A novel biocompatible polymer was prepared by grafting the derivate of β ‐cyclodextrin (6‐SH ‐β ‐CD ) onto poly(3,4‐dihydroxycinnamic acid) (PDHCA ) via Michael addition. PDHCA ‐β ‐CD nanoparticles were prepared by the self‐assembly of amphiphilic PDHCA ‐β ‐CD polymer with N,N ‐dimethylformamide (DMF ) as good solvent and water as poor solvent. The PDHCA ‐β ‐CD nanoparticles were monodispersed with spherical morphology as shown in the scanning electron microscopic (SEM ) images in accord with the result of dynamic light scattering (DLS ) measurement. The size of the nanoparticles could be controlled from 60 to 180 nm by tuning the grafting degree (GD ) of PDHCA ‐β ‐CD polymer and also significantly influenced by the amount of water used during the process. These as‐prepared nanoparticles were stable without any significant change in the particle size after six‐months’ storage and even after being irradiated by UV at λ >280 nm for hours. The formation mechanism of PDHCA ‐β ‐CD nanoparticles was explored. The content of doxorubicin (DOX ) loaded onto the nanoparticles was up to 39% with relatively high loading efficiency (approximately 78.8% of initial DOX introduced was loaded). In vitro release studies suggested that DOX released slowly from PDHCA ‐β ‐CD nanoparticles. These features strongly support the potential of developing PDHCA ‐β ‐CD nanoparticles as carriers for the controlled delivery of drug.  相似文献

A novel method is proposed to access to new poly(α‐amino‐ε‐caprolactone‐co‐ε‐caprolactone) using poly(α‐iodo‐ε‐caprolactone‐co‐ε‐caprolactone) as polymeric substrate. First, ring‐opening (co)polymerizations of α‐iodo‐ε‐caprolactone (αIεCL) with ε‐caprolactone (εCL) are performed using tin 2‐ethylhexanoate (Sn(Oct)2) as catalyst. (Co)polymers are fully characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FTIR, SEC, DSC, and TGA. Then, these iodinated polyesters are used as polymeric substrates to access to poly(α‐amino‐ε‐caprolactone‐co‐ε‐caprolactone) by two different strategies. The first one is the reaction of poly(αIεCL‐co‐εCL) with ammonia, the second one is the reduction of poly(αN3εCL‐co‐εCL) by hydrogenolysis. This poly(α‐amino‐ε‐caprolactone‐co‐ε‐caprolactone) (FαNH2εCL < 0.1) opens the way to new cationic and water‐soluble PCL‐based degradable polyesters. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The copolymers that are composed of poly(fluorene) (PF), poly(p‐phenylene), and Poly(p‐phenylenevinylene) as backbone and a large 4′‐(N,N′‐diphenylamino)diphenyl or 4′‐(N,N′‐diphenylamino)phenyl as pendent group were synthesized by the nickel(0)‐mediated polycoupling. The composition of the obtained copolymers was confirmed by H NMR. All the copolymers possessed a high weight‐average molecular weight and good solubility in common organic solvents. As the content of triphenyl amine pendants increases, the copolymers showed increased thermal stability due to increased glass transition temperature and increased hole injection ability because of decreased onset of the oxidation potential. In the photoluminescence spectra of copolymers, poly (BDAV30co‐DHF70) and poly(BDAPV30co‐DHF70) showed efficient energy transfer. indium tin oxide/poly(styrene sulfonate)‐doped poly(3,4‐ethylene dioxythiophene)/poly (BDAV30co‐DHF70)/LiF/Al device showed maximum brightness of 2267 cd/m2 and efficiency of 0.80 cd/A, with turn‐on voltage at 9.1 V. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of well‐defined three‐arm star poly(ε‐caprolactone)‐b‐poly(acrylic acid) copolymers having different block lengths were synthesized via the combination of ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) and atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). First, three‐arm star poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL) (Mn = 2490–7830 g mol?1; Mw/Mn = 1.19–1.24) were synthesized via ROP of ε‐caprolactone (ε‐CL) using tris(2‐hydroxyethyl)cynuric acid as three‐arm initiator and stannous octoate (Sn(Oct)2) as a catalyst. Subsequently, the three‐arm macroinitiator transformed from such PCL in high conversion initiated ATRPs of tert‐butyl acrylate (tBuA) to construct three‐arm star PCL‐b‐PtBuA copolymers (Mn = 10,900–19,570 g mol?1; Mw/Mn = 1.14–1.23). Finally, the three‐arm star PCL‐b‐PAA copolymer was obtained via the hydrolysis of the PtBuA segment in three‐arm star PCL‐b‐PtBuA copolymers. The chain structures of all the polymers were characterized by gel permeation chromatography, proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The aggregates of three‐arm star PCL‐b‐PAA copolymer were studied by the determination of critical micelles concentration and transmission electron microscope. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Degradable, amphiphilic graft copolymers of poly(ε‐caprolactone)‐graft‐poly(ethylene oxide), PCL‐g‐PEO, were synthesized via a grafting onto strategy taking advantage of the ketones presented along the backbone of the statistical copolymer poly(ε‐caprolactone)‐co‐(2‐oxepane‐1,5‐dione), (PCL‐co‐OPD). Through the formation of stable ketoxime ether linkages, 3 kDa PEO grafts and p‐methoxybenzyl side chains were incorporated onto the polyester backbone with a high degree of fidelity and efficiency, as verified by NMR spectroscopies and GPC analysis (90% grafting efficiency in some cases). The resulting block graft copolymers displayed significant thermal differences, specifically a depression in the observed melting transition temperature, Tm, in comparison with the parent PCL and PEO polymers. These amphiphilic block graft copolymers undergo self‐assembly in aqueous solution with the P(CL‐co‐OPD‐co‐(OPD‐g‐PEO)) polymer forming spherical micelles and a P(CL‐co‐OPD‐co‐(OPD‐g‐PEO)‐co‐(OPD‐gpMeOBn)) forming cylindrical or rod‐like micelles, as observed by transmission electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new synthetic strategy, the combination of living polymerization of ylides and ring‐opening polymerization (ROP), was successfully used to obtain well‐defined polymethylene‐b‐poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PM‐b‐PCL) diblock copolymers. Two hydroxyl‐terminated polymethylenes (PM‐OH, Mn= 1800 g mol?1 (PDI = 1.18) and Mn = 6400 g mol?1 (PDI = 1.14)) were prepared using living polymerization of dimethylsulfoxonium methylides. Then, such polymers were successfully transformed to PM‐b‐PCL diblock copolymers by using stannous octoate as a catalyst for ROP of ε‐caprolactone. The GPC traces and 1H NMR of PM‐b‐PCL diblock copolymers indicated the successful extension of PCL segment (Mn of PM‐b‐PCL = 5200–10,300 g mol?1; PDI = 1.06–1.13). The thermal properties of the double crystalline diblock copolymers were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The results indicated that the incorporation of crystalline segments of PCL chain effectively influence the crystalline process of PM segments. The low‐density polyethylene (LDPE)/PCL and LDPE/polycarbonate (PC) blends were prepared using PM‐b‐PCL as compatibilizer, respectively. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) observation on the cryofractured surface of such blend polymers indicates that the PM‐b‐PCL diblock copolymers are effective compatibilizers for LDPE/PCL and LDPE/PC blends. Porous films were fabricated via the breath‐figure method using different concentration of PM‐b‐PCL diblock copolymers in CH2Cl2 under a static humid condition. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of gradient and block copolymers, based on 2‐(2‐methoxyethoxy)ethyl methacrylate (MEO2MA) and tert‐butyl acrylate (tBA), were synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) in a first step. The MEO2MA monomer leads to the production of thermosensitive polymers, exhibiting lower critical solution temperature (LCST) at around room temperature, which could be adjusted by changing the proportion of tBA in the copolymer. In a second step, the tert‐butyl groups of tBA were hydrolyzed with trifluoroacetic acid to form the corresponding block and gradient copolymers of MEO2MA and acrylic acid (AA), which exhibited both temperature and pH‐responsive behavior. These copolymers showed LCST values strongly dependent on the pH. At acid pH, a slightly decrease of LCST with an increase of AA in the copolymer was observed. However, at neutral or basic conditions, ionization of acid groups increases the hydrophilic balance considerably raising the LCST values, which even become not observable over the temperature range under study. In the last step, these carboxylic functionalized copolymers were covalently bound to biocompatible and biodegradable films of poly(3‐hydroxybutyrate‐co‐3‐hydroxyhexanoate) [P(HB‐co‐HHx)] obtained by casting and, previously treated with ethylenediamine (ED) to render their surfaces with amino groups. Thereby, thermosensitive surfaces of modified P(HB‐co‐HHx) could be obtained. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2011  相似文献

Summary: A novel cyclic carbonate monomer 5‐methyl‐5‐(succinimide‐N‐oxycarbonyl)‐1,3‐dioxan‐2‐one (MSTC) was prepared. The copolymers of MSTC with caprolactone (CL) were further synthesized by ring‐opening copolymerization. The copolymers with amido‐amine pendent groups were obtained by aminolysis of poly(MSTC‐co‐CL) with ethylenediamine. These copolymers were characterized by IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR spectroscopies and GPC. The hydrophilicity and degradability of the copolymers with amido‐amine pendent groups were greatly improved in comparison with the PCL homopolymer.

NMR spectroscopy was applied for quantitative and qualitative characterization of the chemical composition and microstructure of a series of poly(3‐hydroxybutyrate‐co‐3‐hydoxyvalerate) copolymers, P(3HB‐co‐3HV), synthesized by mixed microbial cultures at several different feeding strategies. The monomer sequence distribution of the bacterially synthesized P(3HB‐co‐3HV) was defined by analysis of their high‐resolution 1D 13C NMR and 2D 1H/13C HSQC and 1H/13C HMBC NMR spectra. The results were verified by employment of statistical methods and suggest a block copolymer microstructure of the P(3HB‐co‐3HV) copolymers studied. Definitive distinction between block copolymers or a mixture of random copolymers could not be achieved. NMR spectral analysis indicates that the chemical composition and microstructure of the copolymers can be tuned by choosing a correct feeding strategy. Biodegradable, amphiphilic, four‐armed poly(?‐caprolactone)‐block‐poly(ethylene oxide) (PCL‐b‐PEO) copolymers were synthesized by ring‐opening polymerization of ethylene oxide in the presence of four‐armed poly(?‐caprolactone) (PCL) with terminal OH groups with diethylzinc (ZnEt2) as a catalyst. The chemical structure of PCL‐b‐PEO copolymer was confirmed by 1H NMR and 13C NMR. The hydroxyl end groups of the four‐armed PCL were successfully substituted by PEO blocks in the copolymer. The monomodal profile of molecular weight distribution by gel permeation chromatography provided further evidence for the four‐armed architecture of the copolymer. Physicochemical properties of the four‐armed block copolymers differed from their starting four‐armed PCL precursor. The melting points were between those of PCL precursor and linear poly(ethylene glycol). The length of the outer PEO blocks exhibited an obvious effect on the crystallizability of the block copolymer. The degree of swelling of the four‐armed block copolymer increased with PEO length and PEO content. The micelle formation of the four‐armed block copolymer was examined by a fluorescent probe technique, and the existence of the critical micelle concentration (cmc) confirmed the amphiphilic nature of the resulting copolymer. The cmc value increased with increasing PEO length. The absolute cmc values were higher than those for linear amphiphilic block copolymers. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. pH‐responsive methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)‐b‐poly(ε‐caprolactone) bearing pendant carboxyl groups mPEG‐b‐P(2‐CCL‐co‐6‐CCL) was synthesized based on our newly monomer benzyloxycarbonylmethly functionalized ε‐caprolactone. Their structure was confirmed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and Fourier transform infrared spectrum spectra. In addition, SEC results indicated that the copolymers had a relatively narrow polydispersity. WXRD and DSC demonstrated that the introduction of carboxymethyl groups had significant effect on the crystallinity of the copolymers. Furthermore, the solution behavior of mPEG‐b‐P(2‐CCL‐co‐6‐CCL) has been studied by various methods. The results indicated that mPEG‐b‐P(2‐CCL‐co‐6‐CCL) had a rich pH‐responsive behavior and the micelles could be formed by pH induction, and the mPEG‐b‐P(2‐CCL‐co‐6‐CCL) could existed as unimers, micelles or large aggregates in different pH range accordingly. The mechanism of which was supposed to depend on the counteraction between the hydrophobic interaction from PCL and the ionization of the carboxyl groups along the polymer chain. Moreover, the mPEG‐b‐P(2‐CCL‐co‐6‐CCL) copolymers displayed good biocompatibility according to the preliminary cytotoxicity study. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. The comonomer composition and its distribution have been investigated for poly(3‐hydroxybutyrate‐co‐3‐hydroxyhexanoate) [P(3HB‐co‐3HH)], which was bacterially synthesized by Ralstonia eutropha from coconut oil as a carbon source. Using a chloroform/heptane mixed solvent, they were fractionated into several fractions with different comonomer composition. Bacterially synthesized P(3HB‐co‐3HH)s were found to have a wide compositional distribution. Using the fractions with a narrower comonomer composition distribution, the compositional dependence of thermal properties was investigated. The differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) melting behavior of a sample of unfractionated P(3HB‐co‐3HH) did not reflect that of fractions with similar average 3HH content. It was concluded that each of the fractions affects the thermal properties of the original unfractionated P(3HB‐co‐3HH), which should therefore be considered as polymer blends.  相似文献

A well‐defined comblike copolymer of poly(ethylene oxide‐co‐glycidol) [(poly(EO‐co‐Gly)] as the main chain and poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL) as the side chain was successfully prepared by the combination of anionic polymerization and ring‐opening polymerization. The glycidol was protected by ethyl vinyl ether to form 2,3‐epoxypropyl‐1‐ethoxyethyl ether (EPEE) first, and then ethylene oxide was copolymerized with EPEE by an anionic mechanism. The EPEE segments of the copolymer were deprotected by formic acid, and the glycidol segments of the copolymers were recovered after saponification. Poly(EO‐co‐Gly) with multihydroxyls was used further to initiate the ring‐opening polymerization of ε‐caprolactone in the presence of stannous octoate. When the grafted copolymer was mixed with α‐cyclodextrin, crystalline inclusion complexes (ICs) were formed, and the intermediate and final products, poly(ethylene oxide‐co‐glycidol)‐graft‐poly(ε‐caprolactone) and ICs, were characterized with gel permeation chromatography, NMR, differential scanning calorimetry, X‐ray diffraction, and thermogravimetric analysis in detail. The obtained ICs had a channel‐type crystalline structure, and the ratio of ε‐caprolactone units to α‐cyclodextrin for the ICs was higher than 1:1. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new series of copolymers with high brightness and luminance efficiency were synthesized using the Gilch polymerization method, and their electro‐optical properties were investigated. The weight‐average molecular weights (Mw) and polydispersities of the synthesized poly(9,9‐dioctylfluorenyl‐2,7‐vinylene) [poly(FV)], poly[2‐(3‐dimethyldodecylsilylphenyl)‐1,4‐phenylenevinylene] [poly(m‐SiPhPV)], and poly[9,9‐di‐n‐octylfluorenyl‐2,7‐vinylene]‐co‐(2‐(3‐dimethyldodecylsilylphenyl)‐1,4‐phenylene vinylene)] [poly(FV‐com‐SiPhPV)] were found to be in the ranges of (8.7–32.6) × 104 and 2.3–5.4, respectively. It was found that the electro‐optical properties of the copolymers could be adjusted by controlling the feed ratios of the comonomers. Thin films of poly(FV), poly(m‐SiPhPV), and poly(FV‐com‐SiPhPV) were found to exhibit photoluminescence quantum yields between 21% and 42%, which are higher than those of MEH‐PPV. Light‐emitting diodes were fabricated in ITO/PEDOT/light‐emitting polymer/cathode configurations using either double layer (LiF/Al) or triple layer (Alq3/LiF/Al) cathode structures. The performance of the polymer light‐emitting diodes (PLEDs) with triple layer cathodes was found to be better than that of the PLEDs with double layer cathodes in poly(FV) and poly(FV‐com‐SiPhPV). The turn‐on voltages of the PLEDs were in the range of 4.5–6.0 V, with maximum brightness and luminance efficiency up to 9691 cd/m2 at 16 V and 3.27 cd/A at 13 V, respectively. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Diblock copolymers consisting of methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) (MPEG) and poly(?‐caprolactone) (PCL), poly(δ‐valerolactone) (PVL), poly(L ‐lactic acid) (PLLA), or poly(lactic‐co‐glycolic acid) (PLGA) as biodegradable polyesters were prepared to examine the phase transition of diblock copolymer solutions. MPEG–PCL and MPEG–PVL diblock copolymers and MPEG–PLLA and MPEG–PLGA diblock copolymers were synthesized by the ring‐opening polymerization of ?‐caprolactone or δ‐valerolactone in the presence of HCl · Et2O as a monomer activator at room temperature and by the ring‐opening polymerization of L ‐lactide or a mixture of L ‐lactide and glycolide in the presence of stannous octoate at 130 °C, respectively. The synthesized diblock copolymers were characterized with 1H NMR, IR, and gel permeation chromatography. The phase transitions for diblock copolymer aqueous solutions of various concentrations were explored according to the temperature variation. The diblock copolymer solutions exhibited the phase transition from gel to sol with increasing temperature. As the polyester block length of the diblock copolymers increased, the gel‐to‐sol transition moved to a lower concentration region. The gel‐to‐sol transition showed a dependence on the length of the polyester block segment. According to X‐ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry thermal studies, the gel‐to‐sol transition of the diblock copolymer solutions depended on their degrees of crystallinity because water could easily diffuse into amorphous polymers in comparison with polymers with a crystalline structure. The crystallinity markedly depended on both the distinct character and composition of the block segment. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 42: 5784–5793, 2004  相似文献

The radical copolymerization of vinylidene fluoride (VDF) and 1‐bromo‐2,2‐difluoroethylene (BDFE) in 1,1,1,3,3‐pentafluorobutane solution at different monomer molar ratios (ranging from 96/4 to 25/75 mol %) and initiated by tert‐butylperoxypivalate (TBPPI, mainly) is presented. Poly(VDF‐co‐BDFE) copolymers of various aspects (from white powders to yellow viscous liquids) were produced depending on the copolymer compositions. The microstructures of the obtained copolymers were characterized by 19F and 1H NMR spectroscopy and by elementary analysis and these techniques enabled one to assess the contents of both comonomers in the produced copolymers. VDF was shown to be more incorporated in the copolymer than BDFE. From the extended Kelen and Tudos method, the kinetics of the radical copolymerization led to the determination of the reactivity ratios, ri, of both comonomers (rVDF = 1.20 ± 0.50 and rBDFE = 0.40 ± 0.15 at 75 °C) showing that VDF is more reactive than BDFE. Alfrey‐Price's Q and e values of BDFE monomer were calculated to be 0.009 (from QVDF = 0.008) or 0.019 (from QVDF = 0.015) and +1.22 (vs. eVDF = 0.40) or +1.37 (vs. eVDF = 0.50), respectively, indicating that BDFE is an electron‐accepting monomer. Statistic cooligomers were produced with molar masses ranging from 1,800 to 5,500 g/mol (assessed by GPC with polystyrene standards). A further evidence of the successful copolymerization was shown by the selective reduction of bromine atoms in poly(VDF‐co‐BDFE) cooligomers that led to analog PVDF. The thermal properties of the poly(VDF‐co‐BDFE) cooligomers were also determined and those containing a high VDF amount exhibited a high thermal stability. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Biodegradable and biocompatible PCL‐g‐PEG amphiphilic graft copolymers were prepared by combination of ROP and “click” chemistry via “graft onto” method under mild conditions. First, chloro‐functionalized poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL‐Cl) was synthesized by the ring‐opening copolymerization of ε‐caprolactone (CL) and α‐chloro‐ε‐caprolactone (CCL) employing scandium triflate as high‐efficient catalyst with near 100% monomer conversion. Second, the chloro groups of PCL‐Cl were quantitatively converted into azide form by NaN3. Finally, copper(I)‐catalyzed cycloaddition reaction was carried out between azide‐functionalized PCL (PCL‐N3) and alkyne‐terminated poly(ethylene glycol) (A‐PEG) to give PCL‐g‐PEG amphiphilic graft copolymers. The composition and the graft architecture of the copolymers were characterized by 1H NMR, FTIR, and GPC analyses. These amphiphilic graft copolymers could self‐assemble into sphere‐like aggregates in aqueous solution with diverse diameters, which decreased with the increasing of grafting density. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Applications of metal‐free living cationic polymerization of vinyl ethers using HCl · Et2O are reported. Product of poly(vinyl ether)s possessing functional end groups such as hydroxyethyl groups with predicted molecular weights was used as a macroinitiator in activated monomer cationic polymerization of ε‐caprolactone (CL) with HCl · Et2O as a ring‐opening polymerization. This combination method is a metal‐free polymerization using HCl · Et2O. The formation of poly(isobutyl vinyl ether)‐b‐poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PIBVE‐b‐PCL) and poly(tert‐butyl vinyl ether)‐b‐poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PTBVE‐b‐PCL) from two vinyl ethers and CL was successful. Therefore, we synthesized novel amphiphilic, biocompatible, and biodegradable block copolymers comprised polyvinyl alcohol and PCL, namely PVA‐b‐PCL by transformation of acid hydrolysis of tert‐butoxy moiety of PTBVE in PTBVE‐b‐PCL. The synthesized copolymers showed well‐defined structure and narrow molecular weight distribution. The structure of resulting block copolymers was confirmed by 1H NMR, size exclusion chromatography, and differential scanning calorimetry. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Soft tissues, such as fat and skin, present high flexibility and are capable of withstanding large deformation in various functions. Hydrogels that can resemble the mechanical performance of soft tissue are unique and widely demanded. In this study, micellar hydrogels based on biocompatible poly(l ‐glutamic acid) (PLGA) were designed with the enhanced capacity to bear large deformation. Amphipathic triblock copolymer poly(ethylene glycol) acrylate‐co‐poly(ε‐caprolactone)‐co‐poly (ethylene glycol) acrylate (APEG‐PCL‐APEG) with two terminal double bonds was synthesized and self‐assembled into micelles. At the same time, graft copolymers, poly(l ‐glutamic acid)‐g‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate (PLGA‐g‐HEMA) with double bonds were synthesized. APEG‐PCL‐APEG micelles and PLGA‐g‐HEMA were mixed to construct micellar hydrogel via radical polymerization. The crystalline structure and hydrophobic aggregation of copolymers (APEG‐PCL‐APEG) were found to associate with PCL molecular weight. Due to the hydrophobic stress dissipation and crystalline structure of the micelles, the softness and toughness of hydrogels were promoted, exhibiting a 25% increase in ultimate strain. Moreover, the micellar hydrogels were able to load proteins with long‐term retention. In addition, under dynamic mechanical stimulation, the release of proteins could be accelerated. Besides, the micellar hydrogels also supported rabbit adipose‐derived stem cells (rASCs) growth, thus exhibiting the potential toward soft tissue engineering. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) copolymerization of 1‐octene and butyl methacrylate (BMA) was carried out for the first time using 4‐cyano‐4‐(phenylcarbonothioylthio)pentanoic acid as RAFT agent in N,N′‐dimethyl formamide. Poly(1‐octene‐co‐BMA) copolymers with well‐controlled molecular weights and narrow molecular weight distribution were obtained throughout the polymerization. The copolymers have been well characterized by different analytical techniques such as SEC, FT‐IR, NMR, SEM, AFM, XRD, and TG analyses. FT‐IR and NMR analyses confirmed the synthesis of poly(1‐octene‐co‐BMA) copolymers. SEM and AFM analyses demonstrated the wavy‐lamellar morphological structure of the copolymers. Thermogravimetric analysis revealed good thermal stability of poly(1‐octene‐co‐BMA) copolymers synthesized via RAFT mediated polymerization. The thermokinetic parameters were evaluated by adopting model‐free methods of Friedman and Flynn–Wall–Ozawa using the nonisothermal thermogravimetric data. The multivariate nonlinear regression analysis established the most appropriate kinetic model and the corresponding kinetic parameters of thermal decomposition of poly(1‐octene‐co‐BMA) copolymers were also calculated. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
