The geometrical structures implicit in the de Broglie waves associated with a relativistic charged scalar quantum mechanical particle in an external field are analyzed by employing the ray concept of the causal interpretation. It is shown how an osculating Finslerian metric tensor, a torsion tensor, and a tetrad field define respectively the strain, the dislocation density, and the Burgers vector in the natural state of the wave, which is a non-Riemannian space of distant parallelism. A quantum torque determined by the quantum potential is introduced and the example of a screw dislocated wave is discussed.  相似文献

The parameters of wire gratings with various relationships between their period and the spacing of the wires have been studied experimentally. It is shown that a single grating with a period of 30 m and a wire diameter of 8 m polarizes not less than 92% of radiation in the 150–650 m wavelength range, while two such gratings polarize almost all the radiation in this range.  相似文献

In the traditional form of canonical quantization, certain field components (not having conjugate momenta) must be regarded as noncanonical. This long-known distinction enters modern gauge theories, when they are canonically quantized as by Kugo and Ojima. We avoid that peculiarity by not using any conjugate momenta at all. In our formulation, canonical quantization can be related to Feynman's path integral.  相似文献

Utilising as starting point the double solution theory of Louis de Broglie and the Bohm-Vigier hypothesis of subquantum fluctuations, an attempt is made to give an example of the nonlinear field theory in which the guidance theorem of de Broglie can be realised. Fundamental experiments on the dual nature of atomic entities (photons, electrons, neutrons, etc.) can be interpreted in terms of empty waves not carrying energy and momentum. Similar points of view were advanced in famous papers by Einstein, de Broglie, Bohr, and Born. Recent proposals could lead to experimental tests of this idea, using low intensity photon beams, thanks to modern experimental apparatuses.  相似文献

The paper solves the problem of gas ionization in a discharge path in a very dilute gas, where the free path of the electrons is much larger than the dimensions of the path and the transit time of the electrons between the electrodes is of the order of the period of the applied h-f voltage. It was found that for a certain ratio of the transit time of the electrons between the electrodes in the discharge path to the period of the h-f oscillation, resonance occurs when the wattless current component is zero. The electron density rises in the path and thus also the gas ionization.

Examples are adduced which lead one to ask if the following rule of unanimity makes sense: Given, a classical dynamical problem. Given, that all solutions of the equations of motion (a) run into a singularity [or (b) are free of singularity], except a set of measure zero. Then (rule of unanimity), all solutions of the corresponding quantum mechanical problem are (a) singular [or (b) free of singularity]. The algebraic structure of exactly solvable equations is reviewed and results are reported which 1) establish that isospectral eigenvalue problems yield hereditary symmetries for bi-Hamiltonian equations and 2) show that if both an equation and its modified equation have known Hamiltonian formulations then their hereditary symmetries and bi-Hamiltonian formulations are readily obtained via their Miura transformation.Invited talk presented at the International Symposium Selected Topics in Quantum Field Theory and Mathematical Physics, Bechyn, Czechoslovakia, June 14–19, 1981.  相似文献

Recently, a class of -invariant scalar quantum field theories described by the non-Hermitian Lagrangian = () 2 +g 2 (i) was studied. It was found that there are two regions of . For <0 the -invariance of the Lagrangian is spontaneously broken, and as a consequence, all but the lowest-lying energy levels are complex. For 0 the -invariance of the Lagrangian is unbroken, and the entire energy spectrum is real and positive. The subtle transition at =0 is not well understood. In this paper we initiate an investigation of this transition by carrying out a detailed numerical study of the effective potential V eff (c) in zero-dimensional spacetime. Although this numerical work reveals some differences between the <0 and the >0 regimes, we cannot yet see convincing evidence of the transition at =0 in the structure of the effective potential for -symmetric quantum field theories.  相似文献

Difficulties in the interpretation of high-energy nuclear interactions are discussed and explanations suggested on the basis of successive or composite nucleon-nucleus collisions, the first predominant below a few 10 11 eV,the second for higher energies. In the energy region up to about 10 11 eVsome discrepancies in the frequency of production of strange particles, the small interaction cross-section of iron etc. are explained, taking into account secondary intranuclear collisions. The tunnel model of Heitler and McCusker is replaced by assuming a cone-shaped interaction volume (funnel) even at the highest primary energies. A number of consequences concerning the energies of the primary particles, the multiplicity and asymmetry in the angular distribution of secondaries, coefficient of inelasticity etc. are discussed.

It was pointed out in paper [1] that special cases of this solution are the problems of the torsion of a notched and unnotched rectangularly-shaped bar. Here, some results obtained earlier are generalized and in one concrete case very good agreement is obtained with the results of Sapondjan [2].
