The compound Tb[Au(CN)2]3.3H(2)O crystallizes in a layered structure in the hexagonal space group P6(3)/mcm with the 9-coordinate environment of Tb3+ comprising six (CN)- and three OH2 in a tricapped trigonal prism. The shortest Au...Au distance is 3.31 angstroms. The vibrational spectra show that the series Ln[Au(CN)2]3.3H2O (Ln = Y, Pr, Sm, Eu, Tb) are isostructural. The electronic spectra of Eu[Au(CN)2]3.3H2O clearly show that Eu3+ occupies one site of spectroscopic site symmetry D3h, in agreement with the crystallographic data. The electronic emission and absorption spectra of Tb[Au(CN)2]3.3H2O have been recorded at temperatures down to 1.5 K, and the f-f pure electronic transitions are interpreted in detail as arising from the lowest electronic states (in D3h symmetry) (7F6)E' in absorption and (5D4)E' in emission. At low energy, further bands are assigned to the vibronic structure of the CN stretching and water stretching modes, with the latter more predominant. Although the CN stretching vibrations show exclusive infrared or Raman activity in Tb[Au(CN)2]3.3H2O, both of these infrared and Raman active modes are observed in the two-center vibronic transitions. The reasons for this are discussed.  相似文献

Electronic absorption and magnetic circular dichroism were recorded for five cyclophanes with ethano bridges: [2.2]paracyclophane, (1,2,4)[2.2.2]cyclophane, (1,2,4;1,2,5)[2.2.2]cyclophane, (1,2,3,4,5,6)(1,2,3,4,5,6)cyclophane, and trans-[2.2]metacyclophane. Spectral and structural analyses were based on geometry optimization and calculations of transition energies, carried out using density functional theory methods. The assignments have been proposed for several electronic transitions observed in the region below 52,000 cm(-1). The observation of transitions which should be forbidden in the high D(2h) symmetry [2.2]paracyclophane suggests a twisted ground state structure of D(2) symmetry, although the former structure with large amplitude vibrations at room temperature cannot be excluded. The PBE0 functional turned out to appropriately reproduce the inter-ring distances and electronic transition energies.  相似文献

Low-temperature luminescence spectra from three salts of the trans-[OsO(2)(NCS)(4)](2-) complex exhibit highly resolved vibronic structure in both metal-ligand high-frequency O=Os=O (885 cm(-1)) and lower-frequency Os-N(CS) (255 cm(-1)) symmetric stretching modes as well as in a ligand-centered CS stretching mode (858 cm(-1)). Band maxima range from 10000 to 12000 cm(-1), and spectra contain irregular frequency intervals that correspond to transitions from more than one origin and phonon sidebands. Experimental band shapes are distinctly different for all three compounds and are calculated assuming harmonic potential energy surfaces for both the ground and emitting states. Normal-coordinate offsets along all displaced vibrational modes are determined and compared for the three compounds. The analyses reveal emitting-state displacement of high-frequency ligand-centered (CS) and metal-ligand (O=Os=O) symmetric stretching modes, leading to observed high-frequency intervals (855-880 cm(-1)) that do not match any frequencies determined from ground-state Raman spectra. The values for the high-frequency normal-coordinate offsets, DeltaQ(O=Os=O) and DeltaQ(CS), were found to be on the order of 0.06 A. Offsets along the 255 cm(-1) Os-N mode varied noticeably between the three compounds and were largest for the compound with the largest value of DeltaQ(CS).  相似文献

Detailed low-temperature single-crystal polarized absorption and luminescence spectra of Cs2[CrCl2(H2O)4]Cl3 are reported. The luminescence spectrum is a broad band with a maximum at 11,800 cm (-1), indicating that the trans-[CrCl2(H2O)4]+ complex emits from a quartet excited state. The resolved vibronic structure reveals a progression in a nontotally symmetric 445 cm (-1) b1g mode, a manifestation of a Jahn-Teller effect in the emitting state. The absorption spectrum shows completely linearly polarized, magnetic-dipole-allowed electronic origins, defining the tetragonal splitting of the states originating from 4T2g (Oh). An energy gap of approximately 800 cm (-1) is observed between the electronic origins of the emitting state and the onset of the pi-polarized absorption spectrum. Both Jahn-Teller and spin-orbit couplings in the orbitally degenerate 4Eg (D4h) state are necessary to account for the spectroscopic observations.  相似文献

The BrO(3)F(2)(-) anion has been prepared by reaction of BrO(3)F with the fluoride ion donors KF, RbF, CsF, [N(CH(3))(4)][F], and NOF. The BrO(3)F(2)(-) anion is only the fourth Br(VII) species to have been isolated in macroscopic quantities, and it is one of only three oxide fluorides that possess D(3)(h)() symmetry, the others being XeO(3)F(2) and OsO(3)F(2). The fluoride ion acceptor properties of BrO(3)F contrast with those of ClO(3)F, which does not react with the strong fluoride ion donor [N(CH(3))(4)][F] to form the analogous ClO(3)F(2)(-) salt. The single-crystal X-ray structures of [NO](2)[BrO(3)F(2)][F] and [N(CH(3))(4)][BrO(3)F(2)] confirm the D(3)(h)() symmetry of the BrO(3)F(2)(-) anion and provide accurate Br-O (1.593(3)-1.610(6) A) and Br-F (1.849(5)-1.827(4) A) bond lengths. The salt, [NO](2)[BrO(3)F(2)][F], is fully ordered, crystallizing in the monoclinic space group, C2/c, with a = 9.892(3) A, b = 12.862(4) A, c = 10.141(4) A, beta = 90.75(2) degrees , V = 12460(7) A(3), Z = 4, and R(1) = 0.0671 at -173 degrees C, whereas [N(CH(3))(4))][BrO(3)F(2)] exhibits a 2-fold disorder of the anion, crystallizing in the tetragonal space group, P4/nmm, with a = 8.5718(7) A, c = 5.8117(6) A, V = 427.02(7) A(3), Z = 2, and R(1) = 0.0314 at -173 degrees C. The (19)F chemical shift of [N(CH(3))(4))][BrO(3)F(2)] in CH(3)CN is 237.0 ppm and is more deshielded than those of the previously investigated Br(VII) species, BrO(3)F and BrF(6)(+). The vibrational frequencies of the BrO(3)F(2)(-) anion were determined by use of Raman and infrared spectroscopy and were assigned with the aid of electronic structure calculations and by analogy with the vibrational assignments reported for XeO(3)F(2) and OsO(3)F(2). The internal and symmetry force constants of BrO(3)F(2)(-) were determined by use of general valence force field and B-matrix methods, respectively, and are compared with those of XeO(3)F(2), OsO(3)F(2), and the unknown ClO(3)F(2)(-) anion. The instability of ClO(3)F(2)(-) relative to BrO(3)F(2)(-) has been investigated by electronic structure calculations and rationalized in terms of atomic charges, Mayer bond orders, and Mayer valencies, and the enthalpies of fluoride ion attachment to BrO(3)F and ClO(3)F.  相似文献

We have applied time dependent density functional theory to study excited state structures of the tetroxo d(0) transition metal complexes MnO(4)(-), TcO(4)(-), RuO(4), and OsO(4). The excited state geometry optimization was based on a newly implemented scheme [Seth et al. Theor. Chem. Acc. 2011, 129, 331]. The first excited state has a C(3v) geometry for all investigated complexes and is due to a "charge transfer" transition from the oxygen based HOMO to the metal based LUMO. The second excited state can uniformly be characterized by "charge transfer" from the oxygen HOMO-1 to the metal LUMO with a D(2d) geometry for TcO(4)(-), RuO(4), and OsO(4) and two C(2v) geometries for MnO(4)(-). It is finally found that the third excited state of MnO(4)(-) representing the HOMO to metal based LUMO+1 orbital transition has a D(2d) geometry. On the basis of the calculated excited state structures and vibrational modes, the Franck-Condon method was used to simulate the vibronic structure of the absorption spectra for the tetroxo d(0) transition metal complexes. The Franck-Condon scheme seems to reproduce the salient features of the experimental spectra as well as the simulated vibronic structure for MnO(4)(-) generated from an alternative scheme [Neugebauer J. J. Phys. Chem. A 2005, 109, 1168] that does not apply the Franck-Condon approximation.  相似文献

Osmium tetroxide is reduced by molecular hydrogen in the presence of ligands in both polar and nonpolar solvents. In CHCl3 containing pyridine (py) or 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), OsO4 is reduced by H2 to the known Os(VI) dimers L2Os(O)2(mu-O)2Os(O)2L2 (L2 = py2, phen). However, in the absence of ligands in CHCl3 and other nonpolar solvents, OsO4 is unreactive toward H2 over a week at ambient temperatures. In basic aqueous media, H2 reduces OsO4(OH)n(n-) (n = 0, 1, 2) to the isolable Os(VI) complex, OsO2(OH)4(2-), at rates close to that found in py/CHCl3. Depending on the pH, the aqueous reactions are exergonic by deltaG = -20 to -27 kcal mol(-1), based on electrochemical data. The second-order rate constants for the aqueous reactions are larger as the number of coordinated hydroxide ligands increases, k(OsO4) = 1.6(2) x 10(-2) M(-1) s(-1) < k(OsO4(OH)-) = 3.8(4) x 10(-2) M(-1) s(-1) < k(OsO4(OH)2(2-)) = 3.8(4) x 10(-1) M(-1) s(-1). The observation of primary deuterium kinetic isotope effects, k(H2)/k(D2) = 3.1(3) for OsO4 and 3.6(4) for OsO4(OH)-, indicates that the rate-determining step in each case involves H-H bond cleavage. Density functional calculations and thermochemical arguments favor a concerted [3+2] addition of H2 across two oxo groups of OsO4(L)n and argue against H* or H- abstraction from H2 or [2+2] addition of H2 across one Os=O bond. The [3+2] mechanism is analogous to that of alkene addition to OsO4(L)n to form diolates, for which acceleration by added ligands has been extensively documented. The observation that ligands also accelerate H2 addition to OsO4(L)n highlights the analogy between these two reactions.  相似文献

trans-[Ru(PTA)4Cl2] (trans-1), (PTA = 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphatricyclo[3.3.1.13,7]decane) has been isolated and structurally characterized by X-ray crystallography. The structure reveals ruthenium in a slightly distorted-octahedral environment bound to two axial chlorides and four equatorial PTA ligands. In organic solvents, trans-1 undergoes a relatively clean isomerization to cis-1. In aqueous environments, trans-1 undergoes a more complicated transformation involving isomerization, protonation, and ligand substitution affording cis-1 and a series of structurally related molecules. From these results, we conclude that the synthesis of [Ru(PTA)4Cl2] (1) affords trans-1, not cis-1, as earlier reports suggest. The water-soluble hydride cis-[Ru(PTA)4H2] (2) has also been synthesized from the reaction of trans-[Ru(PTA)4Cl2] with excess sodium formate. Compound 2 is stable in deoxygenated water and undergoes H/D exchange with D2O (t1/2 approximately equal to 120 min, at 25 degrees C). The solid-state structures of both trans-1 and 2 are described.  相似文献

The fluoride ion acceptor properties of OsO4 and OsO3F2 were investigated. The salts [N(CH3)4][OsO4F] and [N(CH3)4]2[OsO4F2] were prepared by the reactions of OsO4 with stoichiometric amounts of [N(CH3)4][F] in CH3CN solvent. The salts [N(CH3)4][OsO3F3] and [NO][OsO3F3] were prepared by the reactions of OsO3F2 with a stoichiometric amount of [N(CH3)4][F] in CH3CN solvent and with excess NOF, respectively. The OsO4F- anion was fully structurally characterized in the solid state by vibrational spectroscopy and by a single-crystal X-ray diffraction study of [N(CH3)4][OsO4F]: Abm2, a = 7.017(1) A, b = 11.401(2) A, c = 10.925(2) A, V = 874.1(3) A3, Z = 4, and R = 0.0282 at -50 degrees C. The cis-OsO4F2(2-) anion was characterized in the solid state by vibrational spectroscopy, and previous claims regarding the cis-OsO4F2(2-) anion are shown to be erroneous. The fac-OsO3F3- anion was fully structurally characterized in CH3CN solution by 19F NMR spectroscopy and in the solid state by vibrational spectroscopy of its N(CH3)4+ and NO+ salts and by a single-crystal X-ray diffraction study of [N(CH3)4][OsO3F3]: C2/c, a = 16.347(4) A, b = 13.475(3) A, c = 11.436(3) A, beta = 134.128(4) degrees, V = 1808.1(7) A3, Z = 8, and R = 0.0614 at -117 degrees C. The geometrical parameters and vibrational frequencies of OsO4F-, cis-OsO4F2(2-), monomeric OsO3F2, and fac-OsO3F3- and the fluoride affinities of OsO4 and monomeric OsO3F2 were calculated using density functional theory methods.  相似文献

Sulfur K-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and density functional theory (DFT) calculations have been used to determine the electronic structures of a series of Mo tris(dithiolene) complexes, [Mo(mdt)3](z) (where mdt = 1,2-dimethylethene-1,2-dithiolate(2-) and z = 2-, 1-, 0), with near trigonal-prismatic geometries (D3h symmetry). These results show that the formally Mo(IV), Mo(V), and Mo(VI) complexes actually have a (dz(2))(2) configuration, that is, remain effectively Mo(IV) despite oxidation. Comparisons with the XAS data of another set of Mo tris(dithiolene) complexes, [Mo(tbbdt)3](z) (where tbbdt = 3,5-ditert-butylbenzene-1,2-dithiolate(2-) and z = 1-, 0), show that both neutral complexes, [Mo(mdt)3] and [Mo(tbbdt)3], have similar electronic structures while the monoanions do not. Calculations reveal that the "Bailar twist" present in the crystal structure of [Mo(tbbdt)3](1-) (D3 symmetry) but not [Mo(mdt)3](1-) (D3h symmetry) is controlled by electronic factors which arise from bonding differences between the mdt and tbbdt ligands. In the former, configuration interaction between the Mo d(z(2)) and a deeper energy, occupied ligand orbital, which occurs in D3 symmetry, destabilizes the Mo d(z(2)) to above another ligand orbital which is half-occupied in the D3h [Mo(mdt)3](1-) complex. This leads to a metal d(1) configuration with no ligand holes (i.e., d(1)[L3](0h)) for [Mo(tbbdt)3](1-) rather than the metal d(2) configuration with one ligand hole (i.e., d(2)[L3](1h)) for [Mo(mdt)3](1-). Thus, the Bailar twist observed in some metal tris(dithiolene) complexes is the result of configuration interaction between metal and ligand orbitals and can be probed experimentally by S K-edge XAS.  相似文献

Negatively charged sodium auride clusters, NanAun- (n = 1-3), have been investigated experimentally using photoelectron spectroscopy and ab initio calculations. Well-resolved electronic transitions were observed in the photoelectron spectra of NanAun- (n = 1-3) at several photon energies. Very large band gaps were observed in the photoelectron spectra of the anion clusters, indicating that the corresponding neutral clusters are stable closed-shell species. Calculations show that the global minimum of Na2Au2- is a quasi-linear species with Cs symmetry. A planar isomer of D2h symmetry is found to be 0.137 eV higher in energy. The two lowest energy isomers of Na3Au3- consist of three-dimensional structures of Cs symmetry. The global minimum of Na3Au3- has a bent-flake structure lying 0.077 eV below a more compact structure. The global minima of the sodium auride clusters are confirmed by the good agreement between the calculated electron detachment energies of the anions and the measured photoelectron spectra. The global minima of neutral Na2Au2 and Na3Au3 are found to possess higher symmetries with a planar four-membered ring (D2h) and a six-membered ring (D3h) structure, respectively. The chemical bonding in the sodium auride clusters is found to be highly ionic with Au acting as the electron acceptor.  相似文献

Osmium dioxide tetrafluoride, cis-OsO(2)F(4), reacts with the strong fluoride ion acceptors AsF(5) and SbF(5) in anhydrous HF and SbF(5) solutions to form orange salts. Raman spectra are consistent with the formation of the fluorine-bridged diosmium cation F(cis-OsO(2)F(3))(2)(+), as the AsF(6)(-) and Sb(2)F(11)(-) salts, respectively. The (19)F NMR spectra of the salts in HF solution are exchange-averaged singlets occurring at higher frequency than those of the fluorine environments of cis-OsO(2)F(4). The F(cis-OsO(2)F(3))(2)(+)Sb(2)F(11)(-) salt crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Imma. At -107 degrees C, a = 12.838(3) ?, b = 10.667(2) ?, c = 11.323(2) ?, V = 1550.7(8) ?(3), and Z = 4. Refinement converged with R = 0.0469 [R(w) = 0.0500]. The crystal structure consists of discrete fluorine-bridged F(cis-OsO(2)F(3))(2)(+) and Sb(2)F(11)(-) ions in which the fluorine bridge of the F(cis-OsO(2)F(3))(2)(+) cation is trans to an oxygen atom (Os-O 1.676 ?) of each OsO(2)F(3) group. The angle at the bridge is 155.2(8) degrees with a bridging Os---F(b) distance of 2.086(3) ?. Two terminal fluorine atoms (Os-F 1.821 ?) are cis to the two oxygen atoms (Os-O 1.750 ?), and two terminal fluorine atoms of the OsO(2)F(3) group are trans to one another (1.813 ?). The OsO(2)F(3)(+) cation was characterized by (19)F NMR and by Raman spectroscopy in neat SbF(5) solution but was not isolable in the solid state. The NMR and Raman spectroscopic findings are consistent with a trigonal bipyramidal cation in which the oxygen atoms and a fluorine atom occupy the equatorial plane and two fluorine atoms are in axial positions. Density functional theory calculations show that the crystallographic structure of F(cis-OsO(2)F(3))(2)(+) is the energy-minimized structure and the energy-minimized structures of the OsO(2)F(3)(+) cation and ReO(2)F(3) are trigonal bipyramidal having C(2)(v)() point symmetry. Attempts to prepare the OsOF(5)(+) cation by oxidative fluorination of cis-OsO(2)F(4) with KrF(+)AsF(6)(-) in anhydrous HF proved unsuccessful.  相似文献

The first carbonyl compound of a transition metal in the oxidation state +6 was obtained by reductive carbonylation of OsO(4) in SbF(5). Through the use of extensive IR, NMR, and UV/Vis spectroscopic studies as well as density functional calculations it was determined that the trans-[OsO(2)(CO)(4)](2+) cation adopts the octahedral structure shown in the picture with trans oxygen atoms.  相似文献

Of the four published osmium fluorine compounds in the oxidation state +7, OsO3F, OsO2F3, OsOF5, and OsF7, only one (OsOF5) is a real Os(VII) compound. OsO(3)F has obviously been OsO4. OsO2F3 in its two modifications is a mixed-valence Os(VI)/Os(VIII) compound, whereas a new compound Os2O3F7 is a mixed-valence OsV/Os(VIII) compound. The molecular structures of OsO3F, OsO2F3, and OsO3F2 are calculated. OsO3F2 seems to exist in two forms, with D3h and Cs symmetry. The original preparation of OsF7 could not be reproduced, only OsF6 has been obtained.  相似文献

The B(9)(-) cluster was found previously to be an unprecedented molecular wheel containing an octacoordinate planar boron with D(8h) symmetry in a combined photoelectron spectroscopy (PES) and theoretical study [H. J. Zhai et al., Angew. Chem., Int. Ed. 42, 6004 (2003)]. However, the PES spectra of B(9)(-) exhibit minor features that cannot be explained by the global minimum D(8h) structure, suggesting possible contributions from low-lying isomers at finite temperatures. Here we present Car-Parrinello molecular dynamics with simulated annealing simulations to fully explore the potential energy surface of B(9)(-) and search for low-lying isomers that may account for the minor PES features. We performed density functional theory (DFT) calculations with different exchange-correlation functionals and ab initio calculations at various levels of theory with different basis sets. Two three-dimensional low-lying isomers were found, both of C(s) symmetry, 6.29 (C(s)-2) and 10.23 (C(s)-1) kcal/mol higher in energy than the D(8h) structure at the highest CCSD(T) level of theory. Calculated detachment transitions from the C(s)-2 isomer are in excellent agreement with the minor features observed in the PES spectra of B(9)(-). The B(9)(-) cluster proves to be a challenge for most DFT methods and the calculated relative energies strongly depend on the exchange-correlation functionals, providing an excellent example for evaluating the accuracies of various DFT methods.  相似文献

The synthesis of trans-[RuCl(NO)(cyclam)]2+ (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) can be accomplished by either the addition of cyclam to K2[RuCl5NO] or by the addition of NO to trans-[RuCl(CF3SO3)(cyclam)](CF3-SO3). Crystals of trans-[RuCl(NO)(cyclam)](ClO4)2 form in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/c, with unit cell parameters of a = 7.66500(2) A, b = 24.7244(1) A, c = 16.2871(2) A, beta = 95.2550(10) degrees, and Z = 4. One of the two independent molecules in the unit cell lies disordered on a center of symmetry. For the ion in the general position, the Ru-N and N-O bond distances and the [Ru-N-O]3+ bond angle are 1.747(4) A, 1.128(5) A, 178.0(4) degrees, respectively. In both ions, cyclam adopts the (R,R,S,S) configuration, which is also consistent with 2D COSY 1H NMR studies in aqueous solution. Reduction (E degree = -0.1 V) results in the rapid loss of Cl- by first-order kinetics with k = 1.5 s-1 and the slower loss of NO (k = 6.10 x 10(-4) s-1, delta H++ = 15.3 kcal mol-1, delta S++ = -21.8 cal mol-1 K-1). The slow release of NO following reduction causes trans-[RuCl(NO)(cyclam)]2+ to be a promising controlled-release NO prodrug for vasodilation and other purposes. Unlike the related complex trans-[Ru(NO)(NH3)4(P(OEt)3)](PF6)2, trans-[RuCl(NO)(cyclam)]Cl2 is inactive in modulating evoked potentials recorded from mice hippocampal slices probably because of the slower dissociation of NO following reduction.  相似文献

The luminescence of trans-[TcO2(L)4]+ (L = pyridine (py) or picoline (pic)) and trans-[TcO2(CN)4]3- at room and low temperature is described and represents the first example of room temperature excited-state luminescence observed for Tc complexes. At room temperature, the complexes exhibited broad luminescence with emission maxima ranging from 745 to 780 nm. Analogous to the Re complexes (emission at 635-655 nm), the low-temperature emission spectra of microcrystalline samples of [TcO2(py)4]BPh4 and [TcO2(pic)4]BPh4 display the characteristic progressions of the symmetric O=Tc=O and Tc-L stretching modes. DFT/TDDFT calculations were performed on the trans-[MO2(L)4]+ (M = Re, Tc) congeners and predicted the dioxotechnetium emission to be 0.41 eV lower in energy than its Re analogue. Low-temperature lifetimes (8 K) ranging from 15 to 1926 mus for the series of Tc complexes are consistent with the Re analogues.  相似文献

The Raman and infrared spectra of solid K2(12)C2O4 x H2O are reported together with, for the first time, the corresponding Raman and infrared spectra of solid K2(13)C2O4 x H2O. Raman spectra of aqueous solutions of both isotopomers are also reported. In the solid state the oxalate anion is planar with D2h symmetry in this salt, whereas in aqueous solution the Raman spectra of the anion are best interpreted on the basis of D2d symmetry. The Raman spectra of solid (NH4)2(12)C2O4 x H2O and (NH4)2(13)C2O4 x H2O, in which the oxalate anion is twisted from planarity by 28 degrees about the CC bond, have also been recorded. Several reassignments have been made. The harmonic force field for the oxalate anion in the D2h, D2 and D2d geometries has been determined in part, and approximate values of key valence force constants determined. All the observed band wavenumbers and 12C/13C isotopic shifts are well reproduced by the force fields. The potential energy distribution of the totally symmetric normal modes of planar oxalate indicates that each mode consists of extensively mixed symmetry corrdinates and that the labels previously used for the bands seen here at 475 and 879 cm(-1) would better be described as v(CC) and deltaS(CO2), respectively, putting them in the same wavenumber order as v(NN) and deltaS(NO2) for the isoelectronic and isostructural molecule N2O4. The stretching force constants of N2O4 and planar C2O4(2-) are established to be in the order f(NN) < f(CC) and f(NO) > f(CO), consistent with the known relative bond lengths.  相似文献
