In this paper we study travelling wave solutions to a system of four non‐linear partial differential equations, which arise in a tissue interaction model for skin morphogenesis. Under the ‘small‐stress’ assumption we prove the existence and uniqueness (up to a translation) of solutions with the dermis and epidermis cell densities being positive, which are a perturbation of a uniform epidermal cell density. We prove the global existence of solutions to a model for a viscous, compressible, barotropic fluid initially occupying a general open subset of a finite, one-dimensional interval. The fluid equations are applied only on the support of the density, understood in the sense of distributions. This support must be tracked and accommodation must be made for the possibly infinite number of collisions of fluid packets occurring on a possibly dense set of collision times. Our approach avoids certain nonphysical properties of solutions which are constructed as limits of solutions in which artificial mass has been inserted.  相似文献

The existence and the uniqueness of solutions to a problem of miscible liquids are investigated in this note. The model consists of Navier–Stokes equations with Korteweg stress terms coupled with the reaction–diffusion equation for the concentration. We assume that the fluid is incompressible and the Boussinesq approximation is adopted. The global existence and uniqueness of solutions is established for some optimal conditions on the reaction source term and the external force functions.  相似文献

We prove the existence of weak solutions for a 3D phase change model introduced by Michel Frémond in (Non‐smooth Thermomechanics. Springer: Berlin, 2002) showing, via a priori estimates, the weak sequential stability property in the sense already used by the first author in (Comput. Math. Appl. 2007; 53 :461–490). The result follows by passing to the limit in an approximate problem obtained adding a superlinear part (in terms of the gradient of the temperature) in the heat flux law. We first prove well posedness for this last problem and then—using proper a priori estimates—we pass to the limit showing that the total energy is conserved during the evolution process and proving the non‐negativity of the entropy production rate in a suitable sense. Finally, these weak solutions turn out to be the classical solution to the original Frémond's model provided all quantities in question are smooth enough. We study a second order nonlinear boundary value problem subject to some nonlocal boundary conditions, which models a thermostat. The sensors are linear functionals, one gives feedback from part of the interval to a controller at one endpoint, the other gives feedback to a controller at the other endpoint. We determine the Green’s function and establish its useful properties which enables us to establish the existence of multiple positive solutions and to prove nonexistence results. We calculate all relevant constants in some explicit examples.  相似文献

The main result of this note is the existence of nonclassical solutions to the Cauchy problem for a conservation law modeling pedestrian flow. From the physical point of view, the main assumption of this model was recently experimentally confirmed in [D. Helbing, A. Johansson, H.Z. Al-Abideen, Dynamics of crowd disasters: An empirical study, Phys. Rev. E 75 (4) (2007) 046109]. Furthermore, the present model describes the fall in a door through-flow due to the rise of panic, as well as the Braess’ paradox. From the analytical point of view, this model is an example of a conservation law in which nonclassical solutions have a physical motivation and a global existence result for the Cauchy problem, with large data, is available.  相似文献

In this letter, we establish an existence theory for an overdetermined system of nonlinear PDEs describing hydrostatics of fluid-saturated granular materials. Our proof consists of three steps: (i) the conduction of an integrability analysis, (ii) the reduction of the governing system to a singular elliptic PDE, for which the existence of solutions can be obtained via weak-convergence methods, and (iii) the development of an existence theory for the original system.  相似文献

We consider a one-dimensional bipolar hydrodynamic model of semiconductors. Although some results exist for the bipolar case, almost their conditions (the boundary condition, the doping profile, etc.) are far from practical application. In the present paper, under a condition appropriate for engineering, we shall prove the existence and the uniqueness of classical solutions for the stationary problem. The most difficult point is to obtain the bounded estimate and the energy estimate.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to establishing a critical value of the concentration of one intermediary reactant which determines whether pattern solutions of a class of Brusselator models exist or not. We introduce a new method to compute the degree index of the related linear operator so that the obtained sufficient conditions are easier to verify than those in the known references. We consider an anisotropic phase‐field model for the isothermal solidification of a binary alloy due to Warren–Boettinger ( Acta. Metall. Mater. 1995; 43 (2):689). Existence of weak solutions is established under a certain convexity condition on the strongly non‐linear second‐order anisotropic operator and Lipschitz and boundedness assumptions for the non‐linearities. A maximum principle holds that guarantees the existence of a solution under physical assumptions on the non‐linearities. A non-autonomous SIR model with periodic transmission rate and a constant removal rate is formulated. By using the continuation theorem of coincidence degree theory, sufficient conditions for the existence of at least two positive periodic solutions are obtained. The stability of the periodic solution for small seasonality is investigated. Numerical simulations are done to show our theoretical results.  相似文献
