Polypyrrole films on fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO)‐coated glass substrate were prepared in situ by placing FTO/glass substrates where pyrrole was polymerized by methyl orange‐ferric chloride complex. The atomic force microscopy image indicated growth of acicular nanorods of polypyrrole. These films exhibited catalytic activity towards I3/I redox couple and have been investigated for counter electrode application in dye‐sensitized solar cell (DSSC). The fabricated DSSC with N719 dye/TiO2 as photoanode, and PPy/FTO as counter electrode shows ~1.7% efficiency.  相似文献

The ternary iron‐group thiospinels of metal diindium sulfides (MIn2S4, M=Fe, Co, Ni) with a vertically aligned nanosheet array structure are fabricated through an in situ solvothermal method on F‐doped tin oxide (FTO) substrates, which are employed as one type of platinum (Pt)‐free counter electrodes (CEs) in structure‐dependent dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). A DSSC assembled with ternary CoIn2S4 CE achieves an photoelectric conversion efficiency (PCE) of 8.83 %, outperforming than that of FeIn2S4 (7.18 %) and NiIn2S4 (8.27 %) CEs under full sunlight illumination (100 mW cm−2, AM 1.5 G), which is also comparable with that of the Pt CE (8.19 %). Putting aside that the interconnected nanosheet array provides fast electron transfer and electrolyte diffusion channels, the highest PCE of CoIn2S4 based DSSC results from its largest specific surface area (144.07 m2 g−1), providing abundant active sites and the largest electron injection efficiency from CE to electrolyte.  相似文献

Novel phenoxazine dyes are successfully introduced as sensitizers into dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSCs) with cobalt‐based electrolyte. In sensitizers with triphenylamine (TPA) groups recombination from electrons in the TiO2 conduction band to the cobalt(III) species is suppressed. The effect of the steric properties of the phenoxazine sensitizers on the overall device performance and on recombination and regeneration processes is compared. Optimized DSCs sensitized with IB2 having two TPA groups in combination with tris(2,2′‐bipyridyl) cobalt(II/III) yield efficiencies of 6.3 %, similar to that of IB3 , which is equipped with mutiple alkoxy groups. TH310 with only one TPA group gives lower efficiency and open circuit voltage, while IB1 without TPA groups performs even worse. These results demonstrate that both TPA groups on the IB2 are needed for an efficient blocking effect. These results reveal a possible new role for TPA units in DSC sensitizer design.  相似文献

(Dibenzoylmethanato)boron difluoride derivatives containing triphenylamine moieties were synthesized as a new type of electron‐donor/π‐acceptor system. These new compounds exhibited long‐wavelength absorptions in the UV/Vis spectra, and reversible oxidation and reduction waves in cyclic voltammetry experiments. Their amphoteric redox properties are based on their resonance hybrid forms, in which a positive charge is delocalized on the triphenylamine moieties and a negative charge is localized on the boron atoms. Molecular orbital (MO) calculations indicate that their HOMO and LUMO energies vary with the number of phenylene rings connected to the difluoroboron‐chelating ring. This is useful for optimizing the HOMO and LUMO levels to an iodine redox (I?/I3?) potential and a titanium dioxide conduction band, respectively. Dye‐sensitized solar cells fabricated by using these compounds as dye sensitizers exhibited solar‐to‐electric power conversion efficiencies of 2.7–4.4 % under AM 1.5 solar light.  相似文献

Luminescence downshifting (LDS) of light can be a practical photon management technique to compensate the narrow absorption band of high‐extinction‐coefficient dyes in dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Herein, an optical analysis on the loss mechanisms in a reflective LDS (R‐LDS)/DSSC configuration is reported. For squaraine dye (550–700 nm absorption band) and CaAlSiN3:Eu2+ LDS material (550–700 nm emission band), the major loss channels are found to be non‐unity luminescence quantum efficiency (QE) and electrolyte absorption. By using an ideal LDS layer (QE=100 %), a less absorbing electrolyte (Co‐based), and antireflection coatings, approximately 20 % better light harvesting is obtained. If the absorption/emission band of dye/LDS is shifted to 800 nm, a maximal short‐circuit current density (Jsc) of 22.1 mA cm?2 can be achieved. By putting the LDS layer in front of the DSSC (transmissive mode), more significant loss channels are observed, and hence a lower overall efficiency than the R‐LDS configuration.  相似文献

Quasi‐solid state dye‐sensitized solar cells (QS‐DSSC) containing poly (methyl methacrylate‐co‐acrylonitrile) [P (MMA‐co‐AN)] gel electrolytes were fabricated. By tuning AN molar percentage in P (MMA‐co‐AN), the optimized polymeric gel electrolyte for fabricating QS‐DSSC can be obtained. QS‐DSSC containing polymeric gel electrolyte with 45 mol.% AN in P(MMA‐co‐AN) shows higher energy conversion efficiency than that of QS‐DSSCs containing polymeric gel electrolytes with either pure PMMA or PAN. So it presents an effective way to improve the photovoltaic performance of QS‐DSSC by tuning the components of polymeric gelling agent. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Three electron donor‐?? bridge‐electron acceptor (D‐π‐A) organic dyes bearing two carboxylic acid groups were applied to dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSC) as sensitizers, in which one triphenylamine or modified triphenylamine and two rhodanine‐3‐acetic acid fragments act as D and A, respectively. It was found that the introduction of t‐butyl or methoxy group in the triphenylamine subunit could lead to more efficient photoinduced intramolecular charge transfer, thus improving the overall photoelectric conversion efficiency of the resultant DSSC. Under global AM 1.5 solar irradiation (73 mW·cm?2), the dye molecule based on methoxy‐substituted triphenylamine achieved the best photovoltaic performance: a short circuit photocurrent density (Jsc) of 12.63 mA·cm?2, an open circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.55 V, a fill factor (FF) of 0.62, corresponding to an overall efficiency (η) of 5.9%.  相似文献

Quasi-solid-state electrolytes were fabricated with mesoporous silica SBA-15 as a framework material. Ionic conductivity measurements revealed that SBA-15 can enhance the conductivity of the quasi-solid-state electrolyte. The diffusion coefficients of polyiodide ions such as Ⅰ3ˉ and Ⅰ5ˉ which were confirmed by Raman spectroscopic measurement, were about twice larger than that of I-. The optimized photoenergy conversion efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC) with the quasi-solid-state electrolyte was 4.3% under AM 1.5 irradiation at 75 mW·cm^-2 light intensity.  相似文献

We investigate the ultrafast dynamics of the photoinduced electron transfer between surface‐adsorbed indoline D149 dye and porous ZnO as used in the working electrodes of dye‐sensitized solar cells. Transient absorption spectroscopy was conducted on the dye in solution, on solid state samples and for the latter in contact to a I?/I3? redox electrolyte typical for dye‐sensitized solar cells to elucidate the effect of each component in the observed dynamics. D149 in a solution of 1:1 acetonitrile and tert‐butyl alcohol shows excited‐state lifetimes of 300±50 ps. This signature is severely quenched when D149 is adsorbed to ZnO, with the fastest component of the decay trace measured at 150±20 fs due to the charge‐transfer mechanism. Absorption bands of the oxidized dye molecule were investigated to determine regeneration times which are in excess of 1 ns. The addition of the redox electrolyte to the system results in faster regeneration times, of the order of 1 ns.  相似文献

New dipolar sensitizers containing an ethyl thieno[3,4‐b]thiophene‐2‐carboxylate (ETTC) entity in the conjugated spacer have been synthesized in two isomeric forms. These compounds were used as the sensitizers of n‐type dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). The best conversion efficiency (5.31 %) reaches approximately 70 % of the N719‐based (7.41 %) DSSC fabricated and measured under similar conditions. The ETTC‐containing compounds exhibit a bathochromic shift of the absorption compared to their thiophene congeners due to the quinoid effect, however, charge‐trapping at the ester group of ETTC was found to jeopardize the electron injection and lower the cell efficiency. Charge trapping is alleviated as the ester group of ETTC is replaced with a hydrogen atom, as evidenced from the theoretical computation.  相似文献

Poly(n‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) and its nanocomposite with exfoliated montmorillonite (MMT) were prepared by soap‐free emulsion polymerization and individually applied to gel the electrolyte systems for the dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Each exfoliated MMT nanoplatelet had a thickness of ~ 1 nm, carried ~ 1.8 cation/nm2, and acted like a two‐dimensional electrolyte. The DSSC with the LiI/I2/tertiary butylpyridine electrolyte system gelled by this polymer nanocomposite had higher short‐circuit current density (Jsc) compared to that gelled by the neat PNIPAAm. The former has a Jsc of 12.6 mA/cm2, an open circuit voltage (Voc) of 0.73 V, and a fill factor (FF) of 0.59, which harvested 5.4% electricity conversion efficiency (η) under AM 1.5 irradiation at 100 mW/cm2, whereas the latter has Jsc = 7.28 mA/cm2, Voc = 0.72 V, FF = 0.60, and η = 3.17%. IPCE of the nanocomposite‐gelled DSSC were also improved. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy of the DSSCs revealed that the nanocomposite‐gelled electrolytes significantly decreased the impedances in three major electric current paths of DSSCs, that is, the resistance of electrolytes and electric contacts, impedance across the electrolytes/dye‐coated TiO2 interface, and Nernstian diffusion within the electrolytes. The results were also consistent with the increased molar conductivity of nanocomposite‐gelled electrolytes. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 46: 47–53, 2008  相似文献

Two novel tris‐heteroleptic Ru–dipyrrinates were prepared and tested as sensitizers in the dye‐sensitized solar cell (DSSC). Under AM 1.5 sunlight, DSSCs employing these dyes achieved power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of 3.4 and 2.2 %, substantially exceeding the value achieved previously with a bis‐heteroleptic dye (0.75 %). As shown by electrochemical measurements and DFT calculations, the improved PCEs stem from the synthetically tuned electronic structure, which affords more negative excited state redox potentials and favorable electron injection into the TiO2 conduction band. Electron injection was quantified by nanosecond transient absorption spectroscopy, which revealed that the highest injection yield is achieved with the dye that acts as the strongest photoreductant.  相似文献

Herein, we report four metal‐free organic polymethacrylates (In‐In‐BzI)PMA , (Ac‐In‐BzI)PMA , (TPA‐In‐BzI)PMA , and (Py‐In‐BzI)PMA with pendant chromophores donor‐π‐conjugated‐acceptor (D‐π‐A) molecular framework as photosensitizers for dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). In which the donor‐acceptor units are attached by an indole‐chalcone extending side chain to inhibit back electron transfer and charge recombination; the π‐linker component contains varied chalcone‐based substituents to enhance the sunlight‐harvesting ability of the solar device. Photon‐current cells based on the DSSC format were fabricated using the polymers as sensitizers. The DSSC device assembled using (TPA‐In‐BzI)PMA exhibits a considerably better IPCE peak and JV response, with an overall power conversion efficiency of 3.70% under the illumination of AM 1.5G (100 mW cm–2). © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new series of acetylene‐bridged phenothiazine‐based di‐anchoring dyes have been synthesized, fully characterized, and used as the photoactive layer for the fabrication of conventional dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Tuning of their photophysical and electrochemical properties using different π‐conjugated aromatic rings as the central bridges has been demonstrated. This molecular design strategy successfully inhibits the undesirable charge recombination and prolongs the electron lifetime significantly to improve the power conversion efficiency (η ), which was proven by the detailed studies of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and open‐circuit voltage decay (OCVD). Under a standard air mass (AM) 1.5 irradiation (100 mW cm−2), the DSSC based on the dye with phenyl bridging unit exhibits the highest η of 7.44 % with open‐circuit photovoltage (V oc) of 0.796 V, short‐circuit photocurrent density (J sc) of 12.49 mA cm−2 and fill factor (ff) of 0.748. This η value is comparable to that of the benchmark N719 under the same conditions.  相似文献

A series of novel metal‐free organic dyes containing the thiazolo[5,4‐d]thiazole moiety were designed and synthesized for quasi‐solid‐state dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). Different alkoxy chains were introduced into the electron donor part of the dye molecules for comparison. The optical, electrochemical, and photovoltaic properties for all sensitizers were systematically investigated. It was found that the sensitizers with the different alkoxy groups have similar photophysical and electrochemical properties, such as absorbance and energy levels, owing to their close chemical structures. However, the quasi‐solid‐state DSSCs based on the resulting sensitizers exhibit different performance parameters. The quasi‐solid‐state DSSC based on sensitizer FNE74 with two octyloxy chains possessed the highest solar energy conversion efficiency of 5.10 % under standard AM 1.5G sunlight illumination without the use of coadsorbant agents.  相似文献

New porphyrin sensitizers based on donor–π‐acceptor (D‐π‐A) approach have been designed, synthesized, characterized by various spectroscopic techniques and their photovoltaic properties explored. N,N′‐Diphenylamine acts as donor, the porphyrin is the π‐spacer, and either carboxylic acid or cyanoacryclic acid acts as acceptor. All compounds were characterized by using 1H NMR spectroscopy, ESI‐MS, UV–visible emission spectroscopies as well as electrochemical methods. The presence of aromatic groups between porphyrin π‐plane and acceptor group push the absorption of both Soret and Q‐bands of porphyrin towards the red region. The electrochemical properties suggests that LUMO of these sensitizers above the TiO2 conduction band. Finally, the device was fabricated using liquid redox electrolyte (I?/I3?) and its efficiency was compared with that of a leading sensitizer.  相似文献

We have synthesized eco‐friendly, economic, and equally efficient polysulfobetaine‐based gel electrolyte to the alternative of liquid electrolyte in the fabrication of dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) for the first time. This nitrogen‐rich and highly conductive polysulfobetaine was synthesized by an easy and facile method without the use of any catalyst and explored for its DSSC application. The synthesized polymer gel electrolyte exhibited good ionic conductivity about 6.8 × 10?3 Scm?1 at ambient temperatures. DSSCs were fabricated based on this polysulfobetaine gel electrolyte and studied for their performance based on photovoltaic parameters. The DSSC photovoltaic results were appreciable and are Voc = 0.82 V, Jsc = 11.49 mA/cm2, FF = 66%, and PCE = 6.26% at 1 sun intensity. These values are slightly lower than conventional liquid electrolyte‐based DSSC shown as Voc = 0.78 V, Jsc = 12.90 mA/cm2, FF = 69%, and PCE = 7.07%, both at 100 mWcm?2. Conductivity and photovoltaic parameters of the device reveals that as prepared polysulfobetaine‐based polymer gel electrolyte may be useful in the fabrication of DSSC and other electrochemical devices. Four organic D–A –π‐A‐featured sensitizers (TQ1, TQ2, IQ1, and IQ2) have been studied for high‐efficiency dye‐sensitized solar cells (DSSCs). We employed an indoline or a triphenylamine unit as the donor, cyanoacetic acid as the acceptor/anchor, and a thiophene moiety as the conjugation bridge. Additionally, an electron‐withdrawing quinoxaline unit was incorporated between the donor and the π‐conjugation unit. These sensitizers show an additional absorption band covering the broad visible range in solution. The contribution from the incorporated quinoxaline was investigated theoretically by using DFT and time‐dependent DFT. The incorporated low‐band‐gap quinoxaline unit as an auxiliary acceptor has several merits, such as decreasing the band gap, optimizing the energy levels, and realizing a facile structural modification on several positions in the quinoxaline unit. As demonstrated, the observed additional absorption band is favorable to the photon‐to‐electron conversion because it corresponds to the efficient electron transitions to the LUMO orbital. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) Bode plots reveal that the replacement of a methoxy group with an octyloxy group can increase the injection electron lifetime by a factor of 2.4. IQ2 and TQ2 can perform well without any co‐adsorbent, successfully suppress the charge recombination from TiO2 conduction band to I3? in the electrolyte, and enhance the electron lifetime, resulting in a decreased dark current and enhanced open circuit voltage (Voc) values. By using a liquid electrolyte, DSSCs based on dye IQ2 exhibited a broad incident photon‐to‐current conversion efficiency (IPCE) action spectrum and high efficiency (η=8.50 %) with a short circuit current density (Jsc) of 15.65 mA cm?2, a Voc value of 776 mV, a fill factor (FF) of 0.70 under AM 1.5 illumination (100 mW cm?2). Moreover, the overall efficiency remained at 97 % of the initial value after 1000 h of visible‐light soaking.  相似文献

A novel class of β‐functionalized push–pull zinc opp ‐dibenzoporphyrins were designed, synthesized, and utilized as sensitizers for dye‐sensitized solar cells. Spectral, electrochemical, and computational studies were systematically performed to evaluate their spectral coverage, redox behavior, and electronic structures. These porphyrins displayed much broader spectral coverage and more facile oxidation upon extension of the π conjugation. Free‐energy calculations and femtosecond transient absorption studies (charge injection rate in the range of 1011 s−1) suggested efficient charge injection from the excited singlet state of the porphyrin to the conduction band of TiO2. The power conversion efficiency (η ) of YH3 bearing acrylic acid linkers (η =5.9 %) was close to that of the best ruthenium dye N719 (η =7.4 %) under similar conditions. The superior photovoltaic performance of YH3 was attributed to its higher light‐harvesting ability and more favorable electron injection and collection, as supported by electrochemical impedance spectral studies. This work demonstrates the exceptional potential of benzoporphyrins as sensitizers for dye‐sensitized solar cells.  相似文献

We describe the preparation and properties of bilayers of graphene- and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) as an alternative to conventionally used platinum-based counter electrode for dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC). The counter electrodes were prepared by a simple and easy-to-implement double self-assembly process. The preparation allows for controlling the surface roughness of electrode in a layer-by-layer deposition. Annealing under N2 atmosphere improves the electrode's conductivity and the catalytic activity of graphene and MWCNTs to reduce the I3 species within the electrolyte of the DSSC. The performance of different counter-electrodes is compared for ZnO photoanode-based DSSCs. Bilayer electrodes show higher power conversion efficiencies than monolayer graphene electrodes or monolayer MWCNTs electrodes. The bilayer graphene (bottom)/MWCNTs (top) counter electrode-based DSSC exhibits a maximum power conversion efficiency of 4.1 % exceeding the efficiency of a reference DSSC with a thin film platinum counter electrode (efficiency of 3.4 %). In addition, the double self-assembled counter electrodes are mechanically stable, which enables their recycling for DSSCs fabrication without significant loss of the solar cell performance.  相似文献
