The magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) stagnation point flow of Casson nanofluid over a nonlinear stretching sheet in the presence of velocity slip and convective boundary condition is examined. In this analysis, various effects such as velocity ratio, viscous dissipation, heat generation/absorption and chemical reaction are accentuated. Possessions of Brownian motion and thermophoresis are also depicted in this study. A uniform magnetic field as well as suction is taken into account. Suitable similarity transformations are availed to convert the governing nonlinear partial differential equations to a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations and then series solutions are secured using a homotopy analysis method (HAM). Notable accuracy of the present results has been obtained with the earlier results. Impact of distinct parameters on velocity, temperature, concentration, skin friction coefficient,Nusselt number and Sherwood number is canvassed through graphs and tabular forms.  相似文献

The analysis of a viscous fluid flow and heat transfer is carried out under the influence of a constant applied magnetic field over a curved stretching sheet. Heat transfer analysis is carried out for two heating processes, namely, prescribed surface temperature (PST) and prescribed heat flux (PHF). The equations governing the flow are modeled in a curvilinear coordinate system (r, s, z). The nonlinear partial differential equations are then transformed to nonlinear ordinary differential equations by using similarity transformations. The obtained system of equations is solved numerically by a shooting method using Runge-Kutta algorithm. The interest lies in determining the influence of dimensionless radius of curvature on the velocity, temperature, skin friction, and rate of heat transfer at the wall prescribed by the Nusselt number. The effects of Hartmann number are also presented for the fluid properties of interest.  相似文献

In this article, we investigate the MHD tangent hyperbolic fluid flow along a stretching sheet with suction/injection effect at the boundary. The governing nonlinear partial differential equations are transformed into a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations using the similarity transformation developed by the Lie group analysis. The transformed non-dimensional ordinary differential equations are solved numerically by a shooting technique. The impacts of the governing parameters on the fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics are investigated and discussed, with the help of graphical representations.  相似文献

This paper presents the buoyancy effects on the magneto-hydrodynamics stagnation point flow of an incompressible, viscous, and electrically conducting nanofluid over a vertically stretching sheet. The impacts of an induced magnetic field and viscous dissipation are taken into account. Both assisting and opposing flows are considered. The overseeing nonlinear partial differential equations with the associated boundary conditions are reduced to an arrangement of coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations utilizing similarity transformations and are then illuminated analytically by using the optimal homotopy investigation strategy(OHAM).Graphs are introduced and examined for different parameters of the velocity, temperature, and concentration profile.Additionally, numerical estimations of the skin friction, local Nusselt number, and local Sherwood number are explored using numerical values.  相似文献

In this paper we investigate the three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) rotating flow of a viscous fluid over a rotating sphere near the equator. The Navier-Stokes equations in spherical polar coordinates are reduced to a coupled system of nonlinear partial differential equations. Self-similar solutions are obtained for the steady state system, resulting from a coupled system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations. Analytical solutions are obtained and are used to study the effects of the magnetic field and the suction/injection parameter on the flow characteristics. The analytical solutions agree well with the numerical solutions of Chamkha et al. [31]. Moreover, the obtained analytical solutions for the steady state are used to obtain the unsteady state results. Furthermore, for various values of the temporal variable, we obtain analytical solutions for the flow field and present through figures.  相似文献

A direct method is presented for determining the uncertainty in reservoir pressure, flow, and net present value (NPV) using the time-dependent, one phase, two- or three-dimensional equations of flow through a porous medium. The uncertainty in the solution is modelled as a probability distribution function and is computed from given statistical data for input parameters such as permeability. The method generates an expansion for the mean of the pressure about a deterministic solution to the system equations using a perturbation to the mean of the input parameters. Hierarchical equations that define approximations to the mean solution at each point and to the field covariance of the pressure are developed and solved numerically. The procedure is then used to find the statistics of the flow and the risked value of the field, defined by the NPV, for a given development scenario. This method involves only one (albeit complicated) solution of the equations and contrasts with the more usual Monte-Carlo approach where many such solutions are required. The procedure is applied easily to other physical systems modelled by linear or nonlinear partial differential equations with uncertain data.  相似文献

Theoretical and numerical outcomes of the non-Newtonian Casson liquid thin film fluid flow owing to an unsteady stretching sheet which exposed to a magnetic field, Ohmic heating and slip velocity phenomena is reported here. The non-Newtonian thermal conductivity is imposed and treated as it vary with temperature. The nonlinear partial differential equations governing the non-Newtonian Casson thin film fluid are simplified into a group of highly nonlinear ordinary differential equations by using an adequate dimensionless transformations. With this in mind, the numerical solutions for the ordinary conservation equations are found using an accurate shooting iteration technique together with the Runge-Kutta algorithm. The lineaments of the thin film flow and the heat transfer characteristics for the pertinent parameters are discussed through graphs. The results obtained here detect many concern for the local Nusselt number and the local skin-friction coefficient in which they may be beneficial for the material processing industries. Furthermore, in some special conditions, the present problem has an excellent agreement with previously published work.  相似文献

A three-dimensional mathematical model is developed to examine the flow of nonlinear thermal radiation Oldroyd-B nanofluid past a bidirectional linearly stretched surface in a porous medium. The flow is induced by temperature dependent thermal conductivity, chemical reaction and convective heat and mass conditions. Novel characteristics of Brownian motion and thermophoresis are accompanied by magnetohydrodynamic and heat generation/absorption.Self-similar transformations are employed to convert the system of nonlinear partial differential equations to a system of ordinary differential equations with high nonlinearity and are solved by strong analytic technique named as Homotopy Analysis method(HAM). Effects of varied arising parameters on involved distributions are reflected through graphical illustrations. From this study, it is perceived that strong magnetic field hinders the fluid's motion and leads to rise in temperature that eventually lowers heat transfer rate from the surface. Further, decrease in heat transfer rate is also observed for enhanced values of thermal radiation parameter. To validate our results, a comparison with already published paper in limiting case is also given and results are found in excellent oncurrence; hence reliable results are being presented.  相似文献

In this study, the effects of variable fluid properties on heat transfer in MHD Casson fluid melts over a moving surface in a porous medium in the presence of the radiation are examined. The relevant similarity transformations are used to reduce the governing equations into a system of highly nonlinear ordinary differential equations and those are then solved numerically using the Runge–Kutta–Fehlbergmethod. The effects of different controlling parameters, namely, the Casson parameter, melting and radiation parameters, Prandtl number, magnetic field, porosity, viscosity and the thermal conductivity parameters on flow and heat transfer are investigated. The numerical results for the dimensionless velocity and temperature as well as friction factor and reducedNusselt number are presented graphically and discussed. It is found that the rate of heat transfer increases as the Casson parameter increases.  相似文献

Focus of the present analysis is on the stagnation point flow of hybrid nanofluid with inclined magnetic field over a moving cylinder. The extended version of two models (e.g. Xue model and Yamada-Ota model for hybrid nanofluids) are considered in this study). A mathematical model of hybrid nanofluid flow is developed under certain flow assumptions. Boundary layer approximations are also utilized to model a system of partial differential equations. The systems of partial differential equations are further converted to dimensionless systems of ordinary differential equations by means of suitable similarity transformations. A numerical solution is obtained by applying bv4c technique. Effects of variation in physical parameters involved are depicted through graphs. Skin friction coefficient and Nusselt number are highlighted through tables. Our main objective is to investigate the heat transfer rate on the surface of the nonlinear stretching cylinder. The results of Xue model and Yamada-Ota model for the hybrid nanofluid due to nonlinear stretching cylinder are computed for comparison. In both cases, velocity and temperature profiles are best compared to the decay results.  相似文献

Analysis is carried out to study the convection heat transfer in an upper convected Maxwell fluid at a non-isothermal stretching surface. This is a generalization of the paper by Sadeghy et al. [21] to study the effects of free convection currents, variable thermal conductivity and the variable temperature at the stretching surface. Unlike in Sadeghy et al., here the governing nonlinear partial differential equations are coupled. These coupled equations are transformed in to a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations and are solved numerically by a finite difference scheme (known as the Keller-Box method) and the numerical results are presented through graphs and tables for a wide range of governing parameters. The results obtained for the flow and heat transfer characteristics reveal many interesting behaviors that warrant further study of nonlinear convection heat transfer.  相似文献

The current study centralizes on unsteady free convection slip flow of Casson fluid past a vertical permeable plate with Hall current, radiative heat flux, and variable suction. The nonlinear convection is subjected to quartic order. Perturbation method is used to convert the non-linear coupled partial differential equation of the momentum and energy to a system of ordinary differential equations. The dimensionless governing equations are solved analytically for velocity and temperature profiles. The graphs are plotted for sundry parameters for variations in the distinct flow fields w.r.t distance from the plate. Variation in the skin friction for the axial and transverse cases are presented in the form of graphs for various parameters. It is observed that with the increase in the order of non-linear convection and value of radiation parameter, the velocity field increases in Casson fluid. The increase in heat absorption parameter and Prandtl number decreases the temperature profile and increase in radiative heat flux parameter increases the temperature profile.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigated numerically an unsteady boundary layer flow of a nanofluid over a stretching sheet in the presence of thermal radiation with variable fluid properties. Using a set of suitable similarity transformations, the governing partial differential equations are reduced into a set of nonlinear ordinary differential equations. System of the nonlinear ordinary differential equations are then solved by the Keller-box method. The physical parameters taken into consideration for the present study are: Prandtl number Pr, Lewis number Le, Brownian motion parameter N b, thermophoresis parameter N t, radiation parameter N r, unsteady parameter M. In addition to these parameters, two more new parameters namely variable thermophoretic diffusion coefficient parameter e and variable Brownian motion diffusion coefficient parameter β have been introduced in the present study. Effects of these parameters on temperature, volume fraction of the nanoparticles, surface heat and mass transfer rates are presented graphically and discussed briefly. To validate our method, we have compared the present results with some previously reported results in the literature. The results are found to be in a very good agreement.  相似文献

This article looks at the mass transfer of the steady two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) boundary layer flow of an upper-convected Maxwell (UCM) fluid past a porous shrinking sheet in the presence of chemical reaction. The resulting nonlinear partial differential equations are reduced to the system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations by means of similarity transformations. Expressions of velocity and the concentration fields are obtained using the homotopy analysis method (HAM). The convergence of the obtained series solutions is explicitly discussed. The influences of sundry parameters on the velocity and the concentration fields are made and discussed in detail. The values of the skin friction coefficient and the surface mass transfer for various interesting parameters are also tabulated.  相似文献

In the present paper, we have investigated the peristaltic flow of hyperbolic tangent fluid in a curved channel. The governing equations of hyperbolic tangent fluid model for curved channel are derived including the effects of curvature. The highly nonlinear partial differential equations are simplified by using the wave frame transformation, long wave length and low Reynolds number assumptions. The reduced nonlinear partial differential equation is solved analytically with the help of homotopy perturbation method (HPM). The physical features of pertinent parameters have been discussed by plotting the graphs of pressure rise and stream functions.  相似文献

The steady two-dimensional MHD stagnation point flow towards a stretching sheet with variable surface temperature is investigated. The governing system of partial differential equations are transformed into ordinary differential equations, which are then solved numerically using a finite-difference scheme known as the Keller-box method. The effects of the governing parameters on the flow field and heat transfer characteristics are obtained and discussed. It is found that the heat transfer rate at the surface increases with the magnetic parameter when the free stream velocity exceeds the stretching velocity, i.e. ε>1, and the opposite is observed when ε<1.  相似文献

The field, the propagation and the imaging characteristics of two Gaussian optical beams with orthogonal polarization passing through a family of Kerr-law nonlinear shifted parabolic graded-index rod lenses are investigated. The coupled differential equations of the dimensionless beam-width parameters of two Gaussian optical beams are derived by using a variational approach and then solved. It is concluded that there are two regimes of propagation and that the power, the incident waist radius and the position of one beam have large effects on the field, the propagation and the imaging characteristics of the other beam.  相似文献

This Letter endeavours to complete an earlier numerical analysis for flow and heat transfer in a viscous fluid over a sheet nonlinearly stretched by extending the investigation in two directions. On one side, the effects of thermal radiation are included in the energy equation, and, on the other hand, the prescribed wall heat flux case (PHF case) is also analyzed. The governing partial differential equations are converted into nonlinear ordinary differential equations by a similarity transformation. The variations of dimensionless surface temperature as well as flow and heat-transfer characteristics with the governing dimensionless parameters of the problem, which include a nonlinearly stretching sheet, thermal radiation, viscous dissipation and power-law index of the wall temperature parameters, are graphed and tabulated.  相似文献
