This paper analyzes optimization-based approaches for a social security simulation model under demographic and economic uncertainties. The model is a compromise between a purely actuarial model and an overlapping generations general equilibrium model. It deals with production and consumption processes coevolving with “birth-and-death” processes of involved agents, e.g., region-specific households subdivided into single-year age groups, firms, governments, financial intermediaries, including pension systems and insurance. The production function of the model allows to track incomes expenditures, savings and dissavings of agents, as well as intergenerational and interregional transfers of wealth. The proposed approach combines the actuarial and the economic growth simulation models in a single stochastic optimization model which explicitly and realistically treats the underlying uncertainties with the goal to satisfy reasonable and secure consumption of agents. The design of optimal robust strategies is achieved by an adaptive simulation-based optimization procedure defined by non-smooth risk functions. Numerical solution is discussed.  相似文献

This paper investigates an optimal investment strategy of DC pension plan in a stochastic interest rate and stochastic volatility framework. We apply an affine model including the Cox–Ingersoll–Ross (CIR) model and the Vasicek mode to characterize the interest rate while the stock price is given by the Heston’s stochastic volatility (SV) model. The pension manager can invest in cash, bond and stock in the financial market. Thus, the wealth of the pension fund is influenced by the financial risks in the market and the stochastic contribution from the fund participant. The goal of the fund manager is, coping with the contribution rate, to maximize the expectation of the constant relative risk aversion (CRRA) utility of the terminal value of the pension fund over a guarantee which serves as an annuity after retirement. We first transform the problem into a single investment problem, then derive an explicit solution via the stochastic programming method. Finally, the numerical analysis is given to show the impact of financial parameters on the optimal strategies.  相似文献

We introduce stochastic utilities such that utility of any fixed amount of interest is a stochastic process or random variable. Also, there exist stochastic (or random) subsistence and satiation levels associated with stochastic utilities. Then, we consider optimal consumption, life insurance purchase and investment strategies to maximize the expected utility of consumption, bequest and pension with respect to stochastic utilities. We use the martingale approach to solve the optimization problem in two steps. First, we solve the optimization problem with an equality constraint which requires that the present value of consumption, bequest and pension is equal to the present value of initial wealth and income stream. Second, if the optimization problem is feasible, we obtain the explicit representations of the replicating life insurance purchase and portfolio strategies. As an application of our general results, we consider a family of stochastic utilities which have hyperbolic absolute risk aversion (HARA).  相似文献

This paper investigate a stochastic differential games for DC (defined contribution plans) pension under Vasicek stochastic interest rate. The finance market as the hypothetical counterpart, the investor as pension the leader of game. Our goal is through the game between pension plan investor and financial market, obtain optimal strategies to maximizes the expected utility of the terminal wealth. Under power utility function, by using stochastic control theory, we obtain closed-form solutions for the value function as well as the strategies. Finally, explain the research results in the economic sense, and though numerical calculation given the influence of some parameters on the optimal strategies  相似文献

In this paper, a multi-period stochastic optimization model for solving a problem of optimal selection of a pension fund by a pension plan member is presented. In our model, members of the pension plan are given a possibility to switch periodically between J types of funds with different risk profiles and so actively manage their risk exposure and expected return. Minimization of a multi-period average value-at-risk deviation measure under expected return constraint leads to a large-scale linear program. A theoretical framework and a solution for the case of the pension system of Slovak Republic are presented.  相似文献

This paper considers a positive and increasing pension deficit of a certain pay-as-you-go (PAYG) pension system, and tries to make up for this deficit by using heterogeneous insurance. The positive pension deficit is formulated as a mathematical function in continuous time. The surplus of an appropriate heterogeneous insurance is described by diffusion approximation of a Cramér-Lundberg process. The system of extended Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations under mean-variance criterion is established. The closed-form solution and optimal surplus-multiplier of heterogenous insurance are obtained. Some interpretations further explain the theoretical values of the results.

A continuous time stochastic model is used to study a hybrid pension plan, where both the contribution and benefit levels are adjusted depending on the performance of the plan, with risk sharing between different generations. The pension fund is invested in a risk-free asset and multiple risky assets. The objective is to seek an optimal investment strategy and optimal risk-sharing arrangements for plan trustees and participants so that this proposed hybrid pension system provides adequate and stable income to retirees while adjusting contributions effectively, as well as keeping its sustainability in the long run. These goals are achieved by minimizing the expected discount disutility of intermediate adjustment for both benefits and contributions and that of terminal wealth in finite time horizon. Using the stochastic optimal control approach, closed-form solutions are derived under quadratic loss function and exponential loss function. Numerical analysis is presented to illustrate the sensitivity of the optimal strategies to parameters of the financial market and how the optimal benefit changes with respect to different risk aversions. Through numerical analysis, we find that the optimal strategies do adjust the contributions and retirement benefits according to fund performance and model objectives so the intergenerational risk sharing seem effectively achieved for this collective hybrid pension plan.  相似文献

In the last decade a vast literature on stochastic mortality models has been developed. However, these models are often not directly applicable to insurance portfolios because:
(a) For insurers and pension funds it is more relevant to model mortality rates measured in insured amounts instead of measured in the number of policies.
(b) Often there is not enough insurance portfolio specific mortality data available to fit such stochastic mortality models reliably.
Therefore, in this paper a stochastic model is proposed for portfolio specific mortality experience. Combining this stochastic process with a stochastic country population mortality process leads to stochastic portfolio specific mortality rates, measured in insured amounts. The proposed stochastic process is applied to two insurance portfolios, and the impact on the Value at Risk for longevity risk is quantified. Furthermore, the model can be used to quantify the basis risk that remains when hedging portfolio specific mortality risk with instruments of which the payoff depends on population mortality rates.  相似文献

We study the valuation and hedging of unit-linked life insurance contracts in a setting where mortality intensity is governed by a stochastic process. We focus on model risk arising from different specifications for the mortality intensity. To do so we assume that the mortality intensity is almost surely bounded under the statistical measure. Further, we restrict the equivalent martingale measures and apply the same bounds to the mortality intensity under these measures. For this setting we derive upper and lower price bounds for unit-linked life insurance contracts using stochastic control techniques. We also show that the induced hedging strategies indeed produce a dynamic superhedge and subhedge under the statistical measure in the limit when the number of contracts increases. This justifies the bounds for the mortality intensity under the pricing measures. We provide numerical examples investigating fixed-term, endowment insurance contracts and their combinations including various guarantee features. The pricing partial differential equation for the upper and lower price bounds is solved by finite difference methods. For our contracts and choice of parameters the pricing and hedging is fairly robust with respect to misspecification of the mortality intensity. The model risk resulting from the uncertain mortality intensity is of minor importance.  相似文献

Pension funds in Switzerland are exposed to longevity risk possibly to a greater extent than in many other developed economies. The ground for this is a dearth of financial products to combat longevity risk, with a lack of buy-in and very limited variety of buy-out solutions available. The solutions that do exist frequently come at a very high price and many pension funds are in deficit on a buy-out basis. From our point of view creating an approach for evaluating the longevity risk faced by each pension fund and integrating it into dynamic risk budgeting strategies will help Swiss pension funds better understand the mechanism behind different longevity de-risking solutions and decide on the most suitable as well as affordable solution for them. To develop capital market solutions for longevity hedging strategies it is crucial that both hedgers (pension funds) as well as solution providers are able to quantify the longevity risk in the framework of a holistic risk management and to develop an adequate pricing approach. In this publication we present our stochastic coherent mortality model developed for Swiss pension funds based on the reference population of fifteen countries and discuss the robustness of the forecasts relative to the sample period used to fit the model, biological reasonableness of the forecasts and other modelling parameters as well as possible impact on results. The model has taken into account past single population modelling techniques and allows flexible age effect to capture the spread behaviour introduced by the target population. The augmented terms for the spread function are chosen based on their forecast accuracy and a coherent behaviour is expected in the long term. The idea behind is fairly simple and yields a design with both transparency and robustness. The model usage is not limited to Switzerland.  相似文献

In dynamic optimal consumption–investment problems one typically aims to find an optimal control from the set of adapted processes. This is also the natural starting point in case of a mean-variance objective. In contrast, we solve the optimization problem with the special feature that the consumption rate and the investment proportion are constrained to be deterministic processes. As a result we get rid of a series of unwanted features of the stochastic solution including diffusive consumption, satisfaction points and consistency problems. Deterministic strategies typically appear in unit-linked life insurance contracts, where the life-cycle investment strategy is age dependent but wealth independent. We explain how optimal deterministic strategies can be found numerically and present an example from life insurance where we compare the optimal solution with suboptimal deterministic strategies derived from the stochastic solution.  相似文献

??It is assumed that both an insurance company and a reinsurance company adopt the variance premium principle to collect premiums. Specifically, an insurance company is allowed to investment not only in a domestic risk-free asset and a risky asset, but also in a foreign risky asset. Firstly, we use a geometry Brownian motion to model the exchange rate risk, and assume that the insurance company could control the insurance risk by transferring the insurance business into the reinsurance company. Secondly, the stochastic dynamic programming principle is used to study the optimal investment and reinsurance problems in two situations. The first is a diffusion approximation risk model and the second is a classical risk model. The optimal investment and reinsurance strategies are obtained under these two situations. We also show that the exchange rate risk has a great impact on the insurance company's investment strategies, but has no effect on the reinsurance strategies. Finally, a sensitivity analysis of some parameters is provided.  相似文献

In this work we investigate the optimal proportional reinsurance-investment strategy of an insurance company which wishes to maximize the expected exponential utility of its terminal wealth in a finite time horizon. Our goal is to extend the classical Cramér–Lundberg model introducing a stochastic factor which affects the intensity of the claims arrival process, described by a Cox process, as well as the insurance and reinsurance premia. The financial market is supposed not influenced by the stochastic factor, hence it is independent on the insurance market. Using the classical stochastic control approach based on the Hamilton–Jacobi–Bellman equation we characterize the optimal strategy and provide a verification result for the value function via classical solutions to two backward partial differential equations. Existence and uniqueness of these solutions are discussed. Results under various premium calculation principles are illustrated and a new premium calculation rule is proposed in order to get more realistic strategies and to better fit our stochastic factor model. Finally, numerical simulations are performed to obtain sensitivity analyses.  相似文献

In this paper we model the claim process of financial guarantee insurance, and predict the pure premium and the required amount of risk capital. The data used are from the financial guarantee system of the Finnish statutory pension scheme. The losses in financial guarantee insurance may be devastating during an economic depression (i.e., deep recession). This indicates that the economic business cycle, and in particular depressions, must be taken into account in modelling the claim amounts in financial guarantee insurance. A Markov regime-switching model is used to predict the frequency and severity of future depression periods. The claim amounts are predicted using a transfer function model where the predicted growth rate of the real GNP is an explanatory variable. The pure premium and initial risk reserve are evaluated on the basis of the predictive distribution of claim amounts. Bayesian methods are applied throughout the modelling process. For example, estimation is based on posterior simulation with the Gibbs sampler, and model adequacy is assessed by posterior predictive checking. Simulation results show that the required amount of risk capital is high, even though depressions are an infrequent phenomenon.  相似文献
