We construct a bivariant Chern character with values in Jones-Kassel's bivariant cyclic cohomology. This is done forK-theoretic objects such as idempotents, bimodules, quasi-homomorphisms à la Cuntz and extensions of algebras.

In this paper we construct a bivariant Chern character for the equivariant KK-theory of a totally disconnected group with values in bivariant equivariant cohomology in the sense of Baum and Schneider. We prove in particular that the complexified left hand side of the Baum–Connes conjecture for a totally disconnected group is isomorphic to cosheaf homology. Moreover, it is shown that our transformation extends the Chern character defined by Baum and Schneider for profinite groups.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a family of Dirac-type operators on fibration PB equivariant with respect to an action of an étale groupoid. Such a family defines an element in the bivariant K theory. We compute the action of the bivariant Chern character of this element on the image of Connes' map Φ in the cyclic cohomology. A particular case of this result is Connes' index theorem for étale groupoids [A. Connes, Noncommutative Geometry, Academic Press, 1994] in the case of fibrations.  相似文献

For the action of a locally compact and totally disconnected group G on a pair of locally compact spaces X and Y we construct, by sheaf theoretic means, a new equivariant and bivariant cohomology theory. If we take for the first space Y an universal proper G-action then we obtain for the second space its delocalized equivariant homology. This is in exact formal analogy to the definition of equivariant K-homology by Baum, Connes, Higson starting from the bivariant equivariant Kasparov KK-theory. Under certain basic finiteness conditions on the first space Y we conjecture the existence of a Chern character from the equivariant Kasparov KK-theory of Y and X into our cohomology theory made two-periodic which becomes an isomorphism upon tensoring the KK-theory with the complex numbers. This conjecture is proved for profinite groups G. An essential role in our construction is played by a bivariant version of Segal localization which we establish for KK-theory.  相似文献

W. Fulton and R. MacPherson posed the problem of unique existence of a bivariant Chern class—a Grothendieck transformation from the bivariant theory F of constructible functions to the bivariant homology theory H. J.-P. Brasselet proved the existence of a bivariant Chern class in the category of embeddable analytic varieties with cellular morphisms. In general however, the problem of uniqueness is still unresolved. In this paper we show that for morphisms having nonsingular target varieties there exists another bivariant theory of constructible functions and a unique bivariant Chern class γ: . We define a Chern character for p-summable quasihomomorphisms. We study its properties and show that it is compatible with the analytic index. The results are similar to Connes' results on the Chern character on K-homology but the methods are different. This solves most of a problem of Connes.  相似文献

It has been shown by Nistor (Doc Math J DMV 2:263–295, 1997) that given any extension of associative algebras over \mathbb C{\mathbb C}, the connecting morphism in periodic cyclic homology is compatible, under the Chern–Connes character, with the index morphism in lower algebraic K-theory. The proof relies on the abstract properties of cyclic theory, essentially excision, which does not provide explicit formulas a priori. Avoiding the use of excision, we explain in this article how to get explicit formulas in a wide range of situations. The method is connected to the renormalization procedure introduced in our previous work on the bivariant Chern character for quasihomomorphisms Perrot (J Geom Phys 60:1441–1473, 2010), leading to “local” index formulas in the sense of non-commutative geometry. We illustrate these principles with the example of the classical family index theorem: we find that the characteristic numbers of the index bundle associated to a family of elliptic pseudodifferential operators are expressed in terms of the (fiberwise) Wodzicki residue.  相似文献

The main result of this paper is the evaluation of kernels for the Chern character and the universal Karoubi classes of nuclear C*-algebras. It is shown that the kernel of the Chern character coincides with the subgroup of infinitely small elements of the K 0-group and the kernel of the universal Karoubi classes coincides with the subgroup of approximately scalar elements of the K 0-group. The convolution product is an important tool in the geometric representation theory. Ginzburg constructed the bivariant Chern class operation from a certain convolution algebra of Lagrangian cycles to the convolution algebra of Borel-Moore homology. In this paper we give some remarks on the Ginzburg bivariant Chern classes.

The well known isomorphism relating the rational algebraic K-theory groups and the rational motivic cohomology groups of a smooth variety over a field of characteristic 0 is shown to be realized by a map (the Segre map) of infinite loop spaces. Moreover, the associated Chern character map on rational homotopy groups is shown to be a ring isomorphism. A technique is introduced that establishes a useful general criterion for a natural transformation of functors on quasi-projective complex varieties to induce a homotopy equivalence of semi-topological singular complexes. Since semi-topological K-theory and morphic cohomology can be formulated as the semi-topological singular complexes associated to algebraic K-theory and motivic cohomology, this criterion provides a rational isomorphism between the semi-topological K-theory groups and the morphic cohomology groups of a smooth complex variety. Consequences include a Riemann-Roch theorem for the Chern character on semi-topological K-theory and an interpretation of the topological filtration on singular cohomology groups in K-theoretic terms.  相似文献

The purpose of this article is to show that the bivariant algebraic A-cobordism groups considered previously by the author are independent of the chosen base ring A. This result is proven by analyzing the bivariant ideal generated by the so called snc relations, and, while the alternative characterization we obtain for this ideal is interesting by itself because of its simplicity, perhaps more importantly it allows us to easily extend the definition of bivariant algebraic cobordism to divisorial Noetherian derived schemes of finite Krull dimension. As an interesting corollary, we define the corresponding homology theory called algebraic bordism. We also generalize projective bundle formula, the theory of Chern classes, the Conner–Floyd theorem and the Grothendieck–Riemann–Roch theorem to this setting. The general definitions of bivariant cobordism are based on the careful study of ample line bundles and quasi-projective morphisms of Noetherian derived schemes, also undertaken in this work.  相似文献

This is the second part of our work on the intersection theory of algebraic stacks. The main results here are the following. We provide an intersection pairing for all smooth Artin stacks (locally of finite type over a field) which we show reduces to the known intersection pairing on the Chow groups of smooth Deligne–Mumford stacks of finite type over a field as well as on the Chow groups of quotient stacks associated to actions of linear algebraic groups on smooth quasi-projective schemes modulo torsion. The former involves also showing the existence of Adams operations on the rational étale K-theory of all smooth Deligne–Mumford stacks of finite type over a field. In addition, we show that our definition of the higher Chow groups is intrinsic to the stack for all smooth stacks and also stacks of finite type over the given field. Next we establish the existence of Chern classes and Chern character for Artin stacks with values in our Chow groups and extend these to higher Chern classes and a higher Chern character for perfect complexes on an algebraic stack, taking values in cohomology theories of algebraic stacks that are defined with respect to complexes of sheaves on a big smooth site. As a by-product of our techniques we also provide an extension of higher intersection theory to all schemes locally of finite type over a field. As the higher cycle complex, by itself, is a bit difficult to handle, the stronger results like contravariance for arbitrary maps between smooth stacks and the intersection pairing for smooth stacks are established by comparison with motivic cohomology.  相似文献

We give an axiomatic characterization of maps from algebraic K-theory. The results apply to a large class of maps from algebraic K-theory to any suitable cohomology theory or to algebraic K-theory. In particular, we obtain comparison theorems for the Chern character and Chern classes and for the Adams operations and λ-operations on higher algebraic K-theory. We show that the Adams operations and λ-operations defined by Grayson agree with the ones defined by Gillet and Soulé.  相似文献

W. Fulton and R. MacPherson have introduced a notion unifying both covariant and contravariant theories, which they called a Bivariant Theory. A transformation between two bivariant theories is called a Grothendieck transformation. The Grothendieck transformation induces natural transformations for covariant theories and contravariant theories. In this paper we show some general uniqueness and existence theorems on Grothendieck transformations associated to given natural transformations of covariant theories. Our guiding or typical model is MacPherson’s Chern class transformation c:FH. The existence of a corresponding bivariant Chern class γ:FH was conjectured by W. Fulton and R. MacPherson, and was proved by J.-P. Brasselet under certain conditions.  相似文献

A bivariant character extending the JLO formula is used to study the index of elliptic operators with C *-algebra bundle coefficients. The higher -index theorem of Connes--Moscovici is then recovered by the heat equation approach. The bivariant -invariant for Dirac operators is also introduced by transgressing the bivariant character.  相似文献

For a morphism whose target variety is nonsingular, the Chern–Schwartz–MacPherson class homomorphism followed by capping with the pullback of the Segre class of the target variety is called the Ginzburg–Chern class. In this paper, using the Verdier–Riemann–Roch for Chern Class, we show that the correspondence assigning to a bivariant constructible function on any morphism with nonsingular target variety the Ginzburg–Chern class of it is the unique Grothendieck transformation satisfying the 'normalization condition' that for morphisms to a point it becomes the Chern–Schwartz–MacPherson class homomorphism, except for that the bivariant homology pullback is considered only for a smooth morphism.  相似文献

A families index theorem in K-theory is given for the setting of Atiyah, Patodi, and Singer of a family of Dirac operators with spectral boundary condition. This result is deduced from such a K-theory index theorem for the calculus of cusp, or more generally fibred-cusp, pseudodifferential operators on the fibres (with boundary) of a fibration; a version of Poincaré duality is also shown in this setting, identifying the stable Fredholm families with elements of a bivariant K-group. The extension of Kasparovs bivariant K-theory to inverse limits of C * -algebras admits exact Puppe sequences in both variables. Two exact sequences generalizing Milnor's lim-lim1 sequences are established. For CW complexes the extended K-theory is representable K-theory.  相似文献

Kasparov's bivariant K-theory is extended to inverse limits of C *-algebras. It is shown how to define the intersection product for algebras satisfying a separability condition and the properties of the product are explained. The Bott periodicity theorem is proved.  相似文献

We characterize all equivariant odd spectral triples for the quantum SU(2) group acting on its L 2-space and having a nontrivial Chern character. It is shown that the dimension of an equivariant spectral triple is at least three, and given any element of the K-homology group of SUq(2), there is an equivariant odd spectral triple of dimension 3 inducing that element. The method employed to get equivariant spectral triples in the quantum case is then used for classical SU(2), and we prove that for p < 4, there does not exist any equivariant spectral triple with nontrivial K-homology class and dimension p acting on the L 2-space.The first author would like to acknowledge support from the National Board of Higher Mathematics, India.  相似文献
