The ablation of ceramic Bi-Ca-Sr-Cu-O by XeCl-excimer-laser projection has been investigated. In both air and vacuum, etching commences at about 2.4 J/cm2 and then increases with fluence within the regime investigated ( <) 20 J/cm2). At 10 J/cm2 the respective etch rates are around 1 m/pulse and 1.6 m/pulse.  相似文献

We investigate the band-gap structure of some second-order differential operators associated with the propagation of waves in periodic two-component media. Particularly, the operator associated with the Maxwell equations with position-dependent dielectric constant (x),xR 3, is considered. The medium is assumed to consist of two components: the background, where (x) = b , and the embedded component composed of periodically positioned disjoint cubes, where (x) = a . We show that the spectrum of the relevant operator has gaps provided some reasonable conditions are imposed on the parameters of the medium. Particularly, we show that one can open up at least one gap in the spectrum at any preassigned point provided that the size of cubesL, the distancel=L betwen them, and the contrast = b / a are chosen in such a way thatL –2, and quantities -1-3/2 and 2 are small enough. If these conditions are satisfied, the spectrum is located in a vicinity of widthw(3/2)-1 of the set {2 L -2 k 2:kZ3}. This means, in particular, that any finite number of gaps between the elements of this discrete set can be opened simultaneously, and the corresponding bands of the spectrum can be made arbitrarily narrow. The method developed shows that if the embedded component consists of periodically positioned balls or other domains which cannot pack the space without overlapping, one should expect pseudogaps rather than real gaps in the spectrum.  相似文献

It is found that secondary electrons ejected by the ions from the collector are responsible for neutralizing 300 sec pulses of wide-aperture ion beams (about 100–300 cm2) formed by various metals and having current densities ji of about 10–2 A/cm2 and energy i 100 keV. We propose a scheme for producing high gain recombination X-ray lasers on hydrogen-like Balmer transitions by irradiating fibre targets with a 2 ps Chirped Pulse Amplification CPA beam of a Nd-glass laser facility. Very high gain coefficients for H-like C, N, O, F, Na Balmer transitions are predicted. The optimum electron density and temperature for maximum gain operation scale approximately asN e 4 × 1013 Z 7 cm–3 and Te 7 × 10–3 Z 4 eV, respectively, at the time when maximum lasing gain appears. Significant improvement in gain performance of recombination X-ray lasers is predicted by using CPA ps pulse drivers.  相似文献

TDPAC of -rays emitted from111Cd(111In) in -Fe2O3 was measured at 85K. A fairly strong nuclear spin relaxation was observed in the TDPAC spectrum in an initial period of about 50ns. After that period, the perturbation factorG 22 (t) could be analyzed assuming a unique static interaction. The EFG parameters observed in this region deviate a little from the ones expected from the crystal symmetry. These findings are qualitatively explained by the after-effects of the preceeding111In(111Cd) EC decay.  相似文献

We present the application of a continuous-wave ultra-violet tuneable light source for detection of the hydroxyl radical (OH) using cavity-enhanced absorption spectroscopy of the Q11(2) and Q21(2) absorption lines in the A2+(v=0)23/2(v=0) band at ca. 308 nm. A tuneable infra-red diode laser operating at 835 nm and either an Ar+ laser or a single frequency continuous-wave intracavity frequency-doubled diode laser, both operating at ca. 488 nm, were used to produce 0.1–0.5 W of tuneable radiation at ca. 308 nm by sum frequency generation in a BaB2O4 crystal. Cavity enhanced absorption spectroscopy was used to detect OH generated by UV photolysis of water vapour in argon, nitrogen, neon and helium at atmospheric pressure. A noise-equivalent (1) absorption sensitivity of 2.1×10-7 cm-1Hz-1/2 measured over 128 scans in a time of 1.16 s was demonstrated with mirrors of reflectivity 0.9963 in a cavity of length 58.5 cm for a 2 cm-1 scanning range at a UV power of 0.5 W. An OH detection limit (1) of 3.84×109 moleculecm-3 was estimated in argon at atmospheric pressure. OH collisional broadening in humidified N2, Ar, Ne and He was determined at atmospheric pressure . A finite spread in axial momentum for the electron beam in a free electron laser amplifier is shown to decrease the small-signal gain. For millimeter and sub-millimeter wave amplifiers, where exponential growth dominates the gain, it is shown that the gain is approximately 3 db below that for a cold beam if the relative momentum spread (u/u)1/2 = (Go/248)1/2 (o/L), where Go1 is the gain in db for the cold-beam case, o is the magnetic wiggler period, and L is the amplifier length. LetI be a set of invariants for a system of differential equations with an ordero() vector field. When order perturbations of zero mean are added to the system we show that, under suitable regularity and ergodicity conditions,I becomes an adiabatic invariant with maximal variations of order one on time scales of order 1/2. In the stochastically perturbed case,I behaves asymptotically (for small ) like a diffusion process on 1/2 time scales. The results also apply to an interesting class of deterministic perturbations. Planer stripe and foil targets coated with NaF were irradiated with high intensity 351 nm laser radiation of 130 ps duration. Time-integrated as well as time-resolved measurement of gain on NaXIH at 54.2Å were made. A time-integrated gain of 1.2 –1.1 +0.8 cm–1 and a time-resolved peak gain of 3.2±1.0 cm–1 were obtained. Experimental results for two-wave mixing experiments in a single Bi12TiO20 fibre-type crystal at a wavelength of 632.8 nm under transverse a.c. electric field are reported. An exponential gain factor =4.7 cm-1, which is much higher than the absorption coefficient (0.6 cm-1), is obtained. It is observed that the signal beam enhancement is in fact signal beam depletion for spatial frequencies higher than F B, which is determined by fibre geometry. An unusually strong dependence of response time on the recording beams intensities ratio reflects the nonlinearities of the multi-two-wave mixing process.  相似文献

The ergodic properties of two stochastic models I and II are investigated. Each model is described by a fieldx(t),t > 0, on the lattice =Z d,d < . For I,x(t) evolves according to the equations wherex s (t) R for eachs eF. Here the {ws(t): s } are independent, one-dimensional Wiener processes, 2 is a bounded interaction between adjacent lattice sites, and the potentials 1 and 2 satisfy appropriate regularity conditions. It is shown that for each model,x(t) is a Markov process on an infinite-dimensional phase spaceX. The probability measures onX that satisfy the Dobrushin-Lanford-Ruelle (DLR) conditions are stationary for this process and have a mixing property. As in Part I of this paper, we consider the problem of the energy exchanges between two subsystems, of which one is a system of harmonic oscillators, while the other one is any dynamical system ofn degrees of freedom. Such a problem is of interest both for the realization of holonomic constraints of classical mechanics, and for the freezing of the internal degrees of freedom in molecular collisions. The results of Part I, which referred to the particular case =1, are here extended to the more difficult case >1. For the rate of energy transfer we find exponential estimates of Nekhoroshev's type, namely of the form exp (*/)1/a , where is a positive real number giving the size of the involved frequencies, and * anda are constants. For the particularly relevant constanta we find in generala=1/ however, in the particular case when the frequencies are equal (collision of identical molecules), we finda=1 independently of , as conjectured by Jeans in the year 1903.  相似文献

We discuss the spectral function of a single O hole generated in a two-dimensional CuO2-lattice at half-filling. The latter constitutes the most important structural element of high-T c superconducting materials. The system is described by the so-called extended Hubbard or Emery model. Strong electronic correlations which are incorporated in the model prevent the usual evaluation of Green functions based on Wick's theorem and using diagram techniques. For that reason we apply a new cumulant approach to dynamical correlation functions introduced recently. As a result we find that the local one-O hole excitation spectrum has two structured absorption regions around the bare O energy p and around p + due to charge fluctuations of Cu holes. Here is the bare charge transfer gap. The width of the absorption regime around p is of the order of several timest pd 2 /, wheret pd is the hopping integral between Cu and O holes.  相似文献

We report optical gain measurements in four different copolymers polyp-phenylene-co-[2,5-dioctyloxy-p-phenylene-bis-2(4-nonyl phenyl) vinylene]nonyl-PpPV, polym-phenylene-co-[2,5-dioctyloxy-p-phenylene-bis-2(4-methyl phenyl) vinylene]methyl-PmPV, polyp-phenylene-co-[2,5-dioctyloxy-p-phenylene-bis-2(4-methyl-phenyl) vinylene]methyl-PpPV, polyp-phenylene-co-[2,6-naphthylene-bis-2(4-nonyl phenyl) vinylene]nonyl-PpPV-NV in toluene. The copolymers are related to poly(phenylene vinylene) and have been synthesized via Horner–Emmons polycondensation reaction. The optical gain determined from the amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) intensity is dependent on the excited stripe length. The net optical gain coefficients are found to vary between 0.1 cm–1 in nonyl-PpPV to 2.5 cm–1 in methyl-PmPV under nanosecond pulse excitation. The gain for Rodamine 6G was also measured under the same experimental condition and was used to determine the stimulated emission cross-sections for the four polymers and found to be SE(peak)= 6.7 × 10–20 cm2 for nonyl-PpPV, SE(peak)= 1.7 × 1018 cm2 for methyl-PmPV, SE(peak)= 1.4 × 10–18 cm2 for methyl-PpPV, and SE(peak)= 1.5 × 10–18 cm2 for nonyl-PpPV-NV.  相似文献

The sticking process dt + n, which constitutes the most severe limit to the number of fusions which a muon can catalyze, is reviewed. Many attempts were made to determine by calculations and measurements the probability for initial sticking s 0 (immediately after dt fusion) and for final sticking s (after the came to rest). Previous results based on neutron disappearance rates and on the observation of -X-rays were controversial and also in some disagreement with theory. New data are reported from PSI on direct observation of final sticking, using a setup with the St. Petersburg ionization chamber. These data mark a significant improvement in reliability and may clarify questions concerning previous discrepancies. The new results is s(0.56±0.04)%, lower than the theory prediction s=(0.65±0.03)%, at medium density.  相似文献

First results on d are reported. The measurements were made using 8 specially designed neutron counters, which were carefully calibratedin situ. The differential cross sections atT =142, 180, 217, and 254 MeV were obtained at four angles between 0° and 90°, they are compared to + d pp data measured at the same energies and angles with the same setup. At every beam energy, the shape of the angular distributions of d nn and + d pp is the same to ±2%. The absolute cross sections differ by 1 to 10%. The phenomenological approach to investigating the decay of the vacuum energy density is generalized in the spirit of Dirac's large number hypothesis. Different arguments are outlined to justify an universal dependence of the type =H 2 ( is a pure number andH is the Hubble parameter). Such time-varying A does change the predictions of the earlier Dirac's cosmology. The deceleration parameter (q 0=(2–)/(1+)) and the age parameter (H 0t0=(1+)/3) are now compatible with the observations. The model also allows a power-law inflationary phase and a rate of matter creation smaller than the one present in the steady state universe.  相似文献

A variety of rigorous inequalities for critical exponents is proved. Most notable is the low-temperature Josephson inequalitydv +2 2–.
