In this paper for the first time we show that in the complex Hilbert space with the conjugation operator a classification of von Neumann algebras is possible. Similar classification is known for Krein spaces. Projectors (idempotents) often serve as elements of quantum logic. In operator theories projectors play the role of elements from which bounded operators are constructed. For one special case we show that for any projector from von Neumann algebra which acts in a separable Hilbert space one can always find conjugation operator J adjoined to this algebra for which the projector is self-adjoint.  相似文献

Summary For a free boundary problem for a linear hyperbolic system in one space dimension with two unknowns we discuss a numerical algorithm which combines the method of characteristics and the front tracking method. We consider a linear multiperson differential game with integral constraints on the control of the players. The pursuit is assumed terminated if the solution of at least one of the equations describing the game reaches the origin at some instant of time.In the case of one pursuer, we obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for terminating pursuit from all points of space. Summary. A model for the phase separation of a multi-component alloy with non-smooth free energy is considered. An error bound is proved for a fully practical piecewise linear finite element approximation using a backward Euler time discretization. An iterative scheme for solving the resulting nonlinear algebraic system is analysed. Finally numerical experiments with three components in one and two space dimensions are presented. In the one dimensional case we compare some steady states obtained numerically with the corresponding stationary solutions of the continuous problem, which we construct explicitly. In this paper we consider a hyperbolic-type differential equation with L p -coefficients in a three-dimensional space. For this equation we study the Goursat problem with nonclassical boundary constraints not requiringmatched conditions. We prove the equivalence of these boundary conditions to classical ones in the case when one seeks for a solution to the stated problem in an anisotropic space introduced by S. L. Sobolev. In addition, we prove the correct solvability of the Goursat problem by the method of integral equations.  相似文献

For a nonlinear pseudoparabolic equation with one space dimension we consider its initial boundary value problem on an interval. The boundary condition on the left end is of Dirichlet type, the right end condition is replaced by a nonlocal one. Because it is given by an integral, the function involved could exhibit singularities, which distinguishes this nonlocal condition from its Dirichlet counterpart. Based on an elliptic estimate and an iteration method we established the well-posedness of solutions in a weighted Sobolev space.  相似文献

In this paper, we mainly research a multifractal formalism in a probability space.The first objective of this paper is to define a multifractal generalisation of the Hausdorff measure and the packing measure. We explore the properties of the multifractal Hausdorff measure and the multifractal packing measure in a probability space, and invesigate the relative results of multifractal spectra functions in a probability space. In this paper we consider the transversal deflections of a dynamically-coupled Von Kármán system consisting of a plate which has a beam attached to its one edge. The problem is considered in the form of a non-linear evolution problem in a product space. We show the existence of a unique local solution by following a fractional powers approach to first construct a “weak” solution in a larger space. Regularity properties for this solution yield a unique local strong solution for the original boundary-value problem. This approach entails the introduction of fractional powers of a pair of matrices.  相似文献

In this paper, we study helices which are orbits of one parameter families of isometries on a symmetric space of rank one. We introduce the notion of structure torsion fields for helices, show the necessary and sufficient condition that they are generated by some Killing vector fields, and study their moduli space. In this note we discuss uniform integrability of random variables. In a probability space, we introduce two new notions on uniform integrability of random variables, and prove that they are equivalent to the classic one. We propose a new least squares finite element method to solve the Stokes problem with two sequential steps. The approximation spaces are constructed by the patch reconstruction with one unknown per element. For the first step, we reconstruct an approximation space consisting of piecewise curl-free polynomials with zero trace. By this space, we minimize a least squares functional to obtain the numerical approximations to the gradient of the velocity and the pressure. In the second step, we minimize another least squares functional to give the solution to the velocity in the reconstructed piecewise divergence-free space. We derive error estimates for all unknowns under both $L^2$ norms and energy norms. Numerical results in two dimensions and three dimensions verify the convergence rates and demonstrate the great flexibility of our method.  相似文献

We consider a semilinear heat equation in one space dimension, with a periodic source at the origin. We study the solution, which describes the equilibrium of this system and we prove that, as the space variable tends to infinity, the solution becomes, exponentially fast, asymptotic to a steady state. The key to the proof of this result is a Harnack type inequality, which we obtain using probabilistic ideas.  相似文献

We present an alternative proof of a characterization, due to M. Lauzon and S. Treil, of subspaces with a common complement in a separable Hilbert space. Our approach is motivated by known results concerning the relative position of two subspaces in a Hilbert space. As byproducts we obtain a simple example of a double triangle subspace lattice which is not similar to an operator double triangle and a characterization of pairs of subspaces in generic position which are not completely asymptotic to one another.   相似文献

For a class of quasilinear parabolic systems with nonlinear Robin boundary conditions we construct a compact local solution semiflow in a nonlinear phase space of high regularity. We further show that a priori estimates in lower norms are sufficient for the existence of a global attractor in this phase space. The approach relies on maximal Lp-regularity with temporal weights for the linearized problem. An inherent smoothing effect due to the weights is employed for obtaining gradient estimates. In several applications we can improve the convergence to an attractor by one regularity level.  相似文献

We consider a lower bounded function on a complete metric space. For this function, we obtain conditions, including Caristi’s conditions, under which this function attains its infimum. These results are applied to the study of the existence of a coincidence point of two mappings acting from one metric space to another. We consider both single-valued and set-valued mappings one of which is a covering mapping and the other is Lipschitz continuous. Special attention is paid to the study of a degenerate case that includes, in particular, generalized contraction mappings.  相似文献

Recently a lot of research has been done on hypercyclicity of a bounded linear operator on a Banach space, based on the hypercyclicity criterion obtained by Kitai in 1982, and independently by Gethner and Shapiro in 1987. By combining this criterion with one extra condition, Montes-Rodríguez obtained in 1996 a sufficient condition for the operator to have a closed infinite dimensional hypercyclic subspace, with a very technical proof. Since then, this result has been used extensively to generate new results on hypercyclic subspaces. In the present paper, we give a simple proof of the result of Montes-Rodríguez, by first establishing a few elementary results about the algebra of operators on a Banach space.  相似文献

Weak convergence with respect to a space of twice continuously differentiable test functions is established for a discretisation of a heat equation with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions in one dimension, forced by a space-time Brownian motion. We are interested in circuit simulation including distributed semiconductor models. The circuit itself is modeled by the modified nodal analysis. The stationary drift diffusion equations are used to describe the semiconductors. The complete system is then a partial differential-algebraic system. We discretize it first in space with finite elements and the Scharfetter-Gummel discretization. The resulting semi-discrete system can be analyzed as a differential-algebraic equation with properly stated leading term. We present topological index one criteria. They coincide with previous results for the non-discretized partial differential-algebraic equation. For the time discretization we use standard BDF methods (implicit Gear formulas). Finally we derive a convergence estimate for the whole partial differential-algebraic system close to equilibrium.  相似文献

In this article we study invariance properties of shift-invariant spaces in higher dimensions. We state and prove several necessary and sufficient conditions for a shift-invariant space to be invariant under a given closed subgroup of \mathbb Rd{\mathbb {R}^d}, and prove the existence of shift-invariant spaces that are exactly invariant for each given subgroup. As an application we relate the extra invariance to the size of support of the Fourier transform of the generators of the shift-invariant space. This work extends recent results obtained for the case of one variable to several variables.  相似文献
