N.M.R. and I.R. studies of 1, 1, 1 trifluoroacetone in proton donor solvents

Interactions of 1, 1, 1 trifluoroacetone with proton donor solvents of the type RH [where R=HO, CH₃S, CH₃CH₂CH₂CH₂S, CH₃O, (CH₃)₂N, (C₂H₅)₂N] have been investigated using NMR and infra-red techniques. Evidence of the formation of addition products of the type CF₃.C(OH)R.CH₃ where OH group is hydrogen-bonded with the fluorine of the CF₃ group has been obtained.

It is shown that the Ramsey number r(K2,s 1, K1,n) ≤ n √sn (s 3)/2 o(1) for large n, and r(K2,s 1, K1,n)∈{(q-1)2/s 1,-(q-1)2/s 2},wheren (q-1)2/s-q 2 and q is a prime power such that s|(q - 1).     

Flexible composites, strength, deformation, and fracture processes. 1. Reinforcement structures and tensile strength

Fiber-reinforced flexible composites are extensively used for different kinds of applications, for example, tubes, drive belts, tires, and coated fabrics. Typical for these materials are matrix materials allowing large strain deformation and reinforcement structures allowing bending. Apart from the tensile strength and limited bending stiffness, damage resistance and ductile-brittle transition characteristics are discussed. The tensile strength usually follows the rule of mixture. The mode of fracture and damage resistance, however, strongly depend on penetration of the matrix into the fiber bundles, textile structure, and internal friction. Automorphisms of the semigroup End(K[x 1 , . . . , x n ])

We describe the group G = AutEnd(K[x ₁ , . . . , x _n ]), where K is an arbitrary field. A similar result is obtained also for the automorphism group of the category $ \mathcal{C}{\mathcal{A}^{\circ }} $ of finitely generated free commutative-associative algebras of the variety commutative algebras. This solves two problems posed by B. Plotkin ( [4, Problems 12 and 15]).
