We construct an example of a compact operator of the third kind in L p (p ≠ 2) not similar to any integral operator of the first or second kind. This example shows that not every linear equation of the third kind in L p (p ≠ 2) can be reduced by an invertible continuous linear change to an equivalent integral equation of the first or second kind. The example also proves the impossibility of a characterization of integral and Carleman integral operators in L p (p ≠ 2) in terms of the spectrum and its components.  相似文献

The theory of ideals of linear operators is well developed and has a lot of applications in theory and practise. The purpose of this paper is to give a first idea of a similar theory for bounded (nonlinear) operators. In view of applications we will not give an abstract (perhaps general nonsense) theory, but an example of a class λp of bounded operators with a structure similar to an L-module(L represents the class of all linear operators between Banach spaces), and applications to projection methods for solving equations with λp-type operators.  相似文献

If 0 < p < 1 andT: Lp(0,1) →E is a continuous linear operator into a topological vector space, there is an infinite-dimensional subspaceX ofL p on whichT is an isomorphism; thus there are no compact operators onL p . Results of this type are proved for general non-locally convex Orlicz spaces.  相似文献

We introduce the notion of Lipschitz compact (weakly compact, finite-rank, approximable) operators from a pointed metric space X into a Banach space E. We prove that every strongly Lipschitz p-nuclear operator is Lipschitz compact and every strongly Lipschitz p-integral operator is Lipschitz weakly compact. A theory of Lipschitz compact (weakly compact, finite-rank) operators which closely parallels the theory for linear operators is developed. In terms of the Lipschitz transpose map of a Lipschitz operator, we state Lipschitz versions of Schauder type theorems on the (weak) compactness of the adjoint of a (weakly) compact linear operator.  相似文献

New applications of cotype to the theory of absolutely summing linear operators between Banach spaces are proved in this paper. Among other consequences we extend/complement some classical results of Bennett (Duke Math J 44:603?C639, 1977) on the existence of non-absolutely summing operators between ? p spaces and of Davis and Johnson (Stud Math 51:81?C85, 1974) on the existence of compact non-absolutely summing linear operators. We also point out that some of our results are sharp.  相似文献

In this work, we study the existence of bounded and almost automorphic solutions for evolution equations in Banach spaces. We suppose that the linear part is the infinitesimal generator of a compact C0-semigroup of bounded linear operators and the nonlinear part is an almost automorphic function with respect to the second argument. We give sufficient conditions ensuring the existence of an almost automorphic solution when there is at least one bounded solution on R+. We use the subvariant functional method to show that every K-minimizing mild solution is compact almost automorphic. Applications are provided for both heat and wave equations with nonlinearities in several functional spaces.  相似文献

We present a criterion for an operator on L p to belong to the set I p of all sums of integral operators on L p and multiplication operators by functions in L . We describe the closure of I p in the operator norm. We prove that the set L p,1 of all sums of multiplication operators and operators on L p mapping the unit ball of L p into compact subsets of L 1 is a Banach algebra.  相似文献

We consider linear functional equations of the third kind in L 2 with arbitrary measurable coefficients and unbounded integral operators with kernels satisfying broad conditions. We propose methods for reducing these equations by linear continuous invertible transformations either to equivalent integral equations of the first kind with nuclear operators or to equivalent integral equations of the second kind with quasidegenerate Carleman kernels. To the integral equations obtained after the reduction, one can apply various exact and approximate methods of solution; in particular, the two approximate methods developed in this article.  相似文献

Under consideration are the functional equations of the first, second, and third kind with operators in wide classes of linear continuous operators in L 2 containing all integral operators. We propose methods for reducing these equations by linear invertible changes either to linear integral equations of the first kind with nuclear operators or to equivalent linear integral equations of the second kind with quasidegenerate Carleman kernels. Some various approximate methods of solution are applicable to the so-obtained integral equations.  相似文献

The problem of getting effective Fredholm conditions for operators with bihomogeneous kernels reduces to the question of invertibility for families of operators with homogeneous kernels and to the calculation of homotopy invariants for spaces of Fredholm and invertible operators of that type. The purpose of the present paper is to study integral operators with homogeneous kernels of compact type in L p (? n ), 1 < p < +??. The classes of homotopy equivalence for the spaces of Fredholm and invertible operators in the C*-algebra of pair operators with homogeneous kernels of compact type are calculated by means of operator K-theory.  相似文献

In this note we prove that an estimate due to Ivanov and Pichugov, for positive linear convolution operators in L p spaces, can be extended to a class of positive linear operators which are not of convolution type.  相似文献

We study the position of compact operators in the space of all continuous linear operators and its subspaces in terms of ideals. One of our main results states that for Banach spaces X and Y the subspace of all compact operators K (X, Y) is an M(r 1 r 2, s 1 s 2)-ideal in the space of all continuous linear operators L(X, Y) whenever K (X,X) and K (Y, Y) are M(r 1, s 1)- and M(r 2, s 2)-ideals in L(X,X) and L(Y, Y), respectively, with r 1 + s 1/2 > 1 and r 2 +s 2/2 > 1. We also prove that the M(r, s)-ideal K (X, Y ) in L(X, Y ) is separably determined. Among others, our results complete and improve some well-known results on M-ideals.  相似文献

We consider pseudodifferential operators with operator valued symbols a(x,ξ) acting on a UMD Banach space X. Assuming some regularity of Hölder type in x and Mihlin type in ξ we prove L p (? n ;X) boundedness of such operators. This result is then applied to the study of L p -maximal regularity for nonautonomous parabolic evolution equations.  相似文献

In the space L p (? n ), 1 < p < ??, we study a new wide class of integral operators with anisotropically homogeneous kernels. We obtain sufficient conditions for the boundedness of operators from this class. We consider the Banach algebra generated by operators with anisotropically homogeneous kernels of compact type and multiplicatively slowly oscillating coefficients. We establish a relationship between this algebra and multidimensional convolution operators, and construct a symbolic calculus for it. We also obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for the Fredholm property of operators from this algebra.  相似文献

Let E and F be Banach spaces. We generalize several known results concerning the nature of the compact operators K(E, F) as a subspace of the bounded linear operators L(E, F). The main results are: (1) If E is a c0 or lp (1 < p < ∞) direct sum of a family of finite dimensional Banach spaces, then each bounded linear functional on K(E) admits a unique norm preserving extension to L(E). (2) If F has the bounded approximation property there is an isomorphism of L(E, F) into K(E, F)7 such that its restriction to K(E, F) is the canonical injection. (3) If E is infinite dimensional and if F contains a complemented copy of c0, K(E, F) is not complemented in L(E, F).  相似文献

This is a study of compactness in (a) spaces Kb(X, Y) of compact linear operators, (b) injective tensor products X \?bo? Y, and (c) spaces Lc(X, Y) of continuous linear operators, and its various relationships with equicontinuity and collective compactness. Among the applications is a result on factoring compact sets of compact operators compactly and uniformly through one and the same reflexive Banach space.  相似文献

Let G be a compact abelian group and let L(G) be the space of measurable functions on G, equipped with the topology of convergence in measure. The only continuous translation-invariant linear operators on L(G) are the finite linear combinations of the translations themselves.  相似文献

This is the third part of a series of four articles on weighted norm inequalities, off-diagonal estimates and elliptic operators. For L in some class of elliptic operators, we study weighted norm Lp inequalities for singular “non-integral” operators arising from L; those are the operators φ(L) for bounded holomorphic functions φ, the Riesz transforms ∇L−1/2 (or (−Δ)1/2L−1/2) and its inverse L1/2(−Δ)−1/2, some quadratic functionals gL and GL of Littlewood-Paley-Stein type and also some vector-valued inequalities such as the ones involved for maximal Lp-regularity. For each, we obtain sharp or nearly sharp ranges of p using the general theory for boundedness of Part I and the off-diagonal estimates of Part II. We also obtain commutator results with BMO functions.  相似文献

Compact and weakly compact elements of the group algebra L 1 (G) of a locally compact group G, have been considered by a number of authors. In these investigations it has been shown that, if G is non-compact, then the only weakly compact element of L 1 (G ) is zero. Conversely, if G is compact, then every element of L 1 (G) is compact. For 1<p<∞, let PM p (G)and PF p (G) denote the closure of L 1 (G), considered as an algebra of convolution operators on L p (G), with respect to the weak operator topology and the norm topology, respectively, in B(L p (G), b), the bounded linear operators on L 1 (G). We study the question of characterizing compact and weakly compact elements of the algebras PM p (G)and PF p (G).  相似文献

We study problems of interpolation of positive linear operators in couples of ordered Banach spaces. From this viewpoint, we study couples of noncommutative spaces L 1, L associated with weights and traces on von Neumann algebras.  相似文献
