We study the production of scalar electrons ine + e ? collisions on and above theZ resonance. By calculating the cross-section for \(e^ + e^ - \to e^ + e^ - \tilde \gamma \tilde \gamma \) we show that scalar electrons with mass above the beam energies \((\sqrt s /2)\) can be identified. In particular if a zino with mass \(m_{\tilde z}< \sqrt s - m_{\tilde \gamma } \) exists then zino production and decay can give a contribution which dominates the γ exchange contributions. We study the pattern of soft parton radiation in the hard annihilation processes \(e^ + e^ - \to q\bar q\gamma \) and \(e^ + e^ - \to q\bar qg\) by explicit evaluation of the cross sections for \(e^ + e^ - \to q\bar q\gamma g\) and \(e^ + e^ - \to q\bar qgg + q\bar qq\bar q\) taken care of correct normalization. We find the coherence effects as observed experimentally and discuss why these effects are not present in the usual models based onO s 2 ) perturbation theory with subsequent independent fragmentation.  相似文献

We study the mixings and CP violations in the \(B^0 - \bar B^0 \) system together with the \(K^0 - \bar K^0 \) one in the four-generation model, taking into account the ARGUS data for the \(B_d^0 - \bar B_d^0 \) mixing. We take typical six cases of the mixing hierarchy and search for the allowed regions of three phases in the 4×4KM matrix. The CP violating parameter ? K in the \(K^0 - \bar K^0 \) system gives a severe constraint for the phases, and the smaller mixing than that in the three-generation model is predicted for the \(B_s^0 - \bar B_s^0 \) system. The asymmetry parameters for the two-body non-leptonic decays of theB 0 and \(\bar B^0 \) mesons are also predicted.  相似文献

Supersymmetric (SUSY) particle production processes at HERA: (1) \(e^ - p \to \tilde e^ - \tilde qX and (2)e^ - p \to \tilde e^ - \tilde \gamma qX\) followed by the selectron decay \(\tilde e^ - \to e^ - \tilde \gamma\) with longitudinally polarized electron beam are examined. We found that the accomplanarity cut will be relevant to the backgrounde ? p→e ? qX suppression. It is our findings that thex-distribution serves to distinguish the process (1) from (2) and the left-right asymmetry using longitudinally polarized electron beam is an appropriate observable to determine the mass difference of left-and right-handed selectron.  相似文献

The decay width of theZ 0 associated with its coupling tou andd quarks is usually expressed as the incoherent sum of the widths into \(u\bar u\) and \(d\bar d\) final states, \(\Gamma (u\bar u) + \Gamma (d\bar d)\) . We examine a specific correction to this estimate arising from the coherence of the \(u\bar u\) and \(d\bar d\) systems, dictated by isospin symmetry. The decay width is written in the alternative form Γ(G=+1)+Γ(G=?1), which recognises that final hadronic states can be classified according to even and odd G-parity. Assuming that states withG=+1(?1) evolve from configurations containing even (odd) numbers ofG=?1 systems, and considering various multiplicity distributions for such systems, small corrections are obtained relative to the conventional estimate. A similar analysis applied to the cross section for \(e^ + e^ - \to u\bar u, d\bar d\) yields small energy-dependent corrections to the parameter R.  相似文献

CP violation in partial-decay-rate asymmetries are examined for some two-body baryonic decays of \(B_d^0 - \bar B_d^0 \) system. We discuss two feasible experimental circumstances: the symmetrice + e ? collisions (i) on theZ 0 resonance to produce incoherent \(B_d^0 \bar B_d^0 \) states, and (ii) just above the ?(4S) resonance to produceC=even \(B_d^0 \bar B_d^0 \) states. Using the quark-diagram scheme, we estimate the branching ratios of those decays, and the numbers ofb \(\bar b\) pairs needed for testing theCP-violating effects for 3σ signature. We find that the promising channels may beB d 0 , \(\bar B_d^0 \to p\bar p\) , \(\Delta ^ + \bar \Delta ^ - \) , \(p\bar \Delta ^ - \) , \(\Delta ^ + \bar p\) , \(n\bar n\) , \(\Delta ^0 \bar \Delta ^0 \) , \(n\bar \Delta ^0 \) , \(\Delta ^0 \bar n\) , \(\Sigma _c^ + \bar \Sigma _c^ - \) , \(\Lambda _c^ + \bar \Lambda _c^ - \) , \(\Sigma _c^ + \bar \Lambda _c^ - \) , \(\Lambda _c^ + \bar \Sigma _c^ - \) , \(\Sigma _c^0 \bar \Sigma _c^0 \) , \(\Xi _c^0 \bar \Xi _c^0 \) , which should be interesting for experimental observation.  相似文献

Neutrino pair creation in bremsstrahlung processes of the type \(l \to l{\text{ }}v{\text{ }}\bar v\) contains vital information on the number of lepton generations, and is catalyzed by the coherent nuclear Coulomb effect or other forms of intense fields. Of particular interest is the ratio \(R_{v\bar v} = \sigma [1\mathop \to \limits_A l(v\bar v)]/\sigma [1\mathop \to \limits_A l'(v\bar v)]\) (wherel, l′ are distinct charged leptons). It is sensitive to the number of neurino types and their couplings in the same way that the ratio \(R_{q\bar q} = \sigma [e^ + e^ - \to {\text{hadrons}}]/\sigma [e^ + e^ - \to \mu ^ + \mu ^ - ]\) is to those of quarks. In the Weinberg-Salam model withN lepton generations, the ratio \(R_{v\bar v}\) is approximately given by \([(N + 4) + 4(1 - 4\sin ^2 \theta _W )]/8\) .  相似文献

The possible influence of theV?Z mixing on the spectrum of photons in the neutrino counting experiments \(e^ + e^ - \to \gamma \bar vv\) is analyzed. Unless one is restricted to photons in a very narrow band around theV-mass, the influence of the mixing is negligeable.  相似文献

We apply the unitarized quark model to heavy \(c\bar c\) and \(b\bar b\) quarkonium and study mass shifts and mixings induced by hadronic coupled channel effects. In particular, we study the two-meson continuum mixing in the quarkonium wave functions. It is found that the continuum component is 2–20% in the \(c\bar c\) and \(b\bar b\) states, measured as the squared sum of two-meson amplitudes \((D\bar D,D\bar D^ * + cc,D^ * \bar D^ * ,F\bar F,F\bar F^ * + cc,F^ * \bar F^ * for c\bar c)\) . It is the largest for states near or above the first threshold. These continuum mixings reduce the predicted radiative widths by 5–30%. The mass shifts of theP andF wave \(q\bar q\) states are similar to those ofS andD wave states previously studied. The computed resonance mixing matrices are explicitly given, enabling future calculations of relativistic effects, QCD effects, etc., to include also the coupled channel effects.  相似文献

We interpret the recently observedU(3.1) mesons with the \(\Lambda \bar p\) + pions decays as the bound state of \(\Lambda ,\bar p\) andX 0(1480). TheX 0(1480) is a mesonium with \(Q^2 \bar Q^2 \) structures observed in γγ reactions and \(\bar pn\) annihilations. With this interpretation, we can understand its decay modes. Furthermore, we predict the ratio of \(\sigma (\Lambda \bar p\pi ^ + \pi ^ - )/\sigma (\Lambda \bar p\pi ^ + \pi ^ + )\) to be ?3.1 for centrally produced events and that the width of \(U^ - (\Lambda \bar p\pi ^ + \pi ^ - )\) to be greater than that of \(U^ + (\Lambda \bar p\pi ^ + \pi ^ + )\) . Both predictions seem to be in reasonable accord with the available data. We call for the detection of the \(\Lambda \bar p\pi ^ - \pi ^ - \) mode to verify the present interpretation.  相似文献

We extend from \(B^0 - \overline {B^0 } to T^0 - \overline {T^0 } \) the study of neutral pseudoscalar mesons with respect to mixing and CP violation. The possibility of a quite large top quark mass necessitates a more careful computation of the box diagram amplitude. Our result is that, while in \(B^0 - \overline {B^0 } \) systems CP violation is expected to be very small (~10?6) and mixing quite large (10–20% or more), precisely the opposite occurs for \( T^0 - \overline {T^0 } \) . In particular, CP violation in the \( T_u^0 - \overline {T_u^0 } \) system could be of the same order of magnitude as in the \(K^0 - \overline {K^0 } \) system (~10?3) while the mixing is totally negligible.  相似文献

We investigate \(M^0 - \bar M^0 \) mixing and CP violation in the minimal left-right symmetric gauge model with spontaneous P and CP violation. The dominant contributions to the mixing amplitude including QCD corrections are calculated explicitly for \(B^0 - \bar B^0 \) . While the amount of mixing is not much changed with respect to the standard model leftright symmetry can give rise to significantly larger CP violation in the \(B_s^0 - \bar B_s^0 \) system (up to two orders of magnitude for the dilepton charge asymmetry). Sizable CP violating effects require that the left-right contribution to theK L K S mass difference has the same sign as the standard model contribution. We also comment on \(D^0 - \bar D^0 \) mixing including a careful discussion of the standard model prediction for the short distance part.  相似文献

Based on the conserved-vector-current (CVC) hypothesis and a four-ρ-resonance unitary and analytic VMD model of the pion electromagnetic form factor, theσ tot(E v lab ) and dσdE π lab of the weak \(\bar v_e e^ - \to \pi ^ - \pi ^0\) process are predicted theoretically for the first time. Their experimental approval could verify the CVC hypothesis for all energies above the two-pion threshold. Since, unlike the electromagnetic e+e?→π+π? process, there is no isoscalar vector-meson contribution to the weak \(\bar v_e e^ - \to \pi ^ - \pi ^0\) reaction, accurate measurements of theσ tot(E v lab ) that moreover is strengthened with energyE v lab linearly could solve now a widely discussed problem of the mass specification of the first excited state of theρ(770) meson. As a by-product, an equality \(\sigma _{tot} (\bar v_e e^ - \to \pi ^ - \pi ^0 ) = \sigma _{tot} (e^ + e^ - \to \pi ^ - \pi ^0 )\) is predicted for \(\sqrt s \approx 70 GeV\) .  相似文献

Spectroscopies of the heavy quarkonia, \(c\bar c\) , \(b\bar b\) and \(t\bar t\) , are analysed with a potential model. Relativistic effects are taken into account and spin dependent interactions are investigated in detail. We propose a flavor independent potential which has a Lorentz vector term determined by the perturbative QCD at short distances and a Lorentz scalar term confining quarks at large distances. It is stressed that the short range attenuation of the vector Coulomb potential has significant effects on the fine and hyperfine structures of the \(c\bar c\) and \(b\bar b\) systems, and also on the \(t\bar t\) level structure. We study the decay property of the \(t\bar t\) system using the calculated wave functions.  相似文献

The CNDO/S method has been applied to the internal effect of Si on the electronic spectrum of the acetone molecule; there is a considerable bathochromic shift and an increase in the \(S_0 \to S_{n\pi ^ * } \) intensity for theα-silyl ketones, while theβ-silyl ketons give only an increase in the intensity of \(S_0 \to S_{n\pi ^ * } \) absorption relative to acetone. The heavy atom substantially alters \(f_{S_0 \to T_{n\sigma ^* } } \) and \(\tau _{T_{n\sigma ^* } }^0 \) but has little effect on \(f_{S_0 \to T_{n\pi ^* } } \) and \(\tau _{T_{n\pi ^* } }^0 \) .  相似文献

We discuss the process $$e^ + e^ - \to Q\bar Q \to 3gluons \to 3jets$$ with attention to the kinematics and observability of the jets. We also show how to check the gluon spin through jet or hadron angular distributions. Gluon flavor can be checked by looking for quantum number correlations between opposite jets. We predict that correlations exist off resonance for \(e^ + e^ - \to q\bar q\) , but not on resonance for \(Q\bar Q \to 3g\) .  相似文献

A new beam-dump experiment has been performed at the CERN Super Proton Synchrotron using the CHARM neutrino detector. The instrumentation and the statistics have been significantly improved with respect to earlier experiments. For a neutrino energy above 20 GeV the asymmetry of the prompt muon-neutrino and electron-neutrino fluxes \([(v_\mu + \bar v_\mu ) - (v_e + \bar v_e )]/[(v_\mu + \bar v_\mu ) + (v_e + \bar v_e )]\) is found to be 0.20±0.10 (stat.)±0.05 (syst.), and the asymmetry of prompt antineutrino and neutrino fluxes for muonneutrinos \((v_\mu - \bar v_\mu )/(v_\mu + \bar v_\mu )\) is 0.02±0.16 (stat.)±0.02 (syst.) in agreement with our previous results. For the cross-section times branching ratio for charm production and semileptonic decay we obtain a value of \(\sigma \times BR\left[ {D(\bar D) \to v_e (\bar v_e ) X} \right] = 1.9 \pm 0.2 \pm 0.2\mu b\) per nucleon. We find no evidence forv τ orv x interactions. The \((v_\tau + \bar v_\tau )\) flux is less than 21% of the total prompt neutrino flux. We derive an improved limit on the branching ratio \(\pi ^0 \to v\bar v\) of 6.5×10?6, and as a verification of the universality of the neutral weak coupling we find \(g_{v_e \bar v_e } /g_{v_\mu \bar v_\mu } = 1.05_{ - 0.18}^{ + 0.15} \) .  相似文献

The relativistic3 P 0 model is applied to the \(p\bar p\) annihilation into twoS-wave mesons. We calculate the branching ratios of the \(p\bar p\) annihilation at rest into two mesons in the quark rearrangement model and in the quark annihilation model. In the annihilation model, we project the intermediate \(cq\bar q\) state to eigenstates ofSU (4) with the relative angular momentum of \(cq\bar q\) equals orp. In the rearrangement model, no annihilation occurs from theS-wave \(p\bar p\) and certain branching ratios conflict with the experimental data. Detailed comparison with the experiment needs inclusion ofP-wave mesons in the final state, nevertheless we find that the annihilation model gives qualitatively better results than the rearrangement model. The effect of initial state interaction through \(N\bar \Delta \pm \Delta \bar {\rm N}\) or \(\Delta \bar \Delta \) channels is discussed.  相似文献

Significant mixing is expected between the neutral bottom mesons \(B_s^0 - \bar B_s^0 \) in the standard model of weak interactions. We propose measurements of the processes \(\left\{ {\begin{array}{*{20}c} {e^ + e^ - } \\ {p\bar p} \\ \end{array} } \right\} \to \begin{array}{*{20}c} {b\bar b} \\ {} \\ \end{array} \to l^ + K^ - K^ - X\) as a measure of such mixing.
