Abstract

The dissociation and the formation rates of the Sr 2+ - C222 cryptate in different dimethylsulf-oxide-acetonitrile mixtures have been studied spectrophotometrically using murexide as a metallochromic indicator. In all solvent mixtures used, the ratio of the rate constants for dissociation and formation of the cryptate was found to be in agreement with the formation constants obtained by an independent equilibrium spectrophotometric technique. The activation parameters E a, δH ? and δS ? for the formation and dissociation of the cryptate were determined from the temperature dependence of the corresponding rate constants, and found to be strongly solvent dependent. There is a linear relationship between the logarithm of the formation constant as well as the activation parameters and the mol fraction of acetonitrile in the mixed solvent.  相似文献

Abstract

Complexation of Li+ and Na+ with dibenzo-24-crown-8 has been studied in dimethylformamide-acetonitrile mixtures by means of a competitive spectrophotometric technique using murexide as metal ion indicator. Stabilities of the resulting 1:1 complexes were investigated at various temperatures and enthalpies and entropies of complexation were determined from the temperature dependence of the formation constants. Sodium forms a more stable complex with the crown ether than lithium. There is an inverse linear relationship between log Kf and the mole fraction of DMF in the solvent mixtures. The ΔH°-TΔS° plot of all thermodynamic data, obtained for both crown complexes in different solvent mixtures, shows a fairly good linear correlation, indicating the existence of an enthalpy-entropy compensation effect in complexation.  相似文献

Proton NMR spectroscopy was used to study the complexation reaction between lithium ion and 12-crown-4, 15-crown-5 and 18-crown-6 in a number of binary acetonitrile-nitrobenzene mixtures. In all cases the exchange between free and complexed crowns was fast on the NMR time scale and only a single population average1H signal was observed. Formation constants of the resulting 1:1 complexes in different solvent mixtures were determined by computer fitting of the chemical shift-mole ratio data. There is an inverse relationship between the complex stability and the amount of acetonitrile in the mixed solvent. It was found that, in all solvent mixtures used, 15-crown-5 forms the most stable complex with Li+ ion in the series.  相似文献

Inter- and intramolecular nuclear magnetic quadrupole relaxation measurements have been used to study the system methanol (CH3OH)+ N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF)+NaI at 25°C. The dynamic behavior of the solvent molecules was investigated, throughout the composition range of the binary mixtures, by means of 14 N relaxation of DMF and 2 H of methanol-d 1 (CH 3 OD). The intermolecular relaxation of 23 Na+ in pure DMF was used to obtain information about the symmetry of the solvent electric dipole arrangement in the solvation sphere of the ion. The investigation of preferential solvation around Na+ in the binary mixtures was carried out by means of 23 Na+ relaxation measurements using, for the first time, both the CH 3 OH/CD 3 OD and the DMF/DMF-d 7 dynamic isotope effect. The results show that, throughout the composition range, there is preferential solvation by DMF. Furthermore, the use of the isotope effects of both components allowed for the first time a basic check of the reliability of the method since we obtained two independent sets of data for the composition of the Na+ solvation shell in the mixtures. The consistency of the two separate data sets demonstrates that the application of the dynamic isotope effect represents a powerful tool in preferential solvation studies.  相似文献

Proton NMR spectroscopy was used to study the complexation reaction of 18-crown-6 (18C6) with K+, Rb+ and Tl+ ions in a number of binary dimethyl sulfoxide-nitrobenzene mixtures. In all cases, the exchange between free and complexed crowns was fast on the NMR time scale and only a single population average 1H signal was observed. Formation constants of the resulting 1:1 complexes in different solvent mixtures were determined by computer fitting of the chemical shift-mole ratio data. There is an inverse relationship between the complex stability and the amount of dimethyl sulfoxide in the mixed solvent. It was found that, in all solvent mixtures used, Rb+ ion forms the most stable complex with 18-crown-6 in the series.  相似文献

Abstract

Lithium complexes were prepared with phenylphosphinic and phenylphosphonic acids. The complexes were studied in the solid state using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy spectroscopy and in solution (methanol) using 1H, 13C, and 31P Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) spectroscopy; the most preferred structures of the complexes were determined by density functional theory (DFT) computational method. Although methanol has a strong solvation effect on lithium ions and ligands, which causes dissociation of the complexes, significant changes of the NMR spectra of the complexes (relative to those of the free ligands) were observed. The new spectroscopic results indicate the presence of the phenylphosphinic acid tautomer (I: C6H5PH(?O)OH) rather than that of phenyl-phosphorous acid (II: C6H5P(OH)2) in deuterated methanol showing PH/PD exchange. On the other hand, tautomer I predominates in the complex with lithium without showing PH/PD exchange. The DFT calculations predict that tautomer I is the preferred structure in the case of free ligand and lithium complex. The absence of a PH/PD exchange in the complex is due to the formation of a chelating complex, rather than of a simple salt between lithium ion and the two oxygen atoms of I, which prevent tautomerization of I into II. DFT calculations support the formation of lithium chelating complexes. The lithium ion was found to affect the spectroscopic properties of phenylphosphinic acid more dramatically than those of phenylphosphonic acid.  相似文献

Proton NMR was used to study the complexation reaction of Li+ and Na+ ions with 15-Crown-5 (15C5) in a number of binary acetonitrile (AN)-nitrobenzene (NB) mixtures at different temperatures. In all cases, the exchange between free and complexed 15C5 was fast on the NMR timescale and only a single population average 1H signal was observed. The formation constants of the resulting 1:1 complexes in different solvent mixtures were determined by computer fitting of the chemical shift mole ratio data. There is an inverse relationship between the complex stability and the amount of AN in the solvent mixtures. The enthalpy and entropy values for the complexation reaction were evaluated from the temperature dependence of the formation constants. In all the solvent mixtures studied, the resulting complex is enthalpy stabilized but entropy destabilized. Finally, the experimental results were compared with theoretical ones that were obtained from molecular modeling methods. Based on our results, it is most probable that Li+-15C5 in solvent stays in a rather nesting complex form with greater LogKf values, but Na+-15C5 forms a complete perching complex form with lower LogKf values.  相似文献

Thermodynamics of complexation of cesium cation by dibenzo-24-crown-8 was studied in three binary solvent mixtures: acetonitrile-nitromethane (AN/NM),N,N-dimethylformamide-nitromethane (DMF/NM) and acetonitrile-propylene carbonate (AN/PC) using the133Cs-NMR technique. In all cases the variation of the formation constant,K f, with the solvent composition was monotonic:K f increased as the mole-% of the solvent of low donicity was increased. The temperature dependence ofK f indicated that the complexes are generally enthalpy stabilized, but entropy destabilized. The enthalpy and entropy of complexation reactions are quite sensitive to the solvent composition. However, their variation with solvent composition was not monotonic but showed maxima or minima at the isosolvation points of the cation or the complexed cation. In all cases an enthalpy-entropy compensating effect was observed.  相似文献

Proton NMR was used to study the complexation reaction of Ag+ with octathia-24-crown-8 (OT24C8) in a number of binary dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO)–nitrobenzene (NB) mixtures at different temperatures. In all cases, the exchange between free and complexed OT24C8 was fast on the NMR time scale and only a single population average 1H signal was observed. The formation constants of the resulting 1:1 complexes in different solvent mixtures were determined by computer fitting of the chemical shift-mole ratio data. There is an inverse relationship between the complex stability and the amount of DMSO in the solvent mixtures. The enthalpy and entropy values for the complexation reaction were evaluated from the temperature dependence of formation constants. In all solvent mixtures studied, the resulting complex is enthalpy stabilized but entropy destabilized. The TΔS° versus ΔH° plot of all thermodynamic data obtained shows a fairly good linear correlation indicating the existence of enthalpy–entropy compensation in the complexation reaction.  相似文献

The complexation reactions between Ag+, Hg2+ and Pb2+ metal cations with aza-18-crown-6 (A18C6) were studied in dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO)–water (H2O) binary mixtures at different temperatures using the conductometric method. The conductance data show that the stoichiometry of the complexes in most cases is 1:1(ML), but in some cases 1:2 (ML2) complexes are formed in solutions. A non-linear behaviour was observed for the variation of log K f of the complexes vs. the composition of the binary mixed solvents. Selectivity of A18C6 for Ag+, Hg2+ and Pb2+ cations is sensitive to the solvent composition and in some cases and in certain compositions of the mixed solvent systems, the selectivity order is changed. The values of thermodynamic parameters (ΔH co, ΔS co) for formation of A18C6–Ag+, A18C6–Hg2+ and A18C6–Pb2+ complexes in DMSO–H2O binary systems were obtained from temperature dependence of stability constants and the results show that the thermodynamics of complexation reactions is affected by the nature and composition of the mixed solvents.  相似文献

The complexation reaction between uranyl (II) nitrate, and N-methyliminobis(methylenephosphonic acid) (MIDPH) was investigated in two different binary solvent mixtures of D2O-DMSO-d6 at various temperatures using 31P NMR spectroscopy. The exchange between the free ligand and the 1:1 complexed ligand was slow on the NMR timescale and two 31P NMR signals were observed. The formation constant of the resulting complex was evaluated from integration of the two 31P NMR signals. The values of thermodynamic parameters of the resulting complex (ΔH, ΔS and ΔG) were determined from the temperature dependence of the formation constants. In the two solvent mixtures studied, the resulting complex is enthalpy stabilized but entropy destabilized.  相似文献

The preparation and characterization of a series of octahedral complexes [SnF4L2] (L = (Me2N)3PO (1), L = (R2N)2P(O)F; R = Me (2); Et (3) or L = R2NP(O)F2; R = Me (4); Et (5)) are described. These new adducts have been characterised by multinuclear (19F, 31P and 119Sn) NMR, IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The NMR data particularly the 19F NMR spectra showed that the complexes exist in solution as mixtures of cis and trans isomers. The solution behaviour of the complexes studied by variable temperature NMR in the presence of excess ligand indicated that, unlike in the SnCl4 analogues, the ligand exchange at room temperature is slow for 13 and fast only for 4 and 5. The metal–ligand exchange barriers in [SnF4L2] and [SnCl4L2] systems were estimated and compared. The results indicate that in addition to the difference in the Lewis acidity between SnF4 and SnCl4 the nature of the substituents (fluorine atoms) on the phosphorus atom of the ligand can contribute considerably to the lability of the complex obtained.  相似文献

Abstract

Li FT-NMR was used for the detection of different lithium species in human serum. Two serum samples from mentally ill patients undergoing lithium treatment were studied. Both samples gave spectra with a major peak corresponding to aqueous lithium ion and a much smaller peak at ?0.3 ppm relative to the lithium ion peak. Two serum samples from normal persons were spiked with lithium but the resulting spectra showed only the lithium ion peak.  相似文献

Abstract

The measurements of dielectric constant of a number of binary and ternary mixtures of butyl acetate, butyl alcohol, quinoline, pyridine and o-cresol in carbon tetrachloride and benzene have been made at 35°C. Molecular interaction of these aromatic compounds have been studied in terms of variations in parameters; ‘dipole moment’ (μ), ‘interaction dielectric constant’ (δ?), ‘molecular polarisation’ (P) and ‘excess polarisation’ (PE ). The dipole moment has been calculated using Hysken's method, the interaction dielectric constant utilizing the equation of ideal mole fraction law and excess polarisation using the theory of Erap and Glasstone. The positive values of δ?12 for binary mixtures of quinoline and butyl acetate in carbon tetrachloride and benzene have been attributed to the formation of charge transfer complexes. The negative values of δ?12 and δ?123 with pyridine suggest that charge transfer interaction is weakened by pyridine in its binary and ternary mixtures. The plot between the excess polarisation value and the product of mole fractions yielded a straight line passing through the origin showing the formation of charge transfer complexes.  相似文献

The complexation reactions between Mg2+, Ca2+, Sr2+ and Ba2+ cations with the macrocyclic ligand, 18-Crown-6 (l8C6) in water–methanol (MeOH) binary systems as well as the complexation reactions between Ca2+ and Sr2+ cations with 18C6 in water–ethanol (EtOH) binary mixtures have been studied at different temperatures using conductometric method. The conductance data show that the stoichiometry of all the complexes is 1:1. It was found that the stability of 18C6 complexes with Mg2+, Ca2+, Sr2+ and Ba2+ cations is sensitive to solvent composition and in all cases, a non-linear behaviour was observed for the variation of log K f of the complexes versus the composition of the mixed solvents. In some cases, the stability order is changed with changing the composition of the mixed solvents. The selectivity order of 18C6 for the metal cations in pure methanol is: Ba2+ > Sr2+ > Ca2+ > Mg2+. The values of thermodynamic parameters (Δ H c ° and Δ S c °) for formation of 18C6–Mg2+, 18C6–Ca2+, 18C6–Sr2+ and 18C6–Ba2+complexes were obtained from temperature dependence of the stability constants. The obtained results show that the values of (Δ H c ° and Δ S c °) for formation of these complexes are quite sensitive to the nature and composition of the mixed solvent, but they do not vary monotonically with the solvent composition. This revised version was published online in July 2005 with a corrected issue number.  相似文献

Abstract

2-(2′-Pyridyl)benzimidazole (pybzim = LH) coordinates to iron(II) as a bidentate and forms the tris-ligated complex, [Fe(pybzim)3]2+ as isolated in the solid. Titration of [Fe(pybzim)3]2+ with base demonstrates the successive deprotonation of the imino hydrogens of the coordinated ligands. Protonation constants for the free ligand, pybzim (Iog10 K H = 11.33) and the complex, [Fe(pybzim)3]2+ (log10 K H 1 = 9.58, log10 K H 2 = 8.13 and log10 K H 3 = 6.97) were measured in 30% (v/v) H2O/EtOH. Results show that coordination to iron(II) increases the acidity of the imino hydrogen of the ligand. Spin-crossover behaviour of the complex were studied in different solvents ME, AC, AN, NM, NB, DMF, DMSO and ANL. The complex shows strong spin-crossover behaviour which is solvent dependent. Values of the spin-equilibrium constant (K sc) and the associated thermodynamic parameters (ΔH sc = 18.1–21.3 kJ mol?1 and δS sc = 69.6–84.4JK?1 mol?1) were calculated. An increase of the enthalpy is observed with increasing donor number (DN) of the solvent.  相似文献

Mercury cyanide complexes of alkyldiamines (16), [Hg(L)(CN)2] (where L?=?en (1,2-diaminoethane), pn (1,3-diaminopropane), N-Me-en, N, N′-Me2-en, N, N′-Et2-en, and N, N′-ipr2-en), have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 13C, and 15N solution NMR in DMSO-d6, as well as 13C, 15N, and 199Hg solid-state NMR spectroscopy. Complexes 1 and 2 have been studied computationally, built and optimized by GAUSSIAN03 using DFT at B3LYP level with LanL2DZ basis set. Binding modes of en and bn (where bn?=?1,4-diaminobutane) toward Hg(CN)2 are completely different. Complexes with en and pn show chelating binding to Hg(II), while bn behaves as a bridging ligand to form a polymeric structure, [Hg(CN)2-bn] [B.A. Al-Maythalony, M. Fettouhi, M.I.M. Wazeer, A.A. Isab. Inorg. Chem. Commun., 12, 540 (2009).]. The solution 13C NMR of the complexes demonstrates a slight shift of the ?C≡N (0.9 to 2?ppm) and ?C–NH2 (0.25 to 6?ppm) carbon resonances, while the other resonances are relatively unaffected. 15N labeling studies have shown involvement of alkyldiamine ligands in coordination to the metal. The principal components of the 13C, 15N, and 199Hg shielding tensors have been determined from solid-state NMR data. Antimicrobial activity studies show that the complexes exhibit higher antibacterial activities toward various microorganisms than Hg(CN)2.  相似文献

7Li NMR measurements were employed to monitor the stoichiometry andstability of Li+ ion complexes with 12-crown-4 (12C4), 15-crown-5 (15C5), benzo-15-crown-5 (B15C5) l8-crown-6 (18C6), dicyclohexano-18-crown-6 (DC18C6) and dibenzo-18-crown-6 (DB18C6) in binary acetone-nitrobenzene mixtures of varying composition. In all cases studied, the variation of 7Li chemical shift with the crown/Li+ mole ratio indicated the formation of 1:1 complexes. The formation constants of the resulting complexes were evaluated from computer fitting of the mole ratio data to an equation that relates the observed chemical shifts to the formation constant. In all solvent mixtures used, the stabilities of the resulting 1:1 complexes varied in the order15C5 > B15C5 > DC18C6 > 18C6 > 12C4 >DB18C6. It was found that,in the case of all complexes, an increase in the percentage of acetone in thesolvent mixtures significantly decreased the stability of the complexes.  相似文献

The behaviour of 1-(2-bromoethyl) 4-nitrobenzene (1), N,N,N-triethyl-2-(4-nitrophenyl)ethanaminium bromide (2) and N,N-diethyl-N-[2-(4-nitrophenyl)ethyl]octan-1-aminium bromide (3) in the OH-induced elimination reactions with formation of 1-nitro-4-vinylbenzene in mixtures of DMSO/H2O or CH3CN/H2O has been investigated. With all three substrates an increase in dipolar aprotic solvent content implies a limited increase of the second-order rate constant k OH up to ≅605, and then an exponential increase is observed. The variation of activation parameters ΔH # and dGS #, measured in DMSO/H2O mixtures, is parallel for 1 and 2. This similar behaviour of 1 and 2 with respect to variation in solvent composition is evidence that it is not possible to use this technique of solvent effect for the mechanistic diagnosis of elimination reactions.  相似文献

The kinetics of the anation reaction of cis-diaquo-bis-oxalatochromate(III) ion by DL-alanine has been studied spectrophotometrically in the pH range 3.8 to 7.3, where DL-alanine remains in zwitterionic form. A second-order rate law has been established. Reaction rates in three different ethanol-water mixtures were measured. In each solvent medium the anation rate is higher as compared to water exchange reaction at a particular temperature. The activation parameters (gDH# and ΔS#) in different ethanol-water mixtures were obtained from Eyring plots. ΔG#(ΔH#TΔS #) values were calculated in each solvent medium and compared with that of the isotopic water exchange process. A reaction mechanism involving theS N2 path has been suggested.  相似文献
