problem faced by a manufacturing company that supplies products to a group of customers located in a service region is addressed in this paper. The planning process of designing the territories has the objective to minimizing the total dispersion of the customers without exceeding a limited budget assigned to each territory. Once territories have been determined, a salesperson has to define the day-by-day routes to satisfy the demand of customers. Currently, the company has established a service level policy that aims to minimize total waiting times during the distribution process. Also, each territory is served by a single salesperson. A novel discrete bilevel optimization model for the sales territory design problem is proposed. This problem can be seen as a bilevel problem with a single leader and multiple independent followers, in which the leader’s problem corresponds to the design of territories (manager of the company), and the routing decision for each territory corresponds to each follower. The hierarchical nature of the current company’s decision-making process triggers some particular characteristics of the bilevel model. A brain storm algorithm that exploits these characteristics is proposed to solve the discrete bilevel problem. The main features of the proposed algorithm are that the workload is used to verify the feasibility and to cluster the leader’s solutions. In addition, four discrete mechanisms are used to generate new solutions, and an elite set of solutions is considered to reduce computational cost. This algorithm is used to solve a real case study, and the results are compared against the current solution given by the company. Results show a reduction of more than 20% in the current costs with the solution obtained by the proposed algorithm. Furthermore, a sensitivity analysis is performed, providing interesting managerial insights to improve the current operations of the company.  相似文献

Approximately twenty years ago the modern interest for hierarchical programming was initiated by J. Bracken and J.M. McGill [9], [10]. The activities in the field have ever grown lively, both in terms of theoretical developments and terms of the diversity of the applications. The collection of seven papers in this issue covers a diverse number of topics and provides a good picture of recent research activities in the field of bilevel and hierarchical programming. The papers can be roughly divided into three categories; Linear bilevel programming is addressed in the first two papers by Gendreau et al and Moshirvaziri et al; The following three papers by Nicholls, Loridan & Morgan, and Kalashnikov & Kalashnikova are concerned with nonlinear bilevel programming; and, finally, Wen & Lin and Nagase & Aiyoshi address hierarchical decision making issues relating to both biobjective and bilevel programming.  相似文献

Decision theory dealing with uncertainty is usually considering criteria such as expected, minimum or maximum values. In economic areas, the quantile criterion is commonly used and provides significant advantages. This paper gives interest to the quantile optimization in decision making for designing irrigation strategies. We developed P2q, a hierarchical decomposition algorithm which belongs to the branching methods family. It consists in repeating the creation, evaluation and selection of smaller promising regions. Opposite to common approaches, the main criterion of interest is the α-quantile where α is related to the decision maker risk acceptance. Results of an eight parameters optimization problem are presented. Quantile optimization provided optimal irrigation strategies that differed from thus reached with expected value optimization, responding more accurately to the decision maker preferences.  相似文献

One of the most promising approaches for clustering is based on methods of mathematical programming. In this paper we propose new optimization methods based on DC (Difference of Convex functions) programming for hierarchical clustering. A bilevel hierarchical clustering model is considered with different optimization formulations. They are all nonconvex, nonsmooth optimization problems for which we investigate attractive DC optimization Algorithms called DCA. Numerical results on some artificial and real-world databases are reported. The results demonstrate that the proposed algorithms are more efficient than related existing methods.  相似文献

Classic bilevel programming deals with two level hierarchical optimization problems in which the leader attempts to optimize his/her objective, subject to a set of constraints and his/her follower’s solution. In modelling a real-world bilevel decision problem, some uncertain coefficients often appear in the objective functions and/or constraints of the leader and/or the follower. Also, the leader and the follower may have multiple conflicting objectives that should be optimized simultaneously. Furthermore, multiple followers may be involved in a decision problem and work cooperatively according to each of the possible decisions made by the leader, but with different objectives and/or constraints. Following our previous work, this study proposes a set of models to describe such fuzzy multi-objective, multi-follower (cooperative) bilevel programming problems. We then develop an approximation Kth-best algorithm to solve the problems.  相似文献

When multiple followers are involved in a bilevel decision problem, the leader’s decision will be affected, not only by the reactions of these followers, but also by the relationships among these followers. One of the popular situations within this bilevel multi-follower issue is where these followers are uncooperatively making their decisions while having cross reference to decision information of the other followers. This situation is called a referential-uncooperative situation in this paper. The well-known Kuhn–Tucker approach has been previously successfully applied to a one-leader-and-one-follower linear bilevel decision problem. This paper extends this approach to deal with the above-mentioned linear referential-uncooperative bilevel multi-follower decision problem. The paper first presents a decision model for this problem. It then proposes an extended Kuhn–Tucker approach to solve this problem. Finally, a numerical example illustrates the application of the extended Kuhn–Tucker approach.  相似文献

Bilevel programming has been proposed for dealing with decision processes involving two decision makers with a hierarchical structure. They are characterized by the existence of two optimization problems in which the constraint region of the upper level problem is implicitly determined by the lower level optimization problem. In this paper a genetic algorithm is proposed for the class of bilevel problems in which both level objective functions are linear fractional and the common constraint region is a bounded polyhedron. The algorithm associates chromosomes with extreme points of the polyhedron and searches for a feasible solution close to the optimal solution by proposing efficient crossover and mutation procedures. The computational study shows a good performance of the algorithm, both in terms of solution quality and computational time.  相似文献

Product family design is generally characterized by two types of approaches: module-based and scale-based. While the former aims to enable product variety based on module configuration, the latter is to variegate product design by scaling up or down certain design parameters. The prevailing practice is to treat module configuration and scaling design as separate decisions or aggregate two design problems as a single-level, all-in-one optimization problem. In practice, optimization of scaling variables is always enacted within a specific modular platform; and meanwhile an optimal module configuration depends on how design parameters are to be scaled. The key challenge is how to deal with explicitly the coupling of these two design optimization problems.  相似文献

This paper examines the effectiveness of joint decision making within 87 pairs of buyer-supplier relationships in manufacturing. Joint decision making is an important attribute of a more cooperative supply chain relationship that may ultimately result in a better performance. Efficiency is modeled as a multiple criteria problem using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). Inputs of five kinds of joint decision making activity are examined relative to two measures of output based on the assessment of the buying firm. Three contingent constructs (product customization and innovation, media richness of the communication between buyer and supplier, and continuity in the relationship) are then examined for their impact on the relative performance of each pair. The implications for the management of supply chain relationships and benchmarking of best practice are then discussed.  相似文献
