An abelian group A is called absolutely abelian, if in every central extension N ? G ? A the group G is also abelian. The abelian group A is absolutely abelian precisely when the Schur multiplicator H2A vanished. These groups, and more generally groups with HnA = 0 for some n, are characterized by elementary internal properties. (Here H1A denotes the integral homology of A.) The cases of even n and odd n behave strikingly different. There are 2?ο different isomorphism types of abelian groups A with reduced torsion subgroup satisfying H2nA = 0. The major tools are direct limit arguments and the Lyndon-Hochschild-Serre (L-H-S) spectral sequence, but the treatment of absolutely abelian groups does not use spectral sequences. All differentials dr for r ≥ 2 in the L-H-S spectral sequence of a pure abelian extension vanish. Included is a proof of the folklore theorem, that homology of groups commutes with direct limits also in the group variable, and a discussion of the L-H-S spectral sequence for direct limits.  相似文献

This work is concerned with dynamical systems in presence of symmetries and reversing symmetries. We describe a construction process of subspaces that are invariant by linear Γ-reversible-equivariant mappings, where Γ is the compact Lie group of all the symmetries and reversing symmetries of such systems. These subspaces are the σ-isotypic components, first introduced by Lamb and Roberts in (1999) [10] and that correspond to the isotypic components for purely equivariant systems. In addition, by representation theory methods derived from the topological structure of the group Γ, two algebraic formulae are established for the computation of the σ-index of a closed subgroup of Γ. The results obtained here are to be applied to general reversible-equivariant systems, but are of particular interest for the more subtle of the two possible cases, namely the non-self-dual case. Some examples are presented.  相似文献

For any group G, a certain cohomology theory of G-modules is developed. This cohomology arises from the homotopy theory of G-spaces and it is called the “abelian cohomology of G-modules”. Then, as the main results of this paper, natural one-to-one correspondences between elements of the 3rd cohomology groups of G-modules, G-equivariant pointed simply-connected homotopy 3-types and equivalence classes of braided G-graded categorical groups are established. The relationship among all these objects with equivariant quadratic functions between G-modules is also discussed.  相似文献

We develop the homology theory of CW(A)-complexes, generalizing the classical cellular homology theory for CW-complexes. A CW(A)-complex is a topological space which is built up out of cells of a certain core A.  相似文献

We get three types of results on measurable group theory; direct product groups of Ozawa's class S groups, wreath product groups and amalgamated free products. We prove measure equivalence factorization results on direct product groups of Ozawa's class S groups. As consequences, Monod-Shalom type orbit equivalence rigidity theorems follow. We prove that if two wreath product groups A?G, B?Γ of non-amenable exact direct product groups G, Γ with amenable bases A, B are measure equivalent, then G and Γ are measure equivalent. We get Bass-Serre rigidity results on amalgamated free products of non-amenable exact direct product groups.  相似文献

Let G be a finite group and A a nonempty subset (possibly containing the identity element) of G. The Bi-Cayley graph X=BC(G,A) of G with respect to A is defined as the bipartite graph with vertex set G×{0,1} and edge set {{(g,0),(sg,1)}∣gG,sA}. A graph Γ admitting a perfect matching is called n-extendable if ∣V(Γ)∣≥2n+2 and every matching of size n in Γ can be extended to a perfect matching of Γ. In this paper, the extendability of Bi-Cayley graphs of finite abelian groups is explored. In particular, 2-extendable and 3-extendable Bi-Cayley graphs of finite abelian groups are characterized.  相似文献

Let Γ3 be an infinite regular tree of valence 3. There exist subgroups B of Aut (Γ3) which are 5-regular on Γ3, i.e., sharply transitive on the set of 5-arcs of Γ3. We prove that any two such subgroups are conjugate in Aut (Γ3). The pair (Γ3, B) is a universal 5-regular action in the sense that if (G, A) is a pair consisting of a cubical graph G and a 5-regular subgroup A of automorphisms of G then (G, A) can be “covered” by (Γ3, B) in a certain natural way.  相似文献

The equivariant fundamental groupoid of a G-space X is a category which generalizes the fundamental groupoid of a space to the equivariant setting. In this paper, we prove a van Kampen theorem for these categories: the equivariant fundamental groupoid of X can be obtained as a pushout of the categories associated to two open G-subsets covering X. This is proved by interpreting the equivariant fundamental groupoid as a Grothendieck semidirect product construction, and combining general properties of this construction with the ordinary (non-equivariant) van Kampen theorem. We then illustrate applications of this theorem by showing that the equivariant fundamental groupoid of a G-CW complex only depends on the 2-skeleton and also by using the theorem to compute an example.  相似文献

In this paper we develop the basic homotopy theory of G-symmetric spectra (that is, symmetric spectra with a G-action) for a finite group G, as a model for equivariant stable homotopy with respect to a G-set universe. This model lies in between Mandell's equivariant symmetric spectra and the G-orthogonal spectra of Mandell and May and is Quillen equivalent to the two. We further discuss equivariant semistability, construct model structures on module, algebra and commutative algebra categories and describe the homotopical properties of the multiplicative norm in this context.  相似文献

In this paper we construct non-negative gradings on a basic Brauer tree algebra AΓ corresponding to an arbitrary Brauer tree Γ of type (m,e). We do this by transferring gradings via derived equivalence from a basic Brauer tree algebra AS, whose tree is a star with the exceptional vertex in the middle, to AΓ. The grading on AS comes from the tight grading given by the radical filtration. To transfer gradings via derived equivalence we use tilting complexes constructed by taking Green’s walk around Γ (cf. Schaps and Zakay-Illouz (2001) [17]). By computing endomorphism rings of these tilting complexes we get graded algebras. We also compute , the group of outer automorphisms that fix the isomorphism classes of simple AΓ-modules, where Γ is an arbitrary Brauer tree, and we prove that there is unique grading on AΓ up to graded Morita equivalence and rescaling.  相似文献

We study equivariant singular homology in the case of actions of totally disconnected locally compact groups on topological spaces. Theorem A says that if G is a totally disconnected locally compact group and X is a G-space, then any short exact sequence of covariant coefficient systems for G induces a long exact sequence of corresponding equivariant singular homology groups of the G-space X. In particular we consider the case where G is a totally disconnected compact group, i.e., a profinite group, and G acts freely on X. Of special interest is the case where G is a p-adic group, p a prime. The conjecture that no p-adic group, p a prime, can act effectively on a connected topological manifold, is namely known to be equivalent to the famous Hilbert-Smith conjecture. The Hilbert-Smith conjecture is the statement that, if a locally compact group G acts effectively on a connected topological manifold M, then G is a Lie group.  相似文献

The Witt-Burnside ring of a profinite group G over a commutative ring A generalizes both the Burnside ring of virtual G-sets and the rings of universal and p-typical Witt vectors over A. The Witt-Burnside ring of G over the monoid ring Z[M], where M is a commutative monoid, is proved isomorphic to the Grothendieck ring of a category whose objects are almost finite G-sets equipped with a map to M that is constant on G-orbits. In particular, if A is a commutative ring and A× denotes the set A as a monoid under multiplication, then the Witt-Burnside ring of G over Z[A×] is isomorphic to Graham's ring of “virtual G-strings with coefficients in A.” This result forms the basis for a new construction of Witt-Burnside rings and provides an important missing link between the constructions of Dress and Siebeneicher [Adv. in Math. 70 (1988) 87-132] and Graham [Adv. in Math. 99 (1993) 248-263]. With this approach the usual truncation, Frobenius, Verschiebung, and Teichmüller maps readily generalize to maps between Witt-Burnside rings.  相似文献

For a discrete group Γ, we explicitly describe the rational Baum-Connes assembly map in “homological degree ?2” and show that in this domain it factors through the algebraic K-theory of the complex group ring of Γ. We also state and prove a delocalization property for , namely expressing it rationally in terms of the Novikov assembly map. Finally, we give a handicrafted construction of the delocalized equivariant Chern character (in the analytic language) and prove that it coincides with the equivariant Chern character of Lück (Invent. Math. 149 (2002) 123-152) (defined in the topological framework).  相似文献

Let G be a connected semisimple real algebraic group. Assume that G(R) has no compact factors and let Γ be a torsion-free uniform lattice subgroup of G(R). Then Γ contains a malnormal abelian subgroup A. This implies that the II1 factor VN(Γ) contains a masa A with Pukánszky invariant {∞}.  相似文献

In this article, we deal with the following two questions. For smooth actions of a given finite group G on spheres S, which smooth manifolds F occur as the fixed point sets in S, and which real G-vector bundles ν over F occur as the equivariant normal bundles of F in S? We focus on the case G is an Oliver group and answer both questions under some conditions imposed on G, F, and ν. We construct smooth actions of G on spheres by making use of equivariant surgery, equivariant thickening, and Oliver's equivariant bundle extension method modified by an equivariant wegde sum construction and an equivariant bundle subtraction procedure.  相似文献

For a closed cocompact subgroup Γ of a locally compact group G, given a compact abelian subgroup K of G and a homomorphism satisfying certain conditions, Landstad and Raeburn constructed equivariant noncommutative deformations of the homogeneous space G/Γ, generalizing Rieffel's construction of quantum Heisenberg manifolds. We show that when G is a Lie group and G/Γ is connected, given any norm on the Lie algebra of G, the seminorm on induced by the derivation map of the canonical G-action defines a compact quantum metric. Furthermore, it is shown that this compact quantum metric space depends on ρ continuously, with respect to quantum Gromov-Hausdorff distances.  相似文献

Let Γ be a finite connected G-vertex-transitive graph and let v be a vertex of Γ. If the permutation group induced by the action of the vertex-stabiliser G v on the neighbourhood Γ(v) is permutation isomorphic to L, then (Γ,G) is said to be locally L. A permutation group L is graph-restrictive if there exists a constant c(L) such that, for every locally L pair (Γ,G) and a vertex v of Γ, the inequality |G v |≤c(L) holds. We show that an intransitive group is graph-restrictive if and only if it is semiregular.  相似文献

Let G be a locally compact group. We continue our work [A. Ghaffari: Γ-amenability of locally compact groups, Acta Math. Sinica, English Series, 26 (2010), 2313–2324] in the study of Γ-amenability of a locally compact group G defined with respect to a closed subgroup Γ of G × G. In this paper, among other things, we introduce and study a closed subspace A Γ p (G) of L (Γ) and then characterize the Γ-amenability of G using A Γ p (G). Various necessary and sufficient conditions are found for a locally compact group to possess a Γ-invariant mean.  相似文献

This note is concerned with stable G-equivariant homology and cohomology theories (G a compact Lie group). In important cases, when H-equivariant theories are defined naturally for all closed subgroups H of G, we show that the G-(co)homology groups of G xH X are isomorphic with H-(co)homology groups of X. We introduce the concept of orientability of G-vector bundles and manifolds with respect to an equivariant cohomology theory and prove a duality theorem which implies an equivariant analogue of Poincaré-Lefschetz duality.
