An elementary proof of the maximum principle for optimal control problems whose states are governed by Volterra integral equations is given. Our proof is motivated by the work of Michel (Ref. 7) and utilizes only elementary results from analysis and mathematical programming. By appealing to Pontryagin-type perturbations of the controls, the above optimal control problem is effectively reduced to a mathematical programming problem. The results are then obtained by appealing to well-known mathematical programming results.  相似文献

This paper extends the principal supporting results and the general convergence theorems for penalty methods, obtained by Fiacco and McCormick (Ref. 1) for the continuous mathematical programming problem, to the problem of minimizing a mildly regulated objective function over any nonempty subset ofE n.The constraint set need not be defined through a collection of inequalities. A general auxiliary function is defined, and the desired minimizing sequence is shown to exist, without additional assumptions (i.e., assumptions other than those invoked in the principal convergence theorem of Ref. 1). A particularly interesting consequence is the fact that a discrete (e.g., integer) programming problem can be solved by asingle unconstrained minimization of the auxiliary function.  相似文献

In Ref. 1, bilevel programming problems have been investigated using an equivalent formulation by use of the optimal value function of the lower level problem. In this comment, it is shown that Ref. 1 contains two incorrect results: in Proposition 2.1, upper semicontinuity instead of lower semicontinuity has to be used for guaranteeing existence of optimal solutions; in Theorem 5.1, the assumption that the abnormal part of the directional derivative of the optimal value function reduces to zero has to be replaced by the demand that a nonzero abnormal Lagrange multiplier does not exist.  相似文献

In this paper, the η-approximation method introduced by Antczak (Ref. 1) for solving a nonlinear constrained mathematical programming problem involving invex functions with respect to the same function η is extended. In this method, a so-called η-approximated optimization problem associated with the original mathematical programming problems is constructed; moreover, an η-saddle point and an η-Lagrange function are defined. By the help of the constructed η-approximated optimization problem, saddle-point criteria are obtained for the original mathematical programming problem. The equivalence between an η-saddle point of the η-Lagrangian of the associated η-approximated optimization problem and an optimal solution in the original mathematical programming problem is established.  相似文献

Dinkelbach's algorithm was developed to solve convex fractinal programming. This method achieves the optimal solution of the optimisation problem by means of solving a sequence of non-linear convex programming subproblems defined by a parameter. In this paper it is shown that Dinkelbach's algorithm can be used to solve general fractional programming. The applicability of the algorithm will depend on the possibility of solving the subproblems. Dinkelbach's extended algorithm is a framework to describe several algorithms which have been proposed to solve linear fractional programming, integer linear fractional programming, convex fractional programming and to generate new algorithms. The applicability of new cases as nondifferentiable fractional programming and quadratic fractional programming has been studied. We have proposed two modifications to improve the speed-up of Dinkelbachs algorithm. One is to use interpolation formulae to update the parameter which defined the subproblem and another truncates the solution of the suproblem. We give sufficient conditions for the convergence of these modifications. Computational experiments in linear fractional programming, integer linear fractional programming and non-linear fractional programming to evaluate the efficiency of these methods have been carried out.  相似文献

A new method is used for solving nonlinear multiobjective fractional programming problems having V-invex objective and constraint functions with respect to the same function η. In this approach, an equivalent vector programming problem is constructed by a modification of the objective fractional function in the original nonlinear multiobjective fractional problem. Furthermore, a modified Lagrange function is introduced for a constructed vector optimization problem. By the help of the modified Lagrange function, saddle point results are presented for the original nonlinear fractional programming problem with several ratios. Finally, a Mond-Weir type dual is associated, and weak, strong and converse duality results are established by using the introduced method with a modified function. To obtain these duality results between the original multiobjective fractional programming problem and its original Mond-Weir duals, a modified Mond-Weir vector dual problem with a modified objective function is constructed.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a multi-objective linear fractional programming (MOLFP) approach for multi-objective linear fuzzy goal programming (MOLFGP) problem. Here, we consider a problem in which a set of pair of goals are optimized in ratio rather than optimizing them individually. In particular, we consider the optimization of profit to cash expenditure and crop production in various seasons to land utilization as a fractional objectives and used remaining goals in its original form. Further, the goals set in agricultural production planning are conflicting in nature; thus we use the concept of conflict and nonconflict between goals for computation of appropriate aspiration level. The method is illustrated on a problem of agricultural production system for comparison with Biswas and Pal [1] method to show its suitability.  相似文献

A highly accurate algorithm, based on support vector machines formulated as linear programs (Refs. 1–2), is proposed here as a completely unconstrained minimization problem (Ref. 3). Combined with a chunking procedure (Ref. 4), this approach, which requires nothing more complex than a linear equation solver, leads to a simple and accurate method for classifying million-point datasets. Because a 1-norm support vector machine underlies the proposed approach, the method suppresses input space features as well. A state-of-the-art linear programming package (CPLEX, Ref. 5) fails to solve problems handled by the proposed algorithm.This research was supported by National Science Foundation Grants CCR-0138308 and IIS-0511905.  相似文献

A sufficient optimality criterion for linearly-constrained concave minimization problems is given in this paper. Our optimality criterion is based on the sensitivity analysis of the relaxed linear programming problem. The main result is similar to that of Phillips and Rosen (Ref. 1); however, our proofs are simpler and constructive.In the Phillips and Rosen paper (Ref. 1), they derived a sufficient optimality criterion for a slightly different linearly-constrained concave minimization problem using exponentially many linear programming problems. We introduce special test points and, using these for several cases, we are able to show optimality of the current basic solution.The sufficient optimality criterion described in this paper can be used as a stopping criterion for branch-and-bound algorithms developed for linearly-constrained concave minimization problems.This research was supported by a Bolyai János Research Fellowship BO/00334/00 of the Hungarian Academy of Science and by the Hungarian Scientific Research Foundation, Grant OTKA T038027.  相似文献

A generalization of a well-known multiple objective linear fractional programming (MOLFP) problem, the multiple objective fractional programming (MOFP) problem, is formulated. A concept of multiple objective programming (MOP) problem corresponding to MOFP is introduced and some relations between those problems are examined. Based on these results, a compromise procedure for MOLFP problem is proposed. A numerical example is given to show how the procedure works.  相似文献

The auxiliary problem principle allows one to find the solution of a problem (minimization problem, saddle-point problem, etc.) by solving a sequence of auxiliary problems. There is a wide range of possible choices for these problems, so that one can give special features to them in order to make them easier to solve. We introduced this principle in Ref. 1 and showed its relevance to decomposing a problem into subproblems and to coordinating the subproblems. Here, we derive several basic or abstract algorithms, already given in Ref. 1, and we study their convergence properties in the framework of i infinite-dimensional convex programming.  相似文献

One of the critical issues in the effective use of surrogate relaxation for an integer programming problem is how to solve the surrogate dual within a reasonable amount of computational time. In this paper, we present an exact and efficient algorithm for solving the surrogate dual of an integer programming problem. Our algorithm follows the approach which Sarin et al. (Ref. 8) introduced in their surrogate dual multiplier search algorithms. The algorithms of Sarin et al. adopt an ad-hoc stopping rule in solving subproblems and cannot guarantee the optimality of the solutions obtained. Our work shows that this heuristic nature can actually be eliminated. Convergence proof for our algorithm is provided. Computational results show the practical applicability of our algorithm.  相似文献

This paper describes the use of preemptive priority based fuzzy goal programming method to fuzzy multiobjective fractional decision making problems under the framework of multistage dynamic programming. In the proposed approach, the membership functions for the defined objective goals with fuzzy aspiration levels are determined first without linearizing the fractional objectives which may have linear or nonlinear forms. Then the problem is solved recursively for achievement of the highest membership value (unity) by using priority based goal programming methodology at each decision stages and thereby identifying the optimal decision in the present decision making arena. A numerical example is solved to represent potentiality of the proposed approach.  相似文献

This paper deals with a recently proposed Slater-like regularity condition for the mathematical programming problem in infinite-dimensional vector spaces (Ref. 1). The attractive feature of this constraint qualification is the fact that it can be considered as a condition only on theactive part of the constraint. We prove that the studied regularity condition is equivalent to the regularity assumption normally used in the study of the mathematical programming problem in infinite-dimensional vector spaces.  相似文献

In this paper, we study a solid transportation problem with interval cost using fractional goal programming approach (FGP). In real life applications of the FGP problem with multiple objectives, it is difficult for the decision-maker(s) to determine the goal value of each objective precisely as the goal values are imprecise, vague, or uncertain. Therefore, a fuzzy goal programming model is developed for this purpose. The proposed model presents an application of fuzzy goal programming to the solid transportation problem. Also, we use a special type of non-linear (hyperbolic) membership functions to solve multi-objective transportation problem. It gives an optimal compromise solution. A new approach to obtaining the optimality conditions for fractional mathematical programming problems involving one objective ratio in the objective function is considered. Using this approach, an equivalent optimization problem is constructed by a modification of the single-ratio objective function in the fractional programming problem. The computational complexity of linear and nonlinear programming problems depends on the number of objective functions and constraints involved and solving a large problem often becomes a difficult task. Redundancy detection and elimination provides a suitable tool for reducing this complexity and simplifying a linear or nonlinear programming problem while maintaining the essential properties of the original system. Although a large number of redundancy detection methods have been proposed to simplify linear and nonlinear stochastic programming problems, very little research has been developed for fuzzy stochastic (FS) fractional programming problems. We propose an algorithm that allows to simultaneously detect both redundant objective function(s) and redundant constraint(s) in FS multi-objective linear fractional programming problems. More precisely, our algorithm reduces the number of linear fuzzy fractional objective functions by transforming them in probabilistic–possibilistic constraints characterized by predetermined confidence levels. We present two numerical examples to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed algorithm and exhibit its efficacy.  相似文献

Using Balakrishnan's epsilon problem formulation (Ref. 1) and the Rayleigh-Ritz method with an orthogonal polynomial function basis, optimal control problems are transformed from the standard two-point boundary-value problem to a nonlinear programming problem. The resulting matrix-vector equations describing the optimal solution have standard parallel solution methods for implementation on parallel processor arrays. The method is modified to handle inequality constraints, and some results are presented under which specialized nonlinear functions, such as sines and cosines, can be handled directly. Some computational results performed on an Intel Sugarcube are presented to illustrate that considerable computational savings can be realized by using the proposed solution method.  相似文献

The question investigated is how to detect nonactive restrictions in positive-semidefinite quadratic programming. If the optimization problem satisfies some regularity conditions, we can use parametric optimization techniques for that analysis. It turns out that results obtained in Ref. 1, where only positive-definite matrices are considered, can be generalized to the semidefinite case. Simple calculations based exclusively on the problem data allow one to delete superfluous restrictions for this problem class during an optimization procedure.  相似文献
