LetV be a finite dimensional complex linear space and letG be a compact subgroup of GL(V). We prove that an orbitG, V, is polynomially convex if and only ifG is closed andG is the real form ofG . For every orbitG which is not polynomially convex we construct an analytic annulus or strip inG with the boundary inG. It is also proved that the group of holomorphic automorphisms ofG which commute withG acts transitively on the set of polynomially convexG-orbits. Further, an analog of the Kempf-Ness criterion is obtained and homogeneous spaces of compact Lie groups which admit only polynomially convex equivariant embeddings are characterized.Supported by Federal program Integratsiya, no. 586.Supported by INTAS grant 97/10170.  相似文献

By the relative distance of pointsa andb of a convex bodyC we mean the ratio of the Euclidean distance ofa andb to the half of the Euclidean distance ofa, b C such thatab is a longest chord ofC parallel to the segmentab. We say that a sideab of a convexn-gon is relatively short (respectively: relatively long) if the relative distance ofa andb is at most (respectively: at least) the relative distance of two consecutive vertices of the regularn-gon. LetG be a simple graph withn vertices. We denote by i(G) thei-th largest eigenvalue ofG. In this paper, several results are presented concerning bounds on the eigenvalues ofG. In particular, it is shown that –12(G)(n–2)/2, and the left hand equality holds if and only ifG is a complete graph with at least two vertices; the right hand equality holds if and only ifn is even andG2K n/2.  相似文献

A familyof graphs is Ramsey if for all graphsBthere is a graphAsuch thatA(B) r 1 . The only graphsG for which it is not known whether Forb (G) is Ramsey are graphs which have a cutpoint adjacent to every other vertex except one. In this paper it is proven that if every essential independent setS ofk + 1 vertices satisfiesS V r , thenG is hamiltonian, orG{u} is hamiltonian for someu V r, orG is one of three classes of exceptional graphs. By means of generalized dyadic decompositions ofG, translation invariant Banach spacesF(B, B, X) of (classes of) measurable functions onG are constructed, e. g. certain weighted amalgams ofL p -spaces. Basic properties of these spaces are derived and connections with spaces considered in the literature are indicated. Given a bipartite graphG = (V, U, E), a cover ofG is a subset with the property that each nodeu U is adjacent to at least one nodev D. If a positive weightc v is associated with each nodev V, the covering problem (CP) is to find a cover ofG having minimum total weight.In this paper we study the properties of the polytopeQ(G) |V| , the convex hull of the incidence vectors of all the covers inG. After discussing some general properties ofQ(G) we introduce a large class of bipartite graphs with special structure and describe several types of rank facets of the associated polytopes.Furthermore we present two lifting procedures to derive valid inequalities and facets of the polytopeQ(G) from the facets of any polytopeQ(G) associated with a subgraphG ofG. In this paper we give Coxeter presentation (X, ) for the three Fischer groupsG=Fi22, Fi23, Fi24; we apply methods exposed in the first part. Each of these groups is generated by a class of 3-transpositions (named here a Fischer class) in which elements ofX are chosen. A subset of is the set of all the relations (xy) m(x,y)=1, wherex andy are inX and wherem(x,y) means the order ofxy inG. Let (X, , ) be a finite atomless measure space,L a convex subfamily of , andY andZ locally convex Hausdorff topological vector spaces which are ordered by the conesC andD, respectively. LetF:LY beC-convex andG:LZ beD-convex set functions. Consider the following optimization problem (P): minimizeF(), subject to L andG() D . The paper generalizes the Moreau-Rockafellar theorem with set functions. By applying this theorem, a Kuhn-Tucker type optimality condition and a Fritz John type optimality condition for problem (P) are established.
