In order to indentity the corrosion products formed on steel surfaces from 57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy, detailed Mössbauer parameters have been determined for various kinds of iron-oxyhydroxides: -FeOOH, -FeOOH, -FeOOH and -FeOOH. 57Fe Mössbauer measurements of the iron oxyhydroxides indicate the following results. Fe occupies a single site in -FeOOH, but below the Néel temperature as at e.g., 300 K the Mössbauer spectrum is always broad, showing a distribution of the strength of the magnetic exchange interactions. Its shape depends on the grain-size and synthetic methods of the specimen. Fe occupies 3 sites in -FeOOH. High-purity reagents of -FeOOH always contain small amounts of -FeOOH and their Néel temperatures depend on the synthetic methods of the specimen. Mössbauer spectroscopy of the synthetic -FeOOH shows very broad distribution of the hyperfine magnetic fields.  相似文献

For a -dimensional system of particles with the two-body potentialq(r)+ v K(r) and density , it is proved under fairly weak conditions onq andK that the canonical pressure (, ) and chemical potential (, ) tend to definite limits when 0. The limiting functions are absolutely continuous and are given in terms of the derivative of the limiting free energy density which was found in Part I.  相似文献

The first part of the paper gives a general equation for triple-crystal arrangement with perfect crystals on the assumption that the third crystal is rotated. It is shown that in the case of perfect crystals the shape of the reflection curve is practically independent of the vertical divergence. The case of mosaic crystals is also solved and the possibility of rotation by other than the third crystal is considered. A method is proposed for investigating the imperfection of a crystal which is different from methods used up to now. The paper is supplemented by some experimental results.

Semiclassical versions of the static (diabatic) and adiabatic coupling schemes are applied to a two-level-one-mode system at total energies above the cross-over level. The corresponding rates of nonradiative multiphonon transitions reduce to alternativemonotonous dependences on the usual Landau-Zener parameter. Static coupling gives an increasing transition probability (per oscillation) of the familiar formP st() = 4. Adiabatic coupling associated with a sufficiently low mechanism-specific potential barrier of Born's type produces a decreasing transition probability of the formP ad() exp (–2). The underlying Beyond-Non-Condon calculation procedure shows that (1) the weak dependence of the pre-exponential factorP ad is a consequence of the-independent normalization of the electronic matrix element governing the non-adiabaticity operator and (2) the occurrence of the mechanism-specific tunnelling factor exp(–2) is due to the avoided crossing of adiabatic oscillator potentials. Ranges of applicability of both alternative coupling schemes are limited by comparison with earlier non-perturbational results.  相似文献

We report new limits on right-handed currents, based on precise measurements of the endpoint of the e+ spectrum from + decay. Highly polarized + from the TRIUMF surface beam were stopped in pure metal foils within either an 1.1-T spin-holding logitudinal field, or a 70-gauss spin-precessing transverse field. Decay e+ emitted within 200 mrad of the beam direction were momentum-analyzed to ±0.2%. For the spin-held data, decay via (V-A) currents requires the e+ rate to approach zero in the beam direction at the endpoint. Measurement of this rate sets the 90%-confidence limits P />0.9959 and M(WR)>380 GeV, where WR is the possible right-handed gauge boson. For the spin-precessed data we independently determine a 90% confidence limit P />0.9918.We are indebted to the entire TRIUMF management and staff for their splendid support of this experiment. In its early stages we benefited from discussion with J. Brewer, R. Cahn, K. Crowe, and W. Wenzel. Rapid commissioning of the polarimeter was made possible by the superb efforts of the LBL support staff. We report analyses of series enumerations for the mean radius of gyration for isotropic and directed lattice animals and for percolation clusters, in two and three dimensions. We allow for the leading correction to the scaling behaviour and obtain estimates of the leading correction-to-scaling exponent . We find -0.640±0.004 and =0.87±0.07 for isotropic animals in 2d, and =0.64±0.06 in 3d. For directed lattice animals we argue that the leading correction has= or= ; we also estimate =0.82±0.01 and 0.69 ±0.01 ind=2, 3 respectively. For percolation clusters at and abovep c, we find (p c) =0.58±0.06 and (p>p c)=0.84±0.09 in 2d, and (p c)=0.42±0.11 and (p>p c)=0.41 ±0.09 in 3d.  相似文献

An unorthodox cosmology is based on a notion of standpoint, distinguishing past from future, realized through Hilbert-space representation of the complex conformai group for 3+1spacetime and associated coherent states. Physical (approximate) symmetry attaches to eight-parameter complex Poincaré displacements, interpretable as growth of standpoint age (one parameter), boost of matter energy-momentum in standpoint rest frame (three parameters) and displacement of matter location in a compact U(1)O(4)/O(3) spacetime attached to standpoint (four parameters). An initial condition (at big bang) is characterized by a huge dimensionless parameter that breaks dilation invariance. Four major length scales are recognized, called Planck, particle, lab, and Hubble, with separations controlled by ; all physical concepts, including spacetime, depend on wideness of scale separation.  相似文献

Based on the (relativistic) Maxwell equations with displacement current E/t, the initial-boundary-value problem for the compression of an initially homogeneous magnetic fieldB={0,B(x,t),0} between a fixed liner atx=0 and a detonation-driven liner atx=s(t) is solved analytically. By homogenizing the boundary conditions at the moving boundary, the transient electromagnetic fields are shown to be a superposition of quasistatic elliptic (E/t=0) and hyperbolic (E/t0) wave solutions. The wave equation is solved by a Fourier expansion in time-dependent eigenfunctionsf n =f n [nx/s(t)] for the variable region 0xs(t), where the Fourier amplitudes n (t) are determined by coupled differential equations of second order. It is concluded that the conventional elliptic flux compression theories (E/t=0) hold approximately for nonrelativistic liner speeds , whereas the hyperbolic theory (E/t0) is valid for arbitrary liner speeds .  相似文献

We derive the hydrodynamic (Euler) approximation for the harmonic time evolution of infinite classical oscillator system on one-dimensional lattice 1 It is known that equilibrium (i.e., time-invariant attractive) states for this model are translationally invariant Gaussian ones, with the mean 0, which satisfy some linear relations involving the interaction quadratic form. The natural parameter characterizing equilibrium states is the spectral density matrix function (SDMF)F(), [– , ). Time evolution of a space profile of local equilibrium parameters is described by a space-time SDMFF(t;x, ) t, xR 1. The hydrodynamic equation forF(t; x, ) which we derive in this paper means that the normal mode profiles indexed by are moving according to linear laws and are mutually independent. The procedure of deriving the hydrodynamic equation is the following: We fix an initial SDMF profileF(x, ) and a familyP ,>0 of mean 0 states which satisfy the two conditions imposed on the covariance of spins at various lattice points: (a) the covariance at points close to the value –1 x in the stateP is approximately described by the SDMFF(x, ); (b) The covariance (on large distances) decreases with distance quickly enough and uniformly in. Given nonzerotR 1, we consider the states P –1 ,>0, describing the system at the time moments –1 t during its harmonic time evolution. We check that the covariance at lattice points close to –1 x in the state P –1 is approximately described by a SDMFF(t;x, ) and establish the connection betweenF(t; x, ) andF(x,).  相似文献

Mori's scaling method is used to derive the kinetic equation for a dilute, nonuniform electron plasma in the kinetic region where the space-time cutoff (b, t c) satisfies Dbl f , D t c f , with D the Debye length, D –1= p the plasma frequency, andl f and f the mean free path and time, respectively. The kinetic equation takes account of the nonuniformity of the order ofl f and D for the single-and the two-particle distribution function, respectively. Thus the Vlasov term associated with the two-particle distribution function is retained. This kinetic equation is deduced from the kinetic equation in the coherent region obtained by Morita, Mori, and Tokuyama, where the space-time cutoff of the coherent region satisfies Dbr 0, Dt c 0, withr 0 the Landau length and 0 the corresponding time scale.  相似文献

The paper gives the results of measuring ferromagnetic resonance on thin cobalt films, vacuum deposited on unheated glass slides. The values of the (g-factor, the width of the curve, the effective stress and uniaxial induced anisotropy were determined as a function of the thickness of the film from measurements of the ferromagnetic absorption in a magnetic field normal and parallel to the surface of the film. Measurements were carried out on a frequency of 9200 MHz and on film thicknesses of 180 to 1800 Å. A qualitative explanation of the observed dependences is given.

The Julia setB for the mappingz (z–)2 is considered, where is a complex parameter. For 2 a new upper bound for the Hausdorff dimension is given, and the monic polynomials orthogonal with respect to the equilibrium measure onB are introduced. A method for calculating all of the polynomials is provided, and certain identities which obtain among coefficients of the three-term recurrence relations are given. A unifying theme is the relationship betweenB and -chains ± (± (± ...), which is explored for –1/42 and for with ||1/4, with the aid of the Böttcher equation. ThenB is shown to be a Hölder continuous curve for ||<1/4.Supported by NSF Grant MCS-8104862Supported by NSF Grant MCS-8002731  相似文献

A method is presented which can be used to discuss both the classical and also the nonrelativistic limit of quantum mechanics. A one-to-one correspondence may be established between the asymptotic convergence of the resolvent and that of the timedependent solution. In so far as the question of dynamics is concerned we investigate the relation between families of nonrelativistic Hamiltonians and the corresponding Dirac-Hamiltonians when c± or when c±0. The nonrelativistic free theory formally shows the same pattern when ±0 (the classical limit) or when ±. The investigation finally shows how the asymptotic convergence of the relativistic theory can take place under some fairly general conditions of the radiation field.  相似文献

LetA be a quasi-manual with finite operations. Associate to each E = {e 1 ,..., en} A the set E of modal formulas: (e 1 ··· en), ei (e 1 ··· ei–1 ei+1 ··· en), i=1,..., n. Set A = {E|E A}. We show that supports ofA are in one-to-one correspondence with certain Kripke models of A where the supports are given by {x |A x is true}.On leave from the Department of Mathematics, Pontificia Universidade Catolica, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  相似文献

We derive a finite-size scaling representation for the partition function for an Onsager-Temperley string model with a wetting transition, and analyze the zeros of this partition function in the complex scaled coupling parameter of relevance. The system models the one-dimensional interface between two phases in a rectangular two-dimensional region (x, y) 2,–L yL,oxN. The two phases are at coexistence. The string or interface has a surface tension 2KkT per unit length and an extra Boltzmann weighta per unit length if it touches the surfaces aty=±L. There is a critical valuea c=1/2K and fora>a c the string is confined to one of the surfaces, while fora a c the string moves roughly in the rectangular region. The finite-size scaling parameters are =a c 2 N/L 2 and =L(a–a c)/a c 2 . We find that for || large, the zeros of the scaled partition function lie close to the lines arg()=±/4 with re()>0. We discuss the motion of all the zeros as changes by both analytic and numerical arguments.  相似文献

The paper explains the theory of modelling electrostatic fields by a resistance network. The conditions, which the resistance network must satisfy, are derived and the question of modelling electrodes of different shapes is solved. The finished network and the results obtained on it when modelling a jet for a linear h-f accelerator of electrons are described. Particular attention is paid to the influence of a space charge, the modelling of which is an advantage of this method.

We have studied the p+p0+X inclusive reaction data of Carey et al. in the framework of the scaling in the mean hypothesis first proposed by Dao et al. These data have been used to obtain the gamma ray spectrum in terms of the average value of the Feynman variablex, written as x.A comparison with the observed gamma ray spectrum at Mt. Chacaltaya by the Japanese and Brazilian Group gives the energy dependence of x at very high energy.  相似文献

We study the evolution of the completely asymmetric simple exclusion process in one dimension, with particles moving only to the right, for initial configurations corresponding to average density ( +) left (right) of the origin, +. The microscopic shock position is identified by introducing a second-class particle. Results indicate that the shock profile is stable, and that the distribution as seen from the shock positionN(t) tends, as time increases, to a limiting distribution, which is locally close to an equilibrium distribution far from the shock. Moreover , withV=1– +, as predicted, and the dispersion ofN(t), 2(t), behaves linearly, for not too small values of + , i.e., , whereS is equal, up to a scaling factor, to the valueS WA predicted in the weakly asymmetric case. For += we find agreement with the conjecture .Dedicated to the memory of Paola Calderoni.  相似文献

An implementation of the free-embedding scheme for high-temperature series generation on the body-centered cubic family of lattices in arbitrary dimensiond is, described. Series to order 21 in inverse temperature are tabulated for several scalar field models, both for the magnetic susceptibility and for the second moment of the spin correlation function. The critical behavior of a family of 3-dimensional double Gaussian models, which interpolate continuously between the spin-1/2 Ising model and the Gaussian model, is analyzed in detail away from the Gaussian model limit using confluent inhomogeneous secondorder differential approximants. With our best estimate of the correction-to-scaling exponent,=0.52±0.03, the leading exponents for the susceptibility and correlation length for this family are consistent with universality and are given by=1.237±0.002 and =0.630±0.0015, respectively, and=2–/=0.0359±0.0007.  相似文献

The time evolution of a damped quantum particle is discussed. Dissipation is modeled by the bilinear coupling to a set of harmonic oscillators. Using a functional integral technique that accounts for initial correlations between the particle and the reservoir, one can express the dynamics of the damped particle entirely in terms of equilibrium correlation functions. The long-time behavior of these correlations is determined for memory damping arising from the coupling to a reservoir with spectral densityI() at low frequencies, where > 0. The time evolution of nonequilibrium initial states of the damped particle is discussed. At finite temperatures an initially localized state is found to spread subdiffusively or superdiffusively, depending on . For > 2 the damping becomes ineffective for long times, and the width of a state grows kinematically. At zero temperature and for < 1, an initially localized state remains localized for all times. For 1 the state spreads, but with a slower rate than at finite temperatures. Study of arbitrary initial states indicates that the process is ergodic at finite temperatures only for 2 and at zero temperature for 1 2.  相似文献
