Various properties of isoperimetric, functional, Transport-Entropy and concentration inequalities are studied on a Riemannian manifold equipped with a measure, whose generalized Ricci curvature is bounded from below. First, stability of these inequalities with respect to perturbation of the measure is obtained. The extent of the perturbation is measured using several different distances between perturbed and original measure, such as a one-sided L bound on the ratio between their densities, Wasserstein distances, and Kullback–Leibler divergence. In particular, an extension of the Holley–Stroock perturbation lemma for the log-Sobolev inequality is obtained, and the dependence on the perturbation parameter is improved from linear to logarithmic. Second, the equivalence of Transport-Entropy inequalities with different cost-functions is verified, by obtaining a reverse Jensen type inequality. The main tool used is a previous precise result on the equivalence between concentration and isoperimetric inequalities in the described setting. Of independent interest is a new dimension independent characterization of Transport-Entropy inequalities with respect to the 1-Wasserstein distance, which does not assume any curvature lower bound.  相似文献

We study functional inequalities for Markov chains on discrete spaces with entropic Ricci curvature bounded from below. Our main results are that when curvature is non-negative, but not necessarily positive, the spectral gap, the Cheeger isoperimetric constant and the modified logarithmic Sobolev constant of the chain can be bounded from below by a constant that only depends on the diameter of the space, with respect to a suitable metric. These estimates are discrete analogues of classical results of Riemannian geometry obtained by Li and Yau, Buser and Wang.  相似文献

Optimal higher-order Sobolev type embeddings are shown to follow via isoperimetric inequalities. This establishes a higher-order analogue of a well-known link between first-order Sobolev embeddings and isoperimetric inequalities. Sobolev type inequalities of any order, involving arbitrary rearrangement-invariant norms, on open sets in RnRn, possibly endowed with a measure density, are reduced to much simpler one-dimensional inequalities for suitable integral operators depending on the isoperimetric function of the relevant sets. As a consequence, the optimal target space in the relevant Sobolev embeddings can be determined both in standard and in non-standard classes of function spaces and underlying measure spaces. In particular, our results are applied to any-order Sobolev embeddings in regular (John) domains of the Euclidean space, in Maz'ya classes of (possibly irregular) Euclidean domains described in terms of their isoperimetric function, and in families of product probability spaces, of which the Gauss space is a classical instance.  相似文献

We prove explicit upper and lower bounds for the torsional rigidity of extrinsic domains of submanifolds P m with controlled radial mean curvature in ambient Riemannian manifolds N n with a pole p and with sectional curvatures bounded from above and from below, respectively. These bounds are given in terms of the torsional rigidities of corresponding Schwarz-symmetrization of the domains in warped product model spaces. Our main results are obtained using methods from previously established isoperimetric inequalities, as found in, e.g., Markvorsen and Palmer (Proc Lond Math Soc 93:253--272, 2006; Extrinsic isoperimetric analysis on submanifolds with curvatures bounded from below, p. 39, preprint, 2007). As in that paper we also characterize the geometry of those situations in which the bounds for the torsional rigidity are actually attained and study the behavior at infinity of the so-called geometric average of the mean exit time for Brownian motion.  相似文献

We study the topology of (properly) immersed complete minimal surfaces P 2 in Hyperbolic and Euclidean spaces which have finite total extrinsic curvature, using some isoperimetric inequalities satisfied by the extrinsic balls in these surfaces (see [10]). We present an alternative and unified proof of the Chern-Osserman inequality satisfied by these minimal surfaces (in ? n and in ? n (b)), based in the isoperimetric analysis mentioned above. Finally, we show a Chern-Osserman-type equality attained by complete minimal surfaces in the Hyperbolic space with finite total extrinsic curvature.  相似文献

It is well known that isoperimetric inequalities imply in a very general measure-metric-space setting appropriate concentration inequalities. The former bound the boundary measure of sets as a function of their measure, whereas the latter bound the measure of sets separated from sets having half the total measure, as a function of their mutual distance. We show that under a lower bound condition on the Bakry–Émery curvature tensor of a Riemannian manifold equipped with a density, completely general concentration inequalities imply back their isoperimetric counterparts, up to dimension independent bounds. Our method is entirely geometric, continuing the approach of Gromov, Buser and Morgan. To cite this article: E. Milman, C. R. Acad. Sci. Paris, Ser. I 347 (2009).  相似文献

In the first part of the paper we investigate some geometric features of Moser–Trudinger inequalities on complete non-compact Riemannian manifolds. By exploring rearrangement arguments, isoperimetric estimates, and gluing local uniform estimates via Gromov's covering lemma, we provide a Coulhon, Saloff-Coste and Varopoulos type characterization concerning the validity of Moser–Trudinger inequalities on complete non-compact n-dimensional Riemannian manifolds (n2) with Ricci curvature bounded from below. Some sharp consequences are also presented both for non-negatively and non-positively curved Riemannian manifolds, respectively. In the second part, by combining variational arguments and a Lions type symmetrization-compactness principle, we guarantee the existence of a non-zero isometry-invariant solution for an elliptic problem involving the n-Laplace–Beltrami operator and a critical nonlinearity on n-dimensional homogeneous Hadamard manifolds. Our results complement in several directions those of Y. Yang [J. Funct. Anal., 2012].  相似文献

Let M be a smooth connected manifold endowed with a smooth measure μ and a smooth locally subelliptic diffusion operator L which is symmetric with respect to μ. We assume that L satisfies a generalized curvature dimension inequality as introduced by Baudoin and Garofalo (2009) [9]. Our goal is to discuss functional inequalities for μ like the Poincaré inequality, the log-Sobolev inequality or the Gaussian logarithmic isoperimetric inequality.  相似文献

The well-known Bonnet theorem claims that, on a Darboux surface in three-dimensional Euclidean space, along each line of curvature, the corresponding principal curvature is proportional to the cube of another principal curvature. In the present paper, this theorem is generalized (with respect to dimension) to n-dimensional hypersurfaces of Euclidean spaces.  相似文献

We define a general variant of the modulus of smoothness in metric spaces and show that under mild condition it is equivalent to the K-functional of a couple of Besov type spaces which in special cases coincide with spaces defined by Korevaar and Schoen. We prove various symmetrization inequalities which involve the modulus, the K-functional and the isoperimetric estimators. We also characterize the Hajłasz-type Sobolev spaces defined not necessarily on doubling measure spaces by means of generalized Poincaré inequalities. This require to study of some variants of the Fefferman–Stein sharp functions as well as the Hardy–Littlewood maximal operators.  相似文献

In this paper, we study stability properties of hypersurfaces with constant weighted mean curvature (CWMC) in gradient Ricci solitons. The CWMC hypersurfaces generalize the f-minimal hypersurfaces and appear naturally in the isoperimetric problems in smooth metric measure spaces. We obtain a result about the relationship between the properness and extrinsic volume growth under the assumption of a limitation for the weighted mean curvature of the immersion. Moreover, we estimate Morse index for CWMC hypersurfaces in terms of the dimension of the space of parallel vector fields restricted to hypersurface.  相似文献

In this paper we study global distance estimates and uniform local volume estimates in a large class of sub-Riemannian manifolds. Our main device is the generalized curvature dimension inequality introduced by the first and the third author in [3] and its use to obtain sharp inequalities for solutions of the sub-Riemannian heat equation. As a consequence, we obtain a Gromov type precompactness theorem for the class of sub-Riemannian manifolds whose generalized Ricci curvature is bounded from below in the sense of [3].  相似文献

The classical Jung theorem gives an optimal upper estimate for the radius of a bounded subset of R n in terms of its diameter and the dimension. In this note we present an analogue of this result for metric spaces of curvature bounded above in the sense of Alexandrov.  相似文献

We consider inner metric spaces of curvature bounded below in the sense of Wald, without assuming local compactness or existence of minimal curves. We first extend the Hopf-Rinow theorem by proving existence, uniqueness, and “almost extendability” of minimal curves from any point to a denseG δ subset. An immediate consequence is that Alexandrov’s comparisons are meaningful in this setting. We then prove Toponogov’s theorem in this generality, and a rigidity theorem which characterizes spheres. Finally, we use our characterization to show the existence of spheres in the space of directions at points in a denseG δ set. This allows us to define a notion of “local dimension” of the space using the dimension of such spheres. If the local dimension is finite, the space is an Alexandrov space.  相似文献

We generalize the Poincaré limit which asserts that the n-dimensional Gaussian measure is approximated by the projections of the uniform probability measure on the Euclidean sphere of appropriate radius to the first n-coordinates as the dimension diverges to infinity. The generalization is done by replacing the projections with certain maps. Using this generalization, we derive a Gaussian isoperimetric inequality for an absolutely continuous probability measure on Euclidean spaces with respect to the Lebesgue measure, whose density is a radial function.  相似文献

We study the extension properties of Orlicz-Sobolev functions both in Euclidean spaces and in metric measure spaces equipped with a doubling measure. We show that a set ER satisfying a measure density condition admits a bounded linear extension operator from the trace space W1,Ψ(Rn)E| to W1,Ψ(Rn). Then we show that a domain, in which the Sobolev embedding theorem or a Poincaré-type inequality holds, satisfies the measure density condition. It follows that the existence of a bounded, possibly non-linear extension operator or even the surjectivity of the trace operator implies the measure density condition and hence the existence of a bounded linear extension operator.  相似文献

Some results due to Fang and Peterson on generalized variational inequalities in the space ? n are extended to infinite-dimensional spaces. Theorems on the existence of solutions of such inequalities under generalized coercivity conditions are obtained.  相似文献

In 1988 Adams obtained sharp Moser–Trudinger inequalities on bounded domains of Rn. The main step was a sharp exponential integral inequality for convolutions with the Riesz potential. In this paper we extend and improve Adams' results to functions defined on arbitrary measure spaces with finite measure. The Riesz fractional integral is replaced by general integral operators, whose kernels satisfy suitable and explicit growth conditions, given in terms of their distribution functions; natural conditions for sharpness are also given. Most of the known results about Moser–Trudinger inequalities can be easily adapted to our unified scheme. We give some new applications of our theorems, including: sharp higher order Moser–Trudinger trace inequalities, sharp Adams/Moser–Trudinger inequalities for general elliptic differential operators (scalar and vector-valued), for sums of weighted potentials, and for operators in the CR setting.  相似文献

We prove sharp inequalities for the volumes of hyperplane sections bisecting a convex body in Rn. This leads to a relative isoperimetric inequality for arbitrary hyperplane sections of a convex body.  相似文献

We give sufficient conditions for a measured length space (X,d,ν) to admit local and global Poincaré inequalities, along with a Sobolev inequality. We first introduce a condition DM on (X,d,ν), defined in terms of transport of measures. We show that DM, together with a doubling condition on ν, implies a scale-invariant local Poincaré inequality. We show that if (X,d,ν) has nonnegative N-Ricci curvature and has unique minimizing geodesics between almost all pairs of points then it satisfies DM, with constant N2. The condition DM is preserved by measured Gromov-Hausdorff limits. We then prove a Sobolev inequality for measured length spaces with N-Ricci curvature bounded below by K>0. Finally we derive a sharp global Poincaré inequality.  相似文献
