In this paper we study the ground state phase diagram of a one-dimensional t-J-U model away from half-filling. In the large-bandwidth limit and for ferromagnetic exchange with easy-plane anisotropy a phase with gapless charge and massive spin excitations, characterized by the coexistence of triplet superconducting and spin density wave instabilities is realized in the ground state. With increasing ferromagnetic exchange transitions into a ferrometallic and then a spin gapped triplet superconducting phase take place.  相似文献

We construct a set of exact ground states with a localized ferromagnetic domain wall and with an extended spiral structure in a deformed flat-band Hubbard model in arbitrary dimensions. We show the uniqueness of the ground state for the half-filled lowest band in a fixed magnetization subspace. The ground states with these structures are degenerate with all-spin-up or all-spin-down states under the open boundary condition. We represent a spin one-point function in terms of local electron number density, and find the domain wall structure in our model. We show the existence of gapless excitations above a domain wall ground state in dimensions higher than one. On the other hand, under the periodic boundary condition, the ground state is the all-spin-up or all-spin-down state. We show that the spin-wave excitation above the all-spin-up or -down state has an energy gap because of the anisotropy  相似文献

It is commonly believed that strongly interacting one-dimensional Fermi systems with gapless excitations are effectively described by Luttinger liquid theory. However, when the temperature of the system is high compared to the spin energy, but small compared to the charge energy, the system becomes "spin incoherent." We present numerical evidence showing that the one-dimensional "t-J-Kondo" lattice, consisting of a t-J chain interacting with localized spins, displays all the characteristic signatures of spin-incoherent physics, but in the ground state. We argue that similar physics may be present in a wide range of strongly interacting systems.  相似文献

We provide a self-consistent mean-field framework to study the effect of strong interactions in a quantum spin Hall insulator on the honeycomb lattice. We identify an exotic phase for large spin-orbit coupling and intermediate Hubbard interaction. This phase is gapped and does not break any symmetry. Instead, we find a fourfold topological degeneracy of the ground state on the torus and fractionalized excitations with semionic mutual braiding statistics. Moreover, we argue that it has gapless edge modes protected by time-reversal symmetry but a trivial Z(2) topological invariant. Finally, we discuss the experimental signatures of this exotic phase. Our work highlights the important theme that interesting phases arise in the regime of strong spin-orbit coupling and interactions.  相似文献

We study the exact low energy spectra of the spin 1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet on small samples of the kagomé lattice of up to N=36 sites. In agreement with the conclusions of previous authors, we find that these low energy spectra contradict the hypothesis of Néel type long range order. Certainly, the ground state of this system is a spin liquid, but its properties are rather unusual. The magnetic () excitations are separated from the ground state by a gap. However, this gap is filled with nonmagnetic () excitations. In the thermodynamic limit the spectrum of these nonmagnetic excitations will presumably develop into a gapless continuum adjacent to the ground state. Surprisingly, the eigenstates of samples with an odd number of sites, i.e. samples with an unsaturated spin, exhibit symmetries which could support long range chiral order. We do not know if these states will be true thermodynamic states or only metastable ones. In any case, the low energy properties of the spin 1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet on the kagomé lattice clearly distinguish this system from either a short range RVB spin liquid or a standard chiral spin liquid. Presumably they are facets of a generically new state of frustrated two-dimensional quantum antiferromagnets. Received: 27 November 1997 / Accepted: 29 January 1998  相似文献

We calculate the effect of order parameter fluctuations on the fermionic single-particle excitations in the superfluid state of neutral fermions interacting with short-range attractive forces. We show that in dimensions D< or =3 the singular effective interaction between the fermions mediated by the gapless Bogoliubov-Anderson mode prohibits the existence of well-defined quasiparticles. We explicitly calculate the single-particle spectral function in the BEC regime in D=3 and show that in this case the quasiparticle residue and the density of states are logarithmically suppressed.  相似文献

We study the entropy of chiral 2+01-dimensional topological phases, where there are both gapped bulk excitations and gapless edge modes. We show how the entanglement entropy of both types of excitations can be encoded in a single partition function. This partition function is holographic because it can be expressed entirely in terms of the conformal field theory describing the edge modes. We give a general expression for the holographic partition function, and discuss several examples in depth, including abelian and non-abelian fractional quantum Hall states, and $p+ip$ superconductors. We extend these results to include a point contact allowing tunneling between two points on the edge, which causes thermodynamic entropy associated with the point contact to be lost with decreasing temperature. Such a perturbation effectively breaks the system in two, and we can identify the thermodynamic entropy loss with the loss of the edge entanglement entropy. From these results, we obtain a simple interpretation of the non-integer ‘ground state degeneracy’ which is obtained in 1+1-dimensional quantum impurity problems: its logarithm is a 2+1-dimensional topological entanglement entropy.  相似文献

Anisotropic pairing between fermion species with different Fermi momenta opens two-dimensional areas of gapless excitations, thus producing a spatially homogeneous state with coexisting superfluid and normal fluids. This breached pairing state is stable and robust for arbitrarily small mismatch and weak p-wave coupling.  相似文献

The spin model of “ferrimagnetic” nanotube is proposed and some theoretical predictions concerning the ground state and low energy excitations of the model are given. In particular, the spin-wave structure of the exact ground state of bipartite magnets is proven. For tubes formed by weakly interacted cyclic fragments we show: first, the existence of gapless excitations with decreasing total spin; and second, gapped excitations. This leads to an intermediate plateau in field dependence of tube magnetization. Numerical calculations show the strong effect of frustrations on the magnetization of anisotropic spin tubes at low temperatures which may lead to the creation of an additional fractional magnetization plateau.  相似文献

讨论了建立在相对论平均场基态的相对论无规位相近似研究中的一致性问题. 研究表明考虑费米海和Dirac海的粒子 空穴激发对核的同位旋标量巨共振的能量有很大的影响. The fully consistent relativistic random phase approximation (RRPA) built on the relativist mean field (RMF) ground state is presented. The fully consistent RRPA requires that the nuclear RMF wave function and the RRPA renormalization are calculated in a same effective Lagrangian. A theoretically complete treatment of the RRPA at the mean field level with no sea approximation must include not only the usual particle hole states, but also the pairs formed from the occupied Fermi states and Dirac states. Effects of inclusion of Dirac sea states in various multipole excitations are investigated. Considerable effects on the isoscalar giant multipole resonances are observed.  相似文献

We extend the concept of an entanglement spectrum from the geometrical to the particle bipartite partition. We apply this to several fractional quantum Hall wave functions on both sphere and torus geometries to show that this new type of entanglement spectra completely reveals the physics of bulk quasihole excitations. While this is easily understood when a local Hamiltonian for the model state exists, we show that the quasihole wave functions are encoded within the model state even when such a Hamiltonian is not known. As a nontrivial example, we look at Jain's composite fermion states and obtain their quasiholes directly from the model state wave function. We reach similar conclusions for wave functions described by Jack polynomials.  相似文献

We demonstrate that Majorana fermions exist in edges of systems and in a vortex core even for superconductors with nodal excitations such as the d-wave pairing state under a particular but realistic condition in the case with an antisymmetric spin-orbit interaction and a nonzero magnetic field below the upper critical field. We clarify that the Majorana fermion state is topologically protected in spite of the presence of bulk gapless nodal excitations, because of the existence of a nontrivial topological number. Our finding drastically enlarges target systems where we can explore the Majorana fermion state.  相似文献

We calculate high‐frequency spin excitations of the skyrmion ground state cylindrical magnetic dots. The skyrmion is assumed to be stabilized at room temperature due to interplay of the isotropic and Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya exchange interactions, perpendicular magnetic anisotropy and magnetostatic interaction. The Skyrmion ground state is represented as combination of two radially symmetric bubble domains. To consider the Bloch‐ and Néel‐type magnetic skyrmion dynamics we apply an approximation of ultrathin domain wall between the circular domains and assume that the magnetic dot is thin enough (magnetization does not depend on the thickness coordinate). The eigenfunctions/eigenfrequencies of spin wave excitations over the skyrmion background are calculated as a function of the skyrmion radius. The developed approach allows predicting spin wave eigenfrequencies in the skyrmion ground state magnetic dots. Recent experiments on magnetic skyrmion dynamics are discussed. We investigate an asymmetric zigzag spin ladder with different exchange integrals on both legs using bosonization and renormalization group approaches. When the leg exchange integrals and frustration both are sufficiently small, renormalization group analysis shows that the Heisenberg critical point flows to an intermediate-coupling fixed point with gapless excitations and a vanishing spin velocity. When they are large, a spin gap opens and a dimer liquid is realized. Here, we find a continuous manifold of Hamiltonians with dimer product ground states, interpolating between the Majumdar-Ghosh and sawtooth spin-chain model.  相似文献

We present the dispersion relations for quasiparticle excitations about the color-flavor locked ground state of QCD at high baryon density. In the presence of condensates which pair light and strange quarks there need not be an energy gap in the quasiparticle spectrum. This raises the possibility of gapless color superconductivity, with a Meissner effect but no minimum excitation energy. Analysis within a toy model suggests that gapless color superconductivity may occur only as a metastable phase.  相似文献

In this paper we calculate the energies of ground and excited states of two opposite charge carriers confined on a single- or double-wall cylindrical surface. A nontrivial dependence of excited state energies on cylinder radius value (for the case of a single-wall cylinder) is found, and the explanation of this behavior is based on symmetry properties of the corresponding wavefunctions. The crossover from a one-dimensional problem to a two-dimensional one with increase of the radius value is discussed in detail. For the double-wall cylinder, we obtain and analyze the dependence of ground state energy on interwall distance and ratio between particle masses.  相似文献

The excitations (both collective and quasi-pair states) connected with quantum condensation of a fermion gas are examined. These gapless excitations do not only turn up for finite-range interaction but also for Coulomb interaction, i.e., as electronic excitations in a superconductor.  相似文献

We have investigated surface excitations in a system wherein the ionic ground state is a magnetic singlet. The pseudospin formalism is employed to account for the crystal-field and exchange interactions between the ions in a Heisenberg ferromagnet with the singlet-triplet crystal-field-only level scheme. The Hamiltonian was studied in the molecular field approximation to find the possible ground states. Surface excitations for the simple cubic structure were investigated for the (001) surface in the random phase approximation. Analytic expressions have been obtained for the thermodynamic Green functions. For a fully magnetized molecular field ground state, there are in general two bulk bands, the spin-wave and the excitonic. Surface modes were found to exist below the spin-wave band, above the excitonic band and between the bands. The dispersion curves can exist only over one or two limited regions of the two-dimensional wave-vector parallel to the crystal surface.  相似文献
