The least-squares linear inverse estimation problem for random fields is studied in a fractional generalized framework. First, the second-order regularity properties of the random fields involved in this problem are analysed in terms of the fractional Sobolev norms. Second, the incorporation of prior information in the form of a fractional stochastic model, with covariance operator bicontinuous with respect to a certain fractional Sobolev norm, leads to a regularization of this problem. Third, a multiresolution approximation to the class of linear inverse problems considered is obtained from a wavelet-based orthogonal expansion of the input and output random models. The least-squares linear estimate of the input random field is then computed using these orthogonal wavelet decompositions. The results are applied to solving two important cases of linear inverse problems defined in terms of fractional integral operators.  相似文献

We construct a two-dimensional diffusion process with rank-dependent local drift and dispersion coëfficients, and with a full range of patterns of behavior upon collision that range from totally frictionless interaction, to elastic collision, to perfect reflection of one particle on the other. These interactions are governed by the left- and right-local times at the origin for the distance between the two particles. We realize this diffusion in terms of appropriate, apparently novel systems of stochastic differential equations involving local times, which we show are well posed. Questions of pathwise uniqueness and strength are also discussed for these systems.  相似文献

We study the path behaviour of general random walks, and that of their local times, on the 2-dimensional comb lattice C2 that is obtained from Z2 by removing all horizontal edges off the x-axis. We prove strong approximation results for such random walks and also for their local times. Concentrating mainly on the latter, we establish strong and weak limit theorems, including Strassen-type laws of the iterated logarithm, Hirsch-type laws, and weak convergence results in terms of functional convergence in distribution.  相似文献

In this paper, we estimate the rest of the approximation of a stationary process by a martingale in terms of the projections of partial sums. Then, based on this estimate, we obtain almost sure approximation of partial sums by a martingale with stationary differences. The results are exploited to further investigate the central limit theorem and its invariance principle started at a point, the almost sure central limit theorem, as well as the law of the iterated logarithm via almost sure approximation with a Brownian motion, improving the results available in the literature. The conditions are well suited for a variety of examples; they are easy to verify, for instance, for linear processes and functions of Bernoulli shifts.  相似文献

Extreme values of a stationary, multivariate time series may exhibit dependence across coordinates and over time. The aim of this paper is to offer a new and potentially useful tool called tail process to describe and model such extremes. The key property is the following fact: existence of the tail process is equivalent to multivariate regular variation of finite cuts of the original process. Certain remarkable properties of the tail process are exploited to shed new light on known results on certain point processes of extremes. The theory is shown to be applicable with great ease to stationary solutions of stochastic autoregressive processes with random coefficient matrices, an interesting special case being a recently proposed factor GARCH model. In this class of models, the distribution of the tail process is calculated by a combination of analytical methods and a novel sampling algorithm.  相似文献

We study the asymptotic behaviour of the empirical distribution function derived from a stationary marked point process when a convex sampling window is expanding without bounds in all directions. We consider a random field model which assumes that the marks and the points are independent and admits dependencies between the marks. The main result is the weak convergence of the empirical process under strong mixing conditions on both independent components of the model. Applying an approximation principle weak convergence can be also shown for appropriately weighted empirical process defined from a stationary d-dimensional germ-grain process with dependent grains.  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss some basic distributional and asymptotic properties of the Pearson-Kotz Dirichlet multivariate distributions. These distributions, which appear as the limit of conditional Dirichlet random vectors, possess many appealing properties and are interesting from theoretical as well as applied points of view. We construct a sequence of processes that converges strongly to fractional Brownian motion uniformly on bounded intervals for any Hurst parameter HH, and we derive a rate of convergence, which becomes better when HH approaches 1/21/2. The construction is based on the Mandelbrot–van Ness stochastic integral representation of fractional Brownian motion and on a strong transport process approximation of Brownian motion. The objective of this method is to facilitate simulation.  相似文献

We consider short asymptotic expansions for the probability of a sum of i.i.d. random elements to hit a ball in a Hilbert space H. The error bound for the expansion is of order O(n-1). It depends on the first 12 eigenvalues of the covariance operator only. Moreover, the bound is non-uniform, i.e. the accuracy of the approximation becomes better as the distance between a boundary of the ball and the origin in H grows.  相似文献

We prove some heavy-traffic limit theorems for some nonstationary linear processes which encompass the fractionally differentiated random walk as well as some FARIMA processes, when the innovations are in the domain of attraction of a non-Gaussian stable distribution. Stochastic measures of the distance between a density f and its estimate fn have been used to compare the accuracy of density estimators in Monte Carlo trials. The practice in the past has been to select a measure largely on the basis of its ease of computation, using only heuristic arguments to explain the large sample behaviour of the measure. Steele [11] has shown that these arguments can lead to incorrect conclusions. In the present paper we obtain limit theorems for the stochastic processes derived from stochastic measures, thereby explaining the large sample behaviour of the measures.  相似文献

Summary. A simple mapping approach is proposed to study the bootstrap accuracy in a rather general setting. It is demonstrated that the bootstrap accuracy can be obtained through this method for a broad class of statistics to which the commonly used Edgeworth expansion approach may not be successfully applied. We then consider some examples to illustrate how this approach may be used to find the bootstrap accuracy and show the advantage of the bootstrap approximation over the Gaussian approximation. For the multivariate Kolmogorov–Smirnov statistic, we show the error of bootstrap approximation is as small as that of the Gaussian approximation. For the multivariate kernel type density estimate, we obtain an order of the bootstrap error which is smaller than the order of the error of the Gaussian approximation given in Rio (1994). We present new algorithms for weak approximation of stochastic differential equations driven by pure jump Lévy processes. The method uses adaptive non-uniform discretization based on the times of large jumps of the driving process. To approximate the solution between these times we replace the small jumps with a Brownian motion. Our technique avoids the simulation of the increments of the Lévy process, and in many cases achieves better convergence rates than the traditional Euler scheme with equal time steps. To illustrate the method, we discuss an application to option pricing in the Libor market model with jumps.  相似文献

Regenerative simulation has become a familiar and established tool for simulation-based estimation. However, many applications (e.g., traffic in high-speed communications networks) call for autocorrelated stochastic models to which traditional regenerative theory is not directly applicable. Consequently, extensions of regenerative simulation to dependent time series is increasingly gaining in theoretical and practical interest, with Markov chains constituting an important case. Fortunately, a regenerative structure can be identified in Harris-recurrent Markov chains with minor modification, and this structure can be exploited for standard regenerative estimation. In this paper we focus on a versatile class of Harris-recurrent Markov chains, called TES (Transform-Expand-Sample). TES processes can generate a variety of sample paths with arbitrary marginal distributions, and autocorrelation functions with a variety of functional forms (monotone, oscillating and alternating). A practical advantage of TES processes is that they can simultaneously capture the first and second order statistics of empirical sample paths (raw field measurements). Specifically, the TES modeling methodology can simultaneously match the empirical marginal distribution (histogram), as well as approximate the empirical autocorrelation function. We explicitly identify regenerative structures in TES processes and proceed to address efficiency and accuracy issues of prospective simulations. To show the efficacy of our approach, we report on a TES/M/1 case study. In this study, we used the likelihood ratio method to calculate the mean waiting time performance as a function of the regenerative structure and the intrinsic TES parameter controlling burstiness (degree of autocorrelation) in the arrival process. The score function method was used to estimate the corresponding sensitivity (gradient) with respect to the service rate. Finally, we demonstrated the importance of the particular regenerative structure selected in regard to the estimation efficiency and accuracy induced by the regeneration cycle length.  相似文献

Pickands coordinates were introduced as a crucial tool for the investigation of bivariate extreme value models. We extend their definition to arbitrary dimensions and, thus, we can generalize many known results for bivariate extreme value and generalized Pareto models to higher dimensions and arbitrary extreme value margins.In particular we characterize multivariate generalized Pareto distributions (GPs) and spectral δ-neighborhoods of GPs in terms of best attainable rates of convergence of extremes, which are well-known results in the univariate case. A sufficient univariate condition for a multivariate distribution function (df) to belong to the domain of attraction of an extreme value df is derived. Bounds for the variational distance in peaks-over-threshold models are established, which are based on Pickands coordinates.  相似文献

In this paper, we use an empirical likelihood method to construct confidence regions for the stationary ARMA(p,q) models with infinite variance. An empirical log-likelihood ratio is derived by the estimating equation of the self-weighted LAD estimator. It is proved that the proposed statistic has an asymptotic standard chi-squared distribution. Simulation studies show that in a small sample case, the performance of empirical likelihood method is better than that of normal approximation of the LAD estimator in terms of the coverage accuracy.  相似文献

An estimate of the convergence rate based on a distance which is equivalent to the weak convergence topology is derived. This paper proposes two related approximation schemes, based on a discrete grid on a finite time interval [0,T][0,T], and having a finite number of states, for a pure jump Lévy process LtLt. The sequences of discrete processes converge to the original process, as the time interval becomes finer and the number of states grows larger, in various modes of weak and strong convergence, according to the way they are constructed. An important feature is that the filtrations generated at each stage by the approximations are sub-filtrations of the filtration generated by the continuous time Lévy process. This property is useful for applications of these results, especially to optimal stopping problems, as we illustrate with an application to American option pricing. The rates of convergence of the discrete approximations to the underlying continuous time process are assessed in terms of a “complexity” measure for the option pricing algorithm.  相似文献

We derive expansion results in order to approximate the law of the average of the marginal of diffusion processes. The average is computed w.r.t. a general parameter that is involved in the diffusion dynamics. Our approximation is based on the use of proxys with normal distribution or log-normal distribution, so that the expansion terms are explicit. We provide non asymptotic error bounds, which justifies the expansion accuracy as the time or the diffusion coefficients are small in a suitable sense.  相似文献
