In this study, a post-annealing-free, adhesive nickel/phosphorous (Ni/P) layer was deposited on a 3-[2-(2-aminoethylamino)ethylamino] propyl-trimethoxysilane-modified (ETAS-modified) silicon (Si) surface through an electroless deposition process catalyzed by a novel polyvinylpyrrolidone-capped palladium nanocluster (PVP-nPd). ETAS was covalently bonded on the Si surface, whereas the amino groups on ETAS bridged with the palladium core in the PVP-nPd clusters. Because of the mentioned two effects, the deposited Ni/P layer showed superior adhesion on the Si wafer without the requirement of conventional annealing treatment. Compared with the Ni/P films deposited on bare and ETAS-modified Si surfaces by using commercial Sn/Pd colloids, the adhesion of the Ni/P film catalyzed by PVP-nPd on the ETAS-modified Si wafer improved 4- and 2-fold, respectively.  相似文献

Sol-gel processed PbTiO3 thin films have been deposited by spin coating onto different subtrates; Si[111], Si/Al, Si/SiO2/Cr/Pt, MgO[100], SrTiO3[100] and sapphire. Interactions between the substrate and PbTiO3 films after heat treatment have been studied by X-ray diffraction and Rutherford Back Scattering. When deposited onto sapphire and Si[111], PbTiO3 films exhibit a preferred orientation with (101) perpendicular to the substrate. These films become oriented along (100) onto MgO and (001) onto SrTiO3[100] substrates. A strong channelling effect is observed by the RBS technique when the film is oriented along the c axis on SrTiO3[100] suggesting that these films are epitaxially grown. The diffusion of metal atoms during the thermal treatment gives rise to the formation of lead silicate on Si[111] substrates. As a result a pyrochlore phase is formed. Lead titanate films on Si/SiO2/Cr/Pt and Si/Al substrates are polycrystalline and do not exhibit any texture.  相似文献

Nineteen monolayered Cd arachidate films were deposited on float glass substrate coated with Si and Ni over-layers. Two layers have been chosen with very different surface free energies. Melting behavior of films were studied using variable temperature X-ray specular reflectivity and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy measurements. In conformity with earlier studies, melting of the multilayer precede by a transition from distorted hexagonal to hexaticlike phase. However, the transition temperature to hexaticlike phase as well as the melting temperature depend significantly on the type of layer. Both the transition temperatures are higher for the multilayer deposited on Ni layer as compared to those for the film deposited on Si layer. These results can be understood in terms of different surface free energies of Ni and Si layers. Further, in case of Ni layer, transition to hexaticlike phase is relatively sharper. Even in the molten state there is a significant difference in the structure of the Cd arachidate film on two layers; packing density of molecules in molten state is lower in case of substrate with higher surface free energy. These results suggest that the surface free energy of substrate plays a significant role in melting behavior of Langmuir–Blodgett films.  相似文献

Hybrid particles of poly(methyl methacrylate) and carboxymethylcellulose, PMMA/CMC, were attached to atomic force microscopy cantilevers and probed against concanavalin A (ConA) films formed either on Si wafers or on CMC substrate. Regardless of the substrate, the approach curves showed different inclinations, indicating that the probe first touches a soft surface and then a hard substrate. The distance corresponding to the soft layer was estimated as 20 +/- 10 nm and was attributed to the CMC layers attached to the hybrid particles surfaces. Probing PMMA/CMC particles against ConA adsorbed onto Si wafers yielded retract curves with a sawlike pattern. The average range of adhesion forces (maximum pull-off distance) and mean adhesion force were estimated as 100 +/- 40 nm and -11 +/- 7 nN, respectively, evidencing multiple adhesions between CMC sugar residues and ConA. However, upon probing against ConA adsorbed onto CMC substrates, the mean pull-off distance and mean adhesion force were reduced to 37 +/- 18 nm and -3 +/- 1 nN, respectively, indicating that the ConA molecules immobilized onto CMC films are less available to interact with the hybrid particle than the ConA molecules adsorbed onto Si wafers. Another set of experiments, where PMMA/CMC particle probed against ConA-covered Si wafers in the presence of mannose, showed that the addition of mannose led to a considerable decrease in the mean adhesion force from -11 +/- 7 to -3 +/- 1 nN. Two hypotheses have been considered to explain the effect caused by mannose addition. The first suggested the desorption of ConA from the substrate so that the hybrid particle would probe bare Si wafer (weak adhesion). The second proposed the adsorption of mannose onto the ConA layer so that mannose layer would probe against another mannose layer, leading to low adhesion forces. In situ ellipsometry and capillary electrophoresis have been applied to check the hypotheses.  相似文献

We report a novel method for the immobilization of Tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum (Alq3) onto poly(4-vinylpyridine) (P4VP) thin polymer films by UV irradiation cross-linking. The polymer films were prepared by spin-coating of P4VP onto cleaned silicon wafer surface followed by UV irradiation. The thicknesses of the polymer thin films were measured by ellipsometry with different irradiation times. The immobilization of Alq3, orientation and the surface activity were followed using photoluminescence and UV-visible spectroscopy. The surface morphology was investigated by using field emission scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. Patterning of Alq3 on P4VP film was obtained using photolithography technique. Our experimental results show that the cross-linked P4VP thin film is a universal surface modifier.  相似文献

SiO2-ZrO2 based nanostructured multilayers films have been prepared by sol–gel processing from metallorganic precursors by low temperature inorganic polymerization reactions. Simultaneous gelation of both precursors was realized. Homogeneous and transparent films were obtained at room temperature by dip- and spin-coating on glass and silicon wafer substrates. Samples with successively deposited layers (1–3 layers) and successive thermal treatments have been also studied. Each deposited layer was thermally treated for 1 h at 300°C. The coatings were characterized by XRD, spectroellipsometry (SE), UV-VIS spectroscopy and AFM methods. The influence of substrates, number of coatings and number of thermal treatments on the optical and structural properties of the films was established. The thickness of three deposited SiO2-ZrO2 layers is about 496 nm on glass substrates and 413 nm on the silicon wafer substrate. The films deposited on glass are more porous than those deposited on silicon. The properties of optical waveguide prepared from SiO2-ZrO2 layers on silicon substrates will be discussed.  相似文献

The combination of sol–gel methodology with rapid prototyping (RP) produces functionalized 3D structures with potential applications in various fields. However, this combination has been little explored. In this paper, we used the sol–gel method to deposit vanadium isopropoxide onto polyamide (PA12) constructed by RP and pretreated with acetic acid, to obtain a functionalized substrate with new thermal, physical, and chemical properties. Vanadium isopropoxide (one, five, or ten layers) was deposited onto the PA12 piece by dip-coating. We characterized the coated PA12 by thermal analyses, X-ray diffraction, and infrared spectroscopy, which revealed that V=O and Si–O–Si groups exist on the PA12 surface. PA12 coating with vanadium isopropoxide enhanced the decomposition temperature. Differential scanning calorimetry revealed increased fusion and decomposition enthalpy as a function of the PA12 coating. Therefore, deposition of vanadium isopropoxide onto PA12 pretreated with acetic acid improves the thermal stability of PA12 prepared by RP.  相似文献

Despite the central role of light absorption and the subsequent generation of free charge carriers in organic and hybrid organic-inorganic photovoltaics, the precise process of this initial photoconversion is still debated. We employ a novel broadband (UV-Vis-NIR) transient absorption spectroscopy setup to probe charge generation and recombination in the thin films of the recently suggested hybrid material combination poly(3-hexylthiophene)/silicon (P3HT/Si) with 40 fs time resolution. Our approach allows for monitoring the time evolution of the relevant transient species under various excitation intensities and excitation wavelengths. Both in regioregular (RR) and regiorandom (RRa) P3HT, we observe an instant (<40 fs) creation of singlet excitons, which subsequently dissociate to form polarons in 140 fs. The quantum yield of polaron formation through dissociation of delocalized excitons is significantly enhanced by adding Si as an electron acceptor, revealing ultrafast electron transfer from P3HT to Si. P3HT/Si films with aggregated RR-P3HT are found to provide free charge carriers in planar as well as in bulk heterojunctions, and losses are due to nongeminate recombination. In contrast for RRa-P3HT/Si, geminate recombination of bound carriers is observed as the dominant loss mechanism. Site-selective excitation by variation of pump wavelength uncovers an energy transfer from P3HT coils to aggregates with a 1/e transfer time of 3 ps and reveals a factor of 2 more efficient polaron formation using aggregated RR-P3HT compared to disordered RRa-P3HT. Therefore, we find that polymer structural order rather than excess energy is the key criterion for free charge generation in hybrid P3HT/Si solar cells.  相似文献

Gold nanoparticles heavily functionalized with oligonucleotides have been used in a variety of DNA detection methods. The optical properties of three-dimensional aggregates of Au nanoparticles in solution or deposited onto suitable surfaces have been analyzed to detect hybridization processes of specific DNA sequences as possible alternatives to fluorescent labeling methods. This paper reports on the preparation of gold nanoparticles directly deposited onto the surface of silicon (Si) and sapphire (Al2O3) substrates by a physical methodology, consisting in the thermal evaporation of a thin Au film and its successive annealing. The method guarantees the preparation of monodispersed single-crystal Au nanoparticles with a strong surface plasmon resonance (SPR) peak centered at about 540 nm. We show that the changes of SPR excitation before and after DNA functionalization and subsequent hybridization of Au nanoparticles immobilized onto Si and Al2O3 substrates can be exploited to fabricate specific biosensors devices in solid phase.  相似文献

Spray pyrolysis process has been used to deposit highly transparent and conducting films of tin doped indium oxide onto glass substrates. The electrical, optical and structural properties have been investigated as a function of various deposition parameters namely dopant concentrations, temperature and nature of substrates. X-ray diffraction patterns have shown that deposited films are polycrystalline without second phases and have preferred orientation [400]. Indium tin oxide layers with small resistivity value around 7.10−5Ω.cm and transmission coefficient in the visible and near IR range of about 85–90 % have been easily obtained.  相似文献

We introduce a novel dry wafer bonding concept designed for permanent attachment of micromolded polymer structures to surface functionalized silicon substrates. The method, designed for simultaneous fabrication of many lab-on-chip devices, utilizes a chemically reactive polymer microfluidic structure, which rapidly bonds to a functionalized substrate via"click" chemistry reactions. The microfluidic structure consists of an off-stoichiometry thiol-ene (OSTE) polymer with a very high density of surface bound thiol groups and the substrate is a silicon wafer that has been functionalized with common bio-linker molecules. We demonstrate here void free, and low temperature (< 37 °C) bonding of a batch of OSTE microfluidic layers to a silane functionalized silicon wafer.  相似文献

In this study, the maleimide‐thiophene copolymer‐functionalized graphite oxide sheets (PTM21‐GOS) and carbon nanotubes (PTM21‐CNT) were developed for polymer solar cell (PSC) applications. The grafting of PTM21‐OH onto the CNT and GO sheets was confirmed using FTIR spectroscopy. PTM21‐CNT and PTM21‐GOS exhibited excellent dispersal behavior in organic solvents. Better thermal stability was observed for PTM21‐CNT and PTM21‐GOS as compared with that for PTM21‐OH. In addition, the optical band gaps of PTM21‐GOS and PTM21‐CNT were lower than that of PTM21‐OH. We incorporated PTM21‐GOS and PTM21‐CNT individually into poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT)/[6,6]‐phenyl‐C61‐butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) blends for use as photoconversion layers of PSCs. Good distributional homogeneity was observed for PTM21‐GOS or PTM21‐CNT in the P3HT/PCBM blend film. The UV–vis absorption peaks of the blend films red‐shifted slightly upon increasing the content of PTM21‐GOS or PTM21‐CNT. The band gap energies and LUMO/HOMO energy levels of the P3HT/PTM21‐GOS and P3HT/PTM21‐CNT blend films were slightly lower than those of the P3HT film. The conjugated polymer‐functionalized PTM21‐GOS and PTM21‐CNT behaved as efficient electron acceptors and as charge‐transport assisters when incorporated into the photoactive layers of the PSCs. PV performance of the PSCs was enhanced after incorporating PTM21‐GOS or PTM21‐CNT in the P3HT/PCBM blend. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part B: Polym Phys, 2013  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Discotic liquid crystals (DLCs) are considered as fascinating systems due to their unique property of self-assembly to yield different columnar structures. DLCs are organic semiconductors and create pathways for the development of numerous optical and electrical devices. The thin films of DLCs can be considered as low dimensional system which can exhibit remarkable optical and physical properties. In this article, we present a review on ultrathin films of some interesting DLC molecules at air–water and air–solid interfaces. The Langmuir monolayer and Langmuir–Blodgett films of DLC molecules are extensively studied. The ultrathin films of DLC molecules can yield highly anisotropic layer wherein the molecular orientation and aggregation can have large impact on the physicochemical properties of the film. Different surface phases with different molecular orientations as function of surface density and temperature can be obtained by forming the Langmuir monolayer of the DLC molecules at the air–water interface. The Langmuir monolayer in a particular phase can be deposited onto the active area of a device layer-by-layer by employing a highly controlled Langmuir–Blodgett technique. Here, we report some interesting results related on molecular orientation of the DLC molecules at different interfaces. Such aggregation of DLC molecules in ultrathin films may find applications in thin film-based electro-optical devices.  相似文献

With the aim of elucidating the surface-induced molecular ordering in regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) monolayer films, we have controlled the intermolecular interactions at the interface between P3HT and the insulator substrate by using self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) functionalized with two kinds of groups (-NH2 and -CH3). We have found that, depending on the surface properties of such modified insulator substrates, the P3HT chains in the monolayer films can adopt two different conformations (edge-on and face-on). This surprising variation in chain conformation arises because of the specific interactions of the P3HT chains with the modified insulator substrates, which can be explained in terms of the following factors: the unshared electron pairs of the SAM end groups (in the -NH2 system), the pi-H interactions between the thienyl backbone bearing pi systems and the H (hydrogen) atoms of the SAM end groups, and interdigitation between the alkyl chains of P3HT and the alkyl chains of the SAMs (in the -NH2 system).  相似文献

Porphyrin-functionalized oligo(phenyleneethynylene)s (OPE) are promising molecules for molecular electronics applications. Three such molecules () with the common structure P-OPE-AG (P and AG are a porphyrin and anchor group, respectively) and different anchor groups, viz. an acetyl protected thiol, -S-COCH(3) (), an acetyl protected thiol with methylene linker, -CH(2)-S-COCH(3) (), and a trimethylsilylethynyl group, -C[triple bond, length as m-dash]C-Si(CH(3))(3) () have been synthesized and the corresponding self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) on Au(111) substrates have been prepared. The integrity and structural properties of these films were studied by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy. The results suggest that the films formed from have a high orientational order with an almost upright orientation and dense packing of the molecular constituents, i.e. represent a high quality SAM. In contrast, molecule formed disordered molecular layers on Au, even though the molecule-surface bonding (thiolate) is the same as in the case of molecule . This suggests that the methylene linker in molecule has a strong impact on the quality of the resulting film, so that a well-ordered SAM cannot be formed. The silane system, , is also able to bind to the gold surface but the resulting SAM has a poor quality, being significantly disordered and/or comprised of strongly inclined molecules. The above results suggest that the nature of the anchor group along with a possible linker is an important parameter which, to a high extent, predetermines the entire quality of OPE-based molecular layers.  相似文献

We demonstrate that TiO(x) nanocomposite films fabricated using electrostatic layer-by-layer (LbL) assembly improve the power conversion efficiency of photovoltaic cells compared to conventional TiO(x) films fabricated via the sol-gel process. For this study, titanium precursor/poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH) multilayer films were first deposited onto indium tin oxide-coated glass to produce TiO(x) nanocomposites (TiO(x)NC). The specific effect of the LbL processed TiO(x) on photovoltaic performance was investigated using the planar bilayer TiO(x)NC and highly regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) solar cells, and the P3HT/LbL TiO(x)NC solar cells showed a dramatic increase in power efficiency, particularly in terms of the short current density and fill factor. The improved efficiency of this device is mainly due to the difference in the chemical composition of the LbL TiO(x)NC films, including the much higher Ti(3+)/Ti(4+) ratio and the highly reactive facets of crystals as demonstrated by XPS and XRD measurement, thus enhancing the electron transfer between electron donors and acceptors. In addition, the grazing incidence wide-angle X-ray scattering (GIWAXS) study revealed the presence of more highly oriented P3HT stacks parallel to the substrate on the LbL TiO(x)NC film compared to those on the sol-gel TiO(x) films, possibly influencing the hole mobility of P3HT and the energy transfer near and at the interface between the P3HT and TiO(x) layers. The results of this study demonstrate that this approach is a promising one for the design of hybrid solar cells with improved efficiency.  相似文献

Aggregate dispersions of P3HT in two series of solvent mixtures, chloroform:dichloromethane and toluene:dichloromethane, are used to study the impact of the evaporation velocity and film thickness on the P3HT films processed using two spin‐coating speeds (1000 rpm and 2000 rpm). The structural order and surface morphology were investigated with UV/Vis absorption spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy techniques. There is no evidence that the characteristics of the liquid phase P3HT dispersions impact the structures of the films, which is in agreement with a previous study of drop cast P3HT films that were dried over much longer time periods. An association is observed between the extent of aggregation in the liquid phase and the thickness and surface roughness parameters of the films. However, the structural order does not correlate with the thickness of the films, which was previously reported for polymer films processed from amorphous polymer solutions in pure organic solvents. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Pentacene films deposited on self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) bearing different terminal functional groups have been studied by reflection-absorption IR, grazing angle XRD, NEXAFS, AFM, and SEM analyses. A film with pentacene molecules nearly perpendicularly oriented was observed on Au surfaces covered with an SAM of alkanethiol derivative of X-(CH2)(n)-SH, with X = -CH(3), -COOH, -OH, -CN, -NH(2), C(60), or an aromatic thiol p-terphenylmethanethiol. On the other hand, a film with the pentacene molecular plane nearly parallel to the substrate surface was found on bare Au surface. A similar molecular orientation was found in thinner ( approximately 5 nm) and thicker (100 nm) deposited films. Films deposited on different surfaces exhibit distinct morphologies: with apparently smaller and rod-shaped grains on clean bare Au surface but larger and islandlike crystals on SAM-modified surfaces. X-ray photoemission electron microscopy (X-PEEM) was used to analyze the orientation of pentacene molecules deposited on a SAM-patterned Au surface. With the micro-NEXAFS spectra and PEEM image analysis, the microarea-selective orientation control on Au was characterized. The ability to control the packing orientation in organic molecular crystals is of great interest in fabricating organic field effect transistors because of the anisotropic nature of charge transport in organic semiconducting materials.  相似文献

For verifying the influence of donor–acceptor supramolecules on photovoltaic properties, different hybrids were designed and used in organic solar cells. In this respect, reduced graphene oxide (rGO) was functionalization with 2‐thiophene acetic acid (rGO‐f‐TAA) and grafted with poly(3‐dodecylthiophene) (rGO‐g‐PDDT) and poly(3‐thiophene ethanol) (rGO‐g‐PTEt) to manipulate orientation of poly(3‐hexylthiophene) (P3HT) assemblies. Face‐on, edge‐on, and flat‐on orientations were detected for assembled P3HTs on rGO and its functionalized and grafted derivatives, respectively. Alteration of P3HT orientation from face‐on to flat‐on enhanced current density (J sc), fill factor (FF), and power conversion efficiency (PCE) and thus J sc = 7.11 mA cm?2, FF = 47%, and PCE = 2.14% were acquired. By adding phenyl‐C71‐butyric acid methyl ester (PC71BM) to active layers composed of pre‐designed P3HT/rGO, P3HT/rGO‐f‐TAA, P3HT/rGO‐g‐PDDT, and P3HT/rGO‐g‐PTEt hybrids, photovoltaic characteristics further improved, demonstrating that supramolecules appropriately mediated in P3HT:PC71BM solar cells. Phase separation was more intensified in best‐performing photovoltaic systems. Larger P3HT crystals assembled onto grafted rGOs (95–143 nm) may have acted as convenient templates for the larger and more intensified phase separation in P3HT:PCBM films. The best performances were reached for P3HT:P3HT/rGO‐g‐PDDT:PCBM (J sc = 9.45 mA cm?2, FF = 54%, and PCE = 3.16%) and P3HT:P3HT/rGO‐g‐PTEt:PCBM (J sc = 9.32 mA cm?2, FF = 53%, and PCE = 3.11%) photovoltaic systems. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
