The rate of oxidation of Ge(II) chloride by large excess of ClO2? ions in HCl, NaCl and Na2SO4 mixed solutions was polarographically observed at various H2O+ and Cl? ion concentrations. The observed rate constant, kobs, is expressed by ko=Kobs/(ClO3?)={k1,(H+)+k2K1(Cl?)2+ K3K2(SO42?)} (H+)/{(H+)1+K1(Cl-)2 +K2(SO42?)} for the following reaction processes, The values were obtained aa k1=1.5410-3liter2 mole2? sec-1, k2=5.00×10-2liter2 mole2? sec-2 and k2=4.30×10-3liter2 mole2? sec-2, K1=1.80× 10-2, K2= 2.43×10-2 mole liter-1 at constant ionic strength I=0.50 M at 30°C.  相似文献

The presence of ceric and bromide ions catalyzes the isomerization of maleic acid (MA) to fumaric acid (FA) in aqueous sulfuric acid. A kinetic study of this bromine-catalyzed reaction was carried out. The reaction between ceric ion and maleic acid is first order with respect to Ce(IV). For [Ce(IV)]0=5.0×10?4 M, [H2SO4]0=1.2 M, μ=2.0 M (adjusted by NaClO4), and [MA]0=(0.5–1.0)M, the observed pseudo-first-order rate constant (k03) at 25° is k03=7.622×10?5 [MA]0/(1+0.205[MA]0). The reaction between ceric and bromide ions is first order with respect to Ce(IV). For [Ce(IV)]0=5.0×10?4 M, [H2SO4]0=1.2 M, μ=2.0 M, and [Br?]0=(0.025–0.150)M, the pseudo-first-order rate constant (k02) at 25° is k02= (4.313±0.095)x10?2[Br?]2+(2.060±0.119)x10?3[Br?]. The reaction of Ce(IV) with maleic acid and bromide ion is also first order with respect to Ce(IV). For [Ce(IV)]0=5.0×10?4 M, [MA]0=0.75 M, [H2SO4]0=1.2 M, μ=2.0 M, and [Br?]0= (0.025–0.150)M, the pseudo-first-order rate constant (k03) at 25° is k03= (5.286±0.045)x10?2[Br?]2+(3.568±0.056)x10?3[Br?]. For [Ce(IV)]0=5.0 × 10?4 M, [Br?]0=0.050 M, [H2SO4]0=1.2 M, μ=2.0 M, and [MA]0=(0.15–1.0)M at 25°, k03=(2.108×10?4+2.127×10?4[MA]0)/(1+0.205[MA]0). A mechanism is proposed to rationalize the results. The effect of temperature on the reaction rate was also studied. The energy barrier of Ce(IV)—Br? reaction is much less than that of Ce(IV)—MA reaction. Maleic and fumaric acids have very different mass spectra. The mass spectrum of fumaric acid exhibits a strong metastable peak at m/e 66.5.  相似文献

The equilibrium constant for the reaction CH2(COOH)2 + I3? ? CHI(COOH)2 + 2I? + H+, measured spectrophotometrically at 25°C and ionic strength 1.00M (NaClO4), is (2.79 ± 0.48) × 10?4M2. Stopped-flow kinetic measurements at 25°C and ionic strength 1.00M with [H+] = (2.09-95.0) × 10?3M and [I?] = (1.23-26.1) × 10?3M indicate that the rate of the forward reaction is given by (k1[I2] + k3[I3?]) [HOOCCH2COO?] + (k2[I2] + k4[I3?]) [CH(COOH)2] + k5[H+] [I3?] [CH2(COOH)2]. The values of the rate constants k1-k5 are (1.21 ± 0.31) × 102, (2.41 ± 0.15) × 101, (1.16 ± 0.33) × 101, (8.7 ± 4.5) × 10?1M?1·sec?1, and (3.20 ± 0.56) × 101M?2·sec?1, respectively. The rate of enolization of malonic acid, measured by the bromine scavenging technique, is given by ken[CH2(COOH)2], with ken = 2.0 × 10?3 + 1.0 × 10?2 [CH2(COOH)2]. An intramolecular mechanism, featuring a six-member cyclic transition state, is postulated to account for the results on the enolization of malonic acid. The reactions of the enol, enolate ion, and protonated enol with iodine and/or triodide ion are proposed to account for the various rate terms.  相似文献

The temperature-jump method has been used to determine the nickel(II)- and cobalt(II)-arginine complexation kinetics. In the pH range studied, the neutral form of the ligand, HL, is the attacking, as well as the complexed, ligand species. The reactions reported on are of the type where n = 1, 2, 3 and M is Ni or Co. At 25° and ionic strength 0.1M the association rate constants are: for nickel(II) k1 = 2.3 × 103(±20%), k2 = 2.4 × 104(±20%), k3 = 3.5 × 104(±40%) M?1 sec?1; for cobalt(II) k1 = 1.5 × 105(±20%), k2 = 8.7 × 105(±20%), k3 = 2.0 × 105(±40%) M?1 sec?1. Arginine binds to metal ions less well than homologous chelating agents due to the electrostatic repulsion arising from the positively charged terminus of the zwitterion. Kinetically, the effect appears in the association rate constants with nickel reactions more strongly influenced than cobalt.  相似文献

The activation energy parameters for the reaction of PdX (X=Cl?, Br?) in aqueous halide acid solution with thiourea (tu) and selenourea (seu) have been determined. High rates of reaction parallel low enthalpies and appreciable negative entropy of activation. The rate law in each case simplifies to kobs=k[L] where L=tu or seu, and only ligand-dependent rate constants are observed at 25°C. The ligand-dependent rate constants for the first identifiable step in the PdCl + X system is (9.1±0.1) × 103 M?1 sec?1 and (4.5±0.1) × 104 M?1 sec?1 for X=tu and seu, respectively, while for the PdBr + X system it is (2.0±0.1) × 104 M?1 sec?1 and (9.0±0.1) × 104 M?1 sec?1 for X=tu and seu, respectively.  相似文献

Abstract— Semimethylene blue was generated by reductive quenching of triplet methylene blue, 3MBH2+, with diphenylamine at pH 0.62–3.4. A Q-switched ruby laser flash-photolysis-kinetic spectro-photometric apparatus was used to characterize the absorption spectrum of semimethylene blue from 350 to 900 nm and a number of physical constants at 25°C with μ= 0.4 M and Cl? as the anion. The specific rate of quenching of 3MBH2+ by DPA is 2.8 × 109M?1 s?1 in 5% EtOH-95% water and 1.2×109M?1 s?1 in 50 v/v% aq. CH3CN. Corresponding efficiencies of net electron transfer are, respectively, 0.15 and 0.62. Spectral characteristics in 5% EtOH are, for MBH22±, λmax= 375 nm, ε375= 9000 M?1 cm?1; λmax= 880 nm, ε880= 12700 M?1 cm?1; for MBH±, λmax= 410 nm, ε410= 9800 M?1 cm?1, λmax= 880 nm, ε880= 33000 M?1 cm?1; for MBH± in 50 v/v% AN, λmax= 400 nm, ε400= 11000 M?1 cm?1 and λmax= 880 nm,ε880= 39000 M?1 cm?1. The pKa of MBH22ε calculated from the pH dependence of the absorption spectrum is 1.86 × 0.04 in 5% EtOH and 1.15 in 50 v/v% AN. Rate constants, kdecay, for reaction DPAH±+ with MBH22ε and MBH± in 5% EtOH are, respectively, 3.9 × 109 and 9.5 × 109M?1 s?1. The value of pKa of MBH22ε calculated from the dependence of kdecay on pH is 1.75 in 5% EtOH.  相似文献

The anilinepentacyanoferrate (II) complex has been characterized in aqueous solution. The complex exhibits a predominant ligand field transition at λmax = 415 nm with ?max = 494 M?1 cm?1. The corresponding Fe(III) complex displays a strong absorption at λmax = 700nm(?max = 1.61×104 M?1 sec?1) which can be assigned as a ligand to metal charge transfer transition. The rate constants of formation and dissociation for the Fc(II) complex are (3.14±0.18)×102 M?1W?1 and 0.985±0.005 sec?1, respectively, at μ = 0.10 M LiClO4, pH = 8 and T = 25°C. The cyclic voltammetry of the complex shows that a reversible redox process is observed with E1/2 value of 0.51±0.01 V vs. NHE at μ = 0.10 M LiClO4, pH = 8 and T = 25°C. The kinetic study of the oxidation of the Fe(II) complex by ferricyanide ion yielded the rate constant of the reaction ket = (1.43±0.04)x10 M sec?1 at μ = 0.10 M LiClO4, pH = 8 and T = 25°C.  相似文献

One unit of S(IV) (SO2 or SHO3?) is oxidized per 2 units of [NiIII(cyclam)] species to obtain sulfate. Kinetic analyses have been done by varying the acidities (0.013 ? [H+] ? 1.0 M) and halide concentrations (0.000 ? [X?] ? 0.012 M; X=Cl and Br) at constant ionic strength (μ = 1.0 M). The rate law that incorporates the [X?] and [H+] dependence is ?d[NiIII]T/dt=2k[NiIII]T[S(IV)]T where 2k={ka[H+] + kbK + kKX[H+] [X?] + kKXK[X?]} {[H+] + K}?1 {1 + KX[X?]}?1, here ka=87 ± 7 M?1 s?1, kb=(2.5 ± 0.5)×103 M?1 s?1 and pK = 1.8 ± 0.2. Rate constants ka and kb are attributed to the reactions of [NiIII(cyclam) (H2O)2]3+ with SO2 and SHO3?, respectively. Monohalo species apparent equilibrium constants KCl=(1600 ± 400) M?1 and KBr=(190 ± 20) M?1 and rate constants k=80 ± 8 M?1 s?1 and k = 140 ± 15 M?1 s?1 are ascribed to the protonated pathway, involving the [NiIII(cyclam) (H2O)X]2+ and SO2(aq) reaction pairs. The other two rate constants of k=(5 ± 1)×103 M?1 s?1 and k=(3.1 ± 0.5)×104 M?1 s?1, refer to the deprotonated pathway and are assigned to the [NiIII(cyclam) (H2O)X]2+ /SHO3? redox couple. A deuterium H2O / D2O isotope effect of 2.1–2.8 can be attributed partially to an equilibrium isotope effect at low acidity though a small kinetic isotope (2.5 ± 0.5) effect is evident for the dihydrogen sulfito pathway, ka. The kinetic isotope effect and the absence of sulfite radical scavenging effects are explained by a mechanism entailing migration of a hydride from sulfur to the NiIII center to produce a NiIII—H species, which rapidly comproportionates, and S(VI). © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

By allowing dimethyl peroxide (10?4M) to decompose in the presence of nitric oxide (4.5 × 10?5M), nitrogen dioxide (6.5 × 10?5M) and carbon tetrafluoride (500 Torr), it has been shown that the ratio k2/k2′ = 2.03 ± 0.47: CH3O + NO → CH3ONO (reaction 2) and CH3O + NO2 → CH3ONO2 (reaction 2′). Deviations from this value in this and previous work is ascribed to the pressure dependence of both these reactions and heterogeneity in reaction (2). In contrast no heterogeneous effects were found for reaction (2′) making it an ideal reference reaction for studying other reactions of the methoxy radical. We conclude that the ratio k2/k2′ is independent of temperature and from k1 = 1010.2±0.4M?1 sec?1 we calculate that k2′ = 109.9±0.4M?1 sec?1. Both k2 and k2′ are pressure dependent but have reached their limiting high-pressure values in the presence of 500 Torr of carbon tetrafluoride. Preliminary results show that k4 = 10.9.0±0.6 10?4.5±1.1M?1 sec?1 (Θ = 2.303RT kcal mole?1) and by k4 = 108.6±0.6 10?2.4±1.1M?1 sec?1: CH3O + O2 → CH2O + HO2 (reaction 4) and CH3O + t-BuH → CH3OH + (t-Bu) (reaction 4′).  相似文献

The ligands (L) bis (2-pyridyl) methane (BPM) and 6-methyl-bis (2-pyridyl)methane (MBPM) form the three complexes CuL2+, CuL, and Cu2L2H with Cu2+. Stability constants are log K1 = 6.23 ± 0.06, log K2 = 4.83 ± 0.01, and log K (Cu2L2H + 2H2+ ? 2 CuL2+) = ?10.99 ± 0.03 for BPM and 4.56 ± 0.02, 2.64 ± 0.02, and ?11.17 ± 0.03 for MBPM, respectively. In the presence of catalytic amounts of Cu2+, the ligands are oxygenated to the corresponding ketones at room temperature and neutral pH. With BPM and 2,4,6-trimethylpyridine (TMP) as the substrate and the buffer base, respectively, the kinetics of the oxygenation can be described by the rate law with k1 = (5.9 ± 0.2) · 10?13 mol l?1 s?1, k2 = (4.0 ± 0.6) · 10?4 mol?1 ls?1, k3 = (1.1 ± 0.1) · 10?12 mol l?1 s?1, and k4 = (9 ± 2) · 10?14 mol l?1 s?1.  相似文献

Manganese(II) is oxidized by ozone in acid solution, k=(1.5±0.2)×103 M−1 s−1 in HClO4 and k=(1.8±0.2)×103M−1 s−1 in H2SO4. The plausible mechanism is an oxygen atom transfer from O3 to Mn2+ producing the manganyl ion MnO2+, which subsequently reacts rapidly with Mn2+ to form Mn(III). No free OH radicals are involved in the mechanism. The spectrum of Mn(III) was obtained in the wave length range 200–310 nm. The activation energy for the initial reaction is 39.5 kJ/mol. Manganese(III) is reduced by hydrogen peroxide to Mn(II) with k(Mn(III)+H2O2)=2.8×103M−1 s−1 at pH 0–2. The mechanism of the reaction involving formation of the manganese(II)-superoxide complex and reaction of H2O2 with Mn(IV) species formed due to reversible disproportionation of Mn(III), is suggested. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Studies of the stoichiometry and kinetics of the reaction between hydroxylamine and iodine, previously studied in media below pH 3, have been extended to pH 5.5. The stoichiometry over the pH range 3.4–5.5 is 2NH2OH + 2I2 = N2O + 4I? + H2O + 4H+. Since the reaction is first-order in [I2] + [I3?], the specific rate law, k0, is k0 = (k1 + k2/[H+]) {[NH3OH+]0/(1 + Kp[H+])} {1/(1 + KI[I?])}, where [NH3OH+]0 is total initial hydroxylamine concentration, and k1, k2, Kp, and KI are (6.5 ± 0.6) × 105 M?1 s?1, (5.0 ± 0.5) s?1, 1 × 106 M?1, and 725 M?1, respectively. A mechanism taking into account unprotonated hydroxylamine (NH2OH) and molecular iodine (I2) as reactive species, with intermediates NH2OI2?, HNO, NH2O, and I2?, is proposed.  相似文献

The complex μ-TEPP-trans-bis[P(OEt)3Ru(NH3)4]2(PF6)4 has been prepared and characterized by microanalysis, vibrational and electronic spectroscopy (λmax=299 nm, ?=6.4 × 102 M?1 cm?1; λmax=262 nm, ?=8.6 × 102 M?1 cm?1), and cyclic voltammetry (E°'=+0.64 V versus S.C.E., 25°, μ=0.10 M NaCf3COO, CH+=1 × 10?3 M). In aqueous solutions, ([H+] > 1 × 10?4 M), the binuclear species undergoes hydrolysis yielding the mononuclear species trans-(Ru(NH3)4P(OEt)3(H2O)]2+ with a specific rate constant of 2.4 × 10?5 sec?1 at 25° δH#=84.5 kJ mol?1; δS#=?49.4 J mol?1 K?1.  相似文献

The decomposition of dimethyl peroxide (DMP) was studied in the presence and absence of added NO2 to determine rate constants k1 and k2 in the temperature range of 391–432°K: The results reconcile the studies by Takezaki and Takeuchi, Hanst and Calvert, and Batt and McCulloch, giving log k1(sec?1) = (15.7 ± 0.5) - (37.1 ± 0.9)/2.3 RT and k2 ≈ 5 × 104M?1· sec?1. The disproportionation/recombination ratio k7b/k7a = 0.30 ± 0.05 was also determined: When O2 was added to DMP mixtures containing NO2, relative rate constants k12/k7a were obtained over the temperature range of 396–442°K: A review of literature data produced k7a = 109.8±0.5M?1·sec?1, giving log k12(M?1·sec?1) = (8.5 ± 1.5) - (4.0 ± 2.8)/2.3 RT, where most of the uncertainty is due to the limited temperature range of the experiments.  相似文献

The spectrophotometric determination of the rate of iodine atom catalyzed geometrical isomerization of diiodoethylene in the gas phase from 502.8 to 609.1°K leads to a rate constant for the bimolecular reaction between I and trans-diiodoethylene of log kt?c(M?1 sec?1) = 8.85 ± 0.12 ? (11.01 ± 0.30)/θ. Estimates of the entropy and enthalpy change for the addition of I atoms to trans-diiodoethylene (process a.b) lead to log Ka.b(M?1) = ?2.99 ? 4.0/θ, and thus to log kc (sec?1) = log kt?c – log Kab = 11.8 ?7.0/θ for the rate constant for rotation about the single bond in the adduct radical. The theory for calculation of the rotation rate constant is presented and it is shown that while the exact value depends on the barrier height, a value of 6.8 kcal/mole for this quantity leads to log k (sec?1) = 11.8 ?6.7/θ. The activation energy points to a better value of the group contribution to heat of formation of the group C -(I)2(H)(C) than one based on bond additivity.  相似文献

Abstract

The stepwise complex formation between 2-amino-2-hydroxymethyl-1,3-propanediol (TRIS) with Co(II) and Mn(II) was studied by potentiometry at constant ionic strength 2.0 M (NaClO4) and T = (25.0 ± 0.1)°C, from pH measurements. Data of average ligand number (Bjerrum's function) were obtained from such measurements followed by integration to obtain Leden's function, F 0(L). Graphical treatment and matrix solution of simultaneous equations have shown two overall stability constants of mononuclear stepwise complexes for the Mn(II)/TRIS system (β1 = (5.04 ± 0.02) M?1 and β2 = (5.4 ± 0.5) M?2) and three for the Co(II)/TRIS system (β1 = (1.67 ± 0.02) × 102 M?1, β2 = (7.01 ± 0.05) × 103 M?2 and β3 = (2.4 ± 0.4) × 104 M?3). Slow spontaneous oxidation of Co(II) solutions by dissolved oxygen, accelerated by S(IV), occurs in a buffer solution TRIS/HTRIS+ 0.010/0.030 M, with a synergistic effect of Mn(II).  相似文献

The spectrocoulometric technique reported earlier is applied to verify the mechanism and to evaluate the contributions kBi of the individual bases to the total rate constant k of the hydrolysis of the tris (1,10-phenanthroline) iron(III) complex, Fe (phen)3+3. Both normal and “open-circuit” spectrocoulometric experiments are used. Partial rate constants for four bases in the acetate-buffered solutions are kH2O=(3.4±1.2) × 10?4s?1 (kH2O includes the H2O concentration), kOH=(1.20±0.06)×107 mol?1dm3s?1, kphen=(1.4±0.2) mol?1dm3s?1, kAc=(3.8±0.3)×10?2 mol?1dm3s?1, at 25°C and ionic strength 0.5 mol dm?3. The Fe(phen)3+3 hydrolysis, with (phen)2 (H2O) Fe-O-Fe (H2O) (phen)4+2 formation, is first order with respect to Fe (phen)3+3 and the bases present in the solution. The rate-determining step in the hydrolysis is the entry of a base to the coordinating sphere of the complex, as in the hydrolysis of the analogous 2,2′-bipyridyl complex.  相似文献

Abstract

The reversible oxygenation of the Co(II) complex of tris(2-aminoethyl)amine (TREN, L) has been studied in some detail. The equilibrium constant K O2 =1026.92 M?2 atm?1, corresponding to the quotient [H+] [L2Co2(O2) (OH)3+]/[Co2+]2 [L]2 PO2 was determined by potentiometric equilibrium measurements of hydrogen ion concentration. Values for the thermodynamic constants, ΔH° =–63 ± 9 kcal/mole and ΔS° =–100 ± 15 cal/deg. mol, were calculated from the temperature dependence of the equilibrium constant. Oxygen stoichiometry, measured with a polarographic sensor, indicated the formation of a binuclear (peroxo bridged) complex, and the potentiometric equilibrium data indicated the presence of a second, μ-hydroxo, bridge. Measurement of the kinetics of the fast reaction between the cobalt(II)-TREN complex and dioxygen gave the value of the second order rate constant for the formation of the dioxygen complex as k 1 =2.8 × 10+3 sec?1 mol?1. The first order rate constant for the decomposition of the dioxygen complex measured by stopped-flow was found to be k ?2 =0.7 sec?1. Kinetic and equilibrium data are discussed with respect to the probable structure and mechanism of formation of the dioxygen complex, and are compared with similar data previously reported for analogous complexes. The oxygen complex reported is unique with respect to its extremely slow rate of conversion to inert cobalt(III) complexes.  相似文献

The pyrolysis of n-propyl nitrate and tert-butyl nitrite at very low pressures (VLPP technique) is reported. For the reaction the high-pressure rate expression at 300°K, log k1 (sec?1) = 16.5 ? 40.0 kcal/mole/2.3 RT, is derived. The reaction was studied and the high-pressure parameters at 300°K are log k2(sec?1) = 15.8 ? 39.3 kcal/mole/2.3 RT. From ΔS1,?10 and ΔS2,?20 and the assumption E?1 and E?2 ? 0, we derive log k?1(M?1·sec?1) (300°K) = 9.5 and log k?2 (M?1·sec?1) (300°K) = 9.8. In contrast, the pyrolysis of methyl nitrite and methyl d3 nitrite afford NO and HNO and DNO, respectively, in what appears to be a heterogeneous process. The values of k?1 and k?2 in conjunction with independent measurements imply a value at 300°K for of 3.5 × 105 M?1·sec?1, which is two orders of magnitude greater than currently accepted values. In the high-pressure static pyrolysis of dimethyl peroxide in the presence of NO2, the yield of methyl nitrate indicates that the combination of methoxy radicals with NO2 is in the high-pressure limit at atmospheric pressure.  相似文献
