Slurry sampling electrothermal atomic absorption (SS ETAAS) was applied to the development of a sensitive and precise method for selenium determination in infant foods without sample pretreatment. Suspensions prepared in a medium containing 0.1% Triton X-100, 0.5 or 5% v/v concentrated HNO3 were directly introduced into the furnace. The accuracy of the procedure was confirmed by analysis of a standard reference material and comparison with hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometric (HGAAS) procedure. The characteristic mass is 44 pg and detection limit 0.43 μg·l−1.  相似文献

An approach is proposed to the determination of selenium and cadmium dopants in new nanocomposites based on zinc and indium oxides. The approach is based on a combination of highly efficient high resolution continuous source electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) for the analysis of suspensions and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry for the analysis of solutions. A procedure is developed for the determination of Se and Cd dopants and matrix components based on Zn and In in nanocomposite solutions by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry. Stabilizing agents for the preparation of suspensions are studied for the ETAAS analysis of powders without their decomposition. The results of determination of CdSe dopants by high resolution ETAAS are validated by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry.  相似文献

Analytical problems in determination of arsenic in marine tissues are addressed. Procedures for the determination of total As in solubilized or extracted tissues with tetramethylammonium hydroxide and methanol have been elaborated. Several typical lyophilized tissues were used: NIST SRM 1566a ‘Oyster Tissue’, BCR-60 CRM ‘Trace Elements in an Aquatic Plant (Lagarosiphon major)’, BCR-627 ‘Forms of As in Tuna Fish Tissue’, IAEA-140/TM ‘Sea Plant Homogenate’, NRCC DOLT-1 ‘Dogfish Liver’ and two representatives of the Black Sea biota, Mediterranean mussel (Mytilus galloprovincialis) and Brown algae (Cystoseira barbata). Tissues (nominal 0.3 g) were extracted in tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAH) 1 ml of 25% m/v TMAH and 2 ml of water) or 5 ml of aqueous 80% v/v methanol (MeOH) in closed vessels in a microwave oven at 50 °C for 30 min. Arsenic in solubilized or extracted tissues was determined by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) after appropriate dilution (nominally to 25 ml, with further dilution as required) under optimal instrumental parameters (pyrolysis temperature 900 °C and atomization temperature 2100 °C) with 1.5 μg Pd as modifier on Zr–Ir treated platform. Platforms have been pre-treated with 2.7 μmol of zirconium and then with 0.10 μmol of iridium which served as a permanent chemical modifier in direct ETAAS measurements and as an efficient hydride sequestration medium in flow injection hydride generation (FI-HG)–ETAAS. TMAH and methanol extract 96–108% and 51–100% of As from CRMs. Various calibration approaches have been considered and critically evaluated. The effect of species-dependent slope of calibration graph or standard additions plot for total As determination in a sample comprising of several individual As species with different ETAAS behavior has been considered as a kind of ‘intrinsic element speciation interference’ that cannot be completely overcome by standard additions technique. Calibration by means of CRMs has given only semi-quantitative results. The limits of detection (3σ) were in the range 0.5–1.2 mg kg− 1 As dry weight (wt.) for direct ETAAS analysis of extracts in both TMAH and MeOH. Within-run precision (RSD%) was 5–15% and 7–20% for TMAH and MeOH extracts at As levels 4–50 mg kg− 1 dry wt., respectively.  相似文献

An electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) with polarized Zeeman background correction was used for determining selenium in petroleum refinery aqueous streams containing large amounts of volatile unknown organic compounds. Some parameters that might affect the measurement were investigated such as the amount of matrix modifier added, the temperature program and the calibration mode employed. Obtained results indicate that, in this kind of sample, selenium must be determined by standard addition procedure with a careful control of the dry step temperature and ramp pattern. Also, the results show that 2.5 μg of Pd must be added as matrix modifier to stabilize the analyte in the range of 2-20 ng Se. In order to evaluate the accuracy of the procedure, selenium was determined in 18 samples by ETAAS and hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometry (HGAAS) (as reference methodology). In both techniques the results agreed well.  相似文献

The method of incorporating in-situ pre-concentration technique via multiple injections followed by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) is described for the direct determination of lead at sub-ppb levels in secondary coolants of pressurized water reactor (PWR). Prior to ETAAS measurement, water samples were concentrated by means of multiple injections (9×90 ml) and evaporation in a pyrocoated graphite tube. Optimization of the in-situ pre-concentration via multiple injections with ETAAS analysis was investigated. The feasibility of the proposed method was tested for direct determination of lead in secondary coolants of pressurized water reactor. A SRM 1643c certified reference water sample has been used for quality control. The result are in good agreement with the certified value. By the use of 0.81 ml sample volume 0.012 ppb detection limit was obtained.  相似文献

Selenium is essential for many aspects of human health and, thus, the object of intensive medical research. This demands the use of analytical techniques capable of analysing selenium at low concentrations with high accuracy in widespread matrices and sometimes smallest sample amounts. In connection with the increasing importance of selenium, there is a need for rapid and simple on-site (or near-to-site) selenium analysis in food basics like wheat at processing and production sites, as well as for the analysis of this element in dietary supplements. Common analytical techniques like electrothermal atomic absorption spectroscopy (ETAAS) and inductively-coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) are capable of analysing selenium in medical samples with detection limits in the range from 0.02 to 0.7 μg/l. Since in many cases less complicated and expensive analytical techniques are required, TXRF has been tested regarding its suitability for selenium analysis in different medical, food basics and dietary supplement samples applying most simple sample preparation techniques. The reported results indicate that the accurate analysis of selenium in all sample types is possible. The detection limits of TXRF are in the range from 7 to 12 μg/l for medical samples and 0.1 to 0.2 mg/kg for food basics and dietary supplements. Although this sensitivity is low compared to established techniques, it is sufficient for the physiological concentrations of selenium in the investigated samples.  相似文献

The use of ammonium molybdate to minimize the phosphate interference when measuring selenium by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) with deuterium background correction was evaluated. Ammonium molybdate did not produce a selenium thermal stabilization; however, the presence of ammonium molybdate decreased the phosphate interference. The study was carried out with mussel acid digests and mussel slurries. Pd–Mg(NO3)2 was used as a chemical modifier at optimum concentrations of 300 and 250 mg l−1, respectively, yielding optimum pyrolysis and atomization temperatures of 1200 and 2100 °C, respectively. A yellow solid (ammonium molybdophosphate) was obtained when adding ammonium molybdate to mussel acid digest solutions. This precipitate can be removed after centrifugation prior to ETAAS determination. Additionally, studies on the sampling of the solid ammonium molybdophosphate (AMP) together with the liquid phase, as a slurry, were also developed. The volatilization of the solid AMP was not reached at temperatures lower than 2500 °C. By this way, phosphate, as AMP, is not present in the vapor phase at the atomization temperature (2100 °C), yielding a reduction of the spectral interference by phosphate. The proposed method was validated analyzing three reference materials of marine origin (DORM-1, DOLT-1 and TORT-1). Good agreement with the certified selenium contents was reached for all cases.  相似文献

A simple and robust flow injection system which permits low sample and reagent consumption is described for rapid and reliable hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometric determination of selenium, arsenic and bismuth. The system, which composed of one peristaltic pump and one four channel solenoid valve, used water as the carrier streams for both sample and NaBH4 solution. Rapid off-line pre-reduction of the analytes was achieved by using hydroxylamine hydrochloride for selenium and a mixture of potassium iodide and ascorbic acid for arsenic and bismuth. Transition metal interference was eliminated with the addition of thiourea and EDTA into the NaBH4 solution and significant sensitivity enhancement was observed for selenium in the presence of thiourea in the reductant solution. Under optimised conditions, the method achieved detection limits of 0.2 ng mL−1 for Se, 0.5 ng mL−1 for As and 0.3 ng mL−1 for Bi. The method was very reproducible, achieving relative standard deviations of 6.3% for Se, 3.6% for As and 4.7% for Bi, and has a sample throughput of 360 h−1. Successful application of the method to the quantification of selenium, arsenic and bismuth in a certified reference river sediment sample is reported.  相似文献

A method for the rapid determination of selenium is reported. It is based on the injection of selenium sample into a stream of KI and subsequent measurement of the increase of the absorption at 290 nm due to the formation of I3. A Doehlert matrix was applied for the determination of the optimal working conditions. With the developed method, a linear calibration curve from 1 to 10 ppm was obtained. For the analysis of semiconducting thin layers of CuInSe2 (CIS), a cationic resin was added to the sample solution in order to eliminate the effect of copper and indium on the absorbance values. With the developed procedure a sample throughput of 36 samples per hour and a relative standard deviation 1.1% was achieved.  相似文献

A new procedure for the determination of inorganic arsenic (III,V) and antimony (III,V) in water samples by dispersive liquid–liquid micro extraction separation and electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) is presented. At pH 1, As(III) and Sb(III) are complexed with ammonium pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate and extracted into the fine droplets formed when mixing carbon tetrachloride (extraction solvent), methanol (disperser solvent) and the sample solution. After extraction, the phases are separated by centrifugation, and As(III) and Sb(III) are determined in the organic phase. As(V) and Sb(V) remain in the aqueous layer. Total inorganic As and Sb are determined after the reduction of the pentavalent forms with sodium thiosulphate. As(V) and Sb(V) are calculated by difference. The detection limits are 0.01 and 0.05 µg L− 1 for As(III) and Sb(III), respectively, with an enrichment factor of 115. The relative standard deviation is in the 2.9–4.5% range. The procedure has been applied to the speciation of inorganic As and Sb in bottled, tap and sea water samples with satisfactory results.  相似文献

Toenails and fingernails are routinely used to estimate selenium status in epidemiological studies; however, literature validating nail selenium concentration as a surrogate for critical organs is limited. In this study diets of intact male dogs were selenium supplemented at two physiological levels (3 and 6 μg/kg/day) in two different forms, selenomethionine and selenium-enriched bioformed yeast. The selenium-adequate basal diet consumed by the treatment and control groups during the 4-week run-in period and throughout the trial contained 0.3 ppm selenium. After 7 months the dogs in the two treatment groups and the control group were euthanized. Representative tissue samples from prostate, brain, liver, heart and skeletal muscle were collected, rinsed and frozen. Toenail clippings from multiple toes were also collected. Selenium was determined by neutron activation analysis using Se77m (half life = 17.4 s) at the University of Missouri Research Reactor Center. NIST SRM 1577, Bovine Liver was analyzed as a quality control. The analysts were blinded to control and treatment group assignments. As expected, tissue selenium levels increased proportionally with supplementation. A slightly greater increase in tissue selenium was observed for the purified selenomethionine compared to the bioformed yeast; however this trend was significant only for brain tissue. Toenail selenium concentrations and tissue selenium were highly correlated (p < 0.003) with Pearson coefficients of 0.759 (skeletal muscle), 0.745 (heart), 0.729 (brain), 0.723 (prostate), and 0.632 (liver). The toenail biologic monitor accurately assesses selenium status in skeletal muscle, heart, brain, prostate, and liver in the canine model.  相似文献

A procedure was developed for the selective determination of Pd in environmental aquatic solutions. The method is based on a preliminary microwave-assisted UV-digestion for the degradation of dissolved organic material, and the subsequent determination of Pd using a recently presented enrichment procedure with ETAAS detection. Due to the simultaneous use of microwave and UV irradiation only extremely small quantities of hydrogen peroxide were necessary to yield a quantitative degradation of interfering organic ligands. Thus the on-line pre-concentration of Pd in the digested samples using the complexing agent N,N-diethyl-N′-benzoylthiourea was possible without any further sample pre-treatment. Using a sample volume of 1.57 ml for FI-ETAAS analysis a limit of detection of 15 ng l−1 was obtained for the combined procedure, with a relative standard deviation being not more than 4.9%. The method was applied to quantify the water-soluble fraction of Pd in urban road dust. Extractions with a rain sample of pH 5.9 revealed that an average of 2.2% (n = 8) of the total Pd present in urban road dust was water soluble.  相似文献

The comparative determination of barium, copper, iron, lead and zinc in tea leaf samples by two atomic spectrometric techniques is reported. At first, slurry sampling electrothermal atomization atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) was applied. The results of Ba and Pb determination were calculated using the method of standard additions, and results of Cu, Fe and Zn from the calibration graphs based on aqueous standards. These results were compared with the results obtained after microwave-assisted wet (nitric+hydrochloric+hydrofluoric acids) digestion in closed vessels followed by inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometric (ICP-AES) determination with the calibration by means of aqueous standards. The exception was lead determined after a wet digestion procedure by ETAAS. The accuracy of the studied methods was checked by the use of the certified reference material Tea GBW-07605. The recoveries of the analytes varied in the range from 91 to 99% for slurry sampling ETAAS, and from 92.5 to 102% for liquid sampling ICP-AES. The advantages of slurry sampling ETAAS method are simplicity of sample preparation and very good sensitivity. Slurry sampling ETAAS method is relatively fast but if several elements must be determined in one sample, the time of the whole microwave-assisted digestion procedure and ICP-AES determination will be shorter. However, worse detection limits of ICP-AES must also be taken into the consideration in a case of some analytes.  相似文献

In this work, for the first time, a rapid, simple and sensitive microextraction procedure is demonstrated for the matrix separation, preconcentration and determination of inorganic selenium species in water samples using an electrochemically controlled in-tube solid phase microextraction (EC-in-tube SPME) followed by hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometry (HG-AAS). In this approach, in which EC-in-tube SPME and HG-AAS system were combined, the total analysis time, was decreased and the accuracy, repeatability and sensitivity were increased. In addition, to increases extraction efficiency, a novel nanostructured composite coating consisting of polypyrrole (PPy) doped with ethyleneglycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) was prepared on the inner surface of a stainless-steel tube by a facile electrodeposition method. To evaluate the offered setup and the new PPy-EGDMA coating, it was used to extract inorganic selenium species in water samples. Extraction of inorganic selenium species was carried out by applying a positive potential through the inner surface of coated in-tube under flow conditions. Under the optimized conditions, selenium was detected in amounts as small as 4.0 parts per trillion. The method showed good linearity in the range of 0.012–200 ng mL−1, with coefficients of determination better than 0.9996. The intra- and inter-assay precisions (RSD%, n = 5) were in the range of 2.0–2.5% and 2.7–3.2%, respectively. The validated method was successfully applied for the analysis of inorganic selenium species in some water samples and satisfactory results were obtained.  相似文献

A simple and rapid dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction procedure based on an ionic liquid (IL-DLLME) was developed for selective determination of cobalt (Co) with electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) detection. Cobalt was initially complexed with 1-nitroso-2-naphtol (1N2N) reagent at pH 4.0. The IL-DLLME procedure was then performed by using a few microliters of the room temperature ionic liquid (RTIL) 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate [C6mim][PF6] as extractant while methanol was the dispersant solvent. After microextraction procedure, the Co-enriched RTIL phase was solubilized in methanol and directly injected into the graphite furnace. The effect of several variables on Co-1N2N complex formation, extraction with the dispersed RTIL phase, and analyte detection with ETAAS, was carefully studied in this work. An enrichment factor of 120 was obtained with only 6 mL of sample solution and under optimal experimental conditions. The resultant limit of detection (LOD) was 3.8 ng L−1, while the relative standard deviation (RSD) was 3.4% (at 1 μg L−1 Co level and n = 10), calculated from the peak height of absorbance signals. The accuracy of the proposed methodology was tested by analysis of a certified reference material. The method was successfully applied for the determination of Co in environmental and biological samples.  相似文献

A method is proposed for the determination of low concentrations of Ti (< 2 microg g(-1)) in polypropylene in presence of Al and Mg by ETAAS after elimination of the polymer matrix and Si. The optimum instrumental conditions for the determination of Ti are presented. Interferences of Al and Mg in the determination of Ti and some necessary precautions providing better accuracy and precision for the determination of Ti by ETAAS are discussed. A simple procedure for sample preparation is proposed. The detection limit of the method is 12 ng g(-1). The method developed has been applied to real polypropylene samples.  相似文献

Selenium daily intake was determined for two small groups of the Portuguese population, based on the analysis of duplicate diet portions. The total amount of food ingested during a day was collected for 18 workers of the Technological and Nuclear Institute (ITN-Sacavém) and for 6 females of Reguengos de Monsaraz, a small town in the south-eastern hinterland. The average selenium daily intake was 43 ± 20 and 32 ± 13 μg per person, respectively, both lower than the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) of 55 μg day−1. Selenium in diet samples was determined by replicate sample neutron activation analysis (RSINAA). The method was considered accurate for the selenium determination.  相似文献

The comparative determination of lead in plant samples by two atomic spectrometric techniques is reported. At first, slurry sampling electrothermal atomisation atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) was applied. The results obtained were compared with those found after a wet digestion procedure by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) or ETAAS. The accuracy of the studied methods was checked using a certified reference material (CL???1 CRM, Cabbage Leaves). The recovery of lead was 90% for slurry sampling ETAAS, and 86.6% for liquid sampling ETAAS. The advantages of the slurry sampling ETAAS method are the simplicity of sample preparation and very good sensitivity.  相似文献

Determination of cadmium in urine by ETAAS suffers from severe interferences deteriorating the precision and accuracy of the analysis. Electrodeposition step prior to ETAAS allows to avoid interferences and makes cadmium determination possible even at ultratrace levels. The proposed procedures involve electrolytic deposition of cadmium from acidified urine on previously electrolytically deposited palladium film on a graphite atomizer tube, followed by removal of residual solution, pyrolysis and atomization. Both electrodeposition processes take place in a drop of the respective solution (palladium nitrate modifier and acidified urine, respectively), when Pt/Ir dosing capillary serves as an anode and the graphite tube represents a cathode. The voltage is held at −3.0 V. Matrix removal is then accomplished by withdrawal of the depleted sample solution from the tube (procedure A) or the same but followed by rinsing of the deposit with 0.2 mol l−1 HNO3 (procedure B). The accuracy of both procedures was verified by recovery test. Detection limits 0.025 and 0.030 μg Cd/l of urine were achieved for A and B procedures, respectively. Both procedures are time consuming. The measurement cycle represents 5 and 7 min for A and B procedures, respectively.  相似文献

A method has been developed for the determination of Al, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mg, Mn, Ni, Sb, Sn and Zn at trace levels in high purity di-boron trioxide using ETAAS. The boron trioxide matrix was eliminated as trimethyl borate ester in a multiplex vapor phase matrix extraction (MVPME) device using a mixture of glycerol and methanol. In this MVPME device, in situ reagent purification, sample digestion and simultaneous matrix elimination were achieved by a single step in closed condition, which in combined effect reduce the process blanks. The matrix extraction procedure allows determination of trace elemental impurities by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) with fast furnace analysis (without an ashing step and modifier) and calibration against aqueous standards. The performance and accuracy of the vapor phase matrix elimination technique are compared to those of suprapur grade hydrofluoric acid solution in two ways; (i) matrix separation as BF3 over hot plate and (ii) in situ matrix elimination inside graphite furnaces. The method detection limits calculated from blank samples are in the range of 0.5 (Ni) and 2.9 (Al) ng g−1. Thus the MVPME-based sample preparation approach is well suited for the trace analysis of high purity di-boron trioxide used in microelectronics applications.  相似文献
